Nice.

Yes need option to run as node without exit. Alot of us in the west will run a VPN/tor bridge but not an exit node. too dangerous. We really do live in a police state even though most of us don't know it. Wink
12262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cleanup: I'll attack some coins - I owned APEXcoin for 90 blocks on: January 17, 2015, 10:03:17 PM

Perhaps you read something that I missed then. In his OP he states his reasoning is because of the "quantity" of coins, not the "quality." Personally I see no reason to attack coins, especially ones that meet his own agenda and not the consensus of the entire crypto community. History has shown that most all shit coins will die natural deaths anyway. Let the herd cull itself instead of having some wannabe savior of the crypto world launch attacks on whatever coins he chooses.

The whole point of crypto-coins is that they are safe from doublespend. If someone shows that they aren't, then he is doing a service to the cryptocurrency industry.

Crypto is still in early days. We are building bridges, and it's better for someone to stress test the bridges before they are declared safe for the general population. If these bridges are unsafe, I want to know now (even if I lose some money).

You'll notice that many who are invested in PoS coins want attacks to be attempted. Better it happen out in the open now rather than in secret in the future.

Also, his attacks don't seem to be destroying coins, just showing they aren't safe. No reason coins couldn't shore up their defenses after the attack, and come back stronger.

^^This, I was to lazy to type it earlier. Smiley

I have a valid question, that I'm surprised no one has asked yet. What gives you the right to decide that any coin at all needs to be attacked? It shouldn't matter what your opinion is of any particular coin, there are people who have money tied up in those coins, and you are bragging about having the ability to kill those coins and cause people to lose their money. The fact that you are publicly posting this threat is either incredibly bold, or incredibly stupid.

If however the point you are trying to make is to be some way beneficial to the devs and can be used to strengthen the block chains to prevent attacks like this from happening, then more power to you.

Too many Drama Queens lately.

As nobl has been targeted several Times in the past I would not mind a more secure version such as pos ii

I really think that now would be a good time to open discussion for a custom POW algo again. Or one of the tougher POW algo's that are not cost effective to asic. The POS train really has left the building.

I won't be commenting much anymore but wish you guys the best, I've converted to NOXT and will be holding.
12266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 14, 2015, 08:44:06 PM
I read Sun Tzu The Art of War https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Art_of_War and the concept of ignoring my enemies simply does not appeal to me as a strategy. Here is a quote:
Quote
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/3200649---s-nz-b-ngf It is as relevant today as when it was written several millennia ago.

Edit: The fact that DRK left its flank wide open to a potentially crippling attack by the US Government while XMR did not is something I cannot ignore.

He who waits at the rivers edge long enough will see the bodies of all his enemies float bye.
12267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 14, 2015, 06:00:01 AM
Every person who truly ignores government and all it does, is deadly dangerous to them (typically not at all to himself, nor the others, despite the government's claims to the contrary  Cheesy ), and the network of prisons and mental institutions worldwide is awaiting to store them.

The biggest reason why Monero cannot and will not be the #1 crypto is because it is developed to be 100% anonymous and untraceable. Lawmakers and regulators will not allow something like that to have widespread mainstream use.

Lawmakers and regulators will just legislate and regulate the on and off ramps and the service providers as they are currently doing with Bitcoin, and have done with cash for years.

Anyone who believes that Monero wouldn't be treated much harsher than Bitcoin by governments is delusional.

For instance: Dell, Overstock et al won't be accepting XMR as a payment method. At best it will be used to purchase illegal stuff.

You mean it works kinds like fiat?
12270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.8 Required Update on: January 12, 2015, 09:36:13 PM
I included Dogecoin on www.Buttcoins.com.

Basically the site shows how Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Clam all share the same private keys ("sister addresses per say".)

The site is very much like a free lotto and you'll find that every single DOGE address in existance is listed on the site... it might take a while to sort through them though Wink

I see you "missed" my post.

As you may have already heard, Microsoft is making their .NET Framework's source code open for the public, thus, giving a chance for porting .NET applications to other platforms in the future. That is also a reason behind returning to the development of Monero Client .NET....

.Net was supposed to be platform agnostic on release so I wouldn't hold my breath. Wink

BTW great to see you helping out still. Smiley

Everything is fine. A prolonged lull after a big price increase in Bitcoin land is very normal. Completely expecting enthusiasm for Altcoins to dim for a while but there is no better solution for low prices than low prices. At some point, demand will pick up again, in Bitcoin land and Altcoins.

Not seen that in 2014. More of the opposite.

IMHO 2014 can be directly laid at Willy and Doge's feet.

Willie, Doge, and China

DOH! how did I forget China! Cheesy

I think the bot actually caught up at I got multiple payments in an hour.

AFA security, If your not running server with the setup than you are not providing VPN. and if you are then you should be capable of your own security.

A tutorial to tunnel the VPN through Tor would be a good tutorial to throw a bounty on. Actually a VMWARE image would be the perfect way to go.

..Also, DO NOT PESTER ROFO ABOUT PRICES. It's NOT his job to pump prices for you or artificially raise an asset/coin's value. He has NO obligation to spoon feed anyone profits or 'assure' certain price range. He has already done more than enough to buy back some noxt when people had cold feet (something that he really isn't obligated to do - if you made an investment, it's your job to stick with it).

He is the developer and creator of a concept and initiative. It's YOUR job to promote, talk to people, and bring awareness and widespread adoption of a particular brand of cryptocurrency - appropriately high value and prices will depend on YOUR participation. ...

Yeah all you scumbags who bought only to burn and dump can suck my dick.

I warned to only burn coins bought before the Noxt announcement. I'm not sure if that was the case or not.
12277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: January 11, 2015, 08:13:46 PM

Everyone who wants to help post your skills in here in a single post....

All I can offer is my advice as I have done all along. I don't want to be the I told you so guy, but I warned over and over until my hands hurt that ASIC's would destroy this coin. As did others. I still do not understand why POS was chosen but I acquiesced and supported and watched and tried to hope as I saw this coming from a long way off. Check my posts if you don't believe. It is too late now for a POS switch I think. The support base is too low and we would be 51'd again. It would not go well to be the first 51'd POS coin. I'm really not sure what could be done right now.

But that being said, I support Rofo and Noble 100% as I have from the beginning. I would join a team of brainstormers to find a direction to save this coin.

If the POS is still going forward I would think that the premine could be used as weight to secure the network in the initial phase maybe with a milestone of auto burning (hard coded) as the network grows? Well that is off the top of my head anyway.

I have tons of ideas but I do not throwing them in open forums as people that want to kill this coin monitor this thread. We have the added problem of being small and vulnerable. Yet our strongest point has always been dedication.

And as to disclose, I not longer hold Noble. I burned my small holdings (1.5 mill bought @32 mostly) and plan on holding as Noxt.

OK look guys I apologise. [...] I can't really go anywhere can I. I think we need a power restructuring though to work better together as a community rather than just myself.
Yes, spread the workload!

About the swap to PoS, as an alternative to exchange based, it would be possible to distribute a premine to match current funds for each and every address, with the explorer I could generate a "premine distribution script" that could do it.

This way while the blockchains would be reset, the balances would not be lost, without having to send funds to an exchange, so even people not aware of the swap would not lose funds (they could just copy-paste their old wallet, them do a rescan or import their private keys).
Being a script I can generate it multiple times , for testing or for "real".

If you (as in Rofo + community) are interested in that, just let me know. If that can help cut the switch complexity / cost down... The script would be publicly available for scrutiny of course.

PS: currently 14417 noble addresses hold funds, so a 1:1 distribution with 10 outputs per tx would take a 1442 lines scripts. No particular coding would be needed: the script would just be a list of "noblecoind sendmany" commands, to be run on the wallet of the premine. Remaining premine coins could then be burned or whatever. As a bonus, the distribution of the premine would be in the clear, in the blockchain, rather than in an exchange's private database.
Not saying it's the best option, just saying it's an option you can have for "free".

pretty good idea and it can be combined with a /10 of all coin piles

this would help a lot leaving that single digit satoshi place which is very bad

a few technical questions
so u copy addresses and public keys
what user need to do to get his private keys into the new wallet

a export tool that works offline that export all keys from old wallet.dat and import it into new wallet.dat would be needed i guess
(this tool need a readable sourcecode and crosschecked by multiple people because it must made sure its save to use)

if it would be that easy i wonder why it wasnt done many times before?

Clams has done it so the code is there. DMD team not aware of that? DMD failed Nobl. All I saw from DMD was Marketing bullshit trying to get Noble supporters to throw money at DMD.

DMD is on my shitlist.

I don't blame you for one second. I have watched you try to be a standup guy while the scene shit on you. Unfortunately this scene is rampart with fucking retards that cannot see past their own noses and deserve to be bilked for all their worth.

The exceptions are mostly in Noble BTW
