I'm surprised these smaller guys aren't going for that 50 TH/s reward.

The block must have distracted everyone. I'm not sure how man smaller miners pay attention to the forum and read it though........so in that case, let's increase the qualifications to 1TH/s - 15 TH/s and see if that attracts a few more.

Someone has to have an easy analogy they can share that helps them understand.

B-B-B-B-B-BLOCK MAN, BLOCK MAN, BLOCK MAAAAAN!!

love the line "so in that case, let's increase the qualifications to 1TH/s - 15 TH/s and see if that attracts a few more. "
i second the motion!  Grin

BTCBTCBTC MINE ON @ KANOPOOL
Yay - now I have a chance since I have an S9!

jst seem that our luck hasnt been great as of late :/ sluch has better payout up to the point where the yearly amount is done.
We REALLY got hit bad with two blocks around 900% in October.  Those really dropped our rate a lot.  I know it will come around - and the nice part is with the smaller hash rate (bigger payouts per Th we submit) - when it does come back, we will be doing the SUPER HAPPY DANCE!  Those stats will turn around very quickly!
143  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 26, 2018, 11:56:43 PM
Expected luck is 100% and if we hit that on every block all is good in the BTC world.  Better luck is less than 100% and worse luck is greater than 100%.

Our block 509209 was super lucky at 7.588% while our block 491758 was super unlucky at 928.788% Cheesy

Some other pools represent luck in reverse for some reason Huh
I think I finally have the notices configured now but have a question about how to display luck.  Right now I am showing the diff % as the luck.  Does that make the most sense to everyone?  I have it setup so that the system sends out text alerts right away once it gets the block number and value.  Then when it gets the pool hash rate, it sends the email with a lot more details.  Right now I am estimating the pool hash rate based on the shares submitted.  Should be close to the BTC per Th for your miners but wont be perfect.  Anyway, let me know if I should change the luck percentage around...

I still don't completely understand ...  If I send all my BTC from my temporary/work wallet so my Nano S9 that would be a transaction and it would consolidate?

I really like having everything in one wallet...then periodically transfer to Nano S so that would do it?
Yes that would do it.  I typically wait at least a month and often times it will even be 3 months.  If you get somewhere near 20 to 30 new transactions in your wallet, that is a good time to start trying to find a good time to consolidate.  I always set it to a super low amount - who cares if it takes a week or two to get through.  If you specify too low of an amount, it will eventually come back to your wallet and there are ways to force it to come back too.  if your wallet does not have the option to specify the mining fee specifically - like jaxx, set it to the lowest mining fees you can.
145  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 26, 2018, 05:35:06 PM
Consolidating: Each payout you receive does make a total in your wallet, however when you go to spend, transfer, sell, etc. Each transaction accessed cost extra transaction fees. To avoid higher fees later it is suggested to consolidate all your payouts into 1 coin if you will.

so in my wallet its not jst a ballance it more of a collection of ballances added together ? and how do we know when its good to consolidate ?
You really never NEED to consolidate, but when the fees are huge like they were a couple months ago and you need to send BTC to someone, it is much better to have a smaller number of transactions that were done at times like these.

I consolidate my mining rewards to a different address in the same wallet and when I look at the blockchain, it seems to have the same effect. If someone knows that is wrong, please let me know!

Also, if you want to have an email sent to you when the blockchain is low, you can do that for free at minergain.com.  Create an account, click on monitor, then go to settings and setup the "Weekly BTC Mempool Alert" to the threshold you like.

When you are ready to consolidate, you can see the recommended fees at https://www.minergain.com/faq.html#consolidate.

When I get time, I'll go through the list of usernames that dropped off and check them closely - it's pretty easy to tell when someone is doing that, if you already suspect it.
(and ban their accounts and IP addresses and payouts)
I have the user count per minute if you need it Kano (not sure if you archive that or not).  Looks like the change was during the hour starting 2018-02-23 23:00:05 UTC/GMT we had a high user count of 1425 and a low of 1156.  That would be the time to focus your attention.  If you need more granular info, pm me.
147  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 24, 2018, 01:31:18 PM
- You must be already mining on Kano with a combined hashpower below 10THs between ~500GHs and ~1THs (on the Pool Stats page).
- Send me a direct [Private] message with your user name, if you qualify and wish to participate. Do not reply to this with your user name, as we don't want to flood the forum, unless it is for a general comment.
- I will randomly draw one qualifying user tomorrow Monday midnight CET Monday evening EST. I will then announce the 'winner' and the S9 Avalon6 (3.5THs) will run under its user name until Sunday midnight CET Sunday evening EST.
- Should the machine drop in hashpower or encounter any technical issues, I will not be responsible and liable to make up for it.
Also, any stipulations for how long they have been mining to qualify? I'm thinking it would be cool to do for some of these guys who have stuck it out versus someone who only has maybe $150 worth of equipment. Like maybe a minimum of 3TH or so who may be a little more invested.

What do you guys think??
I have a single s9 miner and consider myself a small miner (perhaps even tiny these days with the global hash rate).  So obviously I would LOVE to be included in the drawing.  Perhaps the maximum is a percentage of the global hash rate rounded to 1Th/s?  Then it would change each week.

Also, as I offered before, if someone creates a banner ad, I will put it on minergain.com - and this seems like an amazing opportunity to attract attention.  Just put "*restrictions apply" at the bottom of the ad in small print and have the ad link to someplace.  I also would be happy to create a page on minergain for anyone to link to if Kano does not want to put it on the bitcointalk top page (since it will be changing frequently).  I can even do a signup form where the "sharing" miner can get notified for each signup or a daily summary email.  If that miner is already signed up with minergain and has uploaded their rewards at least once, then I would know their hash rate and how long with Kano as well.

Anyway, please share your thoughts on how minergain can help with this wonderful program.
148  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 24, 2018, 01:16:44 AM
sorry for the extra notifications - working on the alerts...  we did not find a block yet....
149  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 23, 2018, 11:40:16 PM
No worries at all, you offer a free service to the community. Please don't feel like that was frustration at you or your awesome notifications. Yours is (in my opinion) the quickest to notify me! I'm just glad it was an issue that could be brought to your attention. I was more frustrated at my luck assuming it was something on my end since both failed at the same time. What a coincidence!

Thanks again!
Not to worry - and thank you for letting us know.  I too use it to get notified right away...  I would have been on top of it long before now if not traveling.

I did decide to change the code so that when the new block is detected, I force the public block page (https://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks) to get read 10 seconds later.  That has the a lot of the details that would be interesting for all of us to have on an email / text alert including the price - and I am saving the number of shares submitted as it goes, so I will be able to come pretty close to the CDT (coin per day per Th/s) and BTC per Th value that will be paid to us.  Eventually you will be able to enter your costs  per miner and it will show your your profit / loss on the block.

I figured it was worth the few extra second delay to have the ability to get all this additional info.  I also am queuing emails up, so they are sent between the other processing jobs.  So if we end up having 10,000 people getting the immediate notifications, it could take a couple minutes before everyone gets them.
150  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 23, 2018, 07:51:05 PM
Am I the only one that got no notification from both the ckpool status app AND minergain? I'm glad we got a block, and I'm all for surprises but holy shit I need at least one of the two to go off  Undecided
Sorry again for missing the boat on that.  I am working to show block values and hopefully CDT and botched the whole process just before I flew out on vacation.  I'll get it working today...
151  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [45+PH] KanoPool kano.is 10 BTC giveaway 🐈 on: February 23, 2018, 07:42:05 PM
I think you cheat, yes!

Did you do it again? why you use Week CDT instead of Month CDT for slush? Week CDT has latest difficulty... uhmmm

Code:
Name	Payout	Hash Rate	Network %	Users	Block (d:h:m)	Week CDT	Month CDT	Quarter CDT	Year CDT	Web
KanoPool PPLNS 49.16PH/s 0.19% of 25.27EH/s 1,439 509209 (7:17:11) 0.00000000 0.00002591 0.00014308 0.00035475 kano.is
SlushPool Hybrid PPS 2.39EH/s 9.47% of 25.27EH/s 18,452 510427 (02:04) 0.00008985 0.00009807 0.00015120 0.00033502 slushpool.com

month CDT slush vs kano -> 0.00009807 vs 0.00002591

Not eighter a real photo of what has happent in January/February, but, at my oppinion closer than your maths...

I noticed this morning that my CDT was off for the last block.  I tried to auto-fill the Kano effective hash rate with the number of shares submitted and obviously botched it up. I am 99% sure it is right once anyone uploads their Kano rewards page because that directly has all the data that is needed to compute the CDT.  I uploaded mine a few minutes ago so should be right soon.  This will eventually all get worked out, just a huge amount of math to keep track of.

My idea would be to target the millions of workers on Antpool that just aren't taking the time to realize there are other options. So many people I'm sure, just leave their rigs on Antpool because it's bitmain. Bitmain pushes the pool on their site, so I don't see why we couldn't take out some ad space somewhere. I'll chip in on the first run at Minergain if he's open to posting it. But imagine if a graphic were posted on some of these difficulty sites where people track it, or on the bitcoin news sites, any exposure is better than none IF and only if your goal is to bring more people in. Get people talking.

Minergain let me know what some ad space would run on your page and we'll work something out. Again, I know this isn't the fix for what some would argue isn't even broken. I'm happy here at Kano or else I wouldn't be here like many of you. I enjoy the community, even though we argue, we don't see eye to eye, and everyone has their own opinion. But what I can suggest is, if I'm helping a newb anywhere on Bitcointalk in some other random thread and have a signature banner etc. pointing them to Kano, where I mine, they may just ask about it. They might finally google PPLNS and realize there are other options. Who knows, but it's worth a shot. I'm simply trying to bring ideas to life. Someone here said we needed graphics.

I also have no qualms with the site, which is why two of the graphics have a strikingly similar color style to them from the kano site. *tip of the hat* It won't look weird if they saw the graphic color scheme first, it would all tie together.
Finally back from vacation - although not totally caught up yet.  I have not thought about ad revenue at all for the site, that may be a viable way to pay for my time in the future.  It certainly is not worth a lot right now since the traffic is only about 50 unique visits per day.  Since helping Kano grow was my initial intent for the site, I would love to put something on the site for two months for free and see where it goes from there.

Also on a side note, some of you may have noticed the last kano block did not get sent out.  I broke the immediate text alerts for a block before I left on vacation (trying to give a lot more details for the alert).  I should have that fixed today though.  Sorry for the inconvenience on that.

So if someone can pm me with thoughts on a banner ad (and even better would be a completed one), I will get something up there.

Hi guys. I am on vacation this week and had a couple minutes to check a couple  posts and saw minergain. I will review all this next week and Sorry for the show response.

And this is EXACTLY what it's about! Taking back from the corporate monsters, who subliminally slip their pool into everything.
When I made my signature back in December, that's what I was promoting for: Help the smaller pools, and the community they
represent. If, and when, you hear back from Minergain, please let me know. I too, would like to contribute towards marketing
Kano's pool. For now, I'm going to post the sh*t out of your banners on the groups I'm in on social media.

Well, I give up... The Android App doesn't send me a new Block notice, the other web based tool doesn't send me a new block notice.  Seems nothing does.   So I just decided to fix it myself.

I created a little perl script that reads the pool API and when a block change happens it will send me a pushover notification!... Problem solved.

I don't know how fast is *too fast* to ping the API, so I've slowed that way down for now. (2 mins would be min notification time).  I use Pushover for a bunch of other things and it's easy enough to use so TADA

I did make the little pushover app subscribable.  I want to run it for a block or 2 (my incentive to make them happen quickly), just make sure it works ok.  If so, and there are others interested, let me know and I can provide the Pushover subscribe link.

yeah, maybe now I'll get a notification of a new block found!
I too built minergain.com for this exact purpose - plus a whole lot more (including tax prep needs and eventually wallet valuation) since I mine on multiple pools.  I am checking with the kano home page every minute and when it changes and the immediate notification is set, it sends right away.  I am thinking I will change it a little bit so that I can also get the payment amount on the email as well - but it may delay the notification by another 10 to 30 seconds.  Not sure what kind fo information people would like to see on the notification email / text.

I think he's just going on the .9% fee, as that is all that kano makes besides his own miners.
And I have heard directly from Kano that he does not run his miners unless he needs his house warmed up.  All of my discussions with him demonstrates that his primary mission for this site is the heath and future of bitcoin.  And yes, he probably does all right with the fees too - although having close to a dozen servers around the world is also not free.

Yes, my bitcoin address is correct..I have used a Bitmain S9 14TH... I am sorry if i am here to ask, i have waited for the payment, but it's been a long time.
I know they are not many, but I would like to have them ..
Thamk you for your courtesy!

Your address almost looks like it is from a pool since every day or so there is a receipt of around .08BTC which is then distributed to about 40 to 50 addresses about 15 minutes later.  Check out https://blockchain.info/address/1JWM1ZLCjZpNc5JuicySGBim1Wvy24kWXZ for details.

I keep checking the website about every hour it seems. I’m so anxious to see if we found another block.

Get yourself one of the smart phone apps and the Zach Monroe CKPool Monitor.  Then you can get text and email notifications of found blocks and down miner notifications Cheesy

From Kano's first post on page 1 of this forum topic:

Quote
There's Apps to get pool info and monitor your miners.

Apple App:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1344360.0

Android App, read in the thread here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.msg11091187#msg11091187

For miner monitoring:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1331875.0

Send any donation/whatever to them for using them - since they wrote them.

Except that doesn't work on Android.  I've never got a block notification from it, or a hashrate notification.  Hasn't worked for a couple of updates ago
I almost have the monitoring alerts setup (had to finish email queuing first which I just completed today) and do have the block alert setup already at minergain.com.  And it is free of course.

I just connected to kano pool this morning about 12 hours ago, running Ebit E9+ and hshing steadily at about 9.3+ TH/s.

These are my numbers (rewards) below:-

Worker Name:   Work Diff   :Last Share   Shares   :Diff   :Share Rate   «Elapsed   :Invalid   Block %   :Hash Rate
xxxxxx.worker   7.380k   1s   21,984   168,874,973   9.59THs   1m 16s   0.128%   0.001%   9.55THs
Total: 1 (1 active workers)   21,984   168,874,973   9.59THs       0.128%   0.001%   9.55THs

Are these numbers correct? Seems like half of what I got from slushpool for 12 hours of mining.

Can advise please?

It takes time to populate open shifts with shares on this pool.  Slush, I believe, populates shifts very quickly which means the depopulate very quickly as well, meaning that yoiu have a higher chance of shares not being paid at all.  This pool has a long period of open shifts, 5 Times Difficulty, which means that you have a much lower chance of shares not being paid.  So once your 5 times difficulty of shifts is populated with shares you will see normal payouts.  When you stop mining you will continue to get paid for your open shifts until your 5ND is fully depopulated.

err... I can only run my miner during the day about 12 hours daily. Does it mean it is better for me to mine here at kano's, or better to mine at slush?

sorry for the noob question, as I'm really a noob when it comes to mining pool's shares / shift and such.

It depends on the luck for slush.  If we assume you run exactly 12 hours per day, then once you are ramped up at Kano, you would be paid for pretty much half of your full hash rate.  At slush, they have a short ramp up/down time (not sure what it is now), so if they have a streak of great luck while your miners are on, you will do well, but if they hit a couple long blocks while your miners are on and make up the difference while yours are off, then you will really be taking a bath.  Personally I would stick with here since you know you will get paid for the hours you put in.
