1241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: December 27, 2023, 08:20:51 PM
I know for sure that if we take periodic account of how many times that we gamble, maybe weekly, monthly or yearly, we'll find out that the loses are far greater than the winnings, so I sometimes wonder how we can be indulging in something that we lose far more than we gain, in the name of having fun.
Do you ask yourself the same thing when you spend money drinking, eating out, hanging around with friends, purchasing fancy accessories you really don't need as basic need and so on? Does it worth to spend money with all these things in name of fun? I think so. Money exists to serve us, and not the opposite. We need money for our basic needs and appointments, but also for our pleasure and satisfaction. If gambling gives you pleasure and satisfaction, it's not an issue if you are losing more money than winning on long run.

Some people weight the pros and cons and still conclude gambling is suitable for them, as they don't feel too attracted by another hobbies people use to enjoy. So let them be happy gambling. It's definitely not a lie to say people gamble for fun, although it depends on which kind of person we are talking about. If the gambler is playing avid for profits, it will be a lie if he says he is gambling for fun, but there are other gamblers who really play for fun. They don't begin their gambling session with fixed goals in mind to be achieved. They let it happen naturally and if it doesn't, they go home peacefully, hoping to have a better luck next day.

Gambling for fun shouldn't be considered a lie, because it's true that gambling can offer us some fun. Same way other utilities make us happy and put us in a good mood. The only pain and difference is that gamblers think money going into gambling is a waste. But, lots of opportunities follow the practice. Gambling is more fun to society and offers players a better lifestyle if they handle their emotions and neglect the aim of earning lots of money through gambling. Those are only a few rewards and must be expected to appear luckily. If we have looked into the process and discovered that the winning and losses don't match, the first mentioned happens less than the later. Those who play strictly for fun don't feel regret and also know the importance of gambling and how it works. The goal of gamblers is to understand the hidden treasures in gambling. How it helps our brain to grow or fail, depends on the thoughts of the player. If he's interested in money his brain could fail him and endanger his future gambling journey. Which is not the right journey for any gambler.

But, those who see the relevant aspect of gambling, will make a fortune out through it, by diverting the ideas gotten through gambling to solve real-life problems. If a player is observant of the results and actions he takes in gambling, he won't have a hard time making the right decisions in life. When a gambler only focuses on money, his only motive would be headed for the big money, and he'll lose out on other important skills one could derive from gambling. This delivers fun to the player, since he's not concerned about money, that only swings the mode of the gambler, especially when he has lost money. Gamblers only need to follow the right choice or lane in gambling that will help improve their view on gambling. Not minding the bad review society points at gambling. It still offers some good qualities and changes in the life of most gamblers.
1242  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How many hours is the best time for a gambler to last while gambling? on: December 27, 2023, 07:10:33 AM
from my experience, there are many factors that influence how long gamblers stay in gambling and most important thing is that it usually all depends on the desires and goals of each gambler.

I often place bets beforehand on slot game, poker and roulette. usually I spend 1 hour to bet on one of these games and it all depends on situation if losing streak I will stop rather than force a bet it better the budget I have to bet next day but if winning streak comes I once spent about 3 hours on a game roulette But as you said, the longer you gamble, the more you lose.
this assumption makes sense because the longer you stay in one of the games, the house edge will beat the gamblers.

but for now, after I feel bored of betting on casino game for at least 10-15 minutes, I feel bored and choose to bet on sports betting without having to waste too much time and choose to do a side job.

The time a gambler should spend while gambling differs per gambler. We know the elasticity of all our actions in life. A person who enjoys video games can stay up to 5-6 hours playing GTA. Gambling works the same way, I prefer a roulette game, it works in a way that I'd spend a good time playing the game, especially when on a good bankroll. Things do change according to the amount of money we own, but the games we enjoy on slots are very addicting because they require not much calculation. However, if a gambler on his leisure chooses to spend time and money gambling, he wouldn't need to bother about time, as he has some left. Hence, it all depends on the schedule of the gambler. Some may get tired along the line, it's true, as gambling takes up brain power and humans can easily get tired after spending time on screen. The players who can stay longer time like 6 hours, need to understand how to split their money while gambling.

The answer to Op's question depends on the amount of money the gambler is ready to lose while gambling. If gambling happened to be a free game that doesn't require money. Most gamblers will gamble at least 5 hours a day. But people may not get addicted to it. Somehow the money we spend while gambling helps in controlling the time, then facilitates addiction. It's hard to comprehend for a layman, but, while money controls time, emotions get affected due to the loss of money. The time a player spends gambling doesn't affect his thinking, but the money. So, some gamblers may have the time, yet no money to continue playing. And another gambler with lots of money to take him 5 hours on gambling, but no time to enjoy his habit. Those who get tired along the line and stop may have been gambling for days and need some rest.
1243  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 26, 2023, 11:57:08 PM
My question now is are there any moral, ethical or legal obligation to bar a person from gambling after physically observing that he is mentally unstable?
Since you've mentioned the guy that didn't dress well, I don't think that this is all about the way he dress for assuming that he's mentally unstable or ill. But going straight to the question without the relation of the story you've mentioned, there's always the ground where the casino can stop someone from entering their premises. If that person does a lot of crazy things inside their premises, they all have the might to stop and ban him whether he is mentally unstable or not. But if it's just by the looks and judging like that, there can be some retaliate that person can do based on how he will be judged by just simply observing it without proper proofs.
If its a physical center of casino gambling can restrict anyone they feel like to stop from gambling, their is something I notice very well in gambling if you mentally derailed their is every possiblity that they will restrict the gambler not gamble with them when they notice, and they can only do so when you come to the gambling centre to obstruct their business, I know very well that if they dont have a genuine reason to ban someone not to enter their premises it will cause a shortage of patronage, that is why some centers of gambling betting environment always compromise with their customers

A gambler that causes trouble in the casino, should be tagged mentally ill and shouldn't be allowed to enter the casino. But if another gambler is safe and doesn't fight or destroy any facilities in the casino, he should be allowed to spend his money. Everyone has their space, and nobody disturbs one another, it's a safe place for every gambler who is qualified by age to participate and enjoy his habit. Hence we shouldn't have a bad time with such people as regards gambling. Whenever a person is allowed by the authorities to enter a place, he has been checked long ago and found worthy of visiting. If not he would have been bounced long ago by the security men. Whether a casino or the government should ban mentally ill people from participating in gambling, is a question that has no direct answer. Since most people who are gambling addicts are indirectly mentally ill. And the government or the casino has done nothing to keep them away from gambling or ban them entirely from the habit.

Government for mentally ill people aims to heal them and recover their senses, to maintain a good and quality society. Mental disorder has different stages, and not until one slaps or smashes his TV sets on the floor that he'll be considered mentally ill. The human brain is suffering each day from challenges that compel it to suffer mental illness. But only the strong can withstand and still hold themselves back from the temptation of getting aggressive on certain matters. But when it gets obvious, the person can be taken to the hospital to receive some injections to help them sleep. And cool their brain. Gambling also leads to mental illness, so, should Op also wonder about banning gambling in countries where youths are going crazily in debt due to problem gambling? With all these odds surrounding gambling, a person or gambler must have done something remarkably wrong to be banned from using gambling. Which may have nothing to do with his dressing.
1244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: December 26, 2023, 11:43:32 PM
Inflicting suffering on other people is the most painful part of gambling addiction. After recovering, he, the gambler will live to regret his actions, as those actions will be cemented in his brain, forever. We don't need to blame them for certain actions, but in a situation of harming a family member to get money to gamble, the gambler needs to be penalized. It has gotten to a bad level of gambling addiction, he won't be able to escape it or change from such a lifestyle. Gamblers need to understand the repercussions of getting too attached to gambling. Newbies can also learn from the mistakes of others. Imagine a situation where an addict won't adhere to treatment or the therapy administered by family members. Fighting against the urge to change, can be wrong, but the addict will believe his actions are right. His brain has been configured to see gambling as the best thing in the world. And any other thing or person who says ill words about gambling in the addict's presence can be annoying to the gambler.

I think the gambler must have the feeling to change before his family can help him out of the addiction. Instead, as you said, the player's family will undergo serious times trying to cure him and it'll be a wasted effort. Trying to force him out of it, can chase the addict away from home to a place that he thinks is safe for him and his thoughts. However, if he runs out of money he'll come back to his family, this time they can utilize the opportunity to talk sense into him about the pain he's not feeling. They feel no pain, mentally disordered people. The people close to him need to help the gambler realize he's undergoing serious pains, on his journey of making huge profits in gambling. Discussion session helps a lot, not allowing him to stay alone all the time, can help in reviving the thought of the addicted person.
Addiction to gambling demands a complex approach. First, we must acknowledge the gravity of the problem. Addiction is a psychological trap, not a choice. Gambling has taken over an addict's brain, making rational decision-making difficult. Empathy and understanding are essential. We cant just condemn their behaviour; we must understand why. Family matters but is complicated. They suffer greatly, but their acts may fuel the addiction. Overbearing or judgemental attitudes might isolate addicts. Its important to support without suffocating. Helping them get professional help while keeping a supportive household is crucial.

Finally, "healthy gambling" deserves more airtime. Responsible gambling is possible. The narrow line between recreational gambling and addiction is difficult to distinguish. Awareness and education are key. Newbies must learn self-control and the pitfalls of overindulgence. Promoting responsible gambling and understanding when to stop.

For this reason, we must know that gambling requires strict orientation. Nothing is wrong with a newbie gambler or experienced gambler to tell their parents or loved ones before deciding on gambling. It's becoming tiring to hear often that gamblers only need help or talk to their loved ones about their problems when they get addicted. It causes lots of problems for the family, as they won't know where to begin, it comes as a shock to them. In most unpleasant cases the gambler already owes a huge amount of money, which the family only discovers when the addiction sets in, while they treat the gambler they sort out his debts as well. Instead of suffering our loved ones, it's important to let them know initially before joining gambling. So, that they'll not be taken by surprise, aside it, the parents can then develop a habit of discussing consistently with the person, to know if he's still in the same reasoning as them, to caution him.

These moves, as mentioned above, will help reduce the rate of gambling addiction. Gamblers now do gambling as if, it's a secret game. They hide it from their family, but let friends know. When the problems arise the addicts now run to family. That's why a good number of family members tend to neglect them and don't' respond to their complaint or help them. You see people act differently, not that these family members who don't want to help a gambling addict, are bad or to be blamed. But they have their reasons, which are the points I just explained above. Only a few will accept their prodigal son and support without suffocating them. It has been made known to a lot of people that gambling correlates with the brain of humans. They need to stay careful and don't hide it. Moreover, gambling is not bad and is not banned in most countries. Why should people hide their gambling habits? Unveiling it will save many people from premature problems in life.
1245  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What I've learned so far as a gambler on: December 26, 2023, 11:18:34 PM
I think that all these bad habits certainly have a bad effect on human health. But many people cannot imagine their life without smoking a cigarette every day. Same with gambling. It was interesting to look at the statistics, but I think that the global gambling turnover is increasing every year. I would like to know how long this will last, because many people end up suffering from the fact that they have lost a lot and after this families break up, and the addicted gambler must be sent for compulsory treatment.

Over my years of gambling, I have understood a lot, but one of the main things is that we and only we control the size of our bet. We are responsible not only for ourselves, but also for our family. Therefore, if we do not limit ourselves in the game and play a responsible game in which we know our loss limit for this evening, then we can call ourselves a weak player who will lose everything in the end. Remember this and learn from the mistakes of other gamblers.

Gamblers need to remember what you just mentioned, as it's crucial to be careful about our family and what they'll feel about us if all the money we have is used for gambling. In life, risk is worth taking, but in gambling when taking risk we need to remember that the outcome would be a lesson to us. Hence the bet should be calculated and handled with care not to hurt us and our loved ones. Life is close to what gambling is in the experiences of man. But the difference is that gambling is hated by nongamblers or society, due to the addicts. Families have suffered losses because of their wards who ended up addicted. Other than that we learn every day through gambling, you've made a nice contribution to what you've learned. Which centers on money management, to be able to handle other financial responsibilities. In my contribution, I'd say that gamblers must follow certain routines like being in control of their decisions. The risk of gambling is the loss of money.

And players want to make it big in gambling, but end up not living a good life at all, after living large. So, instead of failing, being in control reminds us, like the Op said, to stop once in such a condition of trying to chase more wins. This same chase for money has increased the rate of gambling addicts around the globe. With the speed it's moving it'll be hard to come to an end easily. Hence gamblers need to restrict themselves from moving too fast in looking for wealth via gambling. The few wins they see for now are quite great, till they get the bigger win. The problem starts once a gambler begins gambling and insisting on winning the jackpot the same day. Such gamblers won't be able to get hold of their pace, until their whole money is swept by the house. The family of an affected gambler while working on the compulsory treatment needs to stop funding their child, so that they won't continue gambling. Some may be afraid of the risk of taking a loan, but most times parents don't question why their child keeps asking for money more than he used to in the past. Thereby, fastening the pace at which the gambling gets into a more difficult problem gambling.
1246  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can somebody make a successful career in gambling on: December 26, 2023, 10:51:28 PM
The thing is that you don't know when you are going to win.

You can win in your first bet. Or on your 100th, or never.

That's just how probabilities work, you never know what's going to happen, you only know the odds, but the actual results can vary.
Yes, that's true, and it keeps people trying and hoping they can win someday. They may not count how much money they have used to gamble and lost at gambling. They just want to win from gambling. But to get success in gambling is difficult, and we don't know how much money we have to use before we can be successful at gambling. And possibility after possibility of winning will continue to make us try, especially if we still want to achieve that success. We should be able to respond wisely so that we don't experience large losses.

The player has some funds to win through gambling. Unless the casino has no provably fair feature or operates a 100% house edge, the gambler has some percent to win in every $100 they wager in a casino. Depending on how well they try to wager the money. Not talking about a player who wagers his money at once. Those who want to target the reward per $1000 wager, can be staking $50 - $100. Players looking at $100 can focus on wagering smaller amounts like $5 or $10 to enjoy their game till it gets to that threshold. However, it is not made to look this way in the casino, but the house knows a way of rewarding players, to keep them in the casino, thereby making more money for the house. If a gambler doesn't win at all, he won't be energized or motivated to gamble again. So, a gambler who's determined to take gambling as a career must know the house edge and the provably fair of the casino they want to make their office.

It's encouraged that the gambler starts up with a good amount of money and wagers accordingly to extend his days of gambling and increase his possibility of not running out of money. Given time he'll be earning some money to add up his existing bankroll. Thereby enjoying extra days of gambling. If he's well calculative he won't run out of money. But, the player needs to have spent years mastering the act of gambling, to consider gambling a retirement plan or a form of career for the long term. He may not expect to earn more profit, the gambler will not be in profit but can maintain his money not to finish. Moreover, if a gambler is not organized or has the skill to manage his money or be carried away to lose control of his plans, he should venture into such a risky game as a business. But the possibility is there to make a career in gambling.
1247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 26, 2023, 10:29:56 PM
It's true that when one lack knowledge about gambling and feels like he could just engage gambling like that, then he may ended having losses and that alone nay cause him to being depressed and unhappy because he never know and understand the risk in gambling yet, the way such is seing gambling is different from how it appears in reality, this is to encourage us that we need to embrace learning before going ahead in doing anything we so wish to have done in gambling.
Of course we will experience losses in gambling if we do not understand well about the gambling we are playing and also this will make us unable to enjoy the game and also we will suffer many losses in gambling, it is important for us to understand the risks of losses that will occur. We can make mistakes when gambling and it is also very important for us to be able to control our emotions when gambling.
We must understand well the gambling we play and we must also be able to enjoy every game we play because if we cannot enjoy the game, of course we will experience losses in the gambling we play.

Gambling requires knowledge, yes, but it can be grouped under some categories like limitations. A gambler who claims that he owns a pattern or knowledge that guarantees him a sure win is not right. Gambling has no accurate means of winning, regardless of our level of understanding of a game or gambling, generally. The importance of learning in gambling, is to figure out ways of avoiding much loss of money and be able to correct our mistakes. In the case of OP, he happened to be new in the game of black roulette it's acceptable that he needs some knowledge of the game, but it doesn't matter in winning or losing. He could win if he was lucky to play using a machine that was programmed to fetch him some wins after wagering few amount of money. I noticed that the machines determine how we win. In the physical casino, the machine we play with matters, and some pro gamblers have testified that it's crucial to play with one machine and master how it works. But the house also figures this out and reprograms the machine after maybe a week. Not to be on the losing side.

The house and the gamblers are in an endless competition of who is most observant. But, the only casinos may work uniquely, may be it'll be coded or programmed to pay out some amount of money once the player has spent a specific amount while playing the game. So, most gamblers don't understand how the machine works, and for that, they need to be observant of their money, not the machine, instead. At least, saving up money is also part of winning. No need to spend money on a machine one has no prior knowledge about. In a nutshell, the knowledge we need in gambling is broad and should be used accordingly, most especially to suit the house edge. The house needs money and works each day to earn through the gamblers, and the gamblers do their best to earn from the casino too. So, gamblers need to be careful and in control of each action they choose to take while gambling. As it's their responsibility.
1248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: December 26, 2023, 10:03:02 PM
This post is a bit ambiguous, you tell people to stop being addicted to gambling, but you also tell people to have fun while gambling.
What you need to know is that each person's gambling addiction cannot be predicted. There are many people who consider themselves addicted but they only play 2x a week.
There is also the opposite, playing gambling almost every day but not wanting to be considered a gambling addict.

So let them enjoy it, they addicts will have their own way of gambling.
Whether it's when you run out of money or don't have anything or even an internet connection to gamble online.
Because what I understand here is that you are talking about online gambling addiction.
Basically, gambling addiction is a very troublesome thing, especially since it can destroy a person's life. I think gambling addiction can be categorized if someone does it every day and even when they lose continuously and for someone who does it because they want to relieve stress once or twice a week that is not considered a gambling addiction.

Everyone can categorize themselves as being heavy gamblers or not and as long as they fail to control themselves then they are definitely addicted to gambling. However, this does not ignore the fact that sometimes there are gamblers who have run out of money but still borrow money from their friends and that is where the peak of gambling addiction becomes increasingly difficult to stop. So again, being able to stop gambling is something you can do yourself, not someone else.

Stopping or curing gambling addiction needs the collaboration of the addicts to respond to therapy. Like any other sickness, the patient needs to respond to treatment. The same applies to gambling addiction, even though the gambler can't do it alone, if he doesn't want to change or attend therapy sessions, he won't be able to heal or get cured. Addiction works in different ways for people, and the goal for any gambling newbie is to understand that in gambling we all need to remove addiction from our minds. It's fair to be cautious of something, but a person who doesn't think of it or know about it has no reason to be cautious about that same thing. A person may not detect earlier whether he's addicted or not, but along the line, he'll learn that his actions are becoming glued to gambling and he won't control it anymore. Hence, he may not be able to get hold of himself to gamble only two times a week. Provided he has some funds, he'll gamble every single moment.

While those who have no access to money will need to borrow or do some other risky things to generate money for gambling, some addicts who have not gone deep can begin to rethink why they're in a bad financial situation. Luckily, they'll have observant family or spouse who would be concerned about their situation and may begin to question them about their new behavior. Whenever a person's behavior changes people around him notice it and most times neglect to take actions or engage in a discussion that can lead the person to say, unknowingly, what's the problem or makes him transfer aggression to people around him. Indeed, gambling is fun, but addiction spoils the whole concept of gambling. However, it's self-inflicted, nobody is to be blamed for it. The factors leading to addiction, can't be completely known. Most often the actions or habit of the addict aren't their fault. Therefore, whoever is close to an addicted person should take it upon themselves to help the person change.
1249  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips to avoid compulsive thoughts related to anxiety on: December 26, 2023, 09:42:32 PM
Gambling causes anxiety and it leads to fear in the life of the gambler, which is not recommendable for the mental growth of anybody. When a gambler is afraid while gambling or thinks his next result could be a loss or maybe he could get bankrupt due to gambling he's stressing his brain and soon enough he begins to reason like that whenever he gambles or even outside the casino. Hence following some reading procedures works great, because most of the books you listed, Op, recommends visiting a professional like a therapist to help change the gambler from struggling with anxiety. A good percent of gamblers are stressed each day, and feel this same fear of losing out money, and when faced with the losses they won't face the defeat and stop or go home, instead they go on to get back their money out of fear. What fuels this attitude should be elaborated more.

Does it mean the brain is getting comfortable with being afraid or uneasy about the results the gambler gets while gambling? A gambler is afraid of losing money, which leads to anxiety. When he loses the money, leads to addiction. When addicted leads to no fear of losing money. He gets used to the anxiety and is not bothered about what outcome of gambling he gets. Hence, he gambles regardless of the fear or pain, he only has one motive, winning a huge amount of money. It seems to me that the process revolves and gets to a point that may have been a good decision if the gambler was wise enough in the beginning stage not to be afraid of losing in gambling, then back it up with money management. Maybe have other reasons for gambling. Anxiety doesn't allow the gambler enough time to think, he only reasons the fear in him, then makes a series of mistakes out of fear. CBT I think requires a second party that will guide the addict to focus on doing his assignments or other things that may distract him from gambling.
1250  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Gambling Affiliate Program Problem on: December 26, 2023, 09:21:20 PM
No need, OP, to claim that you don't know the reason why you're earning a little revenue from your affiliate program. It's not a thing to raise an alarm for, provided that you are not referring lots of people to use the casino, and if they're wagering a smaller amount of money, then there'll be no need to expect a huge amount of money through an affiliate. On the other hand, an affiliate program requires money to run ads and promotions to reach out to lots of gamblers and as well high rollers. I like affiliate programs because of their result in the life of the marketer. At some point in the life of affiliate marketers, they won't have a reason to work again. Money now works for them while they sleep. For such a job or task, it's not a short-term investment. So, choosing a strong casino that has endured time, is the best idea. It'll be saddening to hear that the casino you've been running an affiliate for is no longer active.

That would be years of wasted effort. To make money in an affiliate program, set up a gambling blog, and target audiences from countries like Australia, the USA, Canada, etc. Any country you know has some interest in gambling, target them in your ads or SEO technique. Buy some backlinks from these countries and post relevant and quality content each day. See it as a long-term investment, that'll later on pay you lots of money, and may not need you to work again. Pro affiliates spend thousands of dollars to garner clicks to their affiliate link. It's very lucrative work for internet marketers to earn big in affiliate programs. Companies use this method to employ independent advertisers to help promote the company for a reward. I've read of pro affiliate marketers being invited by the company to visit the headquarters as appreciation for being the highest earners. Some of them earn more than the company's staff. Op only needs to understand how affiliate programs work, and sticking to one company can be faster in achieving results, compared to moving from one affiliate program to another.
1251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Gambling affect your relationship? on: December 26, 2023, 08:55:20 PM
That's a problem often faced by gamblers. They often exceed their limits in gambling, causing disturbances to them and their families. Whether this is due to the use of money that exceeds the limit or the length of time, they gamble and don't do anything else
anything you are doing in life, will affect on you positively or negatively. nothing wrong in doing gambling untill anyone become so addicted and doing such thing aggressively all the day. addiction will lead you towards many bad habits and i saw lot of stray, broken relationships due to gambling habits. Gambling shouldn't be selected as main income source but sometimes people do so even they spend all of their monthly salary or monthly income in gambling and then a person can't be normal due to financial instabilities emotional turmoil as op said which could affect relationships badly between couple, between friends and family. So a person should be stricked enough about such matters

Such players are driven by the hope that everything will change. And indeed their lives are changing, but not for the better. All this happens because avid gamblers, who have seen victories, have a devaluation of money in their minds. They understand that sometimes casinos share money and why work at a full-time job if you can get money through slot machines? or batting for example.
And money should always be appreciated and understood that free cheese is in a mousetrap.

The most expensive things on earth are those we get free, but the money we gain through gambling is not free. Somehow the gambler pays to get the win. However it's not the main motive of gambling, though, many gamblers have turned it into their most important motive of venturing into gambling. In life, we have to spend or lose something for another, so gambling can affect our relationship in some ways that we may not describe. Gamblers would think that it's only when they're addicted that people or loved ones would get upset about the gambler's habit. However, I realized that by focusing on gambling and doing it consistently, even when not addicted, the gambler's spouse can get angry and begin to complain about it. Especially if the girl came from a family that doesn't accept gambling no matter the odds. While the gambler in the response by summonerrk, may be seen as the one people would hate, can be lucky to end up with a loving spouse, who will stand by them and try to change them for good. I'd always say that gambling works for people differently, same with luck. Gambling doesn't end in the casino alone, whatever thing happening in the life of a gambler should seem to him as gambling.

We can't predict those who will get sad or upset of our mistakes. Same way our results in gambling are not predictable, that's how people in relationships can't be known to go or stay if their friend, goes astray due to gambling addiction. A member of the forum once testified in his response that his girlfriend stood by him during his struggling days with gambling addiction. Which helped him to survive problem gambling to date. He wasn't just addicted, he lost all his money in gambling. One would say or think that every woman would abandon such a man. But the opposite happened. That's why we can't conclude whether gambling can break every relationship. It's all about the rapport between the people in the relationship. Gambling addiction is fast cured through this relationship, but because the gambler is now toxic or low on money, people close to him, who are his best therapists, begin to let go of him, penalizing his actions and making him suffer more in the future.

~snip~
I remembered a moment from the movie Molly's Game. There, one day an old and calm professional player came to Molly Bloom’s club and decided to play poker. There were other players sitting at the table who played well, but there was one who played terribly, he played with different cards and placed different bets. So this old pro started losing hand after hand to this amateur. This happened all the time, the other players even started laughing at this situation. All these reasons caused his tilt and he lost everything completely. Then he borrowed more money and lost it.

This situation showed how a professional player sinks to the bottom. I liked how it was shown in the film, I think in reality there were many such situations. I would call this a guide for professional players. If they feel that they are sinking to the bottom, they should remember this part of the film, it will probably stop them.
As a professional, he should not have been triggered by his emotions due to his loss. As a professional gambler, he knows what to do when he has lost more than 4 times and must be able to stop himself from gambling. Unfortunately, he didn't think about it and instead continued gambling, and in the end, he lost and lost everything. In gambling, when someone has experienced more losses, his emotions will be triggered and can make him lose his mind. That will make him want to recover his losses because, in his mind, he will think that a novice gambler can't beat him, especially since he already has more experience than a novice gambler.

And finally, it really happened when he experienced loss after loss, which caused him to lose everything and even have to borrow money. It will also not give him a chance to win the game because when a person is in high emotions, he will not be able to think clearly, and his gambling game will become random.

He only got moved by the fact that he can't lose to a novice, as you said. That's the fall of most men today, believing that some people can't be better than them in their field. Gambling is not a game where we'd be moved by the reactions of people around us, like in the story, the man was bothered by the laughter of those around him. He wasn't prepared to face the shame and, hence preferred to lose more money to cover for it, thereby chasing loss. The story is nice and also helps to prove that some professional gamblers can still get addicted to gambling. Because at some point, they won't be able to control their emotions and make a series of mistakes, without knowing or being aware of it. We all have different motives and our actions change each day of the gambling session. The game can change, and the results may seem promising, so the gambler may play reluctantly, trusting that he will win, just in a few predictions.

A professional can be challenged with such a situation, where he thinks it's his day and nothing can stop him from seizing the opportunity. Not realizing that no gambler has a day. Outcomes or results change, hence nobody is entitled to winning, alone. A newbie can win more than a pro, someday. Those who gamble because others did, will deceived into thinking that if a newbie wins, while won't there win also. In the process, they'll end up losing all their bank roll and rush to take loans to gamble, like in the case of the man in the movie, illustrated above. Once it gets to taking a loan the gambler is close to becoming addicted, as he can't wager games with his full mind anymore. He will play to gain back enough money to fund or pay back his debts. Therefore, putting himself in a more severe problem, all because of a mistake he made out of ego or trying to prove that he's a competent gambler. Anybody can get addicted, not minding his level of gambling knowledge, pro or new.
1253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shorter the time you spend the better on: December 26, 2023, 07:38:07 PM
Shorting your play time in gambling is the best strategy in gambling, apart from knowing how to manage your bankroll, don't spend too much time on a casino game, the longer the time you spent the more you lose, this is the truth that many gamblers won't accept at first until they realize it later.
That's true. Because in order to play longer, a gambler needs a decent bankroll (unless you're lucky to win and never got busted early). Every time I gamble, I have a set budget and that's the only amount that I should use in playing. If I lose early, there's no extension and I have to stop. But sometimes I was able to play for like an hour or two because i'm lucky in the game that I chose.

It's fine to stay long if you're still using your set budget and not keep on depositing just to sustain your eagerness to keep playing. Discipline and self control are important so you won't go beyond your limit.

The time duration works for many gamblers, but to some it's quite difficult to maintain the urge to gamble a high amount of money, expecting to gain huge returns. Hence, it'll be hard for such gamblers to stay active in gambling or reduce how much they spend on gambling, regardless of how long they're spending each gambling session. Most gamblers lack these factors and don't need to follow such routines, they are meant to learn discipline skills and self-control. Because a gambler can decide to spend his money at once, so it's important to know the need to be knowledgeable about the effects of some gambling techniques. Some of the strategies we discuss may not be useful or work for all gamblers. For it to work we need to know ways to make it work for us, as gamblers. A gambler that chooses to gamble for a short period, must be ready to wager a small amount of money. So that they can detect earlier on when they're spending lots of money in the process and then stop.

The only important aspect of shorting the time we spend on gambling is the need to rethink our next gambling moves. Because a player who gambles for a long time wouldn't be able to think of his mistakes. But in terms of money, the effect is quite different per gambler. We need to understand that gamblers have unique motives and some addicted players don't need to waste time gambling. They may think that it doesn't matter how long you spend. The aim is to wager a high amount, whatever the result they'll move on with it, win or lose. While the strategy is worth being among the cool gambling strategies, players also apply it with caution. Money management is what helps in saving money for gamblers to play for some time and stop. Gambling doesn't restrict or have a fixed price, gamblers have the privilege to spend any amount of money in one game. Which makes the idea of playing for a short time to save some money for gambling is not completely true.

1254  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should mentally unstable people be allowed to gamble? on: December 26, 2023, 06:24:24 PM
Not everyone who is well-dressed is mentally stable. Some addicts are mentally unstable, without noticing it, despite being well-kept and feeling in control of their actions. The man in your story is not causing any trouble to anybody in the gambling house, he is only not well dressed. Which is not anybody's business, provided that the gambling attendant is comfortable with him, no problem.
It is not only about the gambling agent but also about the other people that are gambling there. There is no problem if other people are not complaining about him. Not to be well dressed in public can make some people to know that he is mentally unstable and not like to go to the gambling place because of that but they will complain before not going. I think it is a betting agent place and it will not take more than 2 minutes that the mentally unstable person will spend to place bets and that gives him advantage.

Secondly, he's not begging for money or aggressively disturbing his parents for gambling funds, like many other gambling addicts who suffer mental disorders do to their loved ones. He's doing his job and maybe may have been conditioned the way he looks due to the kind of work he does.
He has no job. People are using his condition to give him money.

I don't know if you're aware of the person Op is describing in his thread, but from what I read which led to my response, Op said he does a manual job. I'm not in Op's location nor do I know the man, so not in the right place to push further with your response, which says he has no job. However, he doesn't have a job, I mean continuing from your response, I have things to add. A beggar that uses his money to gamble, I think is deceiving the society or not in deep need to be a beggar. For a person to beg, he has nothing, no food, no family to provide for him, etc. It's not common to find a beggar who uses charity from others to gamble, maybe he's not comfortable with what the people are giving him or is turning begging into a full-time job. People who are worried about the dressing of another person in a specific environment don't understand the differences in people.

Personally, looks and dress shouldn't bother people. Their business there is to book games and go, and if they're not comfortable with the type of people visiting the gaming house they can stop going as you said. Which shouldn't be a problem for the agent. The customers there must find a fault, regardless. Finding a fault from another customer as a reason to stop patronizing the agent should also be tagged a personal problem or lack of emotional intelligence provided the customer isn't aggressive, fighting, or destroying their property. What matters is the serenity of the environment. How would you feel if in a barber shop, you walked in and found the same man being barbed in the same seat you'd sit next to Barb, would you leave the environment or not? I'm asking this to be able to understand your behavior toward such people, not just about what other people would do or say. I'm not sure if you are close to Op or have seen the man in his story.

Quote from: Su-asa
Why because they can't control themselves, even when they are not an addicted gambler?
Is like you don't know what addicted is all about OP, because anything you are doing in life and you want to quit from such thing and you still find yourself doing it show that you are addicted such behavior in the society and you need a psychologist to help you out before it will lead you to destruction. But if you are not addicted to gambling, I guess is very easy for you to stop gambling by avoiding those things that is leading you to gambling and, with time you will begin to cope without gambling from your environment.

Don't be addicted to gambling, so that if you want to leave gambling will be easy for you to quit gambling by having some budget in your daily or weekly gambling whether you win from your bet or you don't win from your bet you will not gamble above your budget which is the best way not to be addicted to gambling in the community.

Op is saying something contradictory, but he's saying out of his view on gambling and why some people can't leave. He's never been in a situation like this and has not helped someone else escape addiction. Hence Op is not fit or the right person to send out such a message to gamblers. His view only shows how other nongamblers would think of gambling addiction. They'll look at it as the addict's fault and also, he, the addict, is not interested in changing. Not knowing that it's not in the gambler's jurisdiction to change. The same type of people also blame gamblers, like Op is trying to say in his way that it's the gambler's fault to remain in gambling, despite losing money. I'd say that gamblers are humans and deserve love, it's not common for somebody to stick to something that's eating up his time and wealth. But, their loved ones, fail to conclude that these people don't understand or feel what's happening in their life.

For instance, a mentally ill person doesn't feel any pain, whenever s/he sustains injury. Meaning that the part of the brain responsible for indicating or reminding the brain about an injury may have been damaged or is not responsive. Gambling addicts also undergo the same problems. If nobody is present to stop them or control their ill behavior they'll never change or have a rethink. Stopping gambling won't be easy for them as it's not putting them into any type of pain directly. Rather his loved ones are enduring the pains on the gambler's behalf, which may be the anger of OP. He is concerned about the pain the addict is sending out to his parents or loved one. The society is angry with them and blames them for not being in control or trying to end the problem. Yes, it's tiring and at some point, we'll blame them for the suffering they're causing their loved ones, but that doesn't help any gambler heal. A good relationship heals them, instead.
1256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Most gamblers do not believe they can consistently make money, that's why... on: December 25, 2023, 08:39:11 AM
If you don't have enough money to gamble and sustain your needs then it is something that you couldn't pull off.
The way I see it making a living from gambling or trading needs a huge amount of capital because we all know that we wouldn't always get a profit from it, we couldn't guarantee a consistent income from it.
There would always be a time that we would lose or couldn't make anything from it.
We are discouraging others to gamble or trade because not everyone is cut off to be in that profession or consider it as their main job.

Gambling can be enjoyable, but it's important to be aware of the risks involved. Just like drinking alcohol, it's easy to become addicted and end up losing a lot of money. To avoid any negative outcomes, it's important to set limits on how much money you're willing to win or lose while gambling. Remember, gambling should not be seen as a source of income because luck is not always on our side. Some people tend to bet higher amounts than they can afford, thinking they can consistently make money from gambling, but this is not a sustainable way to gamble. By setting limits, you can stay in control and prevent any problems from arising.

It's a fact that gamblers cannot win consistently, no need to believe, as Op said. The results we see people post is as a result of long-time involvement in gambling. Then they get a reward, which covers their losses and encourages them to gamble more. These days we need to note the importance of gambling in different ways. Gambling is not a means of earning morning all the time. We need to follow some routine as gamblers to enjoy gambling. Good you compared gambling to alcohol addiction. This plays in similar ways, without gambling being a substance that we inhale or take into our body system, it has some effects on the brain still. A gambler who follows the advice of OP, who only said this due to the way he's seeing people win in gambling but doesn't refer to his personal experience, would be undergoing some problem gambling.

Those who have such belief and trust in gambling need to change their perspectives and gamble for other good things gambling can offer which can yield us money in the outside world. Money management, critical thinking, and self-control, all consist of those skills we can learn in gambling and implement it in another part of life and earn money. CEOs and top managers in the USA, mostly gamble to obtain these skills and use them in their companies or businesses to outsmart other competitors in their field or niche. Hence, it's crucial that other gamblers also learn from these strategies. Since the odds are against the gambler luck is not mainly on the side of the gambler, but the house. Gamblers should look into what else to gain through gambling other than money. While waiting for any day luck appeared to be on their side, the gambler should enjoy the process. That doesn't mean the player should be reckless, he still needs to have time management skills in controlling how long he spends each day gambling.

1257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lack of proper knowledge on casino games increases chance of loss and reduce fun on: December 25, 2023, 08:07:47 AM
I agree that it reduces fun when we are lack of proper knowledge in gambling.  It is important to know how casino games work and should be observed to find helpful tips or even tricks to increase the odds of winning. It is also worth noting that casino games depends on our luck and superstitious beliefs won't work with it. The only way we can lower the loss is to put a limit on each bets. Being a responsible gambler is a must and should be taken into account in each and every one of us who gamble.

In some scenarios, the gambler, despite having little or no knowledge of gambling will still gamble and win. Gambling can be called a lucky game because even inexperienced people can come for the first time and win. The way the gambling house operates can't be predicted, that's the main part of gambling people need to consider. However, highly experienced gamblers with lots of skills and strategies still lose out in their gambling predictions, after spending so many hours and time on gambling. Hence the knowledge we gain about a specific game matters in the long run, but doesn't make much sense compared to the results we get in gambling. However in games like the black roulette game, you also need some experience to win, due to the way the game is programmed. It's hard to predict a single number out of all the 38 pockets present in the table. But, taking the risk is worth it, for some, as the returns are always high and big in number.

Regardless of the amount of money you wager, the win will be significant compared to the other methods used to increase your chances of winning in gambling. Next time, Op, if you may, try to choose the larger boxes consisting of the color red or black. It's easier to win, predicting that the ball stops on any red or black pocket. Sometimes choosing some number interval also helps us to win in black roulette games. But, whatever you do, use a small amount to play black roulette chasing losses in the game doesn't provide enough possibility of winning. It's also worth noting that 0t3p0t is right with his idea of being a responsive gambler, not rushing your decisions, closely observing the moves of the ball, it's a simple game and requires strong predicting skill at some point to win big using black roulette. Playing demo is a great means of learning black roulette games, but don't be deceived by the wins you see while playing demo. Don't allow it to push you to gamble prematurely on the main game.

He's doing his job and maybe may have been conditioned the way he looks due to the kind of work he does. Men are men, and their personalities should be respected, so far he respects himself and the people around him. Don't know how people around your vicinity judge people who are mentally ill, only through their looks? dressing, hairstyle, shoes, etc.

The world gets funny each day, does it mean that if a well-dressed person putting on a Rolex and nice shoes walks into the gambling house and starts to destroy things or yell at the gambling attendant, he'll be tagged drunk or normal because he's putting on some expensive perfumes. However, I understand your point, gambling can affect them more and they'll find it difficult to heal. But with the behavior of the man, as you illustrated, he shouldn't be barred from using the gambling house. He is like any other gambler, who gambles with their hard-earned money. If he wins a jackpot the casino betting platform will pay him big, not minding whether he's well dressed or not. I was having a conversation with a friend yesterday on a similar matter, how society neglects such people, which may lead them to gambling as a form of fun. Society cares about well-dressed people alone, whether mentally ill or not.  Grin
1259  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: December 25, 2023, 07:20:30 AM

There's no easy way if that gambler already suffering with too much addiction, they will just keep playing for more putting their finances at risk,  there's nothing in there minds
But just to keep satisfying their gambling activities, most of the time,  those people already forget about their love ones and they are willing to submit everything inside gambling to please the desire that they are getting from this venue of entertainment.

Yes, it's true, it's very difficult to get out of addiction quickly, even though you've been given good understanding and advice from the people around you, it's not certain that you'll immediately recover and come to your senses because if you don't. really believe and try to heal from within his own conscience, then any efforts to cure the addiction will be in vain.

And as a result, if someone is truly addicted to gambling, he will only care about himself rather than thinking about the feelings of other people around him with the aim of ensuring that his satisfaction and desires are fulfilled, and this will be very fatal. if left alone because it's not just him who suffers, but other people. The people around him or even his family will also experience downturns in their lives.

1260  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: December 25, 2023, 06:55:15 AM
It's vital to acknowledge the risks associated with gambling as a means of earning additional income. Relying on luck can be unpredictable, and it's wise to consider more stable sources of income like a regular job. Using one's capital is certainly a prudent approach to managing the potential risks involved. Exploring alternative avenues for additional income, such as investing or developing new skills, could also be worth considering.

And providing loan to a gambler who came to situation like this is so risky since they would not provably ask for loan if they are fine so for sure those lenders who put a trust with these guys will surely get disappointed with the result since that gambler might default on the loan he take especially if he lose to much and can't recover to situation he experience.

I guess exploring alternative  avenues for additional income will not be their solution since most of those guys especially those who experience addiction have more time to spend on gambling sites rather than seeking an opportunity since they might find it not entertaining and they are so much hooked with playing on the games they are more interested on.

Another source of income may not be possible for an addicted gambler. The only process is to stop lending him some money. Because he'll be having some difficulty with paying the loan. In the context of Op's thread, I'd say that it's not safe for a person to finance a gambler, hoping for a big win. Even in Forex, the risk of such things will end up in regret. No need to ask for another person to take care of the expenses of a gambler while gambling. I think gamblers should focus more on the journey and don't involve people to help them with funds. If that happens the gambler won't have any reason to look for money elsewhere except his own money. Most people when entitled to their friend's money may be gambling recklessly, with the hope that they'll talk to their friend to give them some funds. Whatever, requires a third party in gambling is not comfortable with me, it's between the gambler and the house.

If a gambler's money finishes, he should stop gambling and focus on other things. But, in the brain of the gambler, it's not simple to see a gambler who stops after losing all his money. The addiction creates more opportunities in the player's brain, to look out for means of earning money. That's why a good number of gamblers do the wrong thing to gamble. Most times the avenue they explore is mainly illicit, endangering the life of the gambler and his family in the long run. Because once he can't pay his debts, the gambler's family may be compelled to clear it on behalf of the gambler. The process now gets harder for the gambler and his loved ones. Such gamblers who don't mind managing their funds, even when equipped with a good paying business or work, they'll lose out on it and crumple the business. It's quite a tough experience to see gambling as a way of earning money. The game may offer wins, but the thoughts can be damaging to the wealth of inexperienced gamblers.
