- The official statement was published at 16:19 (Moscow time, which is just +04 UTC)

Exchanges owners are calling some whales friends to shake the price a bit because everything is too quiet and they are not making money from fees.

Bitcoin is software and a p2p network. Bitcoin is FLOSS. Also its protocol is constantly being adapted by social consensus and not by any sort of central authority. Its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, never did a single commentary about "investing in Bitcoin", nor the core devs... So tell me, how could Bitcoin be a Ponzi Scheme? if you think about it the old-fashioned stock market seems more ponzi than bitcoin  |

Seems that the price of btc has maintained right around the $800 level on all exchanges for a fairly long time (except for Mtgox) - and it is doing so a little bit too conveniently. With the stock market making big moves and various big news stories coming out about Turkey, Argentina, BTC china accepting deposits again, etc, you would think there would be bigger moves. My guess: the large btc holders are trying to reduce volatility in btc to remove this stigma about it. They do so by capping rises and putting a floor on dips. Manipulation is manipulation. Let the market take it where it wants to go.

True, but those two are the only really large ones in bitcoin history, right? Those two are nothing compared to April-June 2011, there was some real pain in the ensuing bear market, none of that "oh noes, my money is only worth what it was worth yesterday/last week/last month" Exactly. I wouldn't call these "pulses" a pattern, actually, I wouldn't even say that the first "pulse" in 2013 is similar to this one. |

You bitcoin millionaires should start using your bitcoins for founding bitcoin startups immediately, and also massive amount of ads everywhere.
With all that money you may improve many things in bitcoin itself and related, use stuff like BitHub to encourage more development, or found academic researches.

But they said they were doing it today, not on the business days following Jan 31st It's late in China.. so no office hours. Either tomorrow during office hours, or next week during a business day when holiday period ended. Anyhow, bitcoin in China is over and only fools are currently buying. hahaha yeah well, the reality is happening and nothing is going to happen. OP is right, I hope bears didn't loose to much shotring and still have some fiat to get back in game  |

WARNING We are about to start a really bearish week! There are bad news from everywhere: USA (BitInstant CEO/Bitcoin Foundation VC arrested), Russia (Bitcoin could turn illegal), China (January 31st). I'm not telling you to sell... but maybe you should if you care about short-term. God help us. |
