They claimed to have reported the incident to the police so what would be great is if they published the police report to prove that it was indeed a hack and not an inside job with one employee disappearing with a shed load of ETH.

143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who dump coins early; Bounty hunters or ICO investors? on: January 16, 2019, 08:11:53 AM
Its so sad when we have been made to believe its bounty hunters who dump their bounty tokens immediately after ICO and so devalue the coins on the market. Because of this notion, project managers these days try to delay bounty rewards while some even go ahead to give small rewards so that the actions of bounty hunters will not affect the price of their coins. Now I participated in this bounty and we were paid late as usual. We went to the market and realized the price was already down, even below the ICO price. So who caused it ? I think we should have a second look at this issue. Don't you think its the investors who get bonuses during the ICO who try to dump their bonuses for profit and not the bounty hunters as we have been made to believe?. Let me hear your opinions guys

Been warning about this for a few years now.  Things are looking worse and worse in the U.S. of A.  If Trump fails it’s gonna get much much ugly real quick.

Newsweek - RUSSIAN OFFICIAL CANCELS U.S. VISIT, SAYING 'SECOND AMERICAN CIVIL WAR' IS UNDERWAY
By Tom O'Connor On Thursday, January 10, 2019 - 13:55

A senior Russian official has canceled a planned visit to the United States, claiming he feared a second civil war being waged by opposing political forces there.

Dmitry Rogozin, the head of Russia's Roscosmos State Space Corporation, who served as deputy prime minister until May 2017, said Thursday that rising tensions between Republicans and Democrats were leading to a breakdown of U.S. society. This included the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), one of many federal agencies affected by a government shutdown due to an inability for the rival U.S. parties to agree on funding for a border wall proposed by President Donald Trump.

Got your passports and a backup [crypto] plan ready?  Not sure where you’re gonna run to given an American civil war would lead to total global choas but hey, you gotta try.

I seriously doubt a civil war is underway in US. Rogozin is famous for giving fantasy description to events, exaggerating to absurd.
You need to know that Rogozin was on sanctions least until October 2018, unable to visit USA. That ban was temporarily taken off so he could visit NASA, with NASA being shutdown by government, the visit is no longer necessary so  Rogozin takes the most out of this, imho.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptopia - BOOM another one gone - where are those decentralised exchanges on: January 15, 2019, 03:34:48 PM
I don't know what is up with Cryptopia and only used them a couple of times and have no coins there at all. But speaking about decentralized exchanges, I am a big fan of them and I wish they can do better but some decentralized exchanges are just bad and have a lot of problems that can lead to huge loss in money for traders there too. But there are really good decentralized exchanges that I use on a daily bases too. so ya until now there is no perfect solution for us yet.

Last year, etherdelta was "hacked" by same hackers who "hacked" now cryptopia.
Is this for real and where from you got that news? Nothing has been mentioned if this hacker is the same person who has already hijacked etherdelta's DNS.
Another million dollars being stolen by hackers.
I just curious about is there a piece of news about that? Can you tell me the source?

It is for real, check it out here https://decryptmedia.com/4495/cryptopia-hacked-etherdelta-2-5million

Quote
In fact, when examining blockchain records, it may have been the same hacker that stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of ETH back in 2017 by lifting private keys from decentralized exchange Etherdelta. Some ETH from the source of funds used for the Etherdelta attack was sent to the same address as a likely recipient of the Cryptopia hack. And it’s a rather suspicious address indeed.

On January 13, 19,390 ETH was sent from a Cryptopia exchange-owned wallet to this address, alongside smaller payments of 1,280, 75 and four ETH. What’s unusual about this recipient’s account is that since that payment, around 75,000 small transactions have been sent to it—all in the last 15 hours. The source of the payments come from other exchanges including Kraken, Binance and Nanopool.

However, one inbound payment caught our eye. If you click on this transaction, and look to the source of its funds, you end up at this address. This was identified as the source of funds for the 2017 Etherdelta attack in this investigation by Hackernoon. Included in the comments on Etherscan, many have left messages asking for funds to be returned as well as one calling for a hit on the hacker. Clearly people are angry but it looks like many haven’t learned their lesson. On January 3, the crypto community were told again and again to take their coins off exchanges as part of a movement led by Tone Vays. Perhaps they were tone deaf instead.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why are you selling your altcoins so soon? on: January 15, 2019, 02:30:03 PM
I am a miner, I sell most of the altcoins I mine to cover electricity.

who lost some BTC there?

Will they be back or gone for good. At least these people are known are they not?

I wonder what will be left when they re-open? if they re-open.

Time for people to wake up and realise these centralised exchanges are just sitting ducks. You never know when they will be hit next.

Time for the decentralised exchanges to take over and people start to use those.

Who here uses any of the decentralised exchanges?

I lost some, but I expected those to be lost, shitcoins that lost 95-98% from the moment I bought them.

Raised red flag in February 2018 when they hijacked thousands of $ in coins, thus hijacking the weekly compounded airdrops.

150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Panic selling. on: January 15, 2019, 01:22:28 PM
Panic sold a lot of coins in March 2018.

Best decision in my life.

More such "hacks" I expect on other such exchanges. Soon
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - Partnership with JAXX and ZelCore! on: January 15, 2019, 10:39:01 AM
Let me tell you the real reasons BTX price dropped so much:

There is no reliable exchange where I can safely deposit 10k $ and buy BTX, I tried all with volume, i used cryptopia, bit-z, hitbtc, every time with issues and delays, up to 12 weeks hijacking my coins and my airdrop. And what did they do with all those airdropped coins? SELL.

Assuming I want to buy BTX, from the moment I deposit my BTC to buy BTX, there is a high chance I will just lose my BTC without getting BTX and totally ignoring it's demand.

And since it is traded only on those shitty exchanges, those exchanges are totally manipulating the price since they can, inflating and deflating to scam you of more BTC, BTX.

I tried easyrabbit a few times, went smoothly, but since some days it doesn't work to buy BTX...

If I would be a BTX dev, I would give all the money or a shitton of money to get listed to a reputable exchange. This thing saddens me the most, since last year still no possibility to buy safely bitcore and hoard them cold and shiny.

QED

154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any chance that XRP can defeat BTC? on: January 14, 2019, 02:04:44 PM
Based on https://coinmarketcap.com/. XRP defeated ETH again. Is there any chance that XRP can defeat BTC too in the future?

Lets say in 1 hour Ripple Foundation creates 370,000,000,000 XRP, at current price that would be around 130,000,000,000 XRP Market Cap. However, for how long? What is market cap without distribution? What is market cap when only 1 party creates XRP?

You can't compare XRP with bitcoin.

NYSE Bitcoin Futures about to go live.  Then those pesky Russians will be buying billions worth of Bitcoin?

A coincidence I’m sure.  😂  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin Futures Battle Heats Up With New Player, Will it Drive Crypto Market Recovery?

MARTIN YOUNG | JANUARY 7, 2019 | 10:00 AM

A lot of hopes have been pinned on institutional heavyweights entering the crypto space in 2019. The promise of more Bitcoin futures and crypto products from the big players could be the catalyst that drives market recovery. A new exchange has entered the fray and it aims to take on the giants with physically delivered Bitcoin futures.

New Exchange Enters The Fray

The highly anticipated New York Stock Exchange owner’s contracts are about to be launched and Chicago’s Eris Exchange LLC will not be far behind.

Converted most of my BTC into BSV starting with 5 January.

Remember January 2018 when NYSE launched first BTC Futures - the price plummeted from 17000$.
156  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptopia turning into a scam? on: December 30, 2018, 08:56:57 AM
I also have some coins stuck on processing for 14 days now, around 5.000$ in coins...

This sucks.

The cryptopia order is still processing, almost a month soon.

They scammed me of compounding 4 weeks of BTX airdrops... A lot of money back then.

Just avoid them.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The bear is strong - HardFireMiner Warning on: December 27, 2018, 08:49:15 PM
the very strong bearis were when I saw BTTC under $ 3,200 and that period was successfully passed, now we will enter into a new era and I think it will be difficult for BTC to be under $ 3,000

I would love to share your optimism, however, 3000$ will happen, I would say 2000$ per 1 BTC will happen.

Good luck
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The bear is strong - HardFireMiner Warning on: December 27, 2018, 08:25:28 PM
Never have men surrendered to bear. However strong it may be, it would be tamed one day. Even the worst of economic depression had ended.
This particular bullish trend had spread over a year now. And the prices are similar to pre bullish market.

Yes, human stupidity is infinite, just like the universe - humans tend to go against the wave and against the trend even if the most rational thing to do is to just accept and go along with the trend.

Can you be more specific about the prices being similar to pre bullish market, how and what do you mean?

159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The bear is strong - HardFireMiner Warning on: December 27, 2018, 08:12:58 PM
I know most of us are expecting the bull and we expect the bull to run faster than ever, however, you must understand that we are experiencing a correction, a preparation for the next bear run.

You have been warned - the bear is strong, the bear is here, act accordingly.

And i wonder what reason makes you think this is a preparation for the next bear run ?

Deep Crypto Market Analysis, also a lot of old BTC addresses awakened and started to move funds to exchanges. All 1 day and above candles charts on BTC are making new lows and lower highs every time.

By old BTC moving I mean 2010-2011 addresses related to first people mining Bitcoin. It may be Satoshi himself or people related to him.
From what I know, BAKKT will be delayed again and even if it wont, remember what happened last year when New York Stock Exchange launched bitcoin futures - the price plummeted right away - the next day to today's lows.

Here we ride again, I hope you did smart and acted on time.

160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will PoS completely replace PoW in the future? on: December 27, 2018, 06:21:42 PM
Given how friendly to the environment PoS is (compared to PoW), and how it achieves consensus faster, more cryptocurrencies have been implementing it over time. Ethereum will switch from PoW to PoS within the next years, while other newly-born cryptocurrencies have adopted it. It's been known, how vulnerable PoW has been against 51% attacks with hackers stealing millions of dollars from small blockchain networks with low hashrate by performing double-spending.

In the case of PoS, a hacker or attacker would need to grab a large stake of coins to be able to perform double-spending. Depending on the price of the coin, it could become extremely expensive to attack a PoS blockchain.

Nonetheless, do you think that PoS will completely replace PoW in the future? Smiley

There is no proven safe consensus mechanism other then POW, all POS coins will die, economically speaking, they can't work.

POS won't replace POW, POS will die.
