12021  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Looking to buy a decent miner, budget is $200 on: March 12, 2015, 01:20:57 AM
Hey guys! I'm looking for a decent mining setup that could pull about 500 GH/s. Unfortunately buying miners used on amazon and eBay don't include the power supply, and buying one would go too much over the budget of $200 USD. So, I'd like to ask the community if they've got an old asic, perhaps an S3 or an S4... Something self contained would be amazing, because I've never ran a dedicated miner. I have mind, though! I used to run a GPU instance on amazon for kicks, back when they made a few dollars. But I've been into bitcoin since 2011, so I'm well acquainted with it. Thanks for any considerations and offers!
I have an S3 that I am probably going to sell in the very near future. You can make an offer for it what you would be willing to pay.
12022  Other / Meta / Re: Proxy and a new account on: March 11, 2015, 07:21:47 PM
Signing up via tor will not get your account banned. You will need to pay a fee in order to start posting however this is not a ban. With a ban you cannot pay to get the ban lifted.
12023  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Hero Account with Green Trust on: March 11, 2015, 07:14:23 PM
Hi I am new here I was just wondering if selling accounts is allowed on this site. From some of the posts it seems like is some like it is not.

Yes. You can sell accounts. In fact, Quickseller sells accounts. If you wanted to buy accounts, he has a whole range of them.

actually my inventory is running very low and will likely stop selling once I sell what I have

Is it not worth it/profitable anymore or something of the sort?
There are a lot of scam attempts and they tend to take a long time to sell them. Plus it is frustrating to see the level of spam on most of the accounts.

12025  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Need a loan of 3k on: March 11, 2015, 05:16:32 PM
If you don't have collatetal then it would be unlikely you will get a loan here. Especially with the rate you are offering.

Your hearing aids are likely to not be worth $4000 in four years when the loan is due as advances in medical technology makes current equipment depreciate very quickly. I am also unsure if there is any kind of secondary market for hearing aids.

12027  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: March 11, 2015, 04:18:12 PM
Bit-x has reduced its pay rates.

Where it is posted ? If it is some where please provide us the link, and dont post if you dont know about any thing. I think its the bug in the site and it will be corrected soon.
I have a feeling the person who posted that is Marcotheminer announcing the reduction. This is obviously speculation but it would make sense. I don't think you can edit your posts when you are banned.

He can edit the signature, which he has been doing.

If the reduction is correct and not an error in the bot it might indicate that Bit-x is not gaining as much as they had expected.
That reduction is real. That newbie account who posted it in this thread earlier is probably Marko indeed. Look at this guys:

I removed the few lines not related to the lowered rate and.. here we are:

marcotheminer: I've changed rates.
marcotheminer: I'll make an announcement soon.
marcotheminer: Rates change when you're paid.
marcotheminer: Can you try to explain
marcotheminer: That I've lowered the rate.
marcotheminer: I'll explain in a few hours
marcotheminer: See you

So I guess rates will be either on par with DaDice or even lower now. I wonder why the change?
Well who is bogooloo Huh

Did he happen to say what the new rates are?
12028  Other / New forum software / Re: Signature changes on: March 11, 2015, 04:12:05 PM
Well, in theory if one ad is displayed multiple times in one page then each additional advertisement displayed will be less effective and companies will want to try to limit this by creating smaller signature campaigns. Although the nature of free markets say that generally speaking once a company is successful it will continue to grow which would allow them to have a bigger budget for advertisements.

The campaign that I am in does a pretty good job in not paying for spam, which is ultimately what needs to happen. Unfortunately it is very time intensive to monitor for spam on a campaign basis with the help of some administrative tools. There was a good amount of spam from the campaign that I am in last week, and will probably be a bit of spam for another week or two until people realize they won't get paid for shit posts. I think the site owner will likely see that that kind of advertising is much more effective as people will be less likely to skip reading posts from people who make nothing but shit posts (and skip over the signature/ad as well).

As it stands now, if someone were to get banned in the middle of a signature campaign, it would only appear as if they stopped posting, and as long as they made the minimum number of posts required they would likely still get paid, so there is really a very small penalty for being banned. If a ban were also to, at the very least result in a signature being removed while they are banned then they would not be paid because almost all signature campaigns require that the signature be kept up the duration of the payment period.

I can say that I often see something that someone is selling themselves (for example their escrow service, physical coins, ect.) that I may be interested in buying, and the amount of business they do would obviously not warrant any kind of paid advertisement.
12029  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] ALL AMAZON.COM GIFT CARDS OR PROXY BUY on: March 11, 2015, 03:47:26 PM
I dont think very many (any) people have legit gift cards in that large of an amount. No one is certainly going to be dumb enough to accept PayPal from a newbie and if they were to accept PayPal from a trusted member they would likely want a preimum
12030  Economy / Lending / Re: Need 0.05btc Loan on: March 11, 2015, 03:37:05 PM
The forum has been hacked a number of times before sometimes for a long time before being discovered. In theory a hacker could edit my post but he wouldn't be able to edit it so the signature matches.
12031  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTB] ALL AMAZON.COM GIFT CARDS OR PROXY BUY on: March 11, 2015, 03:26:51 PM
Why don't you use gyft? It would result in you being guaranteed that you will not be getting a carded gift card.

If you are willing to bump up your rate to 100% then I could do this via Bitcoin.
12032  Other / New forum software / Re: Signature changes on: March 11, 2015, 03:03:12 PM
But wouldn't that result in a dramatic reduction of the payout? Because the campaign company would be getting less views.
yes.
I am not sure this would be effective in reducing spam, it could even make it worse as companies would pay less so the people who are willing to try to earn via signature spamming will either need to work harder (spam more) or would be willing to accept less. I would say that generally people who are willing to accept low payments will probably generally spam more.

I do agree with your point that people should not be forced to view ads although it is currently setup so that only heros+ can disable forum ads.

I think a good solution would be to have a second tier of a ban when someone is banned for insubstantial posts + paid signature (aka signature spam). One could be banned for 14 days from posting/sending PMs and then once that ban expires, for a person to be unable to display their own signature (they can't participate in signature campaigns).

It would probably also not be a bad idea to disable displaying a signature when the ban starts as well so that when a person is banned they will likely be denied payment from their campaign because their signature is removed. This would cause people to be more careful about getting banned because it would mean they won't get paid for their "work" verses they just can't post now and would likely appear as though they just went on vacation.
12033  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting theymos to remove CanaryInTheMine from DefaultTrust on: March 11, 2015, 02:34:00 PM
I think it is interesting to see that CITM has so many people on his trust list that gave positive trust to FC that he still has 150 trust even with two negatives.

It is also interesting that everyone except two people are on CITM's trust list that gave FC positive trust (a few are on others trust as well)

12035  Economy / Services / Re: Need someone to make constructive posts on my accounts on: March 11, 2015, 11:38:42 AM
I would have considered this had it not been the ridiculous amount of posts you expect to get for .6 per week. If you had 6 senior accounts then you would be earning .78 btc per week @.0013 per post, or .98 @ .0014 and your risk would be very little.

In addition to the above you would increase the value of your accounts because their posting history would dramatically improve and they would eventually rank up.

I would be willing to escrow such an arrangement though, but I would not take any responsibility if you cannot regain control of your account from the person you are paying to post for you

12037  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: March 11, 2015, 11:13:55 AM
By not paying for spammy posts he will not attract spammers, leaving room for people who make higher quality posts, which will increase the overall effectiveness of the campaign
That's one problem. Whether the post is considered spammy or is only the manager's choice and the participants are not being told which of their posts were disqualified.
The other is the length of posts. If it was only about spam I wouldn't even start the argument, but it seems most posters were paid less than they should because their posts, according to the person who counted them, were too short. I guess that's it, we'll see how they do next week. Smiley
Well it seems to be your argument for the manager to pay for all posts despite their spam status, which is obviously not the solution. If you are making a lot of one liners then you are more likely to have few/none of your one liners paid for, while on the other hand if you have mostly posts that you put a lot of effort into then a very short post would be more likely to be paid out. Yes that is not treating everyone exactly the same when deciding when to pay a specific post however the one liner is more likely to be looked at closely if written by someone who has a reputation for putting effort into their posts verses someone who has likely made their ways to many people's ignore list for posting crap
12038  Other / Meta / Re: seriously 14 day bann???? on: March 11, 2015, 11:06:52 AM
@hilariousandco is it possible for you to go through the last 100ish posts on the yahoo62278 account and make a case to badbear to lift the ban? im not refuting that a few post were spammy but im not also agreeing that 60 posts were spam. this ban seems a bit ridiculous and its a 1st offense to boot. they can tak their sig spampaigns n shove em. i dont need the bullshit for a minimal payment

I've had a quick look through and in my opinion about half of them on the first page look ok but after that the quality clearly drops drastically when you start making them within minutes. I trust BadBear's judgement on these things and have no say in the matter of bans or reducing them anyway. Whilst 14 days may seem harsh I think bans are the best way to deal with spammers as the fear of losing their account and money is likely the only punishment/encouragement people will get to change their ways. Best I can do is offer you the advice to just wait out the ban and when you return make sure you keep the quality of your posts up. I wish bans weren't necessary but it's either that or banning signature campaigns which will inevitably come if people don't change their ways en masse.
The first page of his posts are good because he is making an argument to have gotten paid for more of his posts, which he ironically put a lot more effort into making then when he was making posts hoping to get paid for 100 posts.

It would be possible to make an argument to advocate for someone to get unbanned or to have their 'sentence' reduced, however I would personally say that would not be appropriate to do so in this case. Even if such an argument was made, there is nothing to say that he would follow such advice, although I do think BadBear is generally fair.

Alts of well known scammers are often tagged. Just look at CandyStripes, marcotheminer, puzzle.me, among others. If he can find them then BadBear will tag them.

Surprised to see marcotheminer there but I understood why you listed him.
He was there because he has sold/traded/trafficked in hacked/stolen accounts in the past and it appears that any time he creates/uses an account to attempt to sell other accounts, BadBear sends a negative trust it's way
