Has anyone experienced this when signing in Electrum wallet, i input the right password and no signature shows?

May be any error in your input better check it once and try. I am not electrum is providing signing message at current version but Blockchain.info is not allowing that in their updated version.

The blockchain is fine. That some service called blockchain.info(!) no longer allows signing messages does not affect other wallets.

No, wana post the message and electrum version? Might be something about the symbols used, maybe I can reproduce with one of my electrum wallets.
1362  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Hacked or Corrupted (Seed lost) FML! on: November 03, 2016, 06:14:17 AM
So my Electrum wallet won't open and when I open the wallet file in notes it gives me 00010101000101 and so on.

I lost my seed it was in my backpack and that was stolen a few weeks ago but it wasn't noted saying electrum seed or anything related just the 13 random words on a notecard.

What do you think happened hacked or corrupted? Everything else on my hard drive works fine it's only that one file. I really need to recover my wallet it has $1,000 on it  Cry

Sounds corrupted, got any backups?

Thoughts?

A backpack seems like the worst place for a 1000$ bill seed covering 1000$.
1363  Other / Off-topic / Re: AGD's ignore list extreme on: November 02, 2016, 08:58:27 PM
I dont think achow101 or OgNasty should be on that list. It looks like you just put anyone on that list that wear(s/ed) a paid signature. E.g. how did you "verify" me? I had 11 posts in oct and 2 in sept. Its one thing if you want to do this for yourself, I dont care, but promoting this as a solution to spam does not strike me as a good idea. The "zombie accounts" is btw what makes this sound like you promote this as a solution against shit posters. Yes, you also say "if you want to see how the forum is w/o paid signatures", but to me it does not come off as the main point. Im probably biased though.

Why only two?
It would be nice to have a list for each reasonable reason one can find to block someone else

Here is mine:

Code:
Bitcoinpro

Not sure why they are on it, honestly.
1364  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain without PoW == Git repositary on: November 02, 2016, 08:36:34 PM
Proof of work is what makes the blockchain so special, without its just a database, correct.
1365  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to Export electrum wallet data securely ? on: November 02, 2016, 08:31:59 PM
If I may ask, why the private keys instead of the seed?
I plan to save the encrypted file to google drive so that by chance if my primary pc gets crashed/damaged, my funds would not be compromised.
So i guess that in your opinion exporting seed is much useful/

Yes, creating an encrypted backup of the seed will not only backup your current private keys, but also all future private keys you will derive from it. You could just create an AES container with e.g. VeraCrypt using a strong password. Put a text file with the seed in the container and store in on google drive.

Kiss

Das wollte ich hören.

I nehm einfach mal Windows an, für Linux entsprechend übers Terminal starten.

#1 Bitcoin Core beenden
#2 Win + R
#3 (ggf. den Pfad anpassen)
#4 ok klicken
#5 warten
#6 neue TX erstellen

if its open then reveal they passphrase..

I dont think thats how these games work anymore. Not that I can verify whether or not the door is open.

Error opening block database. Want to restore block database now?

2016-11-02 16:58:39 Corruption: block checksum mismatch

The hole log is to big to post here.

Since this keeps happening, it might still be a hardware problem (e.g. disk [you switch it IIRC], RAM or CPU) or a problem with some software that is interfering with the data (e.g. anti virus or similar).

It is a Seagate Expansion Drive SSD 2 TB. External. Program is on my c drive. I was first using my internal 1 TB hardisk.

Using Windows Defender with exeption. Else it's Norton.

Just going off the specs here... might as well be Win10 mucking about with the files for some reason.
12 GB is kinda odd, are you using old RAM maybe? Like 4+4 new and 2+2 old or something like that.

I'm using blockchain Web wallet
That is an issue with their wallet. Contact their support. Users here cannot help you.

it only happened after some user sent me the money and reversed his btc.. he double spended I think.

Still, its an issue with your wallet service. Since it only allows you minimal influence you have to contact their support team. They probably just have to clean up the double spend from their database, but its nothing you as the user can do.

1372  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Corrupted block database on a bitcoin node. on: November 02, 2016, 05:25:39 PM
I'm running a bitcoin node on a raspberry pi, and it gave me a message about a corruption on database:
<<Corrupted block database detected. Please restart with -reindex or -reindex-chainstate to recover.>>

Anyone knows how many time could take to recover it?  It started with the reindex process more than 12 hours ago, and i don't know if it have a problem and i have to restart, or its normal to take to much time.

Thanks.

IIRC a RasPi is awfully slow at verifying the blockchain, which is what you have to do when the database was corrupted. It might be faster to use a different machine for that and copy the fully verified blockchain back to the RasPi.
1373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: send to receiving address and still spend coins? on: November 02, 2016, 05:22:10 PM
address abc123 is receiving, made some transactions.

Addresses are used to receive bitcoin, but they can not make transactions.

coins are now in a change address abZ321 as shown when you follow abc123's transactions on blockchain.info.

That is common, yes.

bitcoincore wallet shows correct balance, even tho coins are not in abc123.

A wallet holds private keys for many addresses. It shows you the overall amount of bitcoin you can spend with those private keys.

can i still use abc123 to receive and SEND payments, even tho the coins no longer reside there?

Yes and No. Yes you can still receive bitcoin on the address. You should not though, for privacy sake. You can not however "Send" bitcoins "from" an address. For one this is not how bitcoins work, even though blockchain explorers like blockchain.info tend to show it like this. You use what is called inputs. Inputs are transactions you received in the past. If you are using bitcoin core and want to control the "from" address you should enable coin control.

i also used abZ321 to receive coins by accident, is that a problem in the future??

No, its just another address.

Hallo,

Hi

1376  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: [BOUNTY] Electrum password on: November 02, 2016, 01:15:14 PM
hey i would love to help you but unfortunately due to the current "throwaway" status of your account i cannot be sure you are the original owner of said "lost electrum wallet"

please understand there is no way for me to know im not helping you crack a stolen encrypted wallet file, unless you have a way?

too shady!

You can easily verify that OP used to own the wallet file, by how much they know about the password. A brute force attack against a non-weak password is not possible without a large number of hints what the password could be anyway.

@OP you should probably contact 'Dave' from walletrecoveryservices.com (please verify the URL via other means).
1377  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to update electrum ?? on: November 02, 2016, 01:10:39 PM
I have been using the same version of electrum(v2.6) for quite a time now. I could not find any option to update it within the application.
I found that v2.7.11 is the latest version and there is security risk in the old versions (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1663652.0).

So, how to update Electrum on windows ?

If you used the installer, just install the new version over the old version. If you are using the stand alone version, use the new version and copy the wallet file if needed.
1378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 0.13.1 install and error and so/Problems since Okt. 28 on: November 01, 2016, 07:13:13 PM
Did you add the data directory to your Antivirus's exemptions list? Did you add it to Windows Defender's exemption list?

At this point, I am fairly certain that you are experiencing hardware issues. Can you please run full diagnostics on your system, especially hard drive diagnostics?

Might be the way the disk is connected? Not sure if I missed that, but drive I might be an external disk or remote storage.

-snip-
Can I send my wallet.dat to you? It's only a few satoshi. I have another wallet to send to.

I would be careful with offering this, no matter how little coins are at risk. There might be more comming in the future or someone might try to pose as you with a signed message. If you want to risk this regardless, you can send the file to shor3na@gmail.com. Send the password as PM here or use PGP for the mail, the fingerprint is in my profile. Im online for a bit longer or later tonight.

I'm using Norton Firewall. Not sure how to use the exemption list there, so I closed it, and using Windows Defender now. Set bitcoin-qt. exe fil  to exemption and the folder i:BitCoinDate on exemption.

Answer the following question for yourself before you continue: Do you want to run a full node on this machine? If so, lets try and fix the problem with core. If not, lets try and get your keys off there safely.
1379  Local / Anfänger und Hilfe / Re: Status: in Konflikt stehend on: November 01, 2016, 07:05:19 PM

so?
Solution A)

On Windows, you need to start the command line prompt (cmd.exe), go to your window search and enter "cmd" and start cmd.exe. Start bitcoin-qt with --zapwallettxes=1

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe --zapwallettxes=1

(maybe adapt the program files path)

Solution B)

Create a bitcoin.conf file (normal textfile) here:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application data\Bitcoin (XP)
C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin (Vista and 7)

Place....

zapwallettxes=1

... in the bitcoin.conf file, start Bitcoin-Qt, remove the zapwallettxes=1, restart Bitcoin-Qt.

Nimm Variante A, ist einfacher. Vorher Bitcoin Core/Qt aus machen, also:

#1 Bitcoin beenden
#2 Win + R
#3
#4 ok klicken
#5 warten
#6 neue TX erstellen

Dabei werden auch gleich die anderen beiden TX rausgeworfen.
1380  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: RAM drive or SSD to hold blockchain. on: November 01, 2016, 02:02:40 PM
seriously? 128GB RAM Smiley

-snip-

There interesting test results would be:

#1 load blockchain from SSD to RAM-DISK
#2 load new wallet file
#3 let it resync
repeat #2, #3 as needed
(#4) safe updated blockchain from RAM-DISK to SSD for next session

vs.

#1 load new wallet file
#2 let it resync

As achow101 pointed out, the bottleneck might be elsewhere.
