12421  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you keep your mnemonic phrases? on: April 19, 2018, 03:49:34 AM
But how you will identify it if you are about to retrieve the wallet? You have to put some hint of doing this. This came to my mind but I'm very easy to forget and my memory doesn't works well now.
The "story" part gave me an idea. Maybe it can be encrypted into a poem that can be then memorized. Would be longer but seems easier to memorize than a random sequence of words. Thanks for the suggestion.
Wooah I remember someone suggested and created this type of encryption to his private key. Making a story with the use of your private keys will give confusion if someone accidentally sees your PK's. Thanks for reminding me about this type of sequence and the story thing.  This is familiar to me and it's a good way to protect it that way, you don't have to memorize it you only need some hints on what are the most important words.
Mnemonic is an unencrypted private key. If it's discover by unauthorized parties, then they can have complete access to it. The following are the key points to remember.

1. Back up mnemonic immediately, when you create a wallet in imToken
2. Copy mnemonic on a piece of paper, don't use screenshots.
3. Ensure the mnemonic is correct, you can check out by Myetherwallet.
4. Keep your mnemonic safe when you save it.

Anyone who discovers the phrase can steal the bitcoins, so it must be kept safe like cash. Never type it on a website.
You miss our little discussion. Before telling us on what we should you at least read on what we are talking about the encryption thing and by the way of hiding PK's through making a "story" type which is composed of those words. Maybe you just misquote our conversion mate but we are on bitcoin discussion and MEW is an altcoin so you better put that piece of advice on the Altcoin Discussion if someone asks on how he can keep his mnemonic phrases on MEW.

-snip-
If we intend to hit the jackpot and hunt it all the time, then we can get depressed soon or later. The chance to hit the jackpot is very low and as I know the lucky one with the jackpot is usually due to a coincidence factor.
The chance is lower than 1% and if the intention is to hunt it, you'll get failure. I know there's no harm in trying but it depends on how much the money you'll allocate and start as your bankroll. Coincidence and being simply lucky is the key to hit the jackpot. I wouldn't someone to chase the jackpot, gamble as it is and don't expect too much so when the surprise comes you'll get what you wish for.

If I won a jackpot price
The question is did you hit a jackpot once?
12425  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How much do Cointelegraph and Coindesk cost for press release or articles? on: April 19, 2018, 01:12:05 AM
Then I've got a friend who says in Cointelegraph 80K USD for a package of 6 coverages. It's expensive!
That's damn sweet and expensive. I've seen a guy on Services who is offering that they will work and post your article on different news website.

Contact psybits. Ask him how much it is with coindesk.

12426  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Escrows - Trade Safely! on: April 19, 2018, 12:44:13 AM
why is it still needed to use Escrows
Very simple to avoid scammers.

We are living in the digital era and there's no assurance that you can trade safely with a random guy unless he has a pretty history of trade. And in real world, there's also escrow services from the banks.

Is these kind of service available?
I guess so, if I recall there's some email verification service on the proper section.

Are you sure we need the mobile number to create new Gmail?
When I registered my gmail it required me a mobile number to verify the code from them.

@OP Everyone's curious on what you are going to do, can you share it to us?

What's the specs of your old computer?

Even in nice hash mining also you will find the profit more the direct pool mining.
I'll stay away on nicehash if I'm about to mine.  Roll Eyes I'm not holding electroneum and I don't know if its legit they promoted mobile mining before, I'm just reading the discussion below the link.

Never won to jackpot but I'm still trying my luck if its possible for me to win the jackpot. The more that I'm focusing of hitting the jackpot, the harder it goes so I'm not focusing it anymore but still I want to win.

Personally I'm never hit jackpot or won from lottery because my focus is not there.
Same as mine but there is nothing wrong if there are times that we are wishing to hit it. I want to hit the jackpot soonest.
I think it would really be just luck because if you take into account what you are doing, then it's less likely to happen. Even in other things, you are experiencing that. I know i did and it's best to not think too much about the jackpot unless you already hit the jackpot win. We all want that to happen to us Wink
I know the chance is that low and its likely not going to happen. I'm not thinking about any jackpots but I want to hit it accidentally, like as if I don't really want to hit it but if fate let it come then I'll be one of the happiest person on Earth. Experiencing a jackpot will also give me a feeling that I've been waiting for.

You know it's like a dream come true.
It would really be great to hit something like that because it's almost every time where you don't expect to hit it but then hit the jackpot if you have already did. It is definitely a dream come true because it wouldn't be really easy to have that amount of money, depending on the prize that you are going to collect.
Hitting the jackpot without expecting it is precious. I know it is not going to be easy and it's tough to hit the jackpot but again I say that I'm not thinking about it anymore. So if by chance that I hit a jackpot, it's a dream come true and it will definitely boost my confidence that I'm still with luck. Watching those other gamblers on leader boards who are hitting big sums of jackpot and not even the jackpot but with bigger stakes is really encouraging to experience even one of it.
12431  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you keep your mnemonic phrases? on: April 16, 2018, 04:54:57 PM
I don't know any cryptography but I'm thinking of shuffling the words rather than writing them down in order.
But how you will identify it if you are about to retrieve the wallet? You have to put some hint of doing this. This came to my mind but I'm very easy to forget and my memory doesn't works well now.

I think it would finally be safer to keep digital copies of it. Any suggestions?
Keeping to a laptop that isn't in use anymore and you are the only one that can access that laptop will make it secure. Keeping some back up with a flash drive that's dedicated to be a storage of your private keys only.
12432  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: thinking quiting after lose on gambling. on: April 16, 2018, 04:32:30 PM
Best feeling ever when I'm butt hurt and I keep on losing, I'm telling to my mind that I'll stop and nothing is happening good so I have to quit forever. But I don't know when I'm sitting on my computer, I can't remove the casino's that are bookmarked on my browser so the temptation is there and I'm eating my words for saying that I have to quit forever but later on I just found myself playing dice.  Grin
Silly me.

You are just like most of us, a normal person. People get attached to things and can't quit. I have the same feeling with online games that I keep losing at and still can't uninstall. Or with that alcohol that I sometimes drink too much of.
Gambling is a typical addiction, a habit that we want to remove from our memory, but can't.
You said online games? Oh well I'm struggling right now on my favorite game and I kept losing. These things are serious and it is totally addiction and the same with gambling. My favorite game dice and online game are all related to gambling so when I'm butt hurt I keep on doing it repetitively, I just can't help myself.

it must be like that, to calm yourself from losing continuously, and clear your mind, while thinking of a good strategy for the future in order not to get defeat again continuously
To think clearly is my problem, when I'm in such situations I can't help but to think rapidly even its out of this world and loses my control.

12434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoin or ethereum ? on: April 16, 2018, 02:45:46 PM
Is now the Right Time to Invest in Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Should I Stay Away?
The crypto market is now bleeding again so this is the right time to invest to both bitcoin and ethereum. You can also add other altcoins if you wish but to focus with bitcoin will be the best idea of investing to cryptocurrencies. We all know that bitcoin is the sole attraction for the crypto's and if you haven't got bitcoin yet then you are missing something.

I think eth is better for you to invest now. with the success of eth, eth able to raise the price up to 100% and currently eth price is experiencing descendant price and this is your chance to invest it
You can say this the same thing to bitcoin too.
12435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Soros is getting into crypto! on: April 14, 2018, 11:19:33 AM
Soros etc. investor masses seem to have created a positive atmosphere in entering the market
They did created a positive encouragement or maybe they are really the one who are responsible for the quick pump that happened.

but I think we will see fluctuations in the long run under the influence of more speculative movements. I hope this does not cause any more insecurity.
Insecurity has been there so expect that there are people who will statement that bitcoin is still a risky investment. These people are really crazy even many are trusting bitcoin now.

12438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will hit 25k by the end of this Year? on: April 13, 2018, 10:59:39 AM
Crypto Bull Tom Lee has declared that Bitcoin will hit 25k this year!
Don't worry Guys! as yesterday bitcoin has jumped to a record-breaking volume within two hours.

We will reach to the Moon!

Have faith.
I believe on what he is saying, he's from Wall Street you know? People from Wall Street are giving financial advises and whenever someone from there talks about bitcoin negatively people are so gullible to believe him. And at this matter why we shouldn't believe him by being positive to bitcoin? He has points and look at the process and results, there is proof that he's talking with sense.
12439  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Shyness in gambling on: April 13, 2018, 10:39:26 AM
I think we don't have to feel shy when we are playing gambling and we can play gambling online in our room so no other people will know what we did.
No need to feel shy if you are gambling in the proper way, your money is at stake and not the money of others. The only thing that affect us as gamblers is there are beliefs that when they here the word gambling, they are thinking negative already.

and this is what I do when I want to play gambling, I open the site in my room and playing the games and when somebody coming to my room, I can close the tab of the game and pretend I don't do anything except browsing only Grin
This is the convenient that we can get in gambling online now, we can peacefully gamble at our own comfort zone.

I think I can hide my activity in gambling games and so far, I can play gambling without anyone know.
It's anonymous so its favorable to us.
12440  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Low activity long term BTC investing? on: April 13, 2018, 10:05:17 AM
My final thought was lending my funds to an existing loan service for a small return, which sounded good idea first... but I couldn't find a loan service that seems to be short on funds  Undecided
You can create your own loan service thread but you have to work for it and choose those borrowers that are really paying. There's no easy money in this world and even in cryptocurrencies.

Anyone got other ideas that will  get me some revenue without having to spend much time following up with it? something set & forget for couple months (maybe check once every month or two)?
HODLING will be your last choice if you don't want to spend too much time.
My problem (far as I thought) with making my own lending service (other than time), is my current reputation in the forum, what would make someone trusted take a loan from me instead of taking it from a more trusted existing loaning service?? the start will be pretty hard to get reputable members, and my service thread (just as with other threads) will probably be filled with users trying to scam.
If you don't have any reputation as of now and you are trying to start your own lending service, try to look for people who are trusted and wants to take loan from you. And of course you need to ask a valid collateral so that you will be secured too depending on the amount you'll lend so that scammers can't take your money and just go away. But if you are too worried of lending then just hold your bitcoins so that you will be safe.
