Hooo guys.
My laptop is an alienware from the last year.
I just want to know how to mine ...cause they are already open every day non-stop and at the night doing nothing.

One card is very little even if its the best gaming laptop for consumers or desktop.  GPU's use a lot of electricity and for most people it's not profitable anymore.  I moved to ASICs like others mentioned.

And you will be putting a lot of stress on your laptop.  You will see many open air GPU miners there is a reason for this if you push it the cards get hot and lots of heat.  Mining with a laptop is asking for trouble.  It can be done yes but good way to push your laptop to hard.
13682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: good old 7850 issue (fans start and stop) on: August 27, 2014, 03:55:04 AM
hi everyone, I'm having some issues with my old gigabyte 7850. When I power up the computer I can see the fans spin for about a second and than they stop. There is no signal on the screen. I have checked on a different rig and it's definitely an issue with the card.
It happened once when the card was still on warranty and the service was able to fix it. Unfortunately the warranty is over and I wasn't able to learn what was wrong the first time. I tried googling but haven't found anything about it - any ideas?

Sounds like the fan is shot.  I had a a gigabyte or two with this when I was GPU mining.  If same as mine you could oil, and it made no difference.

I bought replacement fans and put them in card myself.  You can use a big fan beside it if they are overheating whall you wait.   One thing I might warn depending on the card it can be a little hard screwing the small screws in depending on card brand.
13683  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What PSU you use for your antminer S3? on: August 27, 2014, 03:50:25 AM
Use these cheap and SUPER dependable.

Put DIP SWITCH 1 to " ON " and they are almost silent.

http://www.gekkoscience.com/products/D750_supply_breakout_board.html

wow nice. Do they come ready to plug or it's a DIY? What about heat problems?

Normally you order the breakout board and cords and plug into server PSU.

You can make your own cables, but if you do look into what gauge wire to use.  If to small can heat up and bad things happen.
13684  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Ghash.io pool problem on: August 27, 2014, 03:47:19 AM
On the S3 don't put -o if your doing what i think  on pool just have: stratum+tcp://us1.ghash.io:3333

If that dosent work have you tried another pool? (this way we can see network settings are right)

Thank youfor help,it's working now!!

Glad to hear it happy mining!

13688  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cheap, reliable computer to use for cold storage? on: August 26, 2014, 05:52:26 PM
Raspberry Pi is cheapest option in most cases.  If you do use a old laptop just because I'm paranoid if it's your cold storage I would reinstall windows and add virus protection, etc. Then have it dedicated to just cold storage.

Great looking job on cable management.  Very clean looking setup.
13690  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: script problem (I think) on: August 26, 2014, 06:41:19 AM
So I have seen a ton of new miners post this, but I think I think I have a scrypt issue. Whenever I start my miner it starts up then immediately closes. i have windows 8, 32 bit. But I have had this problem with my windows vi ta system too. So the issue might be somewhere else. Any help would be so appreciated! Thank you in advance!

C:\Users\Christopher\Desktop\New folder\CPU Miner>start minerd.exe û-scrypt -o s
tratum+tcp://freedom.wemineltc.com:3339 -u ChrisHaefner.user -p pass -I 13

C:\Users\Christopher\Desktop\New folder\CPU Miner>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

I highlighted it but I could be wrong it looks like you are using the u parameter twice and once has that line above it.  What does it ssay when you try to run the first command?
13691  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using OpenDNS Instead of ISP on: August 26, 2014, 06:34:31 AM
Hi,

Use Google's DNS servers. They are free, and have never let me down.

        8.8.8.8
        8.8.4.4

And they are helpful to track your Internet activity....

They are a viable solution.  Their 8.8.8.8 is hard to forget.  Ive had good luck with them.  And they will be board to tears if they are looking at my mining traffic.
13692  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I infected by Trojan Miner ? on: August 26, 2014, 06:19:28 AM
I ran a netstat on my machine and found a certain connection with a foreign address...

pool-108-51-140-90:14905

Does anyone know what is this ? Is it a mining pool where I am connected ?

Just googling that IP looks like Verizon in the Washington area.  Do you happen to be in this area?  If so i would be less worried.

If you are not I would start running a few malware and virus scans.
13693  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help buying small amount of bitcoin on: August 26, 2014, 06:11:36 AM
Coinbase, localbitcoins, renting a machine.

Lot's of options.  I would suggest setting up a Coinbase account if your going to be using bitcoin long-term.

What he said about Coinbase Smiley They are as reputable as it gets. And if you add a credit card to your profile you can buy coins instantly I believe. I use it, so I can do speak great things.

You can after adding credit card.  They added it as another "verification" that is optional.  If it is on file you get bit-coins instantly. Might have to do a transaction or two before instant and also have to verify bank account.

I suggest if doing it set up a checking account just for online, I personally like having one account not linked to main checking account.   Most major banks you can get a free checking account with putting in minimum amount allowed.  If you have online bank account access can easly move cash to online account, then buy bitcoins Smiley.

They show it as easy as 1. 2. 3. https://coinbase.com/buy-bitcoin

Localbitcoins, and renting don't have to comply with all the know your customer laws, etc.  So they take much less verification (normally just payment).
13694  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining with GPU --- What should I do? on: August 26, 2014, 03:23:19 AM
Hi guys,
We bought 24 -- R9 280x cards and by the time we got them the difficulty for Litecoin went so high.. and we haven't use them since then.. also no one would buy them in my country even half the price.
I was wondering if can do any mining with them that can worth the effort.. is that any good GPU mining still out there?

Would be great if you can help me out

Thanks

You got no choice but to try hard to sell it, the price is dropping each day as we speak.

It is sad but true.  There are many lucky gamers out there getting cards very cheap (if they have not been push to hard).

Some advice on selling include copy of invoice and you will get a little more it seems if your still in warranty with your brand.

13696  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to 1/10 of a bit coin to give a friend who never used bitcoins? on: August 26, 2014, 03:08:19 AM
Easiest is a paper wallet with private key on it..... chances are he wont use it.

I would let him get to know it by getting a wallet then having the fun of seeing wallet go from 0 to having something in it.  He gets to learn about wallets and a little about bitcoin whall you do it.
13697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help Bitcoin on: August 26, 2014, 03:06:28 AM
If you have private key you can import to a lightweight wallet.  But the chain is getting quite big.  Even with a fast connection it can be time consuming to start from scratch on it.
13698  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Im poor as it gets on: August 26, 2014, 02:58:36 AM
How in hell im supossed to get BTC if im going from bill to bill? I dont have any spare BTC, faucets are jokes, and I cant risk my savings into BTC (small savings anyway).

This is what 99% of people i've talked about conclude with, so they end up ignoring the whole BTC thing, since their (our) life will go on the same as it is now.

Selling goods or services.  BTC is a form of money.  You have to do something for it buy/mine are most common.  But selling goods or services are your best bet of no extra cash.

Or there are signature campaigns to once you have been around a while.  Can start with a older miner for fun to learn.

One S3 is most likely your best bet if you have a PSU laying around.  1T is going to he a little higher so far.
