The mistake Ten Hag made was no starting with Ronaldo with a view to replacing him on the 65-70 minute mark but to bring him on at 4-0 down would have been a wrong thing to do. I am unsure if that classes him as a coward but as the season progresses we will have to see what happens. Also while the derby defeat was very bad, I feel the player’s are to be blamed more because in the first 5 minutes it felt like they already knew that they were going to lose. Lastly I wouldn’t be surprised if both the team’s missed the champions league spot, but then it’s also possible that one of them wins the champions league and automatically qualify for it next year. |

Yes this is true. When the viewers or audiences are losing interest, investment in test matches are expected to nothing but losses. Especially in Asia, the importance of test match is reduced day by day. Local cricket boards are not willing to keep test match in the series. Since T20 has more viewers, ICC should give more importance to T20 along with ODI format.
I don't agree with this. Most of the teams still play 8 to 12 test matches per year, which translates to 40 to 60 days of test cricket. Much less amount of time is devoted for T20 cricket (if we count only international cricket and not the franchise leagues). IMO, there is no point for a team in playing more than 3-4 test matches, given the popularity of this specific format and the revenue it bring. In case they have separate teams for different formats, the this issue doesn't arise. But that is not the case now. @Sithara007 the ODI format can be revamped by changing the existing rules for power play, and by arranging more Night ODI matches. Lastly in my personal opinion the ODI is a lucrative format that ICC will continue, but it needs more changes otherwise people will soon lose interest in this format too, thus it’ll be interesting to see what kind of changes does ICC implement for the ODI format. |

I don't know how far this has affected cricket. Just think of yourself getting immigrated into another country. After spending specific number of years, you'll be given support from the government in all needs same as the country's native citizen. Here also the players have got support and playing for those countries. I don't find anything wrong and degrading cricket.
The key word in your post is "after spending specific number of years". In cricket anyone will become eligible to play for a country if they reside there for 6 months. Most of the sports allow naturalized citizens to represent a country (some, like FIBA are exceptions). But in cricket, citizenship is not needed and there comes the problem. If you look at the UAE team, you can find that almost everyone has some first-class experience in India or Pakistan. They migrated to UAE after getting assurances about getting a central contract. These people can't be compared to someone like Usman Khawaja, who migrated to Australia when he was just five years old. @Sithara007 I don’t really blame those player’s because it’s probably very difficult to get into their country’s playing 11, and when they get an opportunity to show their talent they’re right in taking that opportunity. Lastly I understand you feel that country’s who have their own citizens participating should get more funding, but I feel that countries who outsource should also get some funds if not equal funds otherwise it’s quiet possible that we may never get to see those player’s talents. |

Third and last T20I match between India and South Africa will be played today, at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The news from Indian camp is that they are going to rest both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. And for India, this is the last T20 match before the world cup starts on 16th October. India is placed in Group1, along with South Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They will be looking for a better performance this time, after the debacle they had last time (they failed to advance to the knockout stage in 2021).
Virat Kohli is slowly getting back to his form and to avoid unwanted injury these two might've been given rest. Placed on the Group 1 and it is to play its first match against Pakistan after the warm-up matches against Australia and New Zealand. This time matches will be so close, because every team in the group is with some advantages over the other. Small mistakes will decide the result of the matches. After Asia Cup performance there were hopes Virat Kohli is going to be good in home matches against Australia and South Africa, but expectations are not fulfilled with this now again he is in limelight for his future in this format for me T20 World cup which is going to play in Australia after few days is going to be vital for his future because if he is able to perform better than surely he is going to stay in Indian team for all formats otherwise his days are numbered because fans are now thinking negative about him, and he needs to play without any pressure which is important for his career and teams fortune which is already having two setbacks with Jaspirat Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja and now if he fails then surely they could be in threat and this is not acceptable for fans at home. @lixer I won’t say that Virat has performed exceptionally well in the last few matches, but it seems that there’s a slight hope that he’s recovering his best form and his contribution will be very important for India in the World Cup. Furthermore am I alone who’s upset that DK is being chosen over Pant, because I felt that Pant can attack bowler’s much better than DK can especially if India needs to quickly score runs. |
