Thanks to Cscape for hand-assembling these boards!  This is long, neck-wrenching work to do all this by hand!
Wow, that must of have been painful. Im completely useless with a soldering iron.. but the little I have done makes me appreciate anyone capable of doing work on this scale.
Nearly all the work is done using reflow technique, so there's very little hand soldering involved, but a lot of manual picking & placing with fine tipped tweezers. Each board has 240 capacitors in 0402 size, and about 60 other components.

you are insane.  respect!

2) Per the website:
- 25 GH = 16 chips & 400 GH = 16*16 = 256 chips ->  they both average ~1.5GH per chip.
- But the chip page states 2.7 GH per chip.

Does that mean the 25 GH full kit's real hashrate is ~43GH(2.7 * 16), and the 400GH is ~691 GH(2.7 * 256)?

3) Are the inventory numbers for the Oct fullkits accurate? right now it shows a 378 unit left for the 400GH, if all 378 gets sold will they all be delivered in Oct?

Thanks, i like how this is not dependent on avalon and already has asic chips in hand.

buzzdave, can you please answer the above questions, i am thinking of placing an order for the oct 400gh unit after the july shipment was confirmed, but like to have the above answered. Thanks

Hi buzzdave,

i am sorry if this was already discussed but i couldnt find an exact response so hoping you can clarify again.

1) August 400GH fullkit is ~$19k & October 400GH is $8k.  But August and October 25GH are both $1.3k.  Why is the 400GH at >50% discount for Oct but the 25GH has the same price as Aug?

2) Per the website:

silly question, what's the point of selling the chips alone if no one has the board to put them on?

Some people, who have the knowledge and skill required, like to design their own miners around bare chips.

July bare chip buyers: we are starting shipping soon.  Tytus will be shipping them to me Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.  I ordered enough from Tytus to handle a few extra orders of the 10 pc cut tape for July, but not too many.

For bare chip buyers, we provide design files for Bitfury's single chip test adapter, which has schematics and instructions, as well as the reference design for the M & H boards we sell.

Cheers,
Dave

if bitfury's asic chips are already shipping, why is noone offering design/assembly services for those asic chips and instead all crowded over the avalon chips which is still in hope & dream mode given their shady track record.  Dont understand.

Looks like there are still plenty chips available for july shipment, i would buy them if someone can assemble them as i dont have the expertise.

It's just strange so many people and investment are made on the avalon chips yet this asic chip is ready now and shipping but noone seem to care.

Why?

fyi for someone who was maintaining that spreadsheet, i cancelled my order ( #1195 ) this morning and requested for paypal refund.  Havent got a response from terrahash yet.

terrahash, when will my paypal refund be issued? support ticket was created yesterday morning, order #1195 thanks

fyi i got my money back via paypal claim, terrahash never responded or issued a refund. There is no point debating TH's legitimacy as we are all adults and can make our own financial decisions and assess risk/reward. For me personally, i have been around the block a few times and cannot justify risking $10k on good faith with TH after their behavior in the past few weeks - it's a personal choice.

But there are a couple items anyone looking for a refund should know, as there have been so much confusion & misinformation in this thread:

1) If you paid with bitcoin or wire - you are done: full hope & pray mode.

2) If you paid with paypal via credit card - you are fine, can file a chargeback with the credit card company directly and always get your money back, dont bother even go through paypal.

3) If you paid with echeck or funds in paypal, then you will ONLY get your money back if paypal is able to recover the money from TH's account.  It doesnt matter if paypal decide in your favor, if they cannot recover the fund you are not getting your money back.  Paypal actually did us a great service by locking terrahash's fund initially so they cannot transfer out. Also when you file a dispute, paypal will lock the fund to prevent them from been transferred out, but if the money was already not in the account, you are out of luck.

4) Paypal dispute doesnt do anything it's just a back & forth message with the seller, escalate to a claim right away dont waste time with dispute comments, only in claim mode will paypal start looking at the transaction after about 10 days wait.

5) 3) and 4) assumes TH still has a balance in their paypal account and didnt clean out, otherwise refer to 1).

Hope this clarifies for those looking to get a refund. Good luck guys i hope you all get your hardware on time and make a lot of money.

As more asics flood the market, bitcoin value will continue to tank

what does asic = increased difficulty have to do with bitcoin tanking?
1294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Prices Crashing Now! on: July 05, 2013, 09:16:19 PM
If you have a majority of your networth in bitcoin you better believe in bitcoin.

I don't care what the price does because I'm participating in this movement because I believe in the potential for bitcoin to refresh the global financial structure. I am just going to try to continue spending bitcoin at any price, ideally making all of my purchases with them asap and cutting the banks out of my life. If all the speculators follow suit the amount of money being made buying high and selling low right now will seem truly laughable.

Every revolution requires sacrifice.

sadly the largest market for bitcoin by far is asic hardware purchases, with the sole purpose of generating btc to sell.
1295  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Prices Crashing Now! on: July 05, 2013, 05:54:23 PM
BTC is literally like Gold. Falling...

I suspect many are dumping btc and jumping on gold. Not a bad strategy given gold's current price.

nobody is jumping on gold, stop making stuff up. The crash is a combination of factors, take your pick

1) mtgox re-enabled cash withdraw, all the people who exchanged cash for btc to transfer out for safe keeping are doing the reverse trade now

2) i dont know how much this actually applies to btc specifically, but looking at it macro, interest rates are going up and market is stable. Under those conditions, you will see mass cash outflow from safe heavens like gold/silver, btc is in the same category.

3) asic preorder craze has died down, you had am/bfl/avalon/knc/terrahash etc.. asic orders/preorders all firing off all require btc as payment. Now that all those preorders have died down, there is not such a demand for btc.  On the flipside, some those btc received by those guys are getting converted to cash. Double whammy.

4) in the end view it as a part of your high risk diversified investment portfolio, if you have a majority of your networth in btc you should have cashed out a long time ago, noone to blame but yourself.

My TH refund experience:

Started on approx June 24 late at night.

Finally got my refund today.  PAINFUL and HORRIBLE process with TH in my case.  Now that i got it i will post.

I had originally asked in a paypal dispute.  Did not know about ticket system for refunds. Note if you open a dispute it will automatically mark you as refunded on thier site this is not true!  Don't get false hope out of seeing it there, its automatic with a paypal dispute with their system.

After i read about ticket system on here, put in multiple tickets asking for help.  No response given in timely manner.  Turned into claim once paypal would let me. The claim triggered a response on one of my tickets. At this point finally got a response from TH they basically threatened me in email saying close claim or let paypal decide it.  They had no interest in working within paypal for my refund, only to get a claim closed against them (dispute they didn't care about it seemed only claim got any attention).

So at this point had claim opened.  Waiting for TH to respond within paypal with their side so paypal could judge case.  They never even responded, so had to wait till their timeline was over to submit their side.

Finally today was able to call paypal since TH's time had expired on responding.  Paypal ruled in my favor.  The money is on its way back and will be spent in another venture.

So final thoughts took me from June 24th to July 5th to get my money back.  Hope your refunds go easier then mine, and if not i feel your pain!

thank you for sharing, i am going through the exact same process.  I will not comment until i have received refund but it's pretty clear what th is doing now. All doubts removed.

Progress Update: https://terrahash.com/progress-update/

About PayPal: A resolution is in sight, and we are quiet confident that we won't have to cancel/refund all PayPal orders. However, we are waiting for the final word before we can be 100% sure.

Also, we will start taking assembly only orders next week after we get our test circuit hashing.

Hi you still have not answered my support ticket or paypal claim for a refund for #1195 even though you changed the order status to refunded.  I have escalated to paypal, please take a look and refund my money.
1299  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL refund through Paypal claim on: July 04, 2013, 01:16:42 AM
Of course to find a "BFL" legal entity or an individual to take to court is a different matter entirely,  as far as i know bfl is completely anonymous, just some website ran by a bunch unknown individuals. There is no legal LLC or legal ownership established. So who are you going to sue to get your money back if paid via btc or wire?   Only way is to go through the criminal route, but the feds wont even look at it if it's less than 7 figures, and if the individual are outside of the US you can completely forget about it.

https://wyobiz.wy.gov/Business/FilingDetails.aspx?eFNum=149144214231010201167112190255028042109060235081

BFL is a US corporation, but the owners are unknown.

rofl they actually did a corp?  okie i didnt know that, then you can take them to court, there is no owner as it's a corp, you go after the entity itself. Of course it's almost guaranteed they will file for bankruptcy if enough people try. You can then go after the officers/directors themselves if you can show criminal(fraud) took place. The shareholders for the corp can also sue the management for misleading the investors, but in this case it's probably all the same people anyway.

I got a partial refund for the case.  It was done in a fairly timely manner.  They answered my calls.  I guess that's why I'm not freaking out.  They are just waiting for PayPal, bkk and avalon.  Vacation til Monday.

can you clarify? paypal give you a partial refund? or terrahash give you a partial refund?  why partial and not full?
