The only way it would happen again is if they did a soft fork that had mistakes.

nope
people are to reliant on core. and even just last year there was a bug at software level that ignored doing a vital check at a certain time, this meant it could have been exploited to create more coins.

luckily it was not exploited. but the problem is if it was exploited everyone has become reliant on core to hand out a patch, which should they choose to or not becomes a question. not a certainty.

we are not in the 2010 scenario of everyone coding their own independant clients and if there is a bug patching it themselves. instead the community is reliant on core.
we are not as decentralised as we may think
12662  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scarcity is one of the leading factors of Bitcoins value on: November 07, 2019, 12:35:44 PM
Yes if smallest unit of bitcoin is one bitcoin but that not really true since 1 bitcoin can be further divided into 100,000,000 sats so what if we convert 21,000,000 bitcoins into sats then it will be 2,100,000,000,000,000 sats which is more than enough even if everyone using bitcoin as their only currency for every payment they make so less number of bitcoin units is not the only reason for price to be hiked.

1. imagine there were 2100 coins(could be split) only 2100 could own it. but if 4200 want it. a bidding war would occur raising the price EG if coins were $1 each people would refuse to sell for less than double($2)

2. imagine there were 2100 coins(could be split in 2) where 4200 could own it. if 4200 want it. they can al have a piece and the bids wont be as high. instead if 2100 coins were $1 each people would refuse to sell for less than$1 a coin but could be swayed to sell a half coin for $0.60-$1 =whole coin $1.20-$2

in example one price would exceed $2. where as example 2 shows price only at extreme may reach $2

..
3. able to split into 10 pieces
ven less chance of $2 per whole coin. and more chance of ~$1.20 a whole coin

....
4. if there were 2,100,000,000,000,000 units. and someone buggd the code an 'destroyed' it down to just 2100 nits. demand would rise
5. if core devs STUPIDLY!! implemented 'millisats' (1000x unit supply(btc with 12 decimals)) demand would fall

But I love competition! Bring it boys and girls!

Aaron

aaron here is another tip for another algo
bitcoin richlist
increase and decrease of exchange hoards indicate if mor people are depositing or withdrawing from exchanges. which indicates the supply.
not so accurate. but its a kind of extra indicies to include with other indicies
(coins held in addresses of 100 coins or more)

EG if there are 2 separate days where
C:M= $6k:$9k with 0.7m on exchange address richlist
C:M= $6k:$9k with 1.7m on exchange address richlist
a sell off is impending

C:M= $6k:$6k with 1.7m on exchange address richlist
C:M= $6k:$6k with 0.7m on exchange address richlist
the sell off has ended and new buyers ar taking coins oout, not intending to sell any time soon

anyway you have don very good at understanding the fundementals
atleast you have not fallen into the TRENDS of 'history repeats itself cos random angle line says so'

your learning and understanding TECHNICAL analysis and not falling for TREND analysis. which is good
12664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This Analysis Makes Bitcoin Easy on: November 07, 2019, 12:01:37 PM
So why the price dropped to $3000? when the price was $ 3000 I heard a certain mining company say that the price must be above $ 9500 for the mining to be profitable again (I don't know if this mining company was telling the truth or not)

actual history of events
cost was ~$5.6k and market price was $6k-$8k during that summer

then mining cost dropped to $3k in october thus this causd the market price to sway negative as the profit margin was super high.. which resulted in the market price dipping to ~$4k in november

sepember-october was the whole cheap bitmain S9=chap mining.. also newer s15=cheaper mining

have a good day
12665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scarcity is one of the leading factors of Bitcoins value on: November 07, 2019, 11:32:28 AM
things people are missing
analogy
people think there could only be 21million fruit oranges meaning only 21million people will get to taste what a fruit tastes like and be able to own the fruit for life

however oranges can be peeled way into smaller segments and have 210 million people have a taste of orange. infact oranges can then be cut up further and 2.1trillion people can know what a orang tastes like

this dos not mean that each 'piece' a person gets multiplies by 100,000,000. but instead they get 100,000,000 smaller a piece

thus its not scarce because there are more pieces than people. everyone can have a bit. no one can say there will never be enough pieces for everyone.

its not like a physical coin that only minted 100000 coins. coz with physical coins there can and only ever be 100000 owners of a coin.

markets do not change in relation to scarcity (21m) as that 21m number has been a factor for 10 years and has never changed and yet in 2009 when only 2mill were available the price was low. and now with 18m available the price is high.. which is an obvious counter indicator to scarcity

however the 'availability' (supply/demand) of just the custodian hoards of exchanges (1.2m right now of coins on exchanges) affect the price more
aswell as the decision to buy or to mine depending on the cost to mine 1btc vs the price to buy 1btc sways people to do one or the other to a varying degree.

scarcity of 21m is not a point again for emphasis 21m has ben a fixed number all along
its population demand for it (adoption desire) and market availability(market custodial hoards 1.2m NOT the 18m circulation)
12666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This Analysis Makes Bitcoin Easy on: November 07, 2019, 11:15:46 AM
the analysis has merit.. (though i do hold positive bias to the formulae its based on wink wink)
the whole cost of creation is important because if someone has $10k and wants bitcoin they can choose to mine or just buy
when its cheaper to mine they will mine and then sell.. causing price drop

when its not so cheap to mine and inconvenient at the time to start mining they will just buy, causing a price ris

adding to this. when mining and price are soo close that there is no profit in it they wont sell (hlping creating a support line)
they also wont sell at a loss

thus in a scenario of

C:M (cost:market)
$6k:$9k more people are ready to sell for 3k extra
$6k:$8k less people are ready to sell for 2k extra
$6k:$7k even less people are ready to sell for 1k extra
$6k:$6k no people are ready to sell for 0k extra

$6k:$9k less willing to buy at 3k premium.. but lots of people want to mine
$6k:$8k slightly more people are ready to buy a 2k premuim. less wanting to mine
$6k:$7k even more people are ready to by for only 1k extra. even less wanting to mine
$6k:$6k lots of people are ready to buy for 0k extra. less see point of mining if thy can just buy at same cost

but here is one important thing to take note of
this analysis is not for the minute by minute swings as it takes time for the scenario to play out and sway peoples emotions of whats cheap and expensive. but if overall of a 3month average
the market price has a high speculation layer of hype/profit. many are ready to sell.. less ready to buy
the market price has a low speculation layer of hype/profit. many are ready to buy.. less ready to sell

12667  Other / Politics & Society / Re: a society question about vegans on: November 07, 2019, 10:34:47 AM
I'm vegan, and have been for about 10 years. I don't think we should torture and kill animals, but I'm not a raving zealot about it. I generally try not to mention I'm vegan as I know a lot of people get antagonised.

The huge herds of animals we have for food - yes there would be a problem of what to do with them if they are no longer being eaten. It's a man-made problem though, we created those herds. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to find a solution.

man actually controls farm animal population
did you know there are less cows on a farm than there are mice on a farm.
man controls the cows but not the mice

im not into 'torture' but the facts are animals do die. and just letting animals reproduce by not separating the genders will cause over population.
its why bulls are separated from cows and artificially inseminated.. its why roosters are kept from chickens

though an example im about to mention is a bit of a childish illustration of simplifying it down. but the lion king is a most basic demonstration of the result of a civilation with no code/rule where everything goes back to survival of the fittest. by this i mean what happens in the period where mufasa isnt around to keep everyone responsible and everything is left to fate. it turns to wasteland

again im not into torture (killing for sport) but humane slaughter and using the bi-product of such. is better than just over population, disease epidemics, rotting carcusses and people having bad diets.

think about all the fruit and veg going to waste in a situation of no culling/no pesticide/no insecticide society. even imagine the cows who are not being hand fed in troths, but stampeding through fields eating vegetable farmers crops

imagine cows like racoons or foxes that do enter cities. but instead of just a 20lb animal its a 500lb animal running around
12668  Other / Off-topic / Re: Love - its just a physical attraction? on: November 07, 2019, 10:18:56 AM
lust is the physical attraction

my family are ugly, but i still love them

love is about caring and wanting to help/protect them, wanting to do something positive for others, and the feeling of something positive done to you by others
12669  Other / Politics & Society / Re: a society question about vegans on: November 07, 2019, 09:12:10 AM
I think the best solution in a post-carnivore world is to just cull domestic animals and keep some remaining in zoos

so in a post farming society (farming to cage and kill animals) you propose a culling and zoo society(caging and killing animals)

the only difference i see is the bi product of the culling is just carcusses left to rot. more human starvation due to the remaining wild animals eating all the fruit and veg meant for humans while offering no meat protein into a diet

oh and if you suggest neutering animals and incinerating carcusses. how many racoons, rats, birds, flies, possums, dingos, coyotes have you seen avoiding cities, how many get neutered. and how much polution is produced by burning a mass culling of wild herds
12670  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Evolution is a hoax on: November 07, 2019, 08:55:52 AM
alot of people still think that evolution is god. or just time if same species mutation without cross-breeding..

so lets change the word cross-breeding and differing species, to b the word 'race'

imagine a devolved greyback gorilla and an devolved orangatang is the same as a middle aged american guy with blonde hair and a young irish lass with ginger hair..  they both become attracted to each other

the offspring might have blonde hair, might have very rich red hair, or might be a strawberry blonde
suddenly where strawberry blondes were not a thing. becomes a thing..
not due to climate/environmental changes. not due to survival of the fittest. not due to only blondes banging other only blondes and a mutant head pops out.. but also by cross breeding between differing variants of species that are compatible enough to have a viable pregnancy

again millions of years ago the species divide was less spread out and cross breeding caused evolutions to occur much faster due to cross breeding rather than environment adaptations over thousands of years

take skin colour. in thousands of years there was just whites and blacks. but since the end of segregation in the last century and transport allowed the two to meet up and fall inlove. we have now seen a population change from just dark vs pale to being tanned and exotic skin colours

a modern example of evolution can be that all 'descended humans' become a creamy coffee skin tone instead of the black/pale white divide of history
12671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How someones made 184 Billion Bitcoin appear out of nowhere on: November 07, 2019, 08:38:55 AM
A great reminder of such happening. I actually have already read and known about this piece of history in Bitcoin and its quite fascinating how exploits are done on these complicated code with determination. I also admire and impressed that a decentralized network has proven that with its system, the power is upon the people and not some central organization, and the fate is totally dependent to the users of the platform, thus the soft fork won over the exploited version of the blockchain.

these days people are now reliant on core releasing an update
as said in previous post in 2010 a couple dozen people (who were predominently coders) could self patch thier own code. these days of a couple hundred thousand people that could be affected in a similar 19hour event. (who are not predominantly coders) have to rely on core to give them a patch

after all. imagine an bug was found now. it was exploited and although core devs taking hours to figure out the cause and make a patch. a exploiter already planned the evnt and had code that also does other nasty stuff, just announces he has a version that can patch the first bug (but trojans new bugs) .. people have to review his codebase. and learn to trust it. or wait and pray that core hurries up.

people have already prefered to wait for core and ignore any non core devs from offering an unreviewed client that is advertised as fixing bitcoin issues

bitcoin 2019 is not the same as bitcoin 2010. so dont think the events of 2010 prove what 2019 is in regards to decentralisation and community power
12672  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How someones made 184 Billion Bitcoin appear out of nowhere on: November 07, 2019, 07:54:36 AM
there was a similar bug recently done by bad code by matt corrallo and supposedly rviewed and allowed to enter bitcoin cores codebase by gmax. lucky the code was not exploited and a patch was released. but it still happens.

back in 2010 though (that bug was exploited) was much easier to get many participants to drop a 19hour old chain without much financial harm of doing so(as it becomes a double spend where the customer suddenly gets their money back) because not many services existed back then and not many transactions per block were being performed

19 hours is not just 114 blocks of 1 or 2 tx's each which are most likely to just be small 'tester' transactions.. but these days 19hours is 114 blocks of ~2000. these days its not just something that may affct a couple hundred pople/transactions users.. its something that can now affect a couple hundred thousand of users/transactions. these days its not 1cent at risk per btc, but $8k+ at risk per btc
so orphaning off a dud chain, causing a double spend event causes more consequences and can cause more companies to be less accepting/willing to just do it for the benefit of bitcoin longevity
12673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Off-Chain Transactions Private? on: November 07, 2019, 07:36:06 AM
-snip-

You do not have to adhere to KYC requirements when you host a Bitcoin node or if you want to make a transaction on the Blockchain, so why would this become a requirement for running a Lightning Network hub?

It's purely theoretical, but since exchanges are required to comply with KYC regulations, it's possible that extends to hubs they run. I'm not sure if it's practical or even possible to enforce (I would love it if someone could set the record straight), but I often see it being brought up. All I was basically saying is that even if this were the case, I'm sure there will always be non-KYC hubs.

1. exactly like why exchanges suddenly became compelled to do KYC to continue operating. so will hubs.
its not about having to b an exchange that is running a hub. just any hub could b compelled to register as a KYC required service custodian.
2.it is possible to enforce. have you not seen how the 'NewYork bitcoin licence' changed things years ago. all it had to do was get a new york residing person to do something with any service around the world. and suddenly the service is stung.
many people on local bitcoin got hit like this whereby they were suddenly informed they were operating as a money transmitter business offering a service to new york without a NY bitcoin licence

imagine it like prohibiting alcohol. cops going around to all social clubs and dance rooms, and asking th staff if they can buy a beer, if the staff gives them a beer with a wink wink nudge nudge. suddenly the handcuffs come out

LN uses IP info. oh and before you spout out how people can proxyIP thier way to privacy
a. proxy'ing may hide your IP. but then your not in full control in things that particular IP is upto as others are using it too. this opens a hacker attempt to then also use same proxy to become your IP to mess with your channel partner in some way.

b. people doing localbitcoin swaps dont reveal IP when communicating with their customer yet still get stung for operating as a MSB. for people trying to run a legitimate service like selling alpaca socks for LN whereby they offer a returns service and refunds. then expect many ways to be found. (such as you including your returns postal address for the goods if customer wants a refund)

trying to assume things like NY bitcoin licence is unenforceable 'cos bitcoin pseaudonomous' ud be wrong. many people have been slapped and stung
just saying 'coz bitcoin' or 'coz proxy' or 'coz crypto' just remember
trendon shavers, dred pirate roberts and mtgox got in legal trouble
12674  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Car and Driver licensing on: November 07, 2019, 12:04:50 AM
I noticed about the full circle thing. In fact, you are spinning on your full circle so fast that you are way beyond dizzy... like insanely dizzy.

ok last try to wake you up..
it seems you now deny facts of common law. like tresspass because it doesnt fit your script
so lets try your lentz law

you (and lentz) say you can create your own court and claim against someone under your law.. either it be common law, lentz law, sharia law whatever

but why then.. does lentz himself bring up the queens bench when talking about common law UK.. i thought you both were adamant that your scripts meant that people no matter what court they are summoned to locally or nationally, should make a claim in that court.. how can they make their own court

see how easy lentz law falls apart when you start questioning his scripts
atleast try just once to not be a full believer of lentz law AKA freeman stuff and just attempt for fairness of wanting to learn try to question it

by the way my question was rhetorical i dont need th answer as i know what it is. but for your benefit. dont just reply with some old script you heard or your twists to try to sound right. atleast do some critical thinking research and find out what actually is possible and what has actually been proven possible and not just the hypothetical misdirects of freeman/lentz and friends

goodnight
12675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Off-Chain Transactions Private? on: November 06, 2019, 10:10:04 PM
If a LN channel keeps a record of transactions performed off-chain, then they could serve as targets for worldwide governments.
The way Lightning routing works is much like Tor. It uses what is known as "source routing" and "onion routing". Source routing means you as the sender pick the route your transaction takes, and onion routing means you encrypt said route in layers. Each node you "hop" through can only see the last node the transaction came from, and where to route it to next. It knows nothing about the rest of the transaction, where it originated, or where it will end up. Each node doesn't know if the node before it was the sender or just an intermediary, and also doesn't know if the node it is sending to is the final destination or just an intermediary.

So far, I haven't seen a LN explorer where it's possible to search transactions made on the network.
There is no such thing. The only transactions which are broadcast are when channels are opened or closed. Everything else remains off chain and therefore can't be "explored" like on chain transaction can.

not quite true
i would explain in waffly form but here ill give you a link of a random node and show you exactly what amounts it has
https://1ml.com/node/021b56ff970675aa576ba3be3c7fe1e8faf0df70a5a03fcbaffcaad17f3dd05711/channels
it becomes easy to 'follow the money' hop to hop by watching for the changes
(hint how can a node find a route unless it knows all the balances of all possible routes to then choose a route)
12676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Off-Chain Transactions Private? on: November 06, 2019, 09:50:36 PM
Upon interacting with LN channels a couple of times, I've been starting to wonder about the privacy of LN transactions. Sending Bitcoin off-chain seems to be a great way to encourage micropayments, but it's up to debate whenever transactions are truly private from the channel's end. If a LN channel keeps a record of transactions performed off-chain, then they could serve as targets for worldwide governments. I suppose that it'll be much easier for governments to track down LN payments than on-chain BTC payments.

So far, I haven't seen a LN explorer where it's possible to search transactions made on the network. What I can only see are nodes and channels on the same. Still, I'm curious to know the level of privacy of Off-chain transactions relative to On-chain transactions performed on the main Bitcoin blockchain.

Do you think that Off-chain transactions are truly private after all? What are your thoughts? Huh

depends on private
the LN network map is very revealing you can see how much balance each node and their channels have so when you take a snapshot and then take another snapshot you can see where changes are made and know where millisats moved to and from
if
a-[1:3]-o-[8:0]-s-[8:0]-c-[1:3]-x
b-[3:1]/                        \-[1:3]-z
becomes
a-[1:3]-o-[7:1]-s-[7:1]-c-[0:4]-x
b-[2:2]/                        \-[1:3]-z
its easy to see b paid x 1 by using o s c

what blockchain based networks still do not do is identify the product/service involved in a trade/transaction nor does it reveal details of the person(s) transacting birth certificate details

however LN is IP locator based so more risk of finding out personal details of those involved.
LN requires finding out if payments can succeed by knowing values available over a route. so things can be done to make it increasing easy to know which IP paid which IP even with multiple route hops in the middle
12677  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What about Gibraltar? on: November 06, 2019, 08:05:41 PM
gibralter has many hidden things going on.

such as some african countries set up businesses in gibralter to then be 'a british company' without having to travel thousands of miles to get to actual britain

(hint: egypt makes more potato than what the UK thinks it gets from irish(EU) land while still technically calling it a british farming company )
its complicated but yea. it happens
12678  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Car and Driver licensing on: November 06, 2019, 07:02:01 PM
oh im laughing

we have gon full circle to 7 pages ago.. and you still dont realise it

on my property i can have my own house rules. such as charge you for tresspassing it. i can set up my own court in my barn where the punishment is a fine or worse

when you break the laws of someone elses property, you end up in THEIR court
you trying to assume governments courts are your courts is your massive failure of all your freeman speaches

you cannot go into a english led court of law of british or american bases and then walk in trying to proclaim your own court of sharia law or freeman law.

or whatever mis-directed 4 table leg version thats not common law.

you need to learn what law is followed by which court. G government court has family, criminal, civil and true(unfreeman twisted(not BD's scripts)) common law.
remember the jury do not know or understand your sharia/BD's Lentz faith law/freeman misbeliefs. they are following the courts procedures because they are in that court.
12679  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Car and Driver licensing on: November 06, 2019, 05:51:43 PM
Right. So if the owner or the renter files a claim against an accused, they will probably win. But if they file a complaint, and the accused files a proper claim, they will probably lose to the one they accused.

Now let's get back on topic. If the car is your property, and some cop or judge gives you an order to license it, they should pay you to do so. Free country. No slavery. Right to travel.

Cool

your shoe is your property, and you travel in your shoes
but if you step onto someone elses land you are tresspassing on their property(their land)
and getting into freeman discussions about trying to waffle about how you describe your footwear or what brand it is or the purpose of your footwear or who owns your footware becomes meaningless..
because you still tresspasseed on the farmers property

if you want to try dismissing the fact of tresspass and property. then guess what. the car is not yours anyone can take the car at any time and travel without your consent using the car.

so now your left without the car and without anyone paying your pathetic invoice

DNA was made and created by God. It doesn't have anything to do with evolution. It DOES have to do with devolution, since the whole world is devolving.

GOD is a word created by man less than a couple centuries ago.

you can if you desire see your DNA but try finding god
