141  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Decay system ? on: March 08, 2018, 06:33:38 PM
For now unused sMerit decaying still not implemented.
There are lots of users who are actively sent their sMerits away to deserved threads. I agree that someone who didn't send their sMerits. There are several assumptions why this happened.
1) Those users have not logged in their accounts for a long time before or since the lauch of merit system ----> They might send in the future.
2) Those users have actively used their accounts in the forum, but doesn't familiar with merit system. Maybe they don't care about this or a little bit busy to spend their precious time to read information about merit system's mechanism. -----. They might too.
3) Those one who never care about merit system and their sMerits. ----> Mostly wont' pay attention to their sMerits (for those cases, demeriting is needed), but I guess number of that sort of users are very low.

More importantly, Merit system has experienced around 2 months (since January of 2018); so we should wait one or two more months to see what it will become and how sMerits distributed in the forum.
At the moment, I think merit system has done its good original objectives (controling spammers; discovering merit farmers, etc.)

personally, I will only give my smerit to the members who have given me the merit to my quality post. That way there is mutual reciprocity between those who give merit and those who receive merit. However, I do not give merit to members with legendary level, after all, they do not need merit because of they already at the top level. Therefore, I did not spend my merit uselessly.
142  Other / Meta / Re: Merit rewards for Signature Campaigns! on: March 08, 2018, 06:04:45 PM
I was wondering about the new system that has been implemented. We all know that it can be challenging to earn even a single merit, I mean not all the members of this forum are that familiar to what really is going on, especially to the new members.

So I will get to the point, so how about this, let's say we joined a Signature Campaign it lasts for four weeks. And every week you will be required a number of post, let's say 25 posts. So you've already met that requirement and has been confirmed by the Manager. We also know that the Manager reviews your posts if those are constructive, here's the thing why not reward Merits to those participants that have quality posts, by the Manager.

Then its not going be hard as before for the participants to earn Merits and eventually rank up.

Does this idea make any sense? Let me know guys what is your opinion about this.

EDIT:
I have noticed that few people are saying that the CMs don't have enough merits or Merits to provide for all the participants but as the suggestion of:
In my suggestion, the managers can just pick one suitable member to be given a Merit. Giving all of them are really a huge problem since there are a lot of members in a Signature Campaign.

OR,
As many as the CMs wants.

the number of campaign managers is not proportional to the number of signature campaign participants, and certainly takes a lot of merits to meet the plan you describe it. In addition, this can trigger off the signature campaign from its purpose.
143  Economy / Economics / Re: surprise 2018 on: March 08, 2018, 05:46:53 PM
this moment is a very confusing moment for beginners, because if they decide to hold in volatility such as ups and downs, they will be influenced by FUD and others. As I said earlier that we might will not see a positive movement from bitcoin until may. Do not expect too much right now.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum, Ripple or Litecoin? on: March 08, 2018, 01:29:53 PM
What is the best choice regarding investing in these coins? Lately I have sold my Ethereum and now I am waiting for the right moment to buy them again, but shall I also buy Ripple and Litecoin?

everything you mentioned is on the top list of coinmarketcap based on market capitalization. But if judged from the biggest changes that occurred in one year (2017), namely:
1. Ripple: 4800%
2. Ethereum: 4376%
3. Litecoin: 1062%
From that percentage, it can be concluded that Ripple can provide more benefits than Ethereum and Litecoin.
145  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach 20,000 again on: March 08, 2018, 01:17:22 PM
Simply because the WHALES take the profits whenever there's a 5 to 10 percent growth.  The bottom line is Swing trading and Day trading is real and the HODL method is just what it is...

Hopefully, someone will hear your advice and get out of the train. Well, by the way, last year most people predict bitcoin will touch $ 10k at the end of the year based on their special calculations. But the reality is different, bitcoin was able to penetrate 2x of the number is one cause because viral bitcoin that managed to touch $10k. It does not last long, massive sell occurs after bitcoin records ATH, and until now bitcoin is still stable in the range of $ 10k- $ 11k. So let's just say this point as the lowest bit of the current bitcoin, and the bitcoin's transient prediction will reach $50k, but it could be that it returns with 2x the prediction.
146  Economy / Economics / Re: War on cryptocurrency! on: March 08, 2018, 01:02:22 PM
Governments of many countries are practically declaring war on cryptocurrencies.
Why is that?

Declaring war on cryptocurrency as well as declaring war with the future. This is because they have predicted what will happen in the future to their country with this technology. No other is economic change and can lead to lack of state income from daily transactions. In addition, there are also some countries who consider bitcoin as a threat that can help the process of financial crimes that can also harm the state.
147  Other / Meta / Re: Does merit really helping the forum. on: March 08, 2018, 12:54:22 PM
Merit system have solved the problem of post flooding intended only to rank up.

that's true, at least the work of the forum staff has become less, which used to be a lot of forum members who often do what they call farming activity in order to level up on time, now they only have to deal with new members who always create new topics that are already dozens of times discussed on the forum and think will be given merit and level up easily.
They should be able to do much better. We are all required to make things unique and also useful for many people. This is much more important because we will understand Bitcoin much more quickly and easily, merit has improved the quality of forums and this is very good for the development of this forum, now we can see a significant change like the loss of the scammers. This change has indirectly increased the confidence of various sources of information, the Forum is also increasing in popularity because it can provide confidence in the majority of developments around the digital currency.

Well, if viewed from the purpose and benefits of a forum, this merit system can strongly support the forum to focus more on the purpose of this forum created. Then in terms of business, of course, the future will be more difficult to market the ICO or new cryptocurrency because if the merit system is successful, then people who left in the forum are the people who are competent enough in the field of cryptocurrency so as to minimize fraud because most of the victims of ICO projects that contain fraud are newcomers.
148  Economy / Economics / Re: Study says being rich is determined by chance rather than intelligence or talent on: March 08, 2018, 12:31:41 PM
if I agree with this statement, what about most people who build their wealth from zero and with hard work without despair? What about the difference of difficulty to get $ 100 between undergraduate and primary school graduate. Indeed, there is a small percentage of people who achieve fortune by chance, but we can not conclude that if we are not lucky then we will not be rich.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHAT IF the GOVERNMENT wins over BITCOIN? on: March 07, 2018, 09:58:05 PM
I am into cryptocurrency because of freedom, I can't deny to myself that I have worries regarding this issue.

it is understandable to be worried about what the government is going to do about bitcoin and what kind of regulations they are going to put in place, but at the same time i believe that it doesn't have to be against the "freedom" either. regulations can be good too, they can help the growth, they can prevent a lot of crimes and besides we are living in a world of regulations already. it is not such a bad thing to have it for bitcoin too as long as they are not ridiculous ones.

Correct, the government better have to support cryptocurrency for a economic development in their own country. That's why regulation needed to protect cryptocurrency when used to support negative actions such as money laundering, illegal purchases of goods, and even terrorist financing. Therefore, regulation is also important for the development of cryptocurrency in all parts of the world.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PLAYSTORE and APPSTORE!! on: March 07, 2018, 01:28:37 PM
We are into gadgets, most of the people are addict on it.
We spent more of our vacant time facing our Cellphones and Ipads.

Playing games and downloading some apps on the store require payments, Is this the best time for those stores to open their payment method with cryptocurrency specially Bitcoin?

if its true they need cryptocurrency technology for their sales, I think they will need cryptocurrency with high transaction speed and have features that can be collaborated with their system. But it is likely that they will create their own cryptocurrency. so the app price that appears at one time on your smartphone is not the price in dollars but in the rate of cryptocurrency they use.

152  Other / Meta / Re: Adding Merit was the most correct action against spam, let me explain why on: March 07, 2018, 01:03:33 PM
Hello guys
As I see some people hates merit, some of them enjoys but usually people don't look further to see more positive sides.
Merit was added because of sig spammers, right? People spam to rank up and join campaign and continue spam.
So currently most campaigns require high rank in order to participate. For newbies it's hard to rank up these days....
Now imagine, for spammers it will take maybe years to become SR member, this is much time and will require nervous + it can become annoying for spammers too. So only good poster newbies will fight for this (at least I think so Cheesy).
And you may ask about current high rank members....
We have SMAS list which grows and grows, so current spammers will be included in this list in future.
Now imagine, current lucky merit given spammers will be banned from campaigns + for new users ranking up will be almost impossible without good posts.
What we will get in a result?
Less spammers....
Just wanted to share my opinion....

the opinions you express are enough to clarify my doubts about the effects of this merit system, but now, I can draw the conclusion that with this merit system:
Newbe:
- Will only level up to jr.member if they just keep posting junk.
- Will be tired of creating new topics by itself because they'll need 10 merits to level up. So retiring early from the forum was their only choice.
- means no money.

Jr. Member - Full Member:
- Must be satisfied with the level if never produce quality posts. thus triggering them to try to make quality posts to get merits.
- Spammers who have climbed to this level still have to deal with SMAS Blacklist.

Sr. Member and above:
- Spammers who have climbed to this level still have to deal with SMAS Blacklist.
153  Other / Meta / Re: Merits ! Can I beg to give me merits other participants? Ban or not? on: March 07, 2018, 12:04:54 PM
Before the merit system exists, this forum became a gold mine for bitcoin hunters and became one of the places where people can generate additional income. But that does not last long, here's the bitcointalk.org right now, with a merit system that is also a requirement to level up a member. The bad side from this merit system is that, since its inception, more and more new threads are coming up and mostly made by new members, as well as the topics covered have repeatedly appeared before. So whether or not this system has a positive impact on the forum or is the cause of the growing number of spam emerging by new members.
154  Economy / Economics / Re: Positive thinking brings positive things. on: March 07, 2018, 08:49:52 AM
Forums are being filled with speculation, almost all topics that appear lead to falling bitcoin prices, whether this will continue, this is the right time to buy, blah blah blah. Come on, the storm must pass, let us focus on the positive topics instead of continuing to discuss this 50% decline. Start talking about the positive news from Singapore deputy, bitcoin that has gone up 20% today and others. Think positive and positive things will come.
Well you can't prohibit them from sharing their thoughts and worries. Seeing negative posts about bitcoin falling is just normal because we know that the price had a huge dump last year. We all loss certain amount and some really loss big but now that the price is starting to recover, we can atleast expect the negative threads to be reduced. What's happening here is just going on cycle, after dumps there will also be pumps, but of course we don't know when will that happen and more often, bitcoin will be facing other problems and challenges than these negativity.

I don't mean to forbid people, and if yes, am I capable? can you forbid thousands of members to create a negative thread about bitcoin? certainly not. Here I just suggest, let's focus more on positive coverage of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Additionally, start to expand knowledge of cryptocurrency by asking unknowns with a note that you have checked whether the question has not existed before, so as not to be like an old post that reappears and may result in a non-development of the forum.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: March - bullish month? on: March 06, 2018, 11:49:24 PM
What do you expect - will cryptomarket be bullish in March?

I guess that this bearish trend since mid January should be finally over and the new slow bullish trend will come. Similar to the situation in May 2017 when BTC price was 1500 USD and then the price went slowly up to 7000 USD in the beginning of November. We can see many new people coming to crypto every day. The volumes on major exchanges are quite good these days and with the Lightning Network coming this year I'm very positive about BTC development in 2018.

The price seems stable on $10k-$11k range, and its a good sign. But I don't think we could see a bullish till may. since the last crash, Sure it takes time for the market to recover and re-touch the last listed point. Currently, its still a good opportunity to open a position, where the top 5 coins based on Coinmarketcap (bitcoin, ethereum, ripple, bitcoin cash and litecoin) are still undervalued.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which banks are bitcoin friendly? on: March 06, 2018, 10:50:24 PM
I initially bought bitcoin through my credit union linked to an exchange but got a letter from the credit uinion saying its not allowed and to stop etc
Are there any banks that allow this? Thanks

there are so many people who are doing the same thing, and that causes the NPL (Not performing loan) in the bank to increase. This is certainly not a positive thing for all banks. Therefore, they decided to prohibit the purchase of cryptocurrency transactions using credit cards because they are considered to be a very high risk for the drop in profits due to the high NPL value.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is the bitcoin price determined? on: March 05, 2018, 01:31:33 PM
I have just been recently trying to know how our legend crypto (Bitcoin) price determined. I really need to know more about this. Pls how is the price determined from time to time?

bitcoin is a protocol that can help peer to peer transactions become easier, safer and cheaper so that when first published, bitcoin prices are still not as valuable as it is today. This is due to supply and demand factors, where if demand is greater than supply then the price will increase and otherwise. Moreover, the longer bitcoin stay, it will be more difficult to obtain because only limited to 21 million can be produced and currently has about 16 million in circulation.
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Journey on: March 03, 2018, 12:25:13 PM
I do not agree that we are on track. We should have seen a bigger push already, if we want to see the same growth of last year. The difference in this year is that we are seeing a Bitcoin price that is floating around $10 000 for some reason.

Last year, we had some scaling issues and a small war going on with BCash and the price went up. This year it is mostly good news and the price still hover above and below $10 000. We should start looking at the influence that institutional capital is having on the Bitcoin price.

if we take the benchmark from the bottom point of about $ 5.9k, then this week is the second green candle if tomorrow's week passes with positive results. I see this is already a good move for bitcoin because we can not expect quick returns after the crash from $ 20k to $ 5.9k. I think we still need a few months ahead to record the latest record for bitcoin prices.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin Journey on: March 02, 2018, 12:19:24 PM
The year 2018 has set foot in the third month, and there has been no significant movement. But if we look at bitcoin journey in 2017 based on "Visual Capitalist":

- Price range $ 1000- $ 2000 for 138 Days (January- April) This range is filled with news about Chinese cracks down on bitcoin and Github project.
- Price range $ 2000 - $ 3000 for 23 days (June)
- Price range $ 3000- $ 4000 for 63 Days (in August) filled with bitcoin cash fork.
- Price range $ 4000- $ 5000 for 61 days (August - September) filled with the decision of China to shut down all bitcoin exchange, and Korea Bans ICO.
- Price range $ 5000 - $ 6000 for 10 days (end of October) filled with bitcoin gold fork.
- Price range $ 6000- $ 7000 for 13 days (November) filled with Vietnam news tire bitcoin and crypto payment.
- Price range $ 7000- $ 20k (November - early December) Bullish time.

When we refer to the data, everything looks good-well this year and goes according to the track.
160  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The end of the banks due to bitcoin on: March 01, 2018, 09:10:50 PM
it can't be denied that the development of banks around the world will be affected by cryptocurrency. Currently, many banks have to make efficiency in order to save the company and increase profits. efficiency is done in terms of labor and operational costs. Not in the future, banks will adopt cryptocurrency in minimizing transaction costs between countries.
