1341  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will Litecoins be worth in a year or two? on: December 18, 2012, 09:42:49 AM
A major bonus of Litecoins is the fact that transactions confirm so much faster.  That alone will add to the value of them.

A common misconception, the number of confirmations on a transaction doesn't make it safer from a 51% attack, its time that does that.

4 LTC confirmations = same protection as 1 BTC confirmation.

Sure it get confirmations faster, but thats of no benefit at all.
1342  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What will Litecoins be worth in a year or two? on: December 18, 2012, 07:40:01 AM
I'm guessing around $0.00, maybe even into the negative.
1343  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: IDEA to buy stuff with bitcoins at street shops, and also bitcoins. on: December 18, 2012, 12:07:04 AM
http://bit-pay.com already does this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZ-pqo0cLcE

Difference here is they pay the USD/EUR equivalent into the merchants account at the end of the month (like the credit card processors). Merchant never needs to hold BTC.

And the map is here: http://www.bitcoinmap.com/

Well, I mean if there's videos of it, it must be legit.

I've seen a video of Will Smith running through the streets of New York with zombies chasing him, it must be some kind of government cover up.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480249/

I fo shizzle am not trollin by any means.

Then you're just extremely stupid. If its not in the blockchain, then its not valid.

I have been researching further whats up with those guys that can generate Bitcoins at the tip of a mouse button.

I really wish I could send you negative Bitcoins.
1345  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Seems to be Hacked! on: December 17, 2012, 08:38:36 PM
I don't need to even look at the video, anybody with any clue how the blockchain works would know this was fake.

Ask them for the block height of these 50BTC blocks they can somehow still generate (even though the reward is now 25BTC), or even ask them for the txid of the block reward payment.

http://blockchain.info

Notice how the blocks are all around 10 minutes apart, none that are seconds apart, and none are 50BTC anymore.

Yeah, best bet is to wire to an exchange.
1348  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: $1000-2000 PP for btc or VouchX on: December 14, 2012, 04:43:23 AM
here is the definite guide to easily and regularly buy bitcoin via paypal:

VirWox recently started verifying second life avatars due to fraud. You now have to make a Second Life account & hope that the LL Risk API doesn't prevent you from withdrawing, this usually means waiting 30 days unless you have an old Second Life account.

The easiest way to buy Bitcoins with PayPal is to withdraw to your Bank account and wire it to an exchange.
1349  Other / Off-topic / Re: Silver Bullet Silver Shield - 10% OFF on: December 14, 2012, 03:32:49 AM
Do they accept payment in BTC?
1350  Other / Off-topic / Re: What should I do for my 1000th post? on: December 14, 2012, 03:13:50 AM
Yup, by single username Phin has the most posts. I wonder how many posts Atlas has made through his various sockpuppets though.
1351  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: I hate blockchain.info on: December 13, 2012, 05:28:30 AM
Have you tried contacting them since?

Also, you should always keep backups of your wallet file.
1352  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Is this service needed? on: December 13, 2012, 03:29:26 AM
Its kind of pointless, seeing as we now have multi sig which can do this.

Bitcoin has won the right to operate as a bank

This made me lol. It was an exchange that won the right to operate as a bank. Its a pretty misleading article.

Consider checking the AUR for packages you're interested in.

OMG, BAHAHA! How did I miss that??? I had checked for it in AUR but apparently I didn't check hard enough, I feel so dumb right now.

Thanks dude.
1355  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Blockchain.info wallet SCAM - Stole $6 [PROOF] on: December 12, 2012, 04:37:26 AM
This issue is now solved

Blockchain.info have credited by account, and also email from zappay:

Don't you feel silly for making this thread now?  Grin

Electronics spying on us? Nah, I don't buy it.
1357  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS Sapphire HD 5830 (Non-Extreme) $60 on: December 12, 2012, 12:26:16 AM
I'm interested. Can you get a quote on what it would cost to ship to Ireland?
1358  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Dank Bank Deposits - dank soul guarantee - New music Nov 30th on: December 12, 2012, 12:23:37 AM
So, 9 days to go until Dank Fest. Have you found a location yet?
1359  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY 300 BTC] Make a bitcointalk forum plugin to allow tipping via BTC on: December 12, 2012, 12:04:21 AM
If this was made as an SMF plugin, it would need to be applied by Theymos, but, more importantly, BTCTalk would have to host the wallet file. It would also have a much nicer interface than if it was made into a bot.

If this was made a bot, what would happen is the bot would have its own account on the forums which it logs into, and users could send commands via pm (for balance checking, depositing, withdrawing) and also tip people by posting +bitcointip <username> <amount> in a thread, like how the reddit bot works. The bot & wallet could be hosted elsewhere & could work without specifically needing permission from Theymos (unless he bans the account of course). This is how reddit tip works.

Would you be prepared to host the bot?

I could make this easily enough either way, and could host the bot myself if need be, but just want to make sure we do this the right way.
1360  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY 300 BTC] Make a bitcointalk forum plugin to allow tipping via BTC on: December 11, 2012, 11:45:15 PM
Does it need to be a plugin?

Could a bot be used instead? (which is what is being used on reddit ATM IIRC). This would have the added advantage of not needing to be approved.
