Notabot, I can't find your post, it disappeared.

At any rate, good catch.  On one hand maybe its the same guy as 8 minutes apart is a bit fishy, especially for 3 names with similar opinions.

On the other hand, a lot of new people have joined lately, me included so maybe that's a coincidence.

Thing about luckybit, he's not flaming like this new owsley guy.  His arguments are well thought out and they make a lot of sense.  What he says may end up coming true - it's definitely at least a possibility.

I too think there has to be some change as the current model cannot thrive in its current form - its simply not sustainable as too many people are signing up too fast while the value is going the wrong way, so one would expect talent to really go south.

It's only a theory but it makes sense as this is what one would expect in real life.  I don't know the solution but I do agree we should have a healthy debate about it and perhaps we'll find a solution.

Because for sure many more coins are coming and devcoin only has a limited window of opportunity to grow and get its name out before a landslide of alt coins come over us all and bury devcoin in an avalanche of obscurity and mediocrity.

Regards,

Vlad

My brother died this past week, and we are starting a foundation. We want to do a few things.

1. Aware people that allergies are way more serious than they seem to be (packages need to be labeled like cigarettes, ex: "This product can kill you or your child if ingested", and possibly a big red "P" on any peanut product bag.

2. Do some charitable things in his name, such as clean highways, give scholarships, make baseballs (he was 11 and it was his favorite sport), make tributes (Mason Town, Songs, etc) and other nice things.

I would like to make donations possible in Devcoin, and I would like to get the support of the Devcoin community in starting this project. Not through donations (unless you have some extra DVC, a wallet will be created for this purpose over the next few weeks) but through sharing the word, and maybe posting on a thread when I make one later to this same effect.

Thank you for any support, I will post more information here.

I'm really sorry for your loss man.  I'm getting some coins for round 23 now so I too will pitch some coins in for your brother.  God bless you!

bullshit >> owsley beats ...even when i click on lost password it doesnt recognize me ! & u want people to take u seriously?
that was because like here there and elsewhere there's no space in the username you submitted 'owsleybeats', the one you opted for. But you're now correct it won't recognise your account because I have deactivated it. If you remain interested try me again another day when you can adjust your attitude here and in pm's. And no I'm not interested in your opinion.

SCAM BEWARE  ! YOU GUYS ARE A ====> J O K E !

You sir are a joke, you should get banned, there are different ways of asking to be part of a community, this is NOT an appropriate way to try and be part of the devtome community, they are definetly not scammers, i really hope that you NEVER become a devtome writer

Amin, brother.

I'm afraid the low value of devtome shares will unfortunately attracts lots of these people.  Sad.

Weisoq, I hope there's some protection for writers from guys like this.  I know I have access to everyone's articles, I can alter them in any way and with thousands of these articles who would find out?  This is a serious security issue.

Dude how old are you.

Devtome tries to attract all kinds of professionals.  Everyone is welcome but you behave like a child or an idiot.  Either way, a professional you are not.

Good luck - there's plenty of other coins and if this one is a scam why are you trying so hard to work for these scam coins.

NO I'M ASKING YOU WHO IS IN CHARGE OF DEVCOIN? >>> YOU?

No one is "in charge" of Devcoin, that only happens once there is a 51% takeover. But Unthinkingbit runs devtome and is the developer if I am not mistaken.

Fin, I actually think unthinkingbit is the guy in charge of devcoin.  I mean, it's his coin from what I understand so then he must be in charge.  This guy is just bitter over some personal matter regarding devtome.  The way he writes he probably either didn't get paid or he had his articles deleted.

Sorry, but grammar is somewhat important if you're gonna write.  Uhhh, I mean - going to.  Ha.

i've been writing for over 5 years ...DEVCOIN looks like a SCAM at this point

Obviously.

That's why just an hour ago you were begging for access to devtome so you can earn devcoins and only after you were denied you flipped your virtual lid.

EDIT:

Weisoq, I hope there's some protection for writers from guys like this.  I know I have access to everyone's articles, I can alter them in any way and with thousands of these articles who would find out?  With a quick cut and paste job one can render others articles pretty much into incomprehensible trash.

This is a serious security issue.

EDIT 2:

Thanks weisoq.  Let's end this whole mess.  I'm putting the guy on ignore now.

It's just that unless my word count is off I don't regularly go back to check my articles for sabotage.  It would be easy to alter many articles with few people picking up on it.  Thanks for the feedback.

But yeah, he does seem mad. I'm thinking maybe it is one of my trolls from somewhere else. I have stalkers from other forums that will comment on anything I post there, and I haven't been posting there for a while. With the loss of my brother and everything that followed.

Plus I was on here a lot even before that, so they probably miss me. They don't have anyone to stalk and talk shit to.

Lol.  Sorry about your bro man.

As far as being in charge.  I don't know a lot about digital coins but I'd say since the founder can choose to change the rules (ie. hard fork) and also the distribution model along with maintaining the coin or letting it die then he's pretty much in charge.  And who's to say unthinkigbit doesn't have a large majority stake.

I mean he works and earns coins as well and he could have easily accumulated additional large amounts of coins if he wanted to gain more control for relatively little money.
13487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: June 11, 2013, 10:34:54 PM
Yup, just as I thought.  He couldn't get into devtome cause he's incompetent.

Can you imagine this angry troll writing for devtome.

Looks like the record low devtome share value is starting to bring in the lowest form of trolls.  I hope this isn't going to be a trend.

WeisoQ, hope you have his IP address cause this guy is gonna try under a different ID and if you give him access he's gonna wreak havoc on all our work.

Finshaggy, this guy is obviously not really looking for answers.  Just some idiot from a competing coin or some sad troll who's not happy with the much lower current devcoin payouts.  Or perhaps he's so illiterate that unthinkingbit deleted his articles.

Either way, don't waste your time arguing with an obvious fool.

Also, let me know of you figure out how to mine BBQ, cause I wanna give it a shot too.  Thanks!

who laerndd youse how to spoke?...DEVCOIN seems like a scam someone please prove me wrong!

Dude, I gave you facts and you come back with childish remarks.

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have started out with calling you a name, I will edit that post.

However, I'm open minded, if devcoin is a scam I would like to know about it and make an objective decion.  But nothing you have posted proves anything of the sort.

And I gave you facts - such as devcoin is at least attempting a business plan.  Devcoin employed me at a time when even a guy like me with 2 BS degrees is having a hard time finding work.  None of this is being done by anybody, not even the all-mighty bitcoin.  And this is an incredible competitive advantage.

And cryptostocks are something I recently wrote about, a theory but it is definitely a possible thing and if devcoin pulls this off and starts to earn money it will be the first CryptoStock on earth.  Which simply means a currency / Stock hybrid, a currency which actually employs you or works for you and pays back dividends instead of laying dead in a bank account making the bankers rich.

This is a phenomenal new industry which is being missed by everyone but if I'm right there will be a massive explosion in the next 1-2 years in awareness and most of all in the investment community where stock investors and speculators will buy coins as they do stocks and seeing how devcoin is the only one with a business plan it should be at the top of the BUY list.

Please explain your evidence if you have any.  Thanks in advance.

Its not adding a file they are describing, they are describing what you would type to "double click" the file through the command window.

But you can't double click in the black cmd window.  Is that just a term used to say the command executes in the cmd window?

Cause I know how to pull it up and how to type in commands, but that's about it.  Thanks again.

I have 2 idle laptops and an older 2 CPU quad core xeon Dell server just sitting here all day.  I'd love to accumulate more devcoins if I could mine the other coins and just swap them out at vircurex.  I think a lot of people here could do this.

why DEVCOIN is about to be delisted lol

Your arguments are void of logic and facts.  Coins don't get delisted due to value.  It's either cause they're dead due to 51% attacks or because there's ZERO interest.

Doing a 51% attack on Devcoin would be very very difficult cause of the high difficulty rate and the high network rate.

And I currently do not see anyone losing interest in devcoin; on the contrary, I would argue devcoin is seeing an explosion in awareness on a global basis, currently at exponential growth which I think will turn logarithmic in 3-9 months.  No coin is showing such an enormous spike in interest.

While there are some issues to be resolved, the underlying fundamentals of devcoin are solid and given it's the only coin with some sort of business plan means Devcoin is the first truly CryptoStock, ahead of even Bitcoin, which, without a business plan, is nothing more than a pyramid scheme.

But I'm sure you already knew all this, after-all, I've only been doing this for roughly 60 days and it's plainly obvious to me.

DEVCOIN = SCAM BEWARE!!!
[/quote]

Nothing you posted says scam.  In fact, devcoin has survived longer than most coins and has the broadest appeal and most likely the broadest and largest base of ownership.  And the only coin with some sort of business plan.

So then, I feel compelled to ask:

Jealous much?

or WINKEY+R, CMD, ENTER. It will open a black dos box. Change to the directory that you unzipped your cpuminer (assuming you put it on C:\ in the example) like so:

C:\Users\FinShaggy> cd \cpuminer

Then run the program with your username and password like so:

C:\cpuminer> minerd.exe -o bqcpool.com:8080 -u finshaggy.1 -p x

And that's about all there is to it.

No I promise he lost me.

What is a command button?
And what is the "windows key"?

I'm lost too.  I know how to use the command window but I have no idea how to add something to files via this window.  I only know how to add files via the normal route - the directories.

So can somebody explain how to add a file.

How to use the command window because I really want to mine some other coins so I can buy more devcoins.  If everybody with an Idle CPU/GPU does this then it would help support the price of devcoin to a certain degree.  TIA!

Edit:  I'm so glad you're on here finshaggy.  I think you're the only one on here who may know just a bit less about computers than me.  It makes me feel a little more normal.  Then again, I think I'm the only one who lost 1 Million DVC in a cut and paste blunder.  And at the current low value of shares that amount all of a sudden hurts to have lost it.

I did run recuva and system mechanic pro but never recovered the necessary wallet.  Thanks to the guy who suggested that a week or 2 ago.

Really interesting.  Really good free press and exposure.

Check this one out.  Brilliant idea.  And check out their coin picture.  The background is my idea of using an IC chip to visually state it's a digital coin.  I love that.

We really need to keep up with these other coins and innovate.  But I don't know how its possible without money.  They must have backers or are putting in lots of money of their own.

http://www.coindesk.com/feathercoin-launches-ebay-style-auction-marketplace/

Also interesting:  Feathercoin almost near death due to a 51% DNS Attack.  This is happening.  It's legal highway robbery it seems.  No doubt this will be illegal in a year or 2.  Wish I had the gear for free loot.  Killing 2 birds with 1 stone - free coins and eliminating the competition.   Ha!

Fin, you're way better off mining a CPU style coin and exchanging it for DVC. Check out BBQ, MNC, or YAC, all pretty easy to mine with a CPU and you can convert them in to DVC at Cryptsy or VirCurEx or MCXNow.

I'm not kidding when I say mining SHA256 will kill your laptop while not earning you anything whatsoever.

Ok, cool. Then how do I mine... BBQ coin.

Ditto.  I've tried but can't find a good miner for windows 7 64. TIA

How do I mine Devcoins on a laptop?
Please help here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=230888.0

You need powerful GPUs.  I doubt you'll cover the cost of electricity with a laptop, but those who have actually mined them can clarify.  I haven't tried, after doing research I didn't bother.  But I do have ASICS on order and then it will be worth mining devcoins.

BTW:  that's one scary coin you put up.  Interesting, the same thing crossed my mind.  I wonder how many people think devcoin stands for devil coin?  Lol.
13498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Devcoin on: June 09, 2013, 05:15:10 PM
Here's a pretty good looking coin.  Just something to use as an idea for when we choose our coin.  I think the look will go a long way as new people choose their favorite coin given there's not a lot of business or fundamental analysis that goes into choosing which coin to buy.

Luckybit,

What is a hard fork?  What would happen to all my devcoins which I earned and bought - I haven't sold any of them.

Also, I totally agree. I made the 3rd world argument almost 2 weeks ago and I was treated like a racist.  It's common sense.  The current plan will chase away all developed world talent and that's where the best talent exists because that's where the money for education and the best schools exist.  And not to mention the best English speakers with few exceptions like parts or Africa.

At any rate this is a real dilemma.

But I would like to know what a hard fork is so I know what to do with all my devcoins.  TIA

Also, to clarify something else... ad CTR is usually based more on the advertiser themselves than anyone else. If two advertisers create their ads, they will have different CTR's, even when on the same content. There have been ads that run a 0.00% CTR because they flat out suck, and others than convert 10%+. When you bring revenue into this as part of determining how much each writer's "value" is, you're not only basing it on THEIR work, but also the advertisers', something the writer has absolutely no control over.

Man, this is going to be a real dilemma to solve as writers (and other types of contributors) will keep growing at a most likely exponential rate.  Round 22 had roughly 122 shares, round 23 had 501 shares and now we at around 1,000.

That's exponential so the question is will there be a slowdown now cause the value has gotten so low or can we expect roughly 2,000 shares for round 25?
