1361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any way to buy WASSIE or BOB without the gas fees? on: May 06, 2023, 04:25:24 AM
Basically unless it’s listed somewhere like a CEX or unless it’s also on another chain like BNB or ARB then you are basically forced to pay that fee.

Earlier today if you wanted PEPE with Uniswap you were paying almost $100 just for the transaction fee. Basically Defi is not good for small purchases and especially on the ETH main net.
1362  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A nob in trading needs help on: May 06, 2023, 04:23:08 AM
You can’t make any passive income when it comes to trading. Only way is perhaps buying a stock which pays a dividend but there is the issue of the stock itself going down in value and losing money.

But with crypto trading there is no dividend. If you hold certain coins like ETH you can stake those and earn a little yield but once again, the value of ETH can go down and you might lose money. There is risk in everything.
1363  Economy / Economics / Re: So is SBF the reason for the possible upcoming global finance crash? on: May 06, 2023, 04:18:08 AM
Yes I know the real reason was interest rates but what made Silicon Valley bank fail shortly after the FTX collapse? Basically there was a massive bank run on Silvergate. We did not know they had to sell their bonds to make withdraws until their earnings came out. Their earnings came out in middle of January.

Then a month and a half later is when Silicon Valley collapse. Most likely many depositors decided it was too risky because they had tons of these HTM bonds and got out and let everybody else know to get their funds out also. Hence the bank run. Maybe it was all a coincidence.
1364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Metamask is stuck on "Connecting to Ethereum Mainnet" on: May 05, 2023, 05:22:31 PM
Anyone know how to fix this?

I don't have any ETH on this wallet but I got other balances on other chains like Polygon, Arbitium and ZkSync Era. My ETH wallet is empty. I need it to connect because I got an ZkSync Lite transaction I want to confirm, I need it to connect to the ETH chain to be able to approve the transaction.

Its just stuck on "Connecting to Ethereum Mainnet" and times out after 30 seconds. It connects instantly to the other chains no problem. I searched Google and seems I am the only one with this issue.
1365  Economy / Economics / Re: Looking for online investment method for 50$ daily on: May 05, 2023, 04:18:14 AM
This thread reminds me of a buddy of mine who heard I was in crypto. He was like “If I give you $1000, can you turn it into $10000 real quick, I got some bills to pay off”.

Basically thinking that it’s that easy to 10x without any risk. Hence why we got so many people investing in crypto because they want to get rich overnight but it doesn’t work like that.
1366  Economy / Economics / Re: Western Alliance shares on: May 05, 2023, 04:16:08 AM
I think it’s too late. Because most likely many shareholders won’t want to hold the stock because they have the most to lose if it gets seized.

So many banks went bust that people are scared and they won’t want to risk anything and will either send their money to a money market fund or send it to a large bank like JPM.

Shareholders have no benefit really. The deposits will get bailed out but shareholders won’t. So why risk holding the stock. JPM will buy it for pennies and they will get wiped out.
1367  Economy / Economics / Re: Shrinkflation on: May 05, 2023, 04:13:25 AM
Yeah I noticed this also. Basically when you go shopping you will notice two things

1) Products which cost 50% more

2) Products which cost 10-20% more but less quantity

Basically the bag is the same size except the label has indicated there is less contents inside. Very common with potato chips and cereal boxes.
1368  Economy / Economics / So is SBF the reason for the possible upcoming global finance crash? on: May 05, 2023, 04:10:55 AM
So it seems every month there is some bank which collapses. And we might get another regional bank or two which is about to get seized this weekend. It leads me to think we will get a credit crunch again and another recession.

Now I am wondering what was the cause of this? Was it SBF? Obviously SBF is not to blame the bad management at these regionals however the way I see how it happened was…

SBF causes massive panic in the crypto world.
Leads to bank run on Silvergate which shows the Hold-to-Maturity losses
Some customers get worried of their deposits at other banks such as Silicon Valley and do a bank run.
Later Signature, Credit Suisse, First Republic experience more bank runs.
Now it’s WAL and PACW

So did this originate from SBF? Can he bad the actual cause of a huge financial collapse?
1369  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with low spec computer? on: May 05, 2023, 04:04:34 AM
Hello, i am new to the Cryptocurrency sceen and i am wondering what cryptocurrency requires the least amount of computing power to mine.

You don’t need a powerful computer to mine. You can mine anything but the speed will be slow and you will barely make anything.

Right now mining is very unprofitable. Even with a high end CPU you barely make anything, same with an expensive Nvidia GPU.

When ETH went POS a few months back the profitability just tanked on everything related to GPU mining.
1370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Robert Kennedy Jr on the subjecdt of bitcoin, mining etc.. on: May 04, 2023, 04:08:56 AM
So how do we know he actually is pro Bitcoin and not trying to just buy votes. His campaign team might of came up with this idea since the current and former president wasn’t pro crypto.

They figured there are a few million people into crypto, Trump obviously was never a fan. I don’t count his NFT collection as being pro crypto. So most likely he will buy himself a few million votes this way.

After he is elected, his stance can completely change.
1371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you think Blur will overtake Opensea on: May 04, 2023, 04:05:21 AM
I forgot making this thread back in February. Basically Blur is not doing too well. I am slightly underwater with my investment but will see what the future brings. The dev team is fairly active at least.

But the token peaked during the airdrop pretty much. I wouldn’t be surprised if we reached a new low. They had some new features released a few days ago and not much in terms of bullish movements. So most likely this will be a long term hold.
1372  Economy / Economics / Re: Looking for online investment method for 50$ daily on: May 04, 2023, 03:58:29 AM
you will easily get 50$ every day, if you invest 1 billion$.
if you have it you will easily earn 50$ some maybe more than that.

He doesn’t need a billion to only make $50 a day. Honestly with enough money you can make that with TBills pretty much which is almost risk free, well as long as the US doesn’t default.

With trading it’s difficult to make consistent gains. If you try and make a daily profit everyday you will set yourself up for failure and lose it all. Basically just take opportunities when you see them, don’t try and force any trades which you shouldn’t be taking.
1373  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for May on: May 04, 2023, 03:55:20 AM
It seems that whenever some bank collapses Bitcoin seems to rally. Right after the fed meeting, the shares for PACW tanked like 60%. So most likely we will have another collapsed bank this weekend. There were others such as WAL which also tanked.

So there is a good chance we might get half a dozen banks which collapse and Bitcoin will definitely rally due to this news since banks obviously aren’t safe to keep your funds. Will be an interesting month.
1374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Highest Record Bitcoin Transactions, What does this indicate? on: May 02, 2023, 04:34:47 AM
Yes the above poster is correct. This is called BRC20 with Ordinals. And I noticed this a while back when I couldn’t get a 10 sat per byte transaction to confirm anymore.

Seems to be getting more and more expensive to make Bitcoin transactions. Today you would need to use 50-60 sat to get a confirmation within the hour. Almost as much as an ETH transaction pretty much.
1375  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you had a time traveling machine, then? on: May 02, 2023, 04:30:23 AM
You need to realize that if it wasn’t for those selling Bitcoin at such a low price then Bitcoin might of not had the same success as it did.

Looking back the Pizza was a bad deal however it wasn’t the point. It basically proved that Bitcoin has a purpose and can be used to pay for transactions. And after that it become more and more popular. And shortly after it was used to trade goods and services.

1376  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Staking really great way in crypto wealth on: May 02, 2023, 04:23:58 AM
Staking and earning yield has a bad reputation due to what happened with all those lending platforms that went bust. People basically didn’t want to take risk, so they lent their crypto to earn a yield and look what happened.

So sure it’s great however there are way too many underlying issues, especially when it can get stolen. Even those liquidity provider on Defi is risky due to IL or due to some bug which drains all the funds.
1377  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: WHERE DOES THE PROFITS FROM? on: May 02, 2023, 04:20:30 AM
The way trading works, assuming no fees and spread it’s basically zero sum. For one to make money, someone else needs to lose it.

Doesn’t matter if it’s crypto trading or long term investing in stocks. There will always be one person to lose it all. Considered FRC. Someone bought it at the IPO and the same stock was sold along the way, everyone made money except the last buyer who lost it all.

This is how trading works.
1378  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the current economic waiting now its Money printimg on: May 01, 2023, 10:14:48 PM
FRC crashing had more to due with low quality commercial real estate loans. That BTFP was mostly for MBS and Treasuries. The bank that had a huge unrealized loss was Silicon Valley bank on treasuries. FRC would of been fine if they had tons of Treasuries but they had lots of loans that nobody would buy.

So now the BTFP wouldn’t really create money printing but if the fed expands the program to include commercial loans and other loans such as auto loans then we got a problem. The banks will be saved but the feds balance sheet will skyrocket.
1379  Economy / Economics / Re: I had a raspberry, I sell it to my child, how much money do I made? on: May 01, 2023, 10:11:10 PM
Basically the point of this thread is that the Raspberry is basically representing the banks and how they handle money.

Even though he didn’t actually make any money, he inflated the price of the raspberry. And this is more or less how all these banks work. One bank owes to another bank, that bank owes to another bank, and the latter and former bank lend to each other.

It’s either this or this is some riddle that I don’t understand.
1380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rig/mining farm for 8 video cards p104-100 evga at the price of 1 GPU on: May 01, 2023, 10:06:42 PM
Yeah not surprised. They really should of liquidated those GPUs during the POW days. The issue with those GPUs in particular is that they aren’t oriented for gaming. They got 1 output if I recall. So most likely no gamer will buy them.

Add in bad profitability and hence the price. The seller probably assumed ETHW or ETC would gain more market cap and it would remain profitable however months have gone by and not much has changed.
