Actually the chart for Bitcoin looks a lot like the chart of Microsoft from the early 90's to mid 2000's. Microsoft had hit a high of $58 a share in the heady days of the dot com bubble and had come to more reasonable valuations and was trading range bound between $20 and $30 per share. Considering the amount of negativity that Cryptocurrencies have absorbed in 2018 I would say that rather than reflect the true value, markets are if anything oversold and that is why there is such resistance to any more downward pressure on prices. You might want to consider covering your short.

What actually surprises me is in fact the resilience of cryptocurrency markets. You have all the supposedly respected talking heads of the investment world like Jaime Dimon and Warren Buffet shitting on cryptocurrency at every opportunity and regulators like the SEC threatening to toss everyone involved in jail yet here we sit with all the major currencies putting up incredible resistance. Can you imagine what any stock or share would be trading at if subjected to this barrage of negativity? Cryptocurrency is being tested in ways that no other new asset class has ever been subjected too and it is coming through with flying colours.

The ICO ratings sites are completely worthless as tools for making investment decisions. On numerous occassions I have seen them giving high ratings to projects that were completely fraudulent and that even the most cursory due diligence would have uncovered. They simply reprint whatever information the ICO project gives them and do not do any fact checking at all.

The country I am currently in bans cryptocurrency payments for goods and services but is so incredibly incompetent and corrupt that it is easy to get around anything they do. All they have done is chase away investment that could have helped them grow the industry domestically.

I would reluctantly choose Bitcoin because it is a little less shitty than Ripple. Ripple is so highly centralised that it does not really qualify as a cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is also highly centralised with less than 1000 wallets holding over a third of the Bitcoin. This leaves it highly vulnerable to price manipulation and the fact that it has no use other than as a store of value based on scarcity and is highly inefficient for transactions means it is unlikely to maintain its dominant position over the long term.

Translation Bounties tend to fill up quickly so you need to get in there quickly before they give the translation job to someone else. The best way to find them is use the search function in this forum. Click search in the above Bar. It will take you to the search page. In Search for: put "bounty" Under options tick "Search in topic subjects only" Under Message Age put 0 to 1 days and untick search all and click "Choose a board to search in, or search all" and then select the second last choice in the right hand column "Bounties".

This will give you a list of all the bounties announced in the last day.

My reasons :

Alt Coins such as Ethereum have a utility beyond just a simple store of value based on scarcity. Bitcoin does not.

No, not at all. Celebrities only endorse things that they have a financial incentive to endorse. The same goes for many of the people that hold themselves out as ICO advisors. Many of them will endorse anything if you give them some free coins. You should always remember that everyone has their own agenda and their agenda may not benefit you.
