12581  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Yobit don't want anyone out of their site? (Wallet status: Maintenance) on: May 19, 2018, 12:53:12 AM
~
Yobit's differential is the number of shitcoins that they accept. If go to the Altcoins board and take a look at some of their ANN threads, you will see that 90% of them are listed in the Yobit exchange. I imagine that most bounty hunters that accumulate those shitcoins use Yobit to make a quick buck (besides maybe pumping and dumping those shitcoins).

But if you are using Yobit as your main exchange to trade BTC/BCH/ETH/any legit coin that is available somewhere else, then you are making a big mistake.

I remember some guys from my local community trading a local altcoin there before Yobit put the wallet in "maintenance mode" for more than 4 months and locking their coins there. I don't know if they recovered their coins later, but this is a good enough reason to stop using Yobit.
12582  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 100USDT to withdraw USDT from HitBTC on: May 19, 2018, 12:29:54 AM
With HitBTC, fees are calculated upon the network load. We aim to make sure our users' transactions are confirmed in the network and delivered to their destinations promptly.

Besides, any cryptocurrency exchange features a complex combination of processes that uses the blockchain a lot. Meaning that withdrawal fees include some of intermediary fees paid on the exchange side for moving your funds. That's the reason why fees related to withdrawing coins from an exchange can be slightly higher than regular network fees in your wallet.
Just "slightly higher than regular network fees"?

Bitcoin fees are baring 1-2 sat/byte (less than ~$0.1), while your exchange is charging 80 times (~$8) for Bitcoin withdrawals and $100 for USDT withdrawals (100 times). No one will swallow that excuse.
12583  Other / Meta / Re: Smart copypasters, what to do with them? on: May 18, 2018, 10:50:46 PM
There is not much we can do. Just report it whenever you see a post like this.

Does this behaviour deserve a ban?
Without a doubt. It's still plagiarism.
12584  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Will Bitcoin be used easily in real world purchases soon? on: May 18, 2018, 10:21:03 PM
Many.

There are tons of merchant processors like BTCPay, Bitpay, Coinbase, Coinpayments and many more... You could also do by yourself without any 3rd party with Bitcoin libraries that generate addresses, or just giving your Bitcoin address to the buyer, etc... Anyways, there are tons of things you can do/use to accept crypto payments. It's not hard. We just need to make merchants accept those methods of payment.

Now I still would like to learn about PGP keys and how to sign it, but I don't know good tutorials about it in English.
This page seems pretty complete and detailed: http://www.pitt.edu/~poole/PGP.htm
There are also great videos that you can see to understand the basics. Eg: How To Use PGP/GPG Encryption - In 2 minutes - PGP /GPG Tutorial for Beginners

Could you give a secure link to install Metamask on the Mozilla Firefox. I believed that Metamask is only available at Google Chrome. Thank you.

12588  Other / Meta / Re: "Remove proxyban" - new level of scam? on: May 18, 2018, 05:47:33 PM

Here it is:
When you register, the IP that you used when you submitted the registration form is used to calculate your evilness. The more frequently this IP or its neighbors were banned, the more evil is associated with your account. The amount of evil associated with an IP decays slowly over time, but the amount of evil associated with an account does not. You must pay or be manually whitelisted to enable posting on one of these "banned" accounts.

Here are some stats:

Evil% new users
053
0-135
1-104.4
10-200.80
20-502.2
50-1001.3
100+2.9

Currently each unit of evil requires a payment of 4023 satoshi. You only need to pay something if you have 1 or more, though.

Maybe OP's "friend" had multiple accounts who got nuked? Still, 13k seems a lot.
12589  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BRIEF HISTORY OF BITCOINTALK AND WHAT ITS ABOUT? on: May 18, 2018, 05:13:01 PM
Satoshi was pretty active in this forum back in the old days. You can always see his post history.

This thread should be interesting for you: Legendary profiles of bitcointalk.
12590  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Will Bitcoin do something to raise their ranking as a 'better' Blockchain? on: May 18, 2018, 04:34:26 PM
Why should we care about Bitcoin being listed number 13 in this list? Verge, DogecoinDark fork scam, is in the 14th position ffs.

+ focus in the technology
- caring about "rating lists"

Bitcoin keeps being the top coin no matter what.
12591  Other / Meta / Re: Some posts are not shown on: May 18, 2018, 03:10:22 PM
You don't get any notification if a thread where you posted something gets nuked (where consequently, your post also gets deleted).

Stop shitposting in SMT (Spam Mega Threads) and this will stop.
12592  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum is not starting on: May 18, 2018, 03:05:53 PM
Someone was getting the same error as you. Here is what he said:

Edit: Ok, finally solved (I hope!) by installing qrcode version 5.0.1 (looks like version 6.0 is somehow corrupted?) and several other required packages.. It wasn't easy for me as a beginner..  Huh

Try to run: pip install qrcode
12593  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mentally herrigement by DT member The Pharmacist on: May 18, 2018, 02:52:49 PM
Stop lying dude. Are you really saying that Monir Hossain is your online friend and at the same time, your elder brother?

Lucky for you... with a little digging we can see that:
realusinvestment: has posted their name as "Md. Monir Hossain" here: https://archive.is/uzQ2f#selection-485.8-485.25 and uses Telegram account for that name here: https://archive.is/Rwphv#selection-987.20-987.35
achiyaakter13: has used the facebook for "Monir Hossain" here: http://archive.is/YGyyJ#selection-535.0-537.1

Also... realusinvestment sent a nominal amount of ETH to achiyaakter13 account a while back here: https://etherscan.io/tx/0x576758773ea4acab3edc050a83ae8558237d0a2c88e1faaefeeba2cc4e11e210

You complained about receiving a red trust in your other account (realusinvestment) and two other DT members neg trusted it. The same will be done with this account.
12594  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum stuck on sync..transaction unknown on: May 17, 2018, 11:38:42 PM
I just managed to log into the original wallet on new laptop..had code words saved, but it's completely empty. No history or anything.
Which code? Do you mean a list of words like this one?
Code:
witch collapse practice feed shame open despair creek road again ice least

So, you're saying that you can't do anything with the wallet in the old pc? If you manage to click at "Wallet" -> "Seed", you should be able to get your wallet backup seed, which is enough to restore it in your new pc. You could also try to find your wallet file, which normally can be find in the "%APPDATA%\Electrum\wallets" folder.
12595  Economy / Reputation / Re: Harassment with false information ``Action required from DT member's please on: May 17, 2018, 11:26:10 PM
Just get over it... You not only keep bumping your thread, breaking the rule of only one bump per 24 hours like Vod said, but you also already made 3 threads about the same issue just today. You are lucky that you didn't get a second negative trust from another DT user.

Instead of spamming the forum, why don't you explain how are you innocent? I can't understand a damn word of what you're saying with this 'english'.

+1. This reminds me of Mark Karpelès (Mt. Gox ex-CEO) asking newbie questions days before launching the exchange, and sending Mt. Gox passwords in clear text after its launch.

Are you sure that you can protect your customers funds? Smiley
12597  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Seed for imported wallet on: May 17, 2018, 09:19:12 PM
Thank you guys for the clarification.
Just one more question if you please, what is exactly a bip39 wallet? I hear alot this word but can't really understand what it means nor what it adds to have a bip39 wallet.

Quote
This BIP describes the implementation of a mnemonic code or mnemonic sentence -- a group of easy to remember words -- for the generation of deterministic wallets.

12598  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Self development and BitcoinTalk [Must read for new members] on: May 17, 2018, 06:21:04 PM
Does he have a BitcoinTalk account? if he has then I am sure he is creating great contents here. I would like to see his profile here.
He has, but he doesn't use it. His profile shows that he hasn't been active since 12 August 2017.

His profile: benperrin117

Thanks for the information mate however I would like to keep everything that is happening in bitcoinTalk. I do not want to end up promoting someone else's channel however it's an awesome channel by the way.
A video can obviously teach you more than a forum post Smiley
12599  Other / Meta / Re: Request: add bitcointalk.TO to [phishing] list on: May 17, 2018, 05:17:16 PM
This site has to be closed permanently. I had some links in my guide and in my merit giveaway thread, leading to the .to domain.
Thanks to vlad230 I got them cleaned up, but just wondering how did I end up with the phishing links in the first place?
I started writing my guide back in the autumn last year when I was a newbie so probably they were already circulating in the forum.
You probably got them on Google. I had a few of them in one of my posts when I was researching an user.

Loyce was the one that warned me. And I see that he didn't mention adding the fake website to your hosts file while it hasn't been blacklisted.

I totally fell for the cloned site, until I realized I couldn't see your trust ratings.
I have added this line to /etc/hosts
Code:
127.0.0.1       bitcointalk.to
Now my computer can't access that phishing site anymore.
12600  Other / Meta / Re: What about redesigning BitcoinTalk ? . on: May 17, 2018, 04:55:48 PM
IIRC, theymos (or was it Void?) already said that the forum software is heavily modified and implementing this kind of "packages" is not that easy.

I prefer searching for my username in the Advanced Search page. The "Show new replies to your posts" page is a mess.[/list]

Seriously though, is this project still alive?
There is almost no activity in the github repo Sad
