Somebody send them an email, surely they'll decide to accept them.
1302  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: mt.gox - how long does it take to add my funds to acc? on: December 23, 2012, 08:44:19 AM
1. Its Christmas
2. Wire transfers are really slow and can take up to 3 weeks. Blame the banks for this.
3. Monday is a bank holiday in Japan which has slowed things down.
4. Depositing direct to MtGox is one of the slowest ways to get BTC, depending on your country.
1303  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ASIC found running?!?! some guy in russia just started a 6000Ghash/s machine! on: December 23, 2012, 06:35:58 AM
Those charts are only estimates & are frequently incorrect. Its very possible that its just a lucky-streak.
1304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bored Built the Bitcoin ChatRoom on: December 23, 2012, 06:26:15 AM
I don't know why you used Java for this. A lot of people don't install it due to the hundreds of vulnarabilities that have been discovered in it. There are a bunch of flash-based chatrooms you could use instead.
1305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buying hardware vs Buying Bitcoins? on: December 23, 2012, 03:31:48 AM
could the dip be because of the coming ASIC? maybe people are dropping out early seeing that mining isn't really going to be fruitful at this time Cry

The dip happened right after the block reward changed to 25BTC, which means that miners are earning half of what they used to earn. I don't think people are worried about ASIC's yet as there isn't even a working ASIC protoype at the moment.

Unless you're getting free electricity & were thinking about buying a new GPU anyway, I wouldn't recommend getting into GPU mining as it'll generate cents/month once the ASIC's hit (whenever that is).

Let me guess, you're going to remain anonymous while you run this?

1310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Miners! What pools do you use? on: December 22, 2012, 10:00:18 PM
How much on average do you earn from a pool in a day?

That depends entirely on your hardware's hashing power.
1311  Economy / Securities / Re: TyGrr Insurance Hedge your GLBSE risk. on: December 22, 2012, 03:06:27 PM
Goat's been banned so I don't think he'll be replying.

I know, just thought it was a pretty funny thread to resurrect.

So..... did you pay out all of your customers claims?
1313  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will Litecoins be worth in a year or two? on: December 22, 2012, 02:25:58 PM
You know also that Bitcoin was supposed to be mined by many different CPU processors in its beginning and it was not envisioned that people would make pools, fill warehouses with GPU and try to develop ASIC for it? It's not because that the ending result is not the same as the original vision that the project is worthless.

Actually, you're wrong. Satoshi did mention many times that he envisioned in the future Bitcoin mining would be done by specialist hardware (ASIC's). Everybody knew CPU-mining was an extremely inefficient way to secure the blockchain, but there was no alternative at the time. Pooled mining wasn't envisioned, however pools are dying out due to projects such as P2Pool.

Also I think you're missing the point here. Litecoin's one and only purpose was to be CPU minable only (Google if you don't believe me), and obviously enough, it isn't & wasn't from the get go.
1314  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it possible to buy less than a full Bitcoin? on: December 22, 2012, 01:40:48 PM
Post your address and I'll send you 0.005BTC, that should cover your tx fees.
1315  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Intersango - Who can I complain to? on: December 22, 2012, 11:45:12 AM
Instead of a reference code the message field was set to "SILK ROAD".

 Roll Eyes

Now that is pretty pretty stupid. I'm going to side with Intersango on this, if this was me I woulda sent that wire STRAIGHT back for this alone.
1316  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Liberty Payout (lrp) and wallet.dat exploit on: December 22, 2012, 10:54:09 AM
Excuses, excuses. Save it for the judge.

Check out their FAQ:

Is your hardware based on a custom ASIC chip?
No, the hardware is comprised of AMD GPU stream processors on VLIW-5 architecture

Hmmm. Seems legit.
1318  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Client finally synched but first Bitcoin not there?? on: December 22, 2012, 10:12:41 AM
Out of curiosity as Im new to this if my computer broke down would I lose my bitcoins?

If you do not have a backup of your wallet.dat file then yes you will lose your coins. I recommend you make a backup ASAP.

And if the seller sends me the bitcoin later will I need to shut down and reopen the client or will it show up without that

It will show up without needing to reopen the client.
1319  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Client finally synched but first Bitcoin not there?? on: December 22, 2012, 09:58:19 AM

1320  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Liberty Payout ($1000) on: December 22, 2012, 09:30:40 AM
I'm going to go do other things with my life. I'll be back, try not to contact Obama while I'm gone.

So you're leaving for a while with everyones BTC/cash?
