141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ETH a Scam ? on: January 15, 2018, 07:14:08 PM
So i saw people post on facebook to buy ETH when it was $0.25

Surely a good choice....

But now it is $1200...... All ETH does is release shady ICOs and some dumb cat dApp. Is this the future of virtual currency or a scam? To make those rich who bought it for $0.25?

We bitcointalk friends should be more smart and AVOID eth to buy whats cheap NOW.

How is it a scam? It's not their responsibility to vet ICOs to make sure they're not a scam, that is your responsibility as an investor. All they do is offer a platform for others to use, if they scam others than that's not their fault. ETH is a superpower within the crypto world.
142  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin's threat on: January 13, 2018, 08:58:22 PM
I really think that the creation of new E currency is a threat to bitcoin.
Like for example. Some investors may move their investments to other currency made.
If bitcoin for example has 100 investors in all, then several currency is made with the same value as bitcoin. (we say 3 currency)
then the 100 investors may move to other 3 currency to find more specific or easier way to earn money or inflate their investments.
Do you think these probability will occur?

So what you're saying is that someone may create another crypto that takes away from bitcoin? That's entirely possible but that competition is what will always push bitcoin and the others to be better. Without competition we would remain static and that would be worse for us as investors.
143  Economy / Economics / Re: question on long term prices on: January 12, 2018, 03:43:41 PM
Hi, I am new to all this, but help me understand this. If there is a crypto coin that is very useful and has functional value, not just speculative, say it becomes very expensive. What is to stop someone from just creating their own coin that is the almost identical to it, and using it instead, so high prices are not paid for the other coin? How can all these coins maintain high values, when people can just create as many new coins as they want?

Because that coin would not be the same and for most coins the price is completely irrelevant for their actual use case. Take bitcoin for example, if it is actually adopted as a currency worldwide (which is the end goal) the value of it does not really matter so much because weather you pay 0.1 BTC or 0.000001 BTC for a banana it is all relative to how many BTC are in the world in total. I'm not sure that makes sense but it makes sense in my mind.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If you had $50, what would you invest in? on: January 11, 2018, 09:24:17 PM
Hey Folks, I know this was posted all the time, and sorry about that. But I'd like to hear from you what would you invest in if you had 50 dollars in your pocket ready to put into some crypto?

With just 50 usd I would look for something with big potential, 50 usd isn't a big deal to me so I'd take a risky approach, I'd be looking for an ICO to give me the best chance of having big gains, something then in the payments or finance industry would be my choice, I can't tell you exactly what because I'm not actively looking for any ICOs to participate in right now.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Million coins for 100usd?? on: January 11, 2018, 09:21:54 PM
Ok I been reading up on how people bought 1million coins for like 100usd back in January 2017 which are now worth several cents each. So my aim is to find out which coins are currently worth in similar price range where I can purchase 1million coins for around 100usd which will have a great future ahead?

I can’t seem to find any so I’m trying out the forum.

There aren't too many coins now that launch with such a low price, to have such a low price you'd need a coin with a huge supply. Check out the announcements thread and look for ICOs that have large supplies and very cheap tokens.

P.S. the price of the coin is completely arbitrary, if you buy 100k coins for 100usd and they grow 10x that's the same as 10 coins for 100 usd growing 10x.
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Got $400 to spend, what altcoins or Altcoin? on: January 09, 2018, 09:32:39 PM
Hi All,

I have 400 dollars to spend and I want to purchase some altcoins, what would you recommend? Buy a few cheap ones or all in one?

some of what I'm looking at:

IOTA
ADA
Civic

Your responses will be appreciated.

Thanks

The best practice is generally to split your investment but if you are planning on holding in a private wallet or such it can get costly transferring to and from exchanges with such small amounts. So then I'd go just one coin. IOTA and ADA have already had their pump so of the three you should go for Civic.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Real alternatives to Ethereum smart contracts? on: January 09, 2018, 09:29:22 PM
There are BitShares, EOS smart contracts but I hardly see any usage of them in real projects.
I don't count Ethetreum classic because it's the same architecture.

What are the good working alternatives to Ethereum smart contracts that can be used in a real-world project right now?

Waves and NEO are the first two that spring to mind, why is it that you don't want to use Ethereum though? I don't really see any reason to use the others as from what I've seen Ethereum works perfectly fine, and it will only get better once fees can be greatly reduced.
148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Will Happen In The Crypto Market In 2018? on: January 09, 2018, 09:26:14 PM
Tell your thoughts well?

I think it's going to be another great year in the crypto market. I don't think we will quite live up to the highs of 2017. I think that the market is going to face its ups and downs and right now it's going to be hard to make the next big step and really breakthrough in to the mainstream. I expect in 2018 we might see the first coin/company that challenges the established elite.

150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What makes you think that ICO is good? on: December 24, 2017, 09:07:09 PM
I always check their website  and team as well. How about you guys? Do you go by suggestion or do you do research on the ICO?

I take some suggestions from a few friends and I use a few things to immediately judge an ICO such as the look and feel of site and the level of interest, after that if I'm interested I read the whitepaper and then look at how it will fit in and who they'll compete with.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Being Millionaire with Altcoins? on: December 24, 2017, 08:00:50 PM
Hi Guys!
Do you think the successful story of BTC could happen once again?
With 8 year hodl or not.
Just being realistic and taking measurements from some prediction sites
like https://coincheckup.com/predictions the maxium of increase is 70x of worth.
But is that true ?
There could be more growth?! because ETH and LTC
are way much better in their technologies, the marketcap is still growing too and 2018 are the mass of investors coming  ...

What are your thoughts ?!

happy trading and merry xmas

I think it's possible but not nearly as likely, now people are far more educated about the value of cryptocurrencies and so we are unlikely to see such big price increases as often coins will start out at a well valued price already.
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is DOGE pumping? on: December 24, 2017, 07:59:55 PM
I am not sure why, but DOGE has been pumping so hard and it has reach as much as 55 sats on some exchanges. I don't get it, I've been reading their website, their BCT thread and even their social media accounts. I don't even see any new developments for that coin and it is pumping! I think this is extremely artificial, I am calling it a BS pump and will short it, this will be a good profit for sure since I think it will for sure DUMP!

Every single coin on bittrex that was under 100 satoshi has pumped hard, in fact Doge seems to have pumped the least at only about 4x its value of 10 days ago which puts things in to context. For some reason all cheap alts are pumping hard.
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: are BCC And BCH same? on: December 24, 2017, 04:19:56 PM
are BCC And BCH same..are they both bitcoin cash?
the one i see on bitcoin Cash on coinbase same as one on bittrex?

Yes they're the same in a lot of places but also some places BCC is bitconnect instead of bitcoincash. If you see BCH you can be sure it's bitcoin cash, if you see BCC you should make sure to check. They messed up the tickers in the early days.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Future of altcoins without Bitcoin on: December 24, 2017, 04:14:04 PM
Hello!

With the recent decrease in value of Bitcoin, the value of almost all the altcoins dropped too.
Now BTC is rising again and so are the altcoins.

I am thinking that if Bitcoin ever crashes, I mean completely drops to a very low value and when doesn't increase anymore.
Then the altcoins are going to drop too and won't have a high value anymore too, which means the cryptocurrency world will die.

Is my statement just nonsense or can it be correct?

I'm curious of what you all think will happen to the altcoins if BTC crashes for real.
I think there is a risk that most of the altcoins will not exist anymore. If bitcoin is dead, then it seems to me that Ethereum will remain, as a real alternative to any bitcoins (bitcoin, bitcoin сash, etc.). Of course, this is only an assumption.

I think even ethereum wouldn't survive, especially if it happened in the immediate future. If it happens in a few years then people may be better educated on cryptocurrencies and their benefits but right now I think nothing would survive without bitcoin.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin bubble going to explode? on: December 24, 2017, 04:09:12 PM
Hello, There is ongoing talk about bitcoin that this bubble is going to explode soon. I learned about Bitcoin from http://technogeek.review/ and I have invested about 1.5 lakh in Bitcoins. even the same website is saying that it is going to end soon. Currently, I am in the loss, so can not even withdraw my money  Sad

Right now there is no bubble and nothing is going to burst. If anything we may enter in to a bear market for an extended period but there will be no such flash crash where the price goes to 0 or as good as 0. Maybe in the future but not now.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you donate Bitcoin for the poor and needy? on: December 24, 2017, 04:02:35 PM
The point is to keep a bitcoin separately for donation to the poor. Donating a bitcoin directly will make sense if the receiver is aware of the functioning of bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. A poor and / or needy man can be sometimes an educated man or a knowledgeable man who is struggling to meet his ends. Bitcoin can otherwise be encashed and given to the poor.

It is always better to think big. I would rather create a trust or try to invest in healthcare or education of a poor child. All quick helps will not last long. Educating one child by spending a $25000 or more will reap great benefits to the society in comparison with feeding a whole lot of people once with the same money. Though it is not bad to feed but it is better to invest in a system that more than once continually feeds.

Yes I will donate Bitcoin to the poor and needy the way I feel is best useful for them. One percentage of the income can always be set aside for donation. After all, life is short and it is best to help as much as we can.

It is important to give to others who cannot provide for themselves in the current time and you are right in your knowledge that helping at a earlier stage or on a more fundamental level is far more effective. Where we differ however is maybe in the idea of who should provide such things. I see it more as a governmental and societal role that we push for better education and such for a child.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2018 is the new era for bitcoin? on: December 22, 2017, 09:52:18 PM
Hello,

i see the chart is going up now, maybe for a short term and go back down, but do you think the new fresh money which can be reinvested from the beggining of Jan ( especially the chinese funds, as the banks release the holden stocks of private investors and companys  ) will keep the price maybe back to 20k or even higher?

can you maybe tell me some reasons why it is going up for the future?

btw iam a long term holder ( 3+ years ) and iam not panic selling at all, i just wait for the right moment.

Bitcoin will only continue to grow, it is important to come out of this bad spell because there will certainly be a lot of negative publicity around it. If the price can remain relatively stable until the new year then confidence can be returned and the price can push upwards again in 2018. Whenever confidence is high there is lots of positive sentiment around bitcoin and new investment always flows in.
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: All coins! on: December 22, 2017, 09:44:13 PM
All coins are going down massively past 2 days.
What is going on?

Bitcoin has crashed pretty hard and alt coins always seem to follow suit, also they pumped hard the last week or 10 days and a correction was definitely due. Wait it out, it will all blow over.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: More economic coins on: December 21, 2017, 09:32:40 PM
Altcoins hare having good times lately. Some of them increased a lot and some of them lost same value so they are good to buy now. Personally i like buying cheap coins in big amounts as well. Investing in these coins makes more sense to me and as for Neo and Ark they both have a bright future a head. I am expecting them to be very valuable soon.

sure, I think the same: buy big amounts of cheap coins (not all, of course, but those you think have big potential) and hodl until eventually
some of them become more popular and the price increases 20x - 50x or more

You need to have the hodler attitude btw, cause now almost everything you buy gives nice gains. But it will not always be like this.
Now BTC dominance is 44%, I expect it become higher than 50% soon

Last week BTC dominance was above 63%... I believe BTC dominance is going to drop even further, maybe as low as 30%.

Altcoins are really gaining traction and if BTC value reaches again the previous peak, the good alts will follow.

In time bitcoin dominance will continue to decrease, I say this time and time again, bitcoin is just one coin and in fact there are already many superior coins and so in time bitcoin can not continue to have this level of dominance, in time other cryptocurrencies will get the recognition that they deserve.
160  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Apple have been discussing the posabilities of using Ripple [XRP] on: December 21, 2017, 09:30:51 PM
Ripple is a good coin which is used by many banks in the world to execute the international transaction. So, If Apple can use Ripple, that will pump its price to the moon.

Of course it would, but the point is, as many people have said, that this is completely unverifiable news and the chances of it being correct are very very slim. There's no point trying to profit from something that's probably complete garbage.
