12841  Economy / Services / Re: Introducing the Bitcoin 100: A Kickstarter for Charities on: October 22, 2012, 12:12:21 AM

This time I don't have a leg to stand one. I (Bruno) take full responsibility for the inaction of Bitcoin 100, offering up no excuses.

That said, if in 30 days we (mostly I) do not obtain a charity to accept Bitcoin as a payment option as outlined by Bitcoin 100 terms, then by all means all funds currently on deposit should be returned to those who've donated.

CornedBeefHash, among others, have been more than patient in this regard.

Somebody, please quote this post for posterity. Meanwhile, I have a letter to pen, for I have a charity in mind that just might add Bitcoin as a payment option to its donation page.

Thank again, CBH, for bringing this back to the forefront.

I just watched the video, and have a question. The voiceover mentions that the drivers pay a high fee when accepting credit cards and that they also have to eat any chargebacks. Is the chargeback aspect true? I was under the impression that the cab companies of which the cab drivers least from are the ones that take care of credit card payments, paying the drivers minus the fees, but eat the chargebacks.

For the average listener, this makes nice copy whether true or false, but cabbies, or somebody in a similar payment-type industry, would know the truth.

Overall, a pretty good video/commercial, but a little lame at the very end, with no disrespect if that gentleman happens to be the proprietor.

Bruno,

Most of the drivers are independent contractors, meaning that they handle their own billing, and the company offers them an umbrella to work under with referrals, etc.  In this case, the drivers assume 100% of the loss on an unpaid fare, or a chargeback.

Some companies do handle the billing and have the drivers simply as employees, but after surveying the market, this is definitely the minority of cases.

How is Rashid by the way?

I didn't do my homework before I asked the question. I stand corrected.

I still have that custom wallet designed for Rashid as a gift for joining this forum, but only been to Chicago 2-3 times since meeting him, but had to get in and out quickly, thus not making an appointment to run into him. Also, since that time, a lot of negativity concerning Bitcoin was making the rounds and I wouldn't have been properly armed with answers if questions arose, thus another reason for me personally not taking the effort to persuade Rushid. I'm just now getting my Mojo back, if you know what I mean.

Why are you interested in that wallet again?

I have my reasons.

TIL: My theory that Bruno always has a picture to any conversation, regardless as to its relevance is a fact.

It's no longer a theory.

In the spirit of Pi, I propose all future bids from this point forward should be in the form of .XXXXXXXX gleaned from some Pi generating site like http://www.piday.org/million.php. When the times comes where the bid exceeds a whole number, simply place the decimal accordingly (XX.XXXXXXXX, with always 8 digits to the right of the decimal). Everybody loves pie. My favorite is elderberry.

Still upset I called you a name? lol!

Loup, I think Goat meant: Still upset I called you by name?

I don't have an alpaca in..., mainly 'cause I like you both: I envy Loup's writings, and not really sure why I like goat, but I do. That said, I would turn on a dime if any nefarious information came to light, probably of Goat first.

Later, guys.

Taxonomy has been called "the world's oldest profession",[7] and naming and classifying our surroundings has likely been taking place as long as mankind has been able to communicate. It would always have been important to know the names of poisonous and edible plants and animals in order to communicate this information to other members of the family or group.

Did prostitution come before communication? Or the other way around? This is the world's oldest chicken-and-egg problem. Which is never a problem if you ask me. Like all those famous paradoxes, I never find them paradoxical. It's all semantics. Which brings me back to naming things, i.e. taxonomy. Or prostitution. Same thing.

Phylogenetically speaking with both, a tree is involved.

If there's a tree involved, you're probably doing the prostitution part wrong.

If only there were a book to prove you wrong. Oh, wait...

If you weren't so busy getting mesmerized by pooh, you would have noticed the 2-3 inch tall My Little Pony on his desk.

HAHA ....I think he has a beer bottle also amongst the My Little Pony Tongue

Heinken on top shelf to the left ...

Noticed that it's unopened? Cap is still on and you can see the liquid level, slightly lower than if it were a new bottle. My guess is that it's some sort of souvenir edition Heineken.

BTW, does anybody know the name of that My Little Pony? I know it's not Pinkie Pie.

Rainbow Dash

SOB! You're right. I just Googled it.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong. Is that a GI-Joe doll in his bed laying on one of the what appears to be dinosaur pillows? (towards the end when the camera pans)
