1343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin mining with Antminer U1 on: January 05, 2014, 09:09:44 AM
Can I mine altcoins say DOGE, Megacoin, Digitalcoin, Litecoin, Quark etc with Antminer U1 sticks? What will be approximate BTC per day (stats) if I were to use day 5 sticks? (I will get around 8 Ghs.)

You can only mine SHA 256 based coins with Antminer U1.
I prefer Tigercoin (TGC) as the value and difficulty rate is pretty low and I foresee the price rising in the next few months.
I use the mining pool at coinex.
If you hash rate is around 5 Gh/s, you'll get around 200 TGC per day. So go figure.

1346  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Development on: January 05, 2014, 05:09:52 AM
there's no product prototyping?

all i see was a fpga unit hashing. I'm not an engineer, but with the experience of butterfly labs, they had FPGA miners out decently okay, but could not made ASICs worth any shit until their 3rd or 4th revision.

This is what their last message stated:

You may note that we had bettered hashing speed per core as compared to last time we published our results in our Prototyping Design Document.

As stated in the following video, our ASIC design POC has not been optimised for any specific FPGA, instead optimised for multi-core scalability with ASIC in mind. That's why it's important we show our core speed and number of cores we are targeting as per the final ASIC chip. Based on this design and global foundries process node, die sizes and the associated costs have been arrived at and we will be going ahead with the fabrication, post final back end verification.

Video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69P2RHG2pIA
....basically no guarantee on what's going to happen.

yeah, good, they can produce fpga, but ASIC is a whole different beast.

i'm calling they're gonna pull a BFL, failed the first two iterations.

The only thing guaranteed in life is death !

death and taxes.

1348  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-01-03] WSJ: Malaysia's Central Bank Warns of Bitcoin Risks on: January 05, 2014, 01:24:24 AM
I'm the founder of BitcoinMalaysia. At least our Central Bank did not outlaw Bitcoin like Thailand and demand for altcoins/mining hardware is still crazy.

That was just a rumour, the Thailand Central Bank didn't make that announcement. Someone reported it 2nd hand on a blog. Thailand Central Bank did not make any bitcoin or cryptocurrency before or after the rumour was started.

I know it was a rumour but a lot of news site reported it and added the word "ban". So newbies will be vary of using BTC in Thailand now.

Why is the Low and High price wrong?

It's the message that is wrong : is not High/Low, is "Price That Must Be High"/"Price that must be low", i will correct it.

Grab some Antminer hardware and start mining Tigercoins. They could skyrocket in price in the next few months.
1355  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: My experience with waldohoover from Coiningsolutions.com on: January 04, 2014, 12:34:26 AM
I agree. Communication is key.

However, just a warning to anybody considering to join the group buy. Waldo will absolutely not give anybody a refund. I tried backing out a few hours after sending a payment and he refused. He should've mentioned it in the original post but instead he fails to disclose it.

Also I've messaged him yesterday and he has still yet to respond. If there is a better way to keep in contact with you waldo, please let me know. The untimely responses make your group buyers extremely frustrated.

Fellow group buyers, let's keep in touch.

Communication is essential in any relationship and if it is lacking in any of the GBs, then please raise your concerns and bring your bitcoins elsewhere.
Digital Coin Mining is a high risk business and there are so many things to consider.
I've seen my fair share of scams and dodgy people in the past 1.5 years dealing in bitcoin business.
