13641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We're al getting it wrong on: January 27, 2018, 10:10:05 PM
That's a very interesting point. Did you try to figure out which could be the percentage of the Bitcoins which get traded versus the total supply?

To do it one would have to compare statistics from all exchanges around the world, or at least all of the biggest ones in every country.
If we take a single exchange like bitfinex and compare some of the recent pump and dump schemes  we'll at least have a confirmation of what's going on.
January 22 (dump) 6200 btc in 2 h
January 23 (pump) 5900 btc in 2 h
January 26 (dump) 7200 btc in 2.5 h And on the same day there was a quick rebound during which almost 6000 coins were bought back in a little over an hour.

I believe the ones buying back are the same people that were selling during the dump, there's no significant price movement because there's no fresh coins or money coming to the exchanges. It's always the same people playing around with newcomers bringing less than 10% of the capital to the table.

This has been done over and over again. I am surprised people are only starting to realize it now. Whales play this game called "fear". They sell their coins when bitcoin price have reached a certain upside causing panic in the so called "small miners" or "home miners" making them to sell their bitcoin and not holding them. The same whales buy back at the dip and make big profits within a few time later. This scheme is going on since the foundation of Mt.Gox. Spend your bitcoin when you need to and keep as you need to but without forgetting the power of bitcoin value for a future profit.
13642  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You can actually buy a lot of things with Bitcoin on: January 27, 2018, 09:45:15 PM
Valve which offers Steam as their platform to buy games for PC used to accept Bitcoin but due to high fees they removed this option. While you can buy many things with bitcoin you cannot buy PC games anymore with it and that is a minus. There is a whole big international market of gamers which Valve wants to stay out of bitcoin. If bitcoin remains as a payment there even people who don't know bitcoin would see this option when buying games and they would be at least curious to read what it is. This is like closing a door to a wider youthful audience for bitcoin.
13643  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Can we identify relationship between bitcoin address .? on: January 27, 2018, 09:21:56 PM
Here my question is simple but small complicated .

Suppose I have my account for btc segwit wallet at electrum .
As 10+ adress available there to use ( in addresses bar ) without doing anything .

Can we find out with single adress that how many addresses are attached with that electrum account to which the first one is belong .
I meant connection between bech addresses
( start from bc1***** ) of same account to find is possible ( no transaction made between address)

They can be linked. For example when in Electrum you start using different addresses for different services , exchanges or websites and you start receiving different amount of bitcoin in each of these addresses , when you try to spend all your existing amount by typing ! in the amount tab in electrum all of the addresses in which you have bitcoin will send each the bitcoin part they hold. When such thing happens , websites like walletexplorer can easily link all these addresses are from the same wallet and can have a view of all your bitcoin addresses you have in this wallet.
13644  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hardware wallet on: January 27, 2018, 09:02:05 PM
I have only dipped in to Bitcoin and a few other cryptocurrencies but I want to invest a little bit more and I am in one mind to use software wallets but another mind to invest in a hardware wallet? Currently, I don't know whether I see a point if the hardware wallet almost matches the value of the coins I hold?

Brad

It depends as how valuable your coins are to you. If you are serious about investing in cryptocurrencies then getting a hardware wallet can be  a critical thing needed in order to succeed. While they cost some money they are worth it as they offer the best in class protection for your coins. The most widely known wallets are Ledger Nano S and Trezor. Keep in mind to never buy from anyone else than from official creators.

Ledger website: ledgerwallet.com
Trezor website : trezor.io

Electrum which is a software wallet is as good as hardware wallets if you , the user know what you are doing and have experience in bitcoin ecosystem. Electrum is free to use.

Electrum website: electrum.org
13645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VISA rages WAR against Bitcoin! BANNED on: January 26, 2018, 07:51:39 PM
I don't care much about VISA or other credit cards as they are not suit to be used with bitcoin, I only use bank accounts to exchange my bitcoin to FIAT or from FIAT to bitcoin. The problem that worries me is if this rage war will go to pass to payment processors who have the option to upload funds from bitcoin like Skrill. If Skrill bans uploading funds with bitcoin then I have to exchange through third party exchanges like Coinbase losing a lot in the exchange from bitcoin to FIAT.

And like me there are a lot of bitcoin users.
13646  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Ebay full of scammers or ? on: January 26, 2018, 05:20:41 PM
Thank you I was doubtful but the adrenaline to buy 6 GTX 1060 for 700 dollars just got into me. I always ask in the forum before I take any decision as here you find answers for almost everything which is tech related. I thought so that it was some Chinese scam but what made me think was how can they fit it in an original ASUS Strix box without removing seal of quality.

I didn't even thought that someone can modify the Bios of some Chinese cards to make them look like a 1060 in GPU-Z. I knew the Chinese were scamming in lower versions of Nvidia , with 960 topping the list but never thought things to have gone such far. It appears our world is going from bad to worse with all kind of shit happening even in one of the most trusted marketplaces of the world.
13647  Economy / Service Discussion / Ebay full of scammers or ? on: January 26, 2018, 04:56:53 PM
It has been about 3-4 months I am mining with my computer. I have seen these cards so cheap in Ebay that I want to buy bulks of them to build a cheap mining computer. I suspect the seller is a scammer although with very positive feedback or that the card in the link is a Chinese copy.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Graphics-Card-Asus-GeForce-GTX-1060-ROG-Strix-Edition-Gaming-6-GB-VR-nVIDIA-PC/173122596854?hash=item284ee92ff6:g:Qd4AAOSwu6taa1Yp

I am waiting expert replies before I lose money into this.
13648  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Payment stuck on pending since 12/16/17? on: January 26, 2018, 03:13:26 PM
Hi, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  I transferred some btc from Coinbase to my electrum wallet in December and it still shows as pending in the receive tab.  It's not a huge amount of money but I would like to have it.  Thanks!

Show the transaction id here and ask some people to help you out to accelerate it by using a transaction accelerator. DO not give tips or accept that people who want tips to accelerate it because there are some free services which can be used to accelerate the transaction.

13649  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum dont RUN on windows 7 on: January 26, 2018, 08:41:05 AM
Choose what it suits you most.

The Standard option will create a Legacy wallet usually with an address starting with 1. This is the normal bitcoin wallet which was used since the beginning of Electrum. Fees are higher though.

The Segwit option will create a Segwit wallet where addresses starts differently but this option make transactions with low fees. I haven't tried it myself as I am only using Standard. Someone else can add to this reply and explain you in detail what Segwit does except lower fees.
13650  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Topic considering the cloud mining services on: January 25, 2018, 10:07:04 PM
Every day I see, more and more, post about cloud mining services. So as someone who invested in various cloud mining services back in the day, and still checking out some here and there, I wanted to write a post about that.

As we all know, huge amount of investments is needed for bitcoin mining and with mining difficulty going up, that power is needed to be upgraded or simply discontinued because of the lack of profit.

Now I'll be speaking from my point of view and my experiences with it. I've invested first time, in cloudmining, in CEX.IO service and actually little by little got a ROI after a few months (was also trading Gh/s but they've stopped selling gh/s now due to unprofitability) also I've made ROI with some russian cloud mining service as well (think it's closed down now) and I've barely invested 20-30$ to start with at both.

Today, most are scams simply because bitcoin cloud mining isn't viable because of fees and rising difficulty and hence the whole concept gained bad reputation, even tho there may be some legit ones besides genesis.

I've stopped investing in cloud mining today but still like to check out new services that come out and see what are they offering and how realistic it is. So here's how I throw away some services as scams, that's if they're:

   - offering huge ROI for a small investment
   - website that has nothing but a dashboard and buying power pages (poorly made)
   - is solely mining bitcoin, none of the alt-coins (huge red flag for me)
   - offers lifetime contracts (can depend)
   - their FAQ is only about how much are they charging and how to deposit (nothing about who/where they are or equipment they're using)
   - everything about their business is 100% good, working and just merry.

That's why I tend to trust businesses more that actually discontinue the selling of mining power due to it not being profitable (cex.io) and actually putting a disclaimer about investing that it might not be profitable and should not be considered as a primary source of income (EoBot).

Again, this is not me telling you to go and invest in cloud mining and vice versa, just saying that there still may be some legit ones that are actually focusing on various profitable alt-coins rather than just bitcoin. Do you own research before investing and DO NOT invest more than you can cover.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

Unfortunately the cloud mining business cannot be considered a good business/service to invest in. Those Russians sites in which you did make ROI are usually scams, life expectancy of these sites has been 3-6 months. Right now legit companies offering cloud mining is only Hashnest , Genesis Mining and Hashflare cannot be considered legit due to an insane amount of complaints against them.

Even with Hashnest making ROI is almost impossible as they charge high maintenance fee daily for a GHS. My conclusion is that whatever money you invest for whatever reason into these services , chances are you will never see them again in most of the cases. Hashnest is legit and better compared to Genesis and Hashflare as you can play in the market and can sell your GHS at any given time, minimizing your loss in the worst case and making some small profit from trading in best case.
13651  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Time to move from Electrum on: January 25, 2018, 09:03:01 AM
The person behind Electrum is ThomasV which is doing a great work to keep Electrum as safe and secure as possible. As you can read in their website Electrum is run only on donations so you should respect ThomasV work. Electrum is as safe as a hardware wallet when used properly which means to be installed in newly formatted computer. Bugs happen to any software and as ThomasV is only human without supernatural powers he can make errors too. He fixed it in just 2 days and that is a record time.

Of course everyone is free to move from Electrum but so far there is not any other wallet which is free and more secure than Electrum. Since you are worried, a hardware wallet maybe a good option for you if you have made your decision to move away from Electrum.
13652  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain technology or pure speculation? on: January 25, 2018, 07:34:45 AM
Blockchain technology is a revolution in our century. Even if the price of bitcoin plummets down to the very bottom I would still be interested to use it. Real life scenarios where you can use bitcoin without showing your identity are a lot. In this age that we are living full of technology safeguarding your identity is top priority as if not safeguarded as you should hackers can get it and use it for evil purposes. Whenever you enter your email in every website you register for a service there is a high risk your email is immediately send to spammers who have paid for collecting email addresses. Blockchain technology and bitcoin does this, give you a upper hand in safeguarding your identity while transacting with bitcoin and cryptos that are based on blockchain technology.

Calling it a speculation looks dumb to me after this technology has been proving itself during these last 8-9 years.

Bullshit every coin and every wallet it hits is known. It's not anonymous.

Go exit to fiat see how much Id u need.

BULLSHIT LIES

Stop talking bullshit without knowing a dip shit about bitcoin and the technology it relies on. Every address is known but you cannot find it to which person it belongs as easy as you can find when you use your details when registering in some websites which offer different services. Sure you can fake details to free services but when you need to buy something you have to put your credit card into it or other identification documents. Best example are exchanges and payment processors like SKRILL where you cannot lift your limits if you are not identified.

On a bitcoin address you can use different tools and services to mix the coin until you forward it to a new address. This way bitcoin become from pseudo-anonymous to anonymous.

Hello all,

I tried to send about .0066 BTC from electrum to another one of my wallets with a really low fee (around .0001) but unfortunately, the transaction has been stuck at 'unconfirmed' for the last three days. When I right click the transaction and click 'view on block explorer', nothing shows up. I understand that the transaction probably won't go through due to the low fee, but I thought the amount I sent would at least be returned to my wallet in 2-3 days?

The transaction ID is : 7c0ef4cb898b2131a0d0731ef82e0849de4469ed7b933db7760a90be61e3dc77

If anyone could help me out or at least let me know what is going on, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Your transaction is stuck because of low fee, this need to be accelerated. I usually do this things for a small fee or donation but I like to help you here for free. Is your lucky day  Tongue Grin

tx will be done in 1-3h

Don't listen to this guy. Unless he shows us proof that he is not using a free accelerator service do not send him a single dime. He don't deserve it and he got a well deserved red trust for trying to cheat on our forum.

You can accelerate it yourself with a paid service like the one in the link below. They only ask 5 dollars for confirming it within 72 hours and I would pay these 5 dollars in order to confirm a transaction of 0.0066 bitcoin which is 72 dollars at the moment.

The persons here run Slushpool, a well known mining pool.
13655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia on: January 23, 2018, 07:25:29 PM
What do you think about that nVidia wants to limit gpu sales to miners? Why are they moving on?

Because the gamers are getting pissed off at miners hoarding all the graphic card for themselves. Nvidia created these GPU's for gaming, not to mine shitcoins, so they are getting tired of it and will now demand that you are not a miner.

I find it kinda sad that they want to control this tho, anyone should be able to buy their product for any reason, but it seems it's having an impact on their business model.

Quote
"For Nvidia gamers come first," Nvidia spokesman Boris Böhles told German hardware website ComputerBase last week. "All of our activities around our GeForce-products are directed towards our main target group. To ensure GeForce-Gamers continuously have access to GeForce-graphic cards even in the current situation, we recommend our trading partners to take according measures to ensure they can provide the needs of gamers per usual."

I think they should start a 100% mining dedicated solution and they would make a lot of sales and leave common GPU's for gaming.

They already have started a 100% mining dedicated solution. There is the cheaper version the Nvidia GP106 which is based on Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB version and the more expensive version the Nvidia GP104 which is some sort of near GTX 1080 and is excellent for mining. This latest card have come out only lately.
13656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 'I know you cheated on your wife.' Growing blackmail scam demands payment in BTC on: January 22, 2018, 08:07:03 PM
From what i see, people shouldn't fall for this expect blackmailer send the proof along with threat. Even if the blackmailer really have the evidence, there's no proof that the blackmailer will destroy the evidence or stop blackmailing attempt.
Also, i think the blackmailer is dumb since BTC is only pseudonymous, he/she should've use anonymous cryptocurrency such as Monero.

Bitcoin really is pseudonymous at first but only a few things are needed to make it fully anonymous. Anyone can create a big number of wallets to do mixing of their coins, gambling sites can be used for this, mixing services also. This is the number one reason bitcoin is still the number one used crypto in the TOR browser and dark net marketplaces. There have been no successful stories so far that a criminal using bitcoin to have been caught. Little reminder: HashOcean.
13657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Hackable? on: January 22, 2018, 07:30:38 PM
Bitcoin itself cannot be hacked, not until now. What can be hacked is a bitcoin wallet and there are a few ways to hack a wallet. Most common form is with phishing attempts, sometimes a weakness in a wallet can be exposed like it happened with Electrum wallet a few days ago. Also it depends on user knowledge on wallets. A hardware wallet is considered the most safe of all wallets.

A job is some form of slavery. We accept this form of slavery because we don't have any other option. Look what Charles Bukowski said that" I wake up in 6 am in the morning to get ready for work, take 1 hour train or bus to go to work, I work to make someone else rich ,the boss and I have to be grateful to this person, the boss ?"
I agree with this statement and I am only working a 9-5 full time job only because I don't have other possibilities. If I had I would have quit my job in an instant.
13659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Satoshi Nakamoto will reveal himself one day ? on: January 22, 2018, 06:38:04 PM
I would like to know who he is or who the group is if they are a group that created bitcoin. This currency changed many people lives , not so much here in the US but I know in many poor countries bitcoin has done this. Everyone I think would love to know who the creator/creators of bitcoin is/are. I am only grateful to such person or group for creating what is the most beautiful invention of our century so far.
13660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm gonna sell my house on: January 22, 2018, 06:17:59 PM
I think you are joking. Selling an house is something only an addicted gambler can do in a moment where he has lost his mind together with all his money. I can agree that you can save some money from your payroll to buy bitcoin or that you can sell something you don't need anymore like computer games, old DVD-s and some of your clothes you don't use anymore. Selling the bike maybe but the car definitely not.
