Nothing says you can't be buying up cheap coins either...

Why don't the whiners get this?  Grin

(rhetorical question, I know the answer...)

Now willing to run own masternodes. Vultr here I come.

Anyone found a cheaper VM host?

Unfortuantely, 10.16 is not available from git...
https://github.com/darkcoin/darkcoin/tree/start-many

Start-many branch available with all commits is open to download.
Apparently, I have no idea how to navigate git... Lols. I still don't. Link == win.

512MB vultr $0.007 SSD plans can't build... RAM insufficient... build local, scp...

You can make some swap space, buy yeah if you have lots of MNs it's quicker to build it on your pet monsterbox, scp it to one of your MN's and then use that to push it to the rest, much quicker than uploading umpteen times on a domestic connection, unless you're very lucky in the local fibre department.

New Exploit?

I just noticed some strange things going on with this masternode address http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html?srch&nmstr=Xgyie615vTpBNmR2Nz7Z17GoAAcQLJfugm

He get paid very often with this "innmlist" under payee, that normally should belong to another adress I guess. He also "stole" a payment from me. He got 23! payments today only.

Hopefully flare's newfangled multi-Masternode wallet. There's 19000DRK been through that address today.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/address.dws?Xgyie615vTpBNmR2Nz7Z17GoAAcQLJfugm.htm

19 masternodes on one address. It works with the new start-many branch

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/drk/address.dws?Xgyie615vTpBNmR2Nz7Z17GoAAcQLJfugm.htm

Instructions please? Smiley
The way it was explained to me was that now instead of the wallet looking for the first 1000 dark in Address 0 it is now looking through all addresses in the wallet that contain a 1000 dark. For each address in the wallet with 1000 dark there needs to be a corresponding entry in the new masternode.conf file. This file should contain each wallet address and the genkey for each wallet. That way when the wallet gets started it compares all the 1000 dark addresses with the ones listed in masternode.conf. When you then give the masternode start-many command it will iterate through all those entry's starting them. This is of course only happening on the local side of the wallet. You still (correct me if I'm wrong) need to have one remote node for each local instance of  the wallet. Now knowing flare he's a crazy fuck so he just probably put all his coins on a single box and just ran that itself.

Yes, but how are masternode privkeys tied to masternodeaddr's in the .conf? Do we specify which MN when running masternode genkey, and if so, how?

We need an example .conf at least so we can copy it

I have another two MN's worth of DRK waiting and an (almost!) fully automated deployment gadget. Grin

edit: Actally, I suppose you mean just a regular wallet funded by the foundation, mixing when needed. It could work.

Cheap, simple, worth a shot... any mixing beats no mixing... and it might help encourage people to start using DS...

Forget about touching the Masternode's 1000DRK. Not going to happen, ever. Not going to happen to mine, ever, that's for damn sure.

More people just need to click the big Anonymise button, that's all.

Then it seems like the idea of Darksend day is about the only real thing we could do as a community to bolster pairings, however, that doesn't solve lack of pairs on the remainder of the days.

Dark Friday (or whatever) would be a good start - and it also might get more people into the habit generally. Smiley

Or a couple of scripted wallets managed by The Foundation, constantly anonymising.

If dark markets start accepting DRK then problem solved, people will have more reason to use DS. I'm a bit disappointed that Anonymisation isn't on by default, I think that would have mostly solved the problem too.

Well it takes fees and most consider compulsory taking of fees as stealing. On by default would have been off-putting to most people. That said, we do need to do SOMETHING.  Basically a Darksend adoption bootstrapping phase of some sort is required.  At this rate we will never get adoption if the main feature of the coin requires you to wait 4 days to see it work.

My suggestion is a "bounty" mixing fund that Evan (or the foundation) maintains and is filled ever so often by the community. That can then be split into several wallets and left mixing.

Totally agree and that sounds like an interesting extra fix, I would throw in for that. I am using Darksend on the main-net for the first time and its very frustrating waiting so long to be paired up... wait didn't someone get an extra 14k Dark recently, could put that to good use. : p

He can't use a wallet.  Roll Eyes

It would probably only cost a few DRK a month to have some Foundation mixing wallets going, we should ask The Founders what they think.

Onyx stats looking much better on https://drk.mn/blocks.html today, nearly 50% higher earnings for MNs on Onyx vs RC5, Hammerfall in sight!

1351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: October 20, 2014, 10:23:25 AM
or having a dedicated client that continuously loops 8 rounds with sending the fully anon balance to another newly generated wallet address in the wallet and starts the process over.

This is very easy to script, trouble is most people with a few thousand DRK have them in MNs. Plus constant anonymisation incurs charges.

The 1000DRK MN vin can't be used easily as if it gets anonymised, the MN would have no way of verifying it's existence or location any more.

You could create another service category - mixing seeders, that earned something from the block reward to constantly provide mixing partners for other Darksend users... it would have to pay enough to make up for the anonymisation costs, but that wouldn't have to be a lot, plus a bit of profit on top for the operators...? edit: you'd actually only need two of these running, not hundreds...
2 would defeat the purpose of why we have 3 inputs...

2 bot wallets would allow a 3rd human party to anonymise...

under Help > Debug Window and under the console tab of the pop up window, type in dumpprivkey [darkcoin address without brackets]

Private key for address [real address is here] is not known (code -4)

Wallet is locked, do 'walletpassphrase <passphrase> 60' to unlock it for 60 secs first.

I have no wallet. o.o Afraid of how people lose their money by loosing their wallets in their computers or back us are lost.

People lose their coins because they don't back it up.  I suggest the following at a minimum:

Download a wallet.
sync the wallet.
under Help > Debug Window and under the console tab of the pop up window, type in dumpprivkey [darkcoin address without brackets]

Print that key on to paper, put it on a jump drive and have it zip encrypted, make as many safe copies as you can keep track of.  This key can be imported into any wallet and the funds will show up.  importprivkey (private key)

Encrypt your wallet and don't forget the passphrase!  Perhaps write it down on that paper?  If someone steals the paper, they'll have to actually break into your house and find it.

Send your coins to that address (the one used in the dumpprivkey command above)

now back up your wallet, one of two ways.  In the wallet, go to File > Backup Wallet and choose a place to keep your wallet
OR close, quit, make sure it's not running in the background, the wallet, then go to your .darkcoin folder and take a copy of your wallet.dat file, rename it, and put it on a jump drive or 4 (in case one fails).  These may be stolen, but they'd have to know your pass phrase to open it.  Also, they'd have to break into your home to get it Smiley

If you learn to do this, you will have the best control of your coins and they should be retrievable any time (use the wallet.dat for easiest access).

I don't want to be rude but this seems complicated lol but Thank you

He's just going to park them on bittrex and wait for that to collapse too, in case he can double-up again.  Undecided

Frankly, I doubt DRK will ever be $400. I don't think it'll ever be $40. Or even $20. I'm even willing to say it'll never go up to $4 again. There just aren't enough people in the world smart enough to realize the need for what DRK does, and that all the other big talkers aren't developing a damn thing, just selling smoke an mirrors to cryptotard slavetrash.

I'll take the bet, if only because $400 isn't going to be worth a hell of a lot when the bond and stock markets finally go pop.

We should start measuring DRK against oil, gold, cake, ammo, hooker-minutes... something tangible, tasty or useful.

Right now 1DRK = 0.027 barrels, 0.08 grams, 1 slice, 2 12ga slug cartridges@Horrible UK slug prices, and a, "Fuck off, cheapskate."

Camosoul is having way too much influence on you young boys!  ROFL

Heh, camos path and mine probably included some similar scenery, long before those paths crossed. Armed and sentient, baby.  Grin

I don't know what to say, They sent me what I had twice lol? Even thought I told them I already got my Darkcoins from there they still sent me another 14k Darkcoins.

Dude, if you have that much coins, please help us to test Darksend on main-net. We are doing 400drk/4 rounds. Just need one person now.

lol - was just about to say the same to bagholder!  Grin

I'm sorry If I know how I would do it but I don't. I am very noob with computers.

Click the big rectangular button in your wallet that says Start Anonymising.

Hopefully you have it in a paper wallet then, because keeping it on an exchange would be a utterly daft...

edit: although you did just score a free 14000DRK in the Botpal Cataclysm Lottery.

After updating to onyx my MN on chaplins side is all few hours shown as inactive on SV1...SV6.
After masternode start on lokal wallet it is online again.
I happens now 4x. No payments. As i only have one MN i cant copare what others do.

If your masternode says it "successfully started masternode" when you type in masternode debug, then it's good.  Don't go by the masternode chart.  It is waffling between new and old versions as we're around the 50% point.  Actually the guys are reporting that it should show up correctly now as we're over 60% ATM.  But don't fuss with your setup.  I also haven't gotten paid in the last few days because until the miners update, only masternodes on the old version get paid.  I switch over right away because I want to support the coin, but it's really a great way to lose money...

I can sympathise with that...! 8DRK down and counting... It doesn't bother me at the moment as I'm 'doing the right thing', however, when DRK reaches $400 a coin...  Tongue Cry

Walter

Yah, that's why I hope it's not going to take 3 weeks to bring the hammer down.  Hopefully at 90%, Evan will hit the enforcement button?  Still, as more people move to Onyx, the money will be there and it'll be like the tipping point where everyone flows over to the right side, LOL.

Note that a 'not-detected' on poolhash.org doesn't mean you didn't get paid, it just means that El Presidente's Masternodes thought your MN was offline. I had one of those today, got paid fine. And an 'inmnlist' can go either way... Wink

Christmas has come early for admins of multiple Masternodes: run many MN's from a single wallet.dat and darkcoin.conf...
