13741  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Wallet hacking is it possible? on: April 01, 2019, 04:01:29 AM
Just like an account where one's fiat currencies are kept so also is wallet where digital assets or cryptocurrencies of crypto lovers are kept. Can the wallet be vulnerable to hacking and if possible how can that happen? If you have experienced it before, I want to learn from your experience.

If you enable 2FA, then the chances are that no one will be able to steal coins from your wallets. But I have heard a few incidents in which 2FA was breached with simultaneous hacks in to the online wallet and the associated gmail account / phone number.
this became so terrible, i became even more careful when using my wallet.
i also have to always check my wallet and make sure everything is safe. i hope bad things don't happen to me.

Just take the basic precautions, such as enabling 2FA and ignoring spam email and you would be fine. Don't be afraid about the hackers. I have been collecting crypto for more than 5 years and till now none of my wallets have got hacked. And trust me, I am not a tech geek and my computer knowledge is close to basic.
13742  Economy / Economics / Re: If you had 10000$ on: April 01, 2019, 03:58:09 AM
If you had 10000$ where would you invest it?  I'm hoping for 10x in about 2 years, how would you personally split that money? There are so many altcoins that I dont know which to pick, I remember the top 5 altcoins from years ago and  now they are all gone, so should I only invest in  BTC end ETH or others like NEO, ADA and EOS?

Cardano was on top of my list until 2-3 months back. But now it looks like ADA has run out of steam. The ADA developers should blame themselves. When they had the opportunity to make ADA popular, they got too arrogant. They should have rolled out a lite wallet or an online wallet in 2018. But they asked everyone to install the Daedalus wallet, which takes 10 GB of hard disk space.
13743  Economy / Economics / Re: 2018 the year of correction? on: April 01, 2019, 03:55:11 AM
in 2019 the bull also hasn't arrived yet. although there was a sharp decline throughout 2018, but in 2019 there will be no further decline. although the crypto market increase has not been guaranteed.

Too early to feel confident about 2019. My inner feeling says that this year will be even worse. I have been around here for quite a while and I vividly remember what happened during 2014-15. What happening right now shows a remarkable similarity to that period. IMO, the bulls are not going to be active before 2020. That is when the next block reward halving is due.
13744  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you need cash for everyday use? on: April 01, 2019, 03:52:12 AM
I am currently residing in India and it will be quite impossible to get by if you don't want to use physical cash. But mobile wallets are getting very popular now. Even auto-rickshaws and street food stalls are now accepting mobile wallets such as PayTM and PhonPe. But I prefer to use physical cash while making smaller payments (such as $0.2 or $0.5).
13745  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CoinMarketCap faking volume on: April 01, 2019, 03:28:44 AM
It's sad to see that even big websites like Coinmarketcap have started to fake volume just to earn some extra money. But sooner or later that probably had to happen because nothing can live forever. New websites offering the same features and statistics have already appeared and soon they will take the lead as the world finds out what Coinmarketcap really is.

Coinmarketcap is not the one faking the volume but the bogus exchange that is listed on their platform.

I would agree with you. Many of the exchanges either artificially inflate the trade volume with the zero fee schemes, or claim fake volumes. This issue is more severe with the exchanges in East Asia and Southeast Asia, when compared to the American and European exchanges. That said, the reputation of Coinmarketcap has gone down over the years, as a result of errors in their data.
13746  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Be careful with fake exchanges on: March 31, 2019, 04:09:15 PM
Exchanges such as Etherdelta use the https protocol and if you are careful, then it is easier to identify the fake websites. One important tip that I would give is to never open exchange sites from links in emails. In 99% of the cases, phishing emails are the culprits for wallet hacks. Bookmark all of your exchanges and open the sites only from those bookmarks.
13747  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What would you change about crypto Exchanges? on: March 31, 2019, 04:03:59 PM
Hi everyone!

What do you not like about crypto exchanges? What do you think exchanges could do better?

Curious as to what you guys think!

First of all, they need to stop asking for the KYC from all the users. If I am a small time crypto user trying to sell my $10 worth of altcoin, then I have to go through this irritating KYC process. Do you think that is fair? KYC should be made mandatory only for the high volume traders. And secondly, they need to lower the withdrawal fee. Most of the exchanges are charging a fee of BTC0.001 to withdraw the coins, which I think is very unfair to the small traders.
13748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin be the same if Satoshi wasn't anonymous? on: March 31, 2019, 03:49:04 PM
In my opinion, I think it will be the same if Satoshi reveals or not. I'm thinking that is why Satoshi is anonymous because Bitcoin is psudo-anonymous too Cheesy. JK. One thing more, I think if Satoshi will not reveal his/her/their true identity for safety and security purposes too.

Very valid point. This was the excuse given by Craig Steven Wright, after he backed out from proving that he was the real Satoshi. Can't blame him, as he was 100% right. If someone is identified as the real Satoshi, then the FBI and other agencies will charge that individual with thousands of crimes. Most probably, he will meet the same fate as that of Ross Ulbricht.
13749  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: All life with cryptocurrency on: March 31, 2019, 03:41:43 PM
I am sure that the cryptocurrency will very soon enter the life of every inhabitant of the earth and will remain for a long time. Cryptocurrency does not stand still, it is constantly evolving.

You need to quantify.

When you say that "cryptocurrency will very soon enter the life", you need to specify what do you mean by very soon. Is it 6 months? 1 year? 2 years? or even 5 years? Bitcoin has been in existence for more than 10 years, and as of now it is being used by less than 2% of the world population.

Similarly, when you say that "it will enter the life of every inhabitant of the earth", you need to specify what do you mean by "every inhabitant". Do you mean 100% of all the humans? Or a bit less at 90%? Or even lower? Also, you need to remember that even digital form of fiat currency (such as CCs and Paypal) are being used by less than half of all the inhabitants.

And now the last thing... when you say that "it will remain for a long time".... How long? 10 years? 100 years? Or 1000 years? Normally technological innovations have a short lifespan... Anyone using floppy discs in your vicinity?
13750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how you feel at this point(currently) on: March 31, 2019, 03:35:09 PM
I hate to say this, but the vast majority of the crypto users are so optimistic about the future of Bitcoin that they tend to ignore the risks associated with it. I agree that there is a good chance that the prices can appreciate by 5 times or even 10 times within the next 5 years. But what if that doesn't happen? We'll end up with something like the Yahoo stock, which will go down with every passing year.
13751  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to check if ICO is scam or not? on: March 31, 2019, 03:32:17 PM
Hey guys, I'm new to the whole ICO world, and BTCtalk as well. I've been reading about a lot of scammy ICOs that take people's money and run away. I'm looking to invest in a couple of ICOs but have no way of knowing if they are good or not. Can anyone tell me how I can go about doing this without losing any money?

To tell the truth, there is no 100% reliable method to flag the scam projects. But from my experience, I would say that projects originating from countries with strict crypto regulation, such as Japan, South Korea, Germany and Singapore are less likely to be run by scammers. Also, avoid projects in which the promoters are anonymous.
13752  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Efficient exchange? on: March 31, 2019, 03:29:50 PM
I want to ask, according to your experience of the many existing cryptocurrency exchanges. Which is the cheapest? And fast in transactions. Please give your opinion here. Thank you so much for all.

The biggest issues that we face are high trading fees, high withdrawal fee.etc. Most of the big exchanges such as Livecoin and Bittrex have higher fee structure. If you want to save, then you should go for the less known exchanges such as Yobit. But I would always go for the more trustworthy exchanges, as I can't risk losing my coins.
13753  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC on ESPN 2: Barboza vs Gaethje Prediction and Info Thread on: March 31, 2019, 03:26:15 PM
Didn't made a bet this time, but watched the highlights later. Edson Barboza lasted for a total of 63 seconds more than James Vick...

Justin Gaethje was simply outstanding.. and after the match, he was challenging Khabib Nurmagomedov!!! I would love to see Gaethje fighting against the Russian. Nurmagomedov has never lost a match... till now.. and if anyone has got any chance against him, it is going to be Gaethje.

I hope so, we have seen lots of sports personalities in the past who have lost all their fighting money. He has a lavish lifestyles, the cars, the houses, you need big money to maintained it. So I don't know if he can stay afloat with that if he stop his fighting career.

But the good thing is that he has a fall back though, like you said. His whisky business, will it bring enough money for him after he retired?

Probably wanted be a majority share holders, hehehe.

There is no guarantee that whisky business will remain profitable forever. If this guy is intelligent, then he should tone down his demands, make sure that he gets 1-2 good fights per year and aim for around $100 million per fight (that was the amount he earned during his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov)

13757  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Qualifying on: March 30, 2019, 11:35:22 AM
It becomes even more annoying when your favourite key player from the club you support picks up an injury from these international breaks. However, we can't avoid them, otherwise nice competitions such as the much anticipated wordcup would not be possible.

It is the duty of the player to represent the national team at least 2-3 times a year. If he can play 40 matches for the club side per year, then it is not fair to stay away from two or three matches representing the national aide.
13758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you watch the matches you're gambling on on: March 30, 2019, 11:27:43 AM
Here in India, cable TV is still relatively cheap. You can have all the HD sports channels for as low as $5 per month. On the other hand, subscription to Netflix costs more than $12 per month.
13759  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible for us to hack some gambling sites? on: March 30, 2019, 11:25:23 AM
Nowadays exchanges are getting hacked with relative ease (Cryptopia, BTC-e.etc). So I don't think that it is that hard to hack some of the online gambling sites. But getting away with the loot is the problem.
13760  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would Bitcoin be the same if Satoshi wasn't anonymous? on: March 30, 2019, 11:16:12 AM
How would the crypto arena be different if everyone knew who Satoshi was?

That depends on the identity of Satoshi. In case Satoshi is some internationally acclaimed mathematician or economist, then Bitcoin would be in a better state. On the other hand, if he is some controversial figure then it would just give more ammunition to the BTC haters.
