13301  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BETA] BPIP Extension - user info add-on / extension for Firefox, Chrome, et al on: November 03, 2020, 10:13:22 AM
a glitch
The glitch is also on BPIP: Profile has been Autobanned.
I guess the unban wasn't properly processed:

I'm just on a short break at work, this user has one of each: https://loyce.club/trust/2020-10-31_Sat_04.09h/162384.html but their trust feedback (even with ;dt ) isn't showing up.
Two days ago, he was on DT2:
   163. 162384: hedgy73 (Trust: +23 / =0 / -0) (72 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
But DT1 has changed, and eddie13 is no longer on DT1.
13303  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: November 02, 2020, 08:19:23 PM
If a user has an equal number of people who are DT1 trust them and distrust them (as was the case with Lauda just recently) shouldn't they then be DT2 (0) - (as was the case with Lauda) and their trust feedback (both positive and negative show up alongside other DT1/2 trust feedback (as was the case with Lauda)?
Yes. Unless some of the DT1's are excluded, in which case they can only vote for DT1 but can't vote for DT2.

dabbyfinance
Thanks, I've added it to my Find spam list. Earlier today I added AnonymousMask.Finance already, I wouldn't be surprised to see the DeFi spam/scam reach ICO levels.
13305  Economy / Reputation / Re: An obvious case of trust abuse (DT members welcome) on: November 02, 2020, 06:39:15 PM
Please no nonsense about negative and neutral feedback, we clarified that a long time ago.
Even though I've posted this months ago already, I'll give it one more try:
The system is for handling trade risk, not for flagging people for good/bad posts/personalities/ideas.
That's really all there is to it. You can choose to use the Trust system correctly, be included, and your feedback will actually matter. Or you can choose to use it any way you want, no Admin is going to delete your feedback, but don't expect anyone to take it seriously.
13306  Economy / Reputation / Re: nullius abusing his DT powers? Share your thoughts here. on: November 02, 2020, 05:49:07 PM
I made this: Is nullius still on DT? Smiley
13307  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT1 and DT2 members who have negative feedback (or are banned) on: November 02, 2020, 05:36:39 PM
Obviously the next enhancement would be to add the usernames of who's causing the orange numbers Grin
Sorry, I'll skip this one.

AFAIK Lauda is no longer in DT.
Correct. Lauda is at DT2 (-5).
13308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help me with the different sending fees option with electrum on: November 02, 2020, 12:24:11 PM
Can someone explain what I can choose to be save? I'm ready to pay up to 10$ as fee.
First: forget about USD, you're paying in Bitcoin.
I guess you have many small inputs. If you enable the Coins tab, you may find a larger input. You can select more than one by holding CTRL, then use your right mouse button to Spend these amounts. The less inputs you select, the lower your fees are going to be.
You can prepare for this by Consolidating small inputs when fees are low. Unfortunately, fees are currently quite high, so if you're in a hurry, this isn't going to help you.

In Electrum Preferences, you can tick "Edit fees manually". After this, you can set a much lower fee, but it may take a while to confirm. Depending on what you're trying to pay for that may or may not be a good idea.
I'm not familiar with the other fee options you mentioned, but I don't think that matters anyway. Fee per byte is what miners use to determine which transactions are most profitable to mine.

I think LoyceV should update trust viewer for this account:
vycl87's judgement is Trusted by:

sockpuppets
I can't, I have to wait for next Saturday's Trust data dump.

Yeah, obviously A-Bolt and WhiteManWhite are just victims .... I emphasized directly linked accounts
If someone got voted into DT1 by using sockpuppets, you should open a topic with evidence in Meta. When I did, theymos posted this:
After some investigation, this is a circle of 58 accounts, most of which have 10+ merit.
~
They're all now excluded from the DT selection process, so if the goal was to manipulate DT, someone blew ~580 sMerit in order to ultimately fail doing so.
13312  Other / Meta / Re: DefaultTrust changes on: November 01, 2020, 09:40:59 PM
Where is theymos looking? what does vycl87 do on this list?
He meets the requirements, that's all. Other DT1-members have excluded him, so he can't influence DT2.
13313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Nevous About Using the Core Wallet... on: November 01, 2020, 08:50:08 PM
An air-gapped Raspberry Pi running an Electrum wallet should do the trick for me.
Just to be sure: don't use the same seed that has been exposed to a hot wallet.

13315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Nevous About Using the Core Wallet... on: November 01, 2020, 07:29:12 PM
I had a Ledger Nano a few years back and almost lost a lot of Satoshis because it could not handle the "dust" (small regular deposits) from my mining rigs and would never stop syncing. I was finally able to recover my sats using Electrum with my passphrase
The proper way to do this is using Electrum together with your Ledger. You use Electrum in read-only mode, make the transactions in Electrum (big plus: coin control!), and use the Ledger to securely sign each transaction.
If you want this setup, you'll need a new seed phrase in your Ledger, because the current one should be considered compromised the moment you entered it in Electrum.

Quote
The question remains can I connect Electrum to my node without using one of the Electrum servers or will it just be a standalone wallet?
You can use Electrum without running your own node. I'm not sure what exactly you're asking. You can't just connect an Electrum client to a standard Bitcoin Core.
13316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Nevous About Using the Core Wallet... on: November 01, 2020, 06:09:16 PM
I have a lot of Sats and have used cold wallets but didn't like them so I put everything into a hot wallet (Coinomi) which is very easy to use with both my desktop and a mobile app and seed phrase recovery (which I like), but I do worry about long term security.
Let me be the first to tell you this is a TERRIBLE idea to replace cold wallets by a hot wallet! Long-term security shouldn't be your main concern, you should worry about short-term security first. I'm using Coinomi too, but only for small amounts.
If you don't like your current cold wallet setup, buy a hardware wallet (Ledger or Trezor). Switching to a hot wallet is indeed very convenient, until everything's gone all of a sudden.

I suppose I would need to save the .dat file to another computer in case my node fails or the computer running the node crashes.
Another computer wouldn't be my first choice. Several different offline media (microSD, USB-stick, burn a CD, .....) give you better odds. Test your backups, and make a new backup once in a while.

Quote
Do I need to protect the .dat file in the same way I would protect a seed phrase? Can someone with the file gain access to my coins? If my box crashes will I have to download the whole Core again in order to recover my wallet with the .dat file? The Core tutorials I look at are either too technical or don't cover things simply enough for newbs to understand.
You can set a password in Bitcoin Core. Don't lose it.
The wallet.dat is all you need to backup, the 300+ GB blockchain can always be downloaded again when needed.

Quote
2. I read articles on how to connect different wallets that use seed phrases to my node but they require me to run an Electrum server which thing is waaay beyond my technical abilities as it has no GUI. Is there a "Connect your wallet to Core for Dummies" guide anywhere?
You can use Electrum without running your own server.

I love supporting the network by running Core
By default, Bitcoin Core isn't uploading data to other nodes.

LN Roulette? I think is uses browser cookies, but I wouldn't rely on it.

do you recommend withdrawing all funds at the end of a session?
Yes, always Smiley

Which altcoin would you recommend for this trick?
Whatever you have lying around Wink My favourite small exchange is CoinPlaza.it (referral link in LoyceMobile's signature). My favourite small altcoin is Dogecoin, but any of the accepted altcoins will work. I think Ether would charge high fees, so that won't help.
If you have a small amount of anything on an exchange that doesn't support LN, you can get Doge there, and convert that into LN again. You'll pay a percentage in exchange fees, and transaction fees for Doge.
The high spread between buying and selling (1 satoshi is over 5% now) may not make Doge the best choice though.

No, and he's never had one either.

BPIP seems to think they do https://bpip.org/Profile?id=40565 but none is found on the link here: https://loyce.club/trust/2020-10-31_Sat_04.09h/40565.html
I'll take question this to [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action].
loyce.club/trust/latesttrustlist.txt is my complete list of latest Trust lists for each user, but BPIP doesn't use it (yet). Once I have a profile page for each user, it'll be easier to find them.
