Ok, seriously. I can do a piece a day, and most of my work is in my opinion. I could report on happenings around, but my main concern is my Editor's Corner. How much is the pay per day anyway?

This coin desperately needs some merchants/service providers on board to stand any chance of success... Value on exchanges at the moment is not looking good.

please leave it as it is, i want it to drop some more then i'll buy up all of it!!

since i know nothing about json, but had absolutely no Problem with php api's
i woul really preciate some simple php code snippets, to display the Currency Pair Stats exp. BTC/WDC
and because i dont want to use my private key to fetch the data, but had my Struggle with Cryptsy API
and because i haven't found the Time to look/learn into json (but it's probably Time to do so)

to implement Trading Feature would be nice, and when i look at the GOX App the Stakes arent't that high.

The issue is in order to trade you need to log on, android has security issues. Worse of for those who want to integrate the full suit including the trading bot, they'll need to use their private key.

i am not sure about the graphs, but i had thought of a simple way of displaying things. The main concerns are Balances, Trades and the Markets. if i can i'll add a menu for the graphs, but i think i'll have to translate them into a format that is easily visible on 4" screens. after reading more on this, i have realised that this could be a battery intensive app since it makes use of the screen a lot, so i'm thinking of incorporating a ticker. You'll have to select the markets you want to watch, and it will notify you if any of your trades are completed. There is a trade bot for Android but i think it is too battery and network intensive to try mobile trading.

You can add a simple widget for Android to show the ticker updates...

Have you done any programming on this platform before?

No I'm not a programmer, but I wish I was lol  Grin

i've asked two guys so far and they are asking too much. I want this to be a secure app so i want to avoid saving any data on the device. I am going to consult with vern and bitjohn about security and some features.

I am thinking of making a Android app to monitor cryptsy prices and trades. for security reasons it will not be able to make trades. However at users discretion i could add the option as add on. Anyone else feel it's time they could monitor via mobile app?

EDIT:

So here's what i have come up with

Cryptsy Mobile App

  • View Markets
  • View balances, withdraw
  • Graphs (maybe)

Optional

  • Post trades
  • Chat

Adjustable settings are which markets to display under BTC and LTC, maybe view traded volumes.

Each copy will only activate after authentication and if i get vern to agree, when it makes a call, it will cross check the validity of the copy. Sorry guys but i'll probably have to pay someone along the way for help in getting this to actually work.

So the hurdles are

Battery saving
Bandwidth use
User friendly layout
Security (we all know android)
iOS
integrating the trade bot
Figuring a way to deal with the Graphs, perhaps use a different one that is more mobile screen friendly.

I am hoping to get this on Google Play. I'll keep updating on progress but don't expect immediate results, i am new to this platform.
1272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SHA 256 style coins on: September 02, 2013, 08:12:01 AM
Perhaps you could encourage people to merge mine if you wrote a simple How To guide when you have time. As in, how to take normal sha256 clones and add to Bitcoin.

We offered bounties for free open source software for divvying up the merged coins so people could set up merged mining pools, since for most people even just compiling and running all the daemons, or heck even just running all the daemons even if someone else compiled them, is apparently quite challenging. No one took us up on it though.

There is a thread since long long ago detailing how to easily use p2pool to merged mine, tried searching this forum? I think maybe CaptChadd started that thread not positive on that though.

Meanwhile of course people can use bitparking's merged mining pool if they don't mind not getting some of the possible to merge coins. He recently added i0coin back in and added groupcoin in so all you'd miss by using mmpool is the coiledcoins and geistgeld. The guy working on trying to make bytecoin able to be merged mined seemed to hiunt too that maybe once that is ready maybe doublec might be planning to add it into bitparking's merge too.

So simplest instructions, albeit not covering quite all the current crop of merged mined coins, is "go mine at bitparking's mmpool".

I'd actually like to add some of the new coins, so a guide o do it myself would be simpler. I am comfortable with compiling by myself so i think i'll try search the forum. If i understand it well enough i may consider mining BTC again.
1273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SHA 256 style coins on: September 02, 2013, 07:57:23 AM
Would it be possible to say merge mine all these new coins, (up to 5) without including Bitcoin?

Why only up to five? I currently merge eight including bitcoin, but sure I could use any of the bitcoin clones instead of bitcoin or maybe could just leave out bitcoin and use namecoin or devcoin or any of the others as the primary coin in the merge, I think, though I have not tried it. Certainly terracoin or bytecoin ought to work instead of bitcoin.

But since bitcoin pays all the electricity for all the others, why the heck leave bitcoin out? It is over 90% of the value of the entire merge...

I do not know whether ppcoin can act as primary in a merge.

1) It IS an ex BTC miner.
Correct, and it is an ASIC for Scrypt. And he still mines BTC too.

There is no ASIC for scrypt !!!  stop speaking FUD

how is that FUD? if one is actually functional and THAT effecient then it's good news.
1276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ASIC Testing on Scrypt? on: September 01, 2013, 05:41:05 AM
this is weird, because with all this power he can mine without a pool...

meh, i got my answers on cryptsy chat
1277  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ASIC Testing on Scrypt? on: September 01, 2013, 05:36:35 AM
It seems fairly straight forward for the guys @ wemineltc to see what's going on...

Large miners will have upwards of 3 or 4 cards per mobo, meaning at least perhaps 2MH/s from each miner connected...

If that account is seeing tens of thousands of connections with <1MH/s chances = botnet.
If that account is seeing a couple thousand connections with >2MH/s chances = GPU farm.

Perhaps I'm missing something but seems quite straight forward?

and if it just one connection or two?
