12041  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: September 20, 2015, 07:24:56 AM
there is an awful lot of FUD out there. Bitcoin will not go to die until a better technology comes out or a fatal vulnerability is discovered.

There is already a better technology out, yet it still hasnt died. It has a charm by being the first crypto. People wont abandon it so easily, it's like your firstborn child. Would you abandon it for another child?

what is this better technology? don't tell me ethereum or maidsafe, they are akin to a rehash of an old attempt to a decentralized internet, called freenet

I dont think those coins are really promising.

Monero has a great innovation in terms of anonymity.

Bytecoin has better security and faster and more efficient network than bitcoin in all terms.

NXT, BURST, NEM, HZ, COUNTERPARTY has a whole economy, stock market, marketplace & more integrated in a decentralized fashion.

all altcoin, monero also, only include a small feature that differentiate them from bitcoin, they are still clone and nothing more

every features they have can be integrated easily in bitcoin, i don't see innovation as it was with bitcoin

LOL wow really?

You do realize that the Monero code base is completely different than that of Bitcoin? Using ring signatures, stealth addresses producing untraceability and unlinkability.

Can't do that with Bitcoin as far as I am aware. Bitcoin has a public blockchain as well that you can trace.

And NO...those features can't be integrated EASILY into bitcoin.

The Bitcoin core developers can't even agree on a SINGLE line of code to change (i.e. the block size) and you think they can add cryptonote into the bitcoin source that would allow it to operate like Monero?

Wow seriously appears you a delusional. No offense.

wut you know about sidechain right? every features out there including cryptonight algo can be included easily if sidechain will see the light at the end of the day

also zerocoin is implementing a zero knowledge proof, which is the same as monero in terms of anonimity

all the altcoin work the same as bitcoin, the fact that monero is more anon than bitcoin does not make it 100% new, it's still a clone, based on the same fundamental, nothing revolutionary really...
12042  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BTC mining profitability on: September 20, 2015, 07:21:43 AM
buy the best efficient miners out there which is the s7, so you can have more room on your electricity

with only 1 megawatt you can run around 800 antmienr s7, which is 33 btc daily of profit, but there is a tons of money to invest at the beginning
12043  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What do you think about this miner? on: September 20, 2015, 07:17:16 AM
eats more than 1 watt per GHs = loss unless you have free or near-free electric.

Waste of time and money as a general rule.

1kw for 1 tera is way too much, one should aim at 0.5 per giga or 500 per tera

the s7 is 250w per tera currently...
12044  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Exchange Reviews Collection - the most complete! on: September 20, 2015, 07:07:51 AM
Hi guy, do you notice LakeBTC recent relsased GBP, EUR and JPY currencies?

no, but i must assume that they were dealing only with usd before, that's why they weren't so famous and their volume wasn't great either, good for them then

i still find kraken to be the best for exchange in fiat, but maybe not for trading....
12045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: September 20, 2015, 07:05:58 AM
that's why government worry about bitcoin because some people want use bitcoin for wrong way, buying drugs is illegal.

well it depend if our friend want to sell it for medical purpose or he is a medic himself

there is a vast usage for drugs in medicine
12046  Economy / Economics / Re: A good day to buy hard? on: September 19, 2015, 05:46:53 PM
Today is the best day to buy hard really. No one can catch the perfect bottom price. But anybody can make Avg lower price. So,  around 220 to 230 USD is the best price to enter into bitcoin for long term holding.

Let's see if we don't encounter price slippage in this next days. I still believe sub-200 can happen.

but until now, it hasn't happened, i'm not counting random sub 200 on one exchange only, those are heavily manipulated to cause a even more heavy panic dumping

the more the 230 value will hold the market the more you can stay sure that we won't fall to sub 200
12047  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: help Electrum my sending bitcoin is still pennding 2 days ago..... on: September 19, 2015, 05:43:46 PM
what is the minimum fee? is there an online calculator to help me decide the amount i should pay?

with core you can use the automatic fee, which will be set according to the amount you want to send

i know this can be done with Core, not sure about other version
12048  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: New to mining questions. on: September 19, 2015, 03:39:04 PM
Hey,
New to mining here.
Where do you recommend I start?

from s7 if you want any real edge for your profit, it's profitable up to 0.15-25 cent but the roi will kill you

but if you have something like 0.05 cent per hour, it can be worth it

Can you show math of .25 being profitable?  With difficulty I think .15 is hard to ROI, but .25 seems pretty much impossible.

Including difficulty I just don't see how you are ROIing at such high electricity.

well i was assuming that diff does not change, which is unrealistic yes, maybe 0.25 is overstimating

but with 1.2kw x 0.20 x 24, you have $5.76 in consumption, daily, vs $10 in earning daily, i'm talking about the s7

I guess I never do ROI without some difficulty change.   In a world without it yes the .2x would ROI.   But I think in "real world" anything near the .2x ROI is just a dream.

Only chance is if they get lucky mine a few weeks and somehow are able to sell miner for what they paid.   They will not be able to stay in the race hundreds of days.

i don't trust difficult change too much, i replyed to another member that was saying that the diff was increase much more than 3%, monthly supposedly, yet since january at least, the earning of the antminer s5 was 0.01 for the whole time until today which is still near 0.01(0.0097)

all this difficult change to me seems smoke and nothing else, people should remember that if the diff is increasing, it is because there is more efficiency, but if there is more efficiency there is more reward, the ratio will remain the same

How can you possibly not believe in difficulty change?   It happens - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

As someone who mines with more then one S5 it does exist and effects earnings.  And eventually makes miners unprofitable.   If there was no difficulty change I could run an old miner forever, just does not happen and to good to be true.

it's not that i don't believe in difficult change, i know it change all the time, my point is that at the end the same ratio will remain, like i've explained it the previous post, so the effect of the diff is negligeable if the price of bitcoin does not change
12049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 19, 2015, 02:05:07 PM
no i believe none of those other coins offers something genuinely new like bitcoin was since its begining, they offer something valuable in some cases, but it can still be implemented in the future if consensus is reached, they are not groundbreaking changes
12050  Economy / Economics / Re: What's your guess on the price of bitcoin for Jan 2016 and July 2016? on: September 19, 2015, 02:00:46 PM
it seems that the demand is stubborn enough to maintain the price in the 230 value for a while right now, this mean that we can assume that if this value remain until the halving the price must increase because there will be 1800 less coins dumped from miners

which in other words would be around $400k each day, a decrease of 1800 coins per day should be equal to a buy of 3600 coins per day, so it is as if someone will buy 3600 additional coins each day

this should not increase too much the value of bitcoin, but it's sure that the value will increase if the demand will remain exactly the same as it is right now
12051  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: September 19, 2015, 01:55:31 PM
It depends if im earning 5-10 BTC a day without miss, i will quit my day job. Earning that amount of btc everyday is very nice, you can support your family and your daily habit by that.

why you need to earn that much, i doubt you're making the same with your real life job, yeah bitcoin is unstable

but this amount you want far exceed any regular job out there, if you can earn 1 btc a day you should already leave your normal job...

5 BTC a day means 150 BTC in a month which approx. is ~35,000 USD
I think it is just enough this income for a year not for a month lol.
If i earn so much i would leave immediately wouldn't think twice Smiley

Indeed. Like they were saying even 1 BTC/day would be nice but if you're living off that you would need to wory about taxes. That's important.

1 btc a month is way too much already, in my example, we are talking about $7k per month, i doubt here the majority are making so big, when you have a large bunch of dude still asking to earn money with faucets...

12053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Open New Bank Account for Online Poker Bitcoin Withdrawal? on: September 19, 2015, 01:45:45 PM
if you can withdraw your coins from that poker room to your client and then exchange those on any good exchange, you can afterward transfer the amount on your bank, only fiat will come there

but anyway you could ask your bank support for any problem related bitcoin
12054  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: earn bitcoins quickly on: September 19, 2015, 01:42:22 PM
Yes, and if the market moves the other way you make even more loss  Roll Eyes

well trading is for expert only, and leveraging is even more for those people, don't expect a random dude to take daily profit from trading, but if you are good it's all profit out there for you
12055  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining Profitable? on: September 19, 2015, 10:05:49 AM
The S7 will never achieve ROI at .15 cents/kwh - unless bitcoin price rises a lot more than it has been doing, or diff suddently stops increasing.

Even at a 3% average diff increase and 6.7 cent / KWH power cost, the S7 costs more than it will ever return - and recent diff increases have been a LOT more than 3%.

I'm not sure at this point if an S7 will be profitable AT ALL past the halfing, unless your electric is in the UNDER 5 cents/KWH range.

if you're talking about 3% diff increase per month, it's more than doable, look at the antminers s5, its profit remained at 0.01 for a very long time, at least since january which is 9 months already, this is more than enough to roi with everything out there

only recently , dropped to 0.009, so the whole diff increase is a bit overestimated...

he can have a good profit actually even with that rate, but only with the s7 and maybe the s5+

the s7+ is currently producing around $10 per day while consuming only 4.5 with his rate(1200x24x0.15)

the problem is that ROI is very long, because of the initial investment for the new S7
12059  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: which site is the best for mining? on: September 19, 2015, 07:24:41 AM
may be genesis mining still best for now..

seems a bit expensive to me, hashnet has better price and has the s7 available already, so better maintanance fees

If genesis will happen to decrease the prize per ghs like hashnest does i would possibly invest because unlike other cloud mining sites out there they are one used to be in public.
They did lower there fee to 0.0012 dollar per gh/s.  And Genesis will probably launch X11 cloud-mining.
(Discount code is MOON)

there is still demand for XX coins, i thought everything out there with that algo is done already, the biggest one darkcoin isn't profitable anymore by a long shot

the most profitable seems scrypt
12060  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: So who drops out at the halving? on: September 19, 2015, 07:21:11 AM
with simple math you can verify that any miners around 0.05 or less can take profit even at $70 per btc, so with the next halving they are still there with a small gain

for example 1 farm with 1k antminer s5 can earn around 10 btc day($2300), while consuming only 590 kw/h x 0.05 x 24 = $708, with the halving there is still around 400+ in profit every day

and all this without counting that the new s7 has a double efficiency...
