1261  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling. on: January 05, 2024, 09:24:20 PM
But after finishing the game what's your overall feeling how did you overcome this feeling and how many hours or days did it last?

Be honest with yourself and vote on the poll on What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling?
Voted for the second option: Enjoy.
After many years of participating in gambling games, I learned to enjoy the game regardless of the result of the game. I realized for myself that I can’t go all-in and spend an amount on a bet that I will regret and suffer from the consequences. Now I only play for small amounts that I don’t mind to lose and treat it like a ticket to an attraction and the main task is to have fun, this is no longer about hunting for a big win.

Experienced gamblers like yourself wouldn't get carried away by the common goal of most newbie gamblers; hunting for money. Taking the second options indicates how long you've been in the gambling niche. I've also been in the category of newbies, where I thought gambling is an avenue for winning money. Later I understood we all need to have a knowledge of gambling before participating in it. The journey is never to get rich quick or even earn money in the process. Gamblers now turn it into a career, which is not a good game for most players. Staying relaxed after playing gambling shows that a player enjoyed his money and doesn't regret one bit of his time spent while gambling. Hence, to remain on a good lane of gambling one doesn't need to follow the route of money, as he could be facing a bitter experience in his gambling journey. They've been multiple complaints of people who wouldn't accept that gambling is a fun game or activity, due to the fact their money has been lost while gambling.
1262  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's Your Feeling After You Finish Gambling. on: January 05, 2024, 12:08:30 AM
Yup, it's true, but no matter how much we want to, we can't really say or avoid what we shouldn't do when it comes to gambling, there are many things that are hard to explain that even the gambler himself doesn't know what he feels. even if they want to follow the advice from other people, they can't do it and they have a hard time controlling themselves. They are aware that they may be becoming addicted to gambling, it's just that we only have our own timeline for how long it will take us to overcome the addiction.
We can still advise the person not to get too deep into gambling, especially if he can feel the consequences because he has experienced it before. He should also be able to realize that what he did was wrong and must be corrected by not doing it again. Maybe he will find it difficult to immediately stop his gambling activities so he can try to reduce his gambling activities first while trying to do other things that can divert his mind. If they can do this, they can reduce their gambling activities and will not be too dependent on gambling to get pleasure because they already have other things that can give them pleasure. Moreover, he can save his money to use it for other needs or just save it for the future.

Advising a gambler not to go deep into gambling can help him, but he also needs some hands to stop. I mean a person that'll be there for him and take him out to some other events which can help him have different thoughts on gambling. The ball is also on the court of the gambler, he'll also need to decide if he'd be interested in following an advise. If the player is interested in quitting gambling, then it'll be easier for the person's advise to work out and change him. But, it's not a simple process. Staying with them and controlling their thought works best, then holding their funds or card so that they won't deposit more money in gambling. Due to the mental disorder it may have caused the addict, the person acting as his therapist also need to have patience, until the brain begin to correct. Because while helping them manage the money they waste in gambling, the person could be acting strange or insisting that he'd want to gamble. So, anybody who wants to help an addicted player out of addiction should zero his mind to help them till the end.
1263  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: January 04, 2024, 11:50:38 PM
I want to ask, do you believe in experts gambling predictions?

I don't believe the experts.Gambling is largely based on luck and chance, but there are some strategies that can improve your chances of winning. No one can predict gambling outcomes with 100% accuracy. Although some experts may have a good understanding of the games, they are not able to predict the outcome with certainty. Gambling is a form of entertainment, it is your personal decision whether you choose to seek advice from gambling experts or not, but it is always wise to gamble within your means and not rely solely on expert opinions.

Gamblers only require the ability to trust their own predictions instead of an expert's idea. Predicting correctly, doesn't need any expert to do it, it's mainly a thing of luck, not being an expertise. Because it'll be hard to know what happens next in a game. Whether the player is certain about the past and what happened in the previous games, and is well versed in analysis, the gambler still need to hope on luck, as sports knows no master in prediction. A gambler who is concerned about having fun through gambling don't need such people to help him gamble. Most often it causes some trouble in the process and the gambler who relied on an expert would blame the person for his loss. To avoid such things, everyone need to take custody of his action in gambling. If he chooses to follow an expert then it should be seen as his own decision, hence he is not supposed to complain to anybody.
1264  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: January 04, 2024, 11:41:52 PM
It's generally risky to rely on gambling as a consistent income source due to the unpredictable nature of outcomes. It's advisable to have a stable and reliable source of income.Gambling should be for entertainment purposes only
There are many gamblers that relent on gambling to make money and there are people that also take gambling as there major work without having any other source of income. We need to be very careful how to make decisions concerning gambling because any negative thought could lead to gambling recklessness which could attract more gambling habit. The unpredictable nature of outcome could either lead to winning or loses. If we don't have any other money for us to use and bet, this can lead to a bigger problem for us as a gambler leading to borrowing or doing fraud just to win bets if there is no any other alternatives.

Indeed, it's really hard to resist the temptation of doing gambling. Gamblers will always find a way to gamble. Actually, the big reason why these gamblers always come back to gamble is because of the experience they felt when they won. They want to feel that experience over and over again that's why even these gamblers already losing a lot, they will still push their desire to have that winning experience again.

Because they want to feel that big experience again, they don't realized how much money they are losing now.

Trying to repeat same experience again only affects the gambler on the long run, and can lead them to problem gambling. The case of relying on gambling as the only source of income have affected lots of gamblers to lose out their money, then face anxiety and regrets. Which could lead to depression, and its not advisable for gamblers to stake money on games, while in a bad emotional state. Hence, gambling should be done when our mind is cool and brain thinks straight and accurate. It's all a matter of self control. The goal of every gambler is to avoid getting addicted and at least win. Nobody wants to get addicted, but with the loss of self control for money, most gamblers now get addicted. According to Op, avoiding some alcoholic drinks can help the gambler to stay in control and gamble with ease. Most people who lose money go ahead to purchase alcoholic drink to calm their thoughts, not realizing that it only worsens the situation.
1265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Quit gamble! Easy or Hard? Let's talk. on: January 04, 2024, 11:30:34 PM
Actually, people who are already addicted to gambling can’t just quit it in a day, but even though they are trying to quit the gambling addict, it will take time because being addicted to something will make it very hard for you to leave it just in a day.
Any gambler who is not sure if he can quit gambling is definitely addicted. For a non addict, there are certain outcomes you must see in gambling that will keep you in the game else your passion and interest will start reducing. It should be that the moment gambling becomes a huge burden to your finances, then there is every reason to either reduce your participation or stop for the moment. What constitue success in every business to take appraisals to know how well one has done or otherwise.

Even some non addicted gamblers find it very difficult not to gamble in a day even when they have self control over gambling and they are also on a losing streak. In gambling, any one who finds certain things to be very interesting there by making him to find it difficult not to stop gambling is already addicted to gambling. I bet you that most gamblers don't even keep record of their wins nor their losses even though some claim to be having good records. Do you know how many things some gamblers gamble in a day ? Will they have the courage to keep keeping daily record of their losses when it will affect them emotionally I think addiction happens when someone is already committed to doing a certain thing regardless of a positive and a negative outcomes.

Gambling addiction is not something a person can easily stop. It requires some time and dedication to control the problem gambling to an extent of quitting entirely. However, the symptoms starts when a non addict, begins to gamble lots of money and doesn't feel the need to stop. Instead he keeps going hoping to win more, in the process he then forgets the pains of losing out money. I think gamblers need not to keep records of how they gamble in a day. It's a matter of self determination. Those records have no changes in the brain of the gambler. He only needs the right advice to redirect his actions on saving himself from getting into the wrong direction of gambling. However, quitting gambling whether for a non addict and an addict is not simple. But, if a person is courageous enough not to gamble for few days he'll be able to forego gambling. The problem starts when the player is gambling each day, non stop.

1266  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 04, 2024, 09:58:20 PM
I do if these are my friends or relatives, but I don't if they're random people. I know what I'm doing and if I need an opinion from someone I'll ask for it.
In a situation where you get harassed by other people because you're a gambler just walk away, don't escalate this. Those who start things up with you are either dumb or they want things to escalate because they're bored or something.
In general I don't tell people that I gamble, unless I see that they also do to avoid these situations.
There are people who are really that sensitive into those words that they might be able to hear around and there are ones who dont really care on what others been saying as long they have
done or do something on the things that they do like. We do know that when it comes to gambling then people would really be having that negative approach and views into it on which it isnt really that shocking anymore that negativity would be always there. Its true that it would really be just fine if those words could be heard from your loved ones or relatives but if it goes from other people
then you might be having those reactions which you might be ending up on having some argumentations but actually it isnt really that much of an issue as long you do
find yourself playing gambling just for fun.

In terms of family it'll be hard to overlook, as they'll be helpful when we are facing some disputes. Not just gambling, a lot more things could be an issue to the gambler in future. So, being attentive to what our family have to say regarding gambling, can help a gambler to understand what to do, whether to quit or continue the process. Most times our family may have noticed a symptom in our life, that made them comment about the gambling habit of the gambler. Which is not wrong to add response on a person's personal life. On the other hand, not every stranger would be considered as not making valuable response to a gambler's life. The only dispute is that, separation will definitely erupt, as gamblers don't like hearing such things, especially from a non gambler. As a gambler when people begin to talk, I don't respond or go into deep argument. The only thing I do is to have a rethink if the person is adding some meaningful advice to me or I'm I getting out of control in gambling.
1267  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: I could have won bigger. on: January 04, 2024, 09:47:02 PM
Now I am angry at my friend because he didn't keep to his words. Although I am still happy about the win, I wish he had given me back the $10. Then, I would have win bigger money.
Here's the thing buddy, don't be mad at your friend because he didn't return your money. Imagine you're losing all $10 on that bet and you will be left with nothing. Whatever happens, happens for a good reason. Now you have made $50 from $1 and you still have the $10 in your hand. In total, you can spend $60 later on.
Take everything positively. Maybe one day that friend will come handy just because you lend him $10 in his difficult situation. Do favor to other people and you will get the favor back 10 times.
Be happy with your winning and always bet minimum amount. You will be able to play more and lose less.

Helping people is quite very important and we should not regret giving arms to someone else over a win in gambling. The money may have solved a problem for him and also saved the person from life troubles. The memory he wouldn't forget, but the money will finish. Hence if Op had won with the 50 dollars, soon he'd spend it all buying things favorable to him, which is not handy in helping a friend. Op, only needs to try again with high amount, next time, if that's what bothers him. However, we need to think along side Op, as its his money and experience. Many a times, in the past, I felt that way and the thoughts wouldn't disappear immediately, but sooner it gets over the gambler's brain. Compared to the trouble the friend who needs the money would have to face if his problems wasn't saved with the money. He'll hardly forget about the treat or help. And somehow, Op, would reap from the help he's given out to a friend.
1268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: January 04, 2024, 09:36:59 PM
We do have different reasons why we gamble and that reason could be the cause why we are not having fun with gambling. We gamble because we just wanna chill and have fun the it is good but if we gamble because we want to gain income or whatsoever related to this, I think things will never be the same anymore. For irresponsible gamblers, having fun in gambling is a lie. 😅
Those of us who gamble should be able to get pleasure from gambling, but somehow, it makes us lose direction by using more and more money just because we want to chase the wins we previously got. The goal of having fun is easily replaced by the desire to win again when that won't always happen. We become more greedy after getting the previous win, making us willing to use all the money in our gambling account. We don't remember that we should have had enough of gambling, so we have to finish it immediately before we run out of all the money. And it's true that if we say we're having fun gambling but we run out of money, it's the same as lying to ourselves. And I've experienced it before.

What gamblers feel about gambling is not expected to be the same, due to the need that led a person to participate in gambling. It's not to be a general problem, like Op thought. The goal of gamblers in some age brackets would be for money, while others thinks it's fun, and the rest only play to master strategies that can be implemented in life. Although those who play for money have a big PR and are populous. Casinos also use their PR to create more awareness about the business and yield more customers. If a gambler is for the fun, he'll get it and enjoy his money while gambling. Anxiety only erupts when the gambler is after money and doesn't enjoy his money. Because it's as if he's paying to earn more money or investing his money for more profits. They see gambling as a business and end up feeling that those who enjoy gambling for fun are not or lying about it. I'd conclude that it's just a misunderstanding.
1269  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you see a gambling review website that has its own gambling website? on: January 04, 2024, 09:24:28 PM
A gambling website, OP, you mean a casino that also runs a gambling review. It's not wrong, the site can be a byproduct. Where the casino also gains traffic to their main website. Whatever they rank their own casino doesn't matter, provided they've mentioned the casino and review site is run by same administrator. Gamblers who use the review site, would only need to focus on the casino that concerns them, if the review site's casino is worth it the visitors can use them and check if the rating on the review site is true. It's more like having a blog as a casino. No much gap in the difference. However, gamblers still need to do their research on other casino review sites about the casino, whether what is written on their review about their casino is similar to what other review sites have to say. Doing that shouldn't be a big deal. Casino are only using those contents to increase traffic to the main casino. It's more like a social engineered means of reaching out to people.
1270  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Focus on how much you may lose and not only the potential win. on: January 04, 2024, 09:12:33 PM
Gamblers have different reasons why they'll regret whenever the game plays in their favor. First, the player is greedy and doesn't appreciate his lucky days then the instincts and time he utilized before wining the game. Second, he thinks gambling of a place where regret matters. Those who regret no matter how early, it's too late, and nothing could be done about it. Hence they should enjoy their money and try again next time. They also go ahead to make the mistake of staking high amount of money on their next game, which may not play in the player's favor, and he'll still complain over losing much money in gambling. They regret at any outcome; win or lose. I'd say that gamblers need to be prepared when gambling, not just gambling for money sake. The person can not be satisfied. I've seen numerous cases where a gambler gets sad even after winning money. Because he's bothered that he could have wagered a bigger amount.
1271  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 08:57:30 PM
People's problems persists because they are not willing to blame themselves. Gambling never forces anybody to participate. These people gamble each day on their own will power and don't complain when the money is still on their bank roll. Once the whole money finishes they'll begin to blame it on gambling. We all know that gambling has some emotional connection to the brain, which may have facilitated the gambler to stake money with out control. But, those flaws is of the player's responsibility. As not all gambler face the same trouble. Op's response is excellent and gamblers need to stop derailing the advantages of gambling. Telling people gambling is the reason they went financially broke wouldn't uplift them from their current situation. Searching for a means out is the best move for the person. If he's addicted, getting out of it should be his main priority. Not just putting the blame on gambling. It's not just wrong, but delays the duration it'll take to solve the person's problems.
1272  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 04, 2024, 08:39:43 PM
I will not fully disagree with your opinion. Because sometimes it worth to take some risk. But we have to remind that or keep in mind that gambling is all about the luck. So the result can be both win and loss. And taking a decision from the pressure I think it is one kind of gambling based on emotions and with emotions I don't think is a proper way to play gambling. It can be more riskier for your fund.

All gambling is an act of risk taking actually, and for the problem of high or low risk that will be taken it all depends on the willingness of each gambler, sometimes there are also many of those who are not able to take responsibility for high risk but instead take / do it and usually they are people who are quasi-emotional. The realization that gambling is just an activity for profit will only exist in the mind of someone who understands what gambling really is along with some of the opportunities and possible risks that are there, on the other hand it is very clear as I said above that they pretend to be able to take high risks when all decisions are out of emotion due to the pressure of previous defeats, and I would call them gamblers who do not have the responsibility and correct understanding of gambling, it is very clear that we can conclude this from the approach they take.

Risks do appear at the cause of gambling, but the actions of the gambler depends on what led to the reason why he decided to take a risk. Knowing fully well that taking risks while gambling wouldn't be the best option, as his win may not be assured. I can remember going all in while playing board games, sometimes it's worth the risk, but losing is the worse scenerio of moving all in. Regardless of the losses, taking risks while gambling can as well be rewarding. Advising people to follow such strategies wouldn't be the right decision. So, I'd say that players need to understand the condition of whatever action they're to make while gambling. And also get ready to take full responsibility if the money lost is too huge. Those who gamble out of emotions, mostly behave like this, hoping to win big in the process and recover all they've lost in one bet. The few times it works, could lead the player to gamble more and spend lots of money in the process, which yields regrets.
1273  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you take time to read the terms and conditions of casinos before registering? on: January 02, 2024, 10:21:48 PM
Their terms and conditions are lengthy enough to read which make a user annoying and that's why most of people just  quickly agree with them, don't care what is written in those. But i think people should atleast read or should knowledge the some important thing about that casino like about KYC system, VPN is allowed or not and their policy while withdrawal fund. I use to read such thing. And then i check about blog and YouTube videos if they have any serious negative issue or not. I think such information should be checked before joining any Casino. If everything looks good then its good to go.
Usually the terms and conditions of gambling sites are written in incomprehensible language. Moreover, because there is so much written on various subjects, it naturally becomes boring to read. I think no gambler reads the conditions offered by the casino from the beginning to the end. But I don't think it's important for all. Because some conditions are almost same. If a gambler follows certain rules and then gambles then he will not have any major problem. But if a gambler is gambling by following the rules 100% then it is definitely better for him to do so. Gamblers may have less patience than others. Because when they bet, they only think about that bet and they don't have the mentality to think about anything else.

A gambler who has read to some length the rules of a casino, may not bother about reading that of another casino because it makes not much difference. Casino share almost similar terms and conditions, because different casinos use the same game providers. But to stay on the safe side, the gambler needs to be aware of the new rules that make a casino unique from the previous casino he's been using. Most people who complain about withdrawal issues in a casino may not have read about the terms that control such disputes in the casino. Glancing on the TOS is better than ticking agreed without reading at all. Money is involved and gamblers need to be cautious of the rules governing the place they spend their money. However, if the person is not comfortable reading all of the write-ups, they can search for the reviews of other gamblers on the casino. How it operates, the provably fair features, and the deposit and withdrawal limits.

These things are what matters in a casino for any gambler. Then KYC requirements for withdrawal. Other than that, the VPN and restricted regions should be taken into consideration. As the gambler may not be paid if his region is not eligible to use the casino. Or if VPN is prohibited. Some casinos may allow the gambler to use the platform, then once they win, they'll be denied payment. Bypassing this type of problem raises the need for a gambler to read a glimpse of the casino's terms and conditions. Because wherever we take the casino maybe to the law court for seizing our money, we'd still lose out. A gambler who boycotts a casino's rule would have no help from any gambling community if he lays a complaint. Doing the necessary things won't cost us much time, instead of paying for not reading the TOS by losing our hard-earned money, we should go through it and endeavor not to break the rules.
1274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers understood the game on: January 02, 2024, 09:58:04 PM
I really like the example in which one person asks how much money is needed to have $1 million in crypto in his account, and the second person answers that two million is enough.
I don’t know what kind of people can confidently enter the crypto world to double their capital, especially in gambling. This is a mystery to me. Such people are most likely not secure in their financial security.
And the fact that you don’t give specific advice and websites is, at least at first, good.

A gambler who enters a casino for profit is the most likely to fail, everything is known that a casino is not a charitable organization that the more money they give you Deposits they will make the Investor that account grow , that's what What they are Looking for is to win , and not make people lose, it is something normal that companies always have to do Things to Generate money in other ways, for example when you have things in the world like a casino that I said offers many options. to win with the bonuses, if there are any , but it is Known that the casinos do not launch Anything Without having first studied the fact that they are going to win more than they will lose , that is Something they have to see, that is why when a player settles in a casino He takes Everything into Account or makes him Win , taking into Account that if he loses more , then he gets angry.

A person who believes that he is going to make a lot of money in a Casino is most likely to lose all his wealth, because he is going Through the motions, already living with mental stress, and that makes him feel in the Middle of the game Because he loses , it's Simple , it's the Emotions that are that they play.

The OP had a nice suggestion of not being responsible for the platform his friend would gamble on. Though it's right, for the sake of not later being blamed, his friend could gamble in the wrong casino. It would be better if he made a list of good and quality casinos, and then let them choose. There would be nothing to bother about the people he attracted to crypto gambling having some problem gambling since they've been gambling for a long period. The only difference is that those people gambled with fiat. However, they keep on losing more than winning, because of the aim of winning big money through gambling. This has been the main reason why most gamblers face lots of losses in gambling. The casino has to earn from the gamblers and also play with their intelligence by rewarding some money in the process. Enabling or pushing the gambler to stake more money, hoping to win bigger. So, the brain gets caught up in the process, and enjoys the process and the player won't be able to stop until his money gets exhausted.

The pain only affects him emotionally and causes the gambler mental stress, as you said, Danadc. Enlightening gamblers on the bad effects of going for money as a primary aim in gambling should be the first approach for people we attract to use crypto casinos. So, they won't continue to lose more money in the process, of gambling in using crypto. Because if the gambler is not attended to, they will keep on repeating the same mistakes, which only pisses them off, but they claim all is fine. Since they'll be winning soon, the money now sounds like an investment to the gambler. And he wouldn't bother about it anymore. Losing now gets normal and the gambler neglects the fact he keeps running short on funds. Their addiction begins to creep in and the person would have to pay more in stress and anxiety for not staying attentive to the reactions he felt while losing money in his early stages of gambling. I'd suggest that Op also talk to his friends to minimize the losing rate, by managing their time and money when gambling.
1275  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you care about what people say about you gambling? on: January 02, 2024, 09:35:45 PM
What people would say or already said, doesn't count anymore in my life. Because in gambling I already thought about it before venturing into it, hence the validation of people wasn't necessary when I started participating in games, gave it a try, with nobody being there to advise me. So, if a person who is close to me begins to talk about the gambling habit, it's mainly their response or opinion and doesn't have enough weight to affect my feelings. People will talk, regardless. It's only important if we know or are not sure of why we gamble. But while in our right decisions, no need to bother, provided we gamble responsibly. It's also an opportunity to discuss further about gambling to the person. Then hear from him what he thinks of those that gamble. Not just giving a slight response back to him. It could make the person continue having his perspectives on gamblers being irresponsible.

Engaging him can change his thoughts, and he wouldn't say such things to some other gambler he's met. The only disadvantage of engaging such people is, that they could go ahead becoming gamblers, and a person like that wouldn't hesitate to blame the person who he may have thought talked him into gambling. However, no error in trying to change the way people see gamblers. The society has been viewing gamblers as time wasters and it only gets worse each day. Some people no longer mind their business, like the case of Op, I don't think the guy had any relevant reason for talking to Op in that manner. Not that he had a follow-up discussion for Op, which shows that the person doesn't have a concrete reason why he thinks gamblers are not doing themselves a favor for staking money on games. All they could think of was their previous beliefs of how people talked about gambling in most gatherings, without giving their reasons for unveiling some ill thoughts about gamblers.
1276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and health concern on: January 02, 2024, 09:07:46 PM
What difference will it make if you keep people by your side always 'incase'? If you have any health challenge,  especially one where your mental health is at stake, avoiding anything at all that will trigger it, yea even gambling". You do not need that mental stress at all.

If you are someone that cannot handle anxiety, you panic greatly after every gambling rounds, then you need to have a rethink about getting involved in gambling. It is only foolishness if you experience anxiety attacks yet keep assuring yourself you'll be fine, you are causing more damage to yourself and with time it will generate into something more severe.

Everyone must not gamble, same way everyone cannot practice a particular kind of profession.  We all know our strength and weaknesses, avoid what you cannot handle for the sake of your health.  This is not cowardice, it is a precautionary measure.
It’s common for a player to hope for the best, we all want to hope for that, don’t we? But in reality this does not happen and it turns out that we are deceiving ourselves by entering the game again and again. Of course, there are many who would rather not enter the game, because it will shake their nerves so much that they won’t want to do anything else in life, their nerves will be destroyed or permanent depression will arise. These are very serious problems and many people think that this will happen to anyone, but only to him. I want to say that you should always feel how much the game affects your sleep and wallet. If there is nothing from this, then it is obvious that you can’t play anymore.

We need to know ourselves before gambling. Discovering for the first time that gambling could trigger his hypertension, shows the person may not have been checking his reaction to sudden situations. Winning big, for instance, could lead to shock, to some gamblers, because they never thought about winning such an amount that day, or it could be something they have been imagining to have in a distant time. The person in Op's story, his friend, may have had a similar encounter in the past, even before gambling. But, he didn't look into it or thought gambling could make him feel that way again. Having people around him, in such a condition can help in fastening treatment if he experiences such a sudden occurrence in his life again. Gamblers do feel anxiety, but wouldn't stop because they're looking to gain more money. Anxiety has led many to problem gambling and caused damage to their friendship with family.

These experiences could compound to the extent the gambler now spends money on gambling without feeling any pain or remorse after losing. Hence those who know that gambling could cause them pain, anxiety, or hypertension don't need to gamble again. If he's won the jackpot, taking a break is crucial for his health. No need to practice the same gambling which can lead him to have such a problem again. If he breaks down, or while he was in the hospital, he wasn't able to gamble. That's what we need to consider when going contrary to what our health practitioner told us regarding our health. The doctor who treated Op's friend is expected to warn him to give gambling a huge gab and enjoy his winnings. I think on his end, he wants to wager all the money he's won, before realizing he's making a mistake. Would he be able to get hold of himself if he wins big, eventually, again? it's the question to ask himself, before trying to gamble again.
1277  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Success or Fail? - Talking about Gambling as a major income on: January 02, 2024, 08:45:57 PM
Maybe there are also people who depend on gambling as their main income and usually this is for people who have large capital and each time they bet the amount is not small.

Even though there are rich people with large capital, it would not be good to make gambling their main source of income. I'm sure that gambling in this way will only make the gambler depressed and will only focus on pursuing victory. No matter how big the capital is, it will run out if the gambler does not carry out good control management.
make gambling fun. so when you win or lose. You will not be depressed because you lost your money. however, gambling is a matter of luck. Of course, no one would depend their life on luck.
There's no such thing on this world to have that unlimited fund, this is why i do highly believe that even if you are a rich person, you arent that exempted when it comes to bankruptcy due to too much gambling on which we know on how fast or swift gambling results could be on which outcomes could really be that just a blink of an eye on which means that no matter how big your money is
or having that income source. It would really be just that easy to deplete out the money you do have with gambling. Its not an income source but rather it is really just that made for
entertainment. It is really just people do go into the opposite side of things.

Gambling as a career has multiple factors behind it, and not everyone would be able to sustain the requirements needed to be successful in such a career. Mainly the depression of thinking, playing, and repeating gambling all the time, could set in, and the person wouldn't enjoy his lifestyle anymore. Nobody is advised to follow such a route, but some people already do that in our gambling world. The issue with that is, some people do it knowingly while others don't know they're now gambling as if it's their career. Those who choose to gamble as a career will only pass through hard times with loneliness and probably depression from not associating with people due to the hard work needed to stay relevant in gambling. The others who only spend a long time each day on gambling, without being calculative or conscious of their gambling habit, are only there to waste money, in the name of gambling.

This type of gamblers who gamble unknowingly, will lose all their money, regardless of the amount of money they've got or are ready to spend in gambling. But the gamblers who are conscious of their habit, and willingly choose to gamble as a career, after years of understanding how gambling works, observing the house edge of the casino, wouldn't lose out their money. It'll be like the money is unlimited because the player has done his math and understood the amount of money that will be able to take him through the journey, and he'd be winning through the process. The luck also is required, but the calculation is quite very important, at least to feel in control and not lash out when losing. Playing by what the house edge has for the gambler, gives the gambler a better thought and relaxes his mind, whenever he loses money. Such gamblers would be able to control their funds and limit how long they'll gamble each day, then add up with the amount of money they win in the process. It's achievable to be a full-time gambler, but it's boring and depressing.
1278  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: With gambling, it's probably easier to quit cold turkey on: January 02, 2024, 08:22:44 PM
Not possible for a gambling addict to quit slowly. If gambling is a problem, the best is to just quit. After he quits, he can start to gamble again after a year. If he sees that he is still gambling in a way he waste money on it, he can quite again. This is how I stopped my gambling addiction.

But if the gambler do not quit and not able to quit, he needs something like rehabilitation program or medical consultant.
You won't say it is not possible because humans act and react to issues differently. It might not work for you but it might be the best solution for someone else. I have seen drug addicts who are permitted to take lesser addictive drugs to help them gradually quit drugs. Some therapists might recommend marijuana for a heroine or cocaine addict. Gradually it might be reduced to cigarettes until the person fully gains control over his life. So I believe gamblers can quit gradually. Maybe one can gradually reduce the amount and time he spends on casinos and this could help to curb excessive gambling.

Yes anybody willing to have a cold turkey can do that, especially in gambling. But it's not an easy process, the person wouldn't stop immediately. Op's term easier, in my response, is wrong. Because gambling has to do with mental health, and the addict wouldn't have enough control over himself to even realize his condition. Unless he's not deeply into the addiction or in a minimal level of gambling addiction, the person still needs the help of a therapist to get cured of his problem gambling. The procedures you mention above for a drug addict could be used to help a gambling addict, but due to the psychological effects it has on the gambler, the therapist also needs to establish a fresh relationship with the gambler. Because switching addiction is quite very hard for a gambling addict, the therapist needs not to give out straight advice to the gambler. Instead, it's preferable to let the gambler discuss how he feels being a gambling addict. And the pains he's having inside, as an addict.

It's known that the gambler may have gone through difficulties and loved ones going nuts on their new attitudes. Those ill experiences that make the addict feel nobody would be able to help him except himself, need to be shared with the therapist, to help facilitate therapy sessions between the both; therapist and the addicted gambler. Trying to tell a gambling addict what or not to do, doesn't seem effective, because he feels he's actually on the right track and everyone else's responses don't matter to him. So, having close conversations can help him think about the view of the therapist and begin to have a change. It's like a chronic disease, gambling addiction requires lots of time for the person to recover completely, that's why many users in their response said it's not easier to have a cold turkey in gambling addiction. Therapists have to make sure the player doesn't resist help, by not being bossy or making the process more difficult for the gambler. All these take lots of time, and the gamblers need to comply by attending therapy classes.
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can loneliness make one addicted to gambling on: January 02, 2024, 08:02:47 PM
Loneliness can make people to become addicted to anything that will distract their minds from the cause of their being lonely, there's a whole lot of addictions, alcohol and smoking, pornography, drug, womanizing and a whole lot including gambling. They'll initially engage in this acts as a temporary measure to get over their lose, and as time goes on they'll unintentionally become fully involved and eventually addiction will kick in, and it'll be difficult for them to leave it. Even if they finally overcome the addiction it's likely that they'll find another recreation to engage in to overcome the void that the addiction that they left will cause, in the end it'll be going into another addiction to get over an addiction. So it's best for anyone that is going through loneliness to be strong and disciplined, even if they most engage in gambling or any other activities to get over the pains of loneliness, they most tell themselves that it is temporary and bounce back as soon as possible.
Most times, the best remedy for loneliness is talking to someone,  someone who can help you break out of it. At least if the cause of the loneliness is known,  help can come.  Trying to help yourself by getting involve in a particular activity most times leads to addiction.
A person may have different preferences. It is not just that he becomes addicted to gambling if he is alone. Because not everyone has the same addiction. I think they have a habit of doing that when they are alone. Accordingly a gambler may choose gambling to spend his idle time. But it is not the case that he will become a gambling addict if he is alone. Gamblers must take steps on their own to get rid of any addiction. If alone he indulges in all those addictive activities then he must be with others. Self-awareness should be kept by oneself otherwise it would be difficult to get rid of addiction.

Loneliness is eating deep into most people's lives psychologically, and they need to hang out with friends or neighbors in their environment. However, not everyone possesses the social skills needed to associate with people close to them. Emotional troubles also lead to loneliness, when people think nobody else is there for them. Hence for a gambler or a person who is lonely and uses gambling to keep himself busy, he needs to maintain the same control not to get addicted. Not only do lonely people get addicted, but those with roommates and friends around them can be addicted to gambling. The main disadvantage of loneliness is that it could lead a nongambler to begin playing games, and he wouldn't have the necessary information needed before joining the gambling niche. In such a case, the player can get addicted, as he's somehow not emotionally stable, and maybe experienced a failed relationship, so gambling cautiously would be difficult for him.

Because one part of his brain that's meant to be associating with loved ones or friends, is not being utilized often, the person wouldn't have the control anymore to stop gambling. As he wouldn't know what else to do if he stopped gambling. Addiction can be gotten due to loneliness, yes, but the gambler needs to take the blame for not going out to look around and have fun with humans. However, society is getting lonely each day, everyone focusing on social media, which has made our environment less fun, and we hardly see people who would discuss at length with us without peeping through their phones. And most people with some kind of addiction, said they don't want to disturb anybody. That means they would think visiting a friend could be inconveniencing the person, hence they prefer staying all alone indoors, spending time on their addiction; gambling, movies, etc. Idleness is not good for the brain, sometimes reading could help, but hanging out solves most problems of addiction or even visiting people in another city. Life is too short to be made boring.
1280  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves? on: January 02, 2024, 07:41:47 PM
I know for sure that if we take periodic account of how many times that we gamble, maybe weekly, monthly or yearly, we'll find out that the loses are far greater than the winnings, so I sometimes wonder how we can be indulging in something that we lose far more than we gain, in the name of having fun. I know that it's human nature to want to conquer, defeat, control and be the leader, yet we go into gambling knowing that the system doesn't give us a fair advantage of achieving these aims, yet we're happy to go back and likely be defeated again.

Perhaps deep down in our conscience, somewhere that we don't like to listen to, it still tells us the truth that the reason why we're going to gamble is to hopefully win money, not really to have fun.

I know that it's said that you should gamble the amount that you can afford to loose, but will you call it a true fun when you know that there's a higher probability of losing your bet?

Well, actually I really understand what you said in this thread. however, it seems there is a different meaning and essence between me and you. first of all, I want to say first, what I said does not mean I am comparing. so, please understand. the title of your thread, is really very interesting to me. I will quote him, "Gambling for fun, is it a lie that we tell ourselves?". there is a big question that you seem to be struggling with, especially regarding gambling and the idea of having fun. at this point, many people actually have the same questions as you think. however, both you, me, we, have different definitions regarding what gambling is. first, what does pleasure mean to you? so, what does this have to do with the gambling you do? you can answer it, but keep your answer to yourself. for me, pleasure has a broad meaning depending on how I respond to it and condition it to the situation and conditions. now, what is gambling to you? for me, gambling is expensive entertainment and contains a lot of risk. then, what allows us to have fun and get pleasure. yeah, the answer depends on each individual.

So you see, the idea of having fun doesn't have to be what you mean in the title of this thread and neither does what you say in this post. before we gamble, either you or I, must first spend capital as a medium for playing and betting. at this point, you are willing and aware to do it. the question is, are you thinking about something bad instead of having fun? Of course it's not like that. besides, it doesn't mean that with the idea of having fun we don't expect to win. as you said, even if you say it seems like we are lying to ourselves and this is where the difference lies. pleasure doesn't have to be winning, even in situations where you lose, you can learn lessons in the form of pleasure. for example, I bet on Arsenal "football" a team that is my favorite. then, the fact is that Arsenal lost the match.  meaning, I also lost. however, because Arsenal played the game very well, neatly and impressively, I enjoyed it even though they lost. even though I lost, psychologically I got the game I wanted and the results from the bets I made. and this, is a form of pleasure. so each gambler can define his own pleasure, and it depends on how he reacts to it. so, we don't need to lie to ourselves. regarding winning or losing, isn't that part of the risk of gambling? well, enjoy it according to your own version.

Personal perceptions matter in the gambling niche. It depends on the way we envisioned gambling before venturing into it, but it's rare to find a new gambler who didn't have at the back of his mind to win money while gambling. It was recently I read in a book that gambling is meant to be for fun. Just the same way we pay to play in a Park, gambling can give us the same pleasure. Before, then gambling was a way of making money, in my perspective. Lots of people are still on that same level of seeing gambling as a means of making money, and when they don't win, it gets them sad and pushes the player to try again immediately. Those who know or use gambling as a form of gaining fun, wouldn't figure out that other people still think of making money in gambling. Op could be among the gamblers who wouldn't accept gambling as a fun game. Because he's losing money while gambling.

However, truthfully, losing money is not always fun, especially when we lose lots of it. Hence gamblers who wish to make fun through gambling have one common peculiar characteristic, staking what they'll be able to lose and not bother about it. Unlike those seeking money, greed leads them to stake lots of money, and they end up being sad in the process of losing all of their money. So, as you said, it's for the gambler to choose sides, whether fun or sad after losing money. However, the first mentioned is better for our mental health. No need to be sad over some things we can't control. It's also a good reason gamblers shouldn't chase money, rather gamblers should be learning and taking pleasure from the outcomes of their decisions. Prioritizing money alone, as a factor of joy in gambling, can only yield a small amount of happiness in the life of the gambler. Because the losses keep coming more than the win. If Op can spend the amount he's able to lose without feeling sad, gambling wouldn't be a hassle to him.
