141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 06:16:15 PM

I would do a windows search of all files and folders on your pc including hidden files and folders and delete anything related to gpucoin.

Re-download the client and see if that works.

Thanks, I will try this.

I solved the problem with your help.

It is somewhat odd and probably unique to XP.

I was using the latest client.

I have a folder called "AppData" in my Owner's directory.  It contains the configuration for one coin and was probably generated when I installed that co

In the same directory there is a hidden folder called "Application Data".  The only way I found it was by searching for hidden files, in the Owner directory it does not even give the option to make hidden files un-hidden.

I found the config file and deleted.  Thank you very much.

Glad you managed to sort it. I would be tempted to delete the whole file. You haven't used the wallet for anything I'm guessing so it won't make any difference just start with a fresh folder wallet etc

Can someone please tell me if they can get the wallet working on XP and how they did so, rather than say something rude about needing to get a new computer like that last person - which is absolutely useless advice to me.

Otherwise I am selling my stake since I cannot receive it.

I know this really doesn't help but I'm running the wallet (v0.8.6.2) on XP and I haven't had any problems. What is happening with yours? Has the wallet fully synced with the network (lower right hand corner, green check mark)?

I unzipped the latest client, when I try to run it it gives an error message about the genesis block not being found and then forces me to close it.

Nothing is generated in the AppData folder.

I usually just unzip the wallet client (and other files with it) and it runs.  First time I am having problems with a wallet on this computer.

You can also try a conf file, which should be in the same directory:

Code:
rpcuser=<your username>
rpcpassword=<your pass>
rpcport=<I picked 6857>
daemon=1
server=1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
addnode=188.226.166.12
addnode=107.170.227.7
addnode=188.226.169.204
addnode=128.199.220.62
addnode=107.170.36.126

Please note that my conf file is setup in case I want to solo-mine, which is not really a great idea tbh. All you probably need are the addnode lines.

*sighs*

THERE IS NOTHING IN APPDATA.

This is literally the third time I have been given these instructions.  They do not work.  Please if anyone has advice do not repeat this.

Are you sure you have the latest wallet? If I remeber correectly when uzipped only thing there was the wallet-qt and gpucoindeamon.exe

Yes.

Those are the two files I have as well.

144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 04:01:34 PM

And when the price is so hight that it would become profitable to mine them for GPU, I could simply cashout and buy a stack of ASICs to mine litecoin or one of the 1000 altcoins, lowering my electricity cost by factor of 10...

Precisely. Ultimately defeating the purpose of GPUCoin. Until ScryptN comes along in ASIC form later this year. Well wait, that would defeat the purpose as well. (see how that works?)

I'd wager I'm one of the few here with more than average ScryptN hash ability, and if you do the math like I have, what benefit for me is there to mine GPUC to buy GPUs, when I can get them for 20% below MSRP shipped next day air, with no quantity limits, using BTC?

Which is why I said, it would demand GPUC be worth a bunch, far more than the IPO value. I'm not saying it's impossible or won't become that valuable, just throwing out some real-life math for folks who maybe haven't considered it.

And if the talk of an IPO regretting refund is referring to me, I have no regrets, just like none of the other refunded former IPO purchasers. i think there were 10 of us. I bailed because I lacked faith in the owner's capability to run a business, nothing more nothing less. Others bailed for various reasons. I only bought IPO to resell it, just like is being done by some others who hold IPO right now.

I absolutely love the idea of the business model, but the lacking availability of the cards will do it in. Just a prediction. I still hope it the best, as the owner can attest, I wished him all the best.

You say you only bought the IPO to resell it, what has that got to do with the business model off the CEO and you deciding to get a refund?

IPO investors have already made 5 times initial investment if they sold now at 0.00000110
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 03:36:11 PM
I think the price for GPUC should remain fairly stable,  once the store opens up and we have some idea about how many GPUC it will cost to get one GPU.   I think the GPUC should be in some way self-correcting because anyone who buys GPUC to get a GPU is going to check it against the value of BTC and their national currency. The volatility might be more connected to BTC volatility than manipulation of the GPUC market.

The only way I see extreme volatility is if there's a lot of dumping all at once or if the GPUC store is the only place where you can find, for example, 290x GPUs.

Honestly, if you believe anyone mines that coin to buy GPUs you are just naive.

Who mines it is planning to dump it as soon as the price is profitable enough. Some of the miners bet on people that are expected buy this coin to get GPUs, but really look at it: You get GPUs quicker and cheaper on big markets than here - especially outside of north america. As said before, the whole model is a flaw, and if the creators are aware of the flaw instead of being totally naive, a scam.

That's not true though. If I can get a GPU cheaper using GPUC than using $ then I'll use my GPUC for it. There's no reason for me to dump it on an exchange and convert it to $ just to buy a GPU that's more expensive.

>implying majority of miners want GPUs

Are you really trying to greentext on a forum ?

No, I am trying to ask who they think will buy all the GPUs and why the top miners, these with huge rigs (30+ mH on scrypt-n) mining, wouldn't dump them to get BTC instead of actually buying GPUs

Maybe because the reason they have 30MH's rig in the first place is that they have always reinvested profits back into there mining set up.

GPUC gives them an easier/cheaper way of doing it, so that next time they will have a 40MH's rig

Incorrect or no genesis block found.

Ideas?

Delete the old data from the previous incarnations of GPUcoin. Found under C > users . Appdata > roaming etc

Is that poster above still giving away GPU coins?

GWeoHTzah9By5hR1xCrydDa4ei5VLHug7f  Smiley

There is nothing in my appdata folder to delete.

I am having the same problem.

I was running the old GPUCoin wallet and could not get it to sync so downloaded the new one and am getting this problem.

As soon as you try to start the wallet an  appdata folder gpucoin is created. Are you looking in the right place?

type %appdata% in the start menu search bar click on Roaming an it should be there delete that folder and start the new gpucoin-qt again

There is nothing related to GPUCoin in my appdata folder, there is just a config file for another coin.  I have closed and re-ran GPUCoin wallet and it still does not generate one.

Does it matter that I am using Windows XP?

It shouldn't make any difference as far as I'm aware

Its a normal hashrate for a GTX660 with cudaminer 50khash/s qhen with scrypt I have 220khash/s?

This is scrypt-n not scrypt speeds are usuallu around 50% slower
149  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 10:51:56 AM
what the hell miners are doing, selling at price cannot cover electricity cost

I wouldnt be suprised, if the IPO-holders and the premine is already getting dumped.

IPO haven't received there coin yet.

The Dev has 75.000.000 coins and 12,000,000 coins have been mined so far

Volume on Atomic trade is around 300,000 coins that's buys and sells

Nobody is dumping apart from the idiots selling for less than it costs to mine, who probably don't even realize you will be able to buy GPU's with this coin in a couple of weeks hopefully

I've tried to send my GPUCoin address to get my share from investment, but all emails are returned with this kind of error message (worked 1 week ago):

"ipo@gpucoin.net":
domain has no valid mail exchangers

I sent mine a couple of hours ago worked fine
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 10:25:04 AM
Small miners stop mining I think!!! Huge GPUs coin selling lowest price ...30 satoshi/coin and can lower... no way to dig anymore...

cmon. there are no huge and small.
there are devs sitting at bambillion of coins trying to dump at least something before ships sunks entirely

What are you going on about? If you don't like this coin or the idea go mine something else simple
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 10:02:10 AM
Hmmm.....approx 1500 coins mined since block 2600....going to be a little while before I can buy a GPU I think hehe.

On a different note, anyone can tell me about Hardware Errors with vert miner? I had to lower my intensity to 11 to get rid of them, which tanked my hash rate by 30%.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing, as I am not really sure what a hardware error is...any advice on that's appreciated.

Rit.

hardware errors should be 0 your just wasting power if you have them
153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin on: March 10, 2014, 07:06:45 AM
Ok so this is cool, Ive been looking for something else to mine other than boring litecoin

2 Questions for the forum and the Dev

What exchanges is this on currently?
Whats the reward per block

May as well chuck in a final question...

What about Gridseed?Huh Is this a threat to this coin or should we be trading GPU coins for Gridseed in a year?

Reading the OP is always a good idea before you start mining any new coin Grin

Not sure about your last question. Unless you can buy GPU's directly with gridseed I wouldn't think so
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Block 2600 ETA 22:00 EST on: March 09, 2014, 10:39:51 PM
I don't know if it is correct:

according to my stat:

I make 3.688 per GPU/day and 60 USD/day.

3.688 x 30 = 110 GPU per month

110 x 60 = 660 per month

In about 5 hours you will be making a lot more than 3.6 GPU a day. I'm not sure how many times it has to be posted, but once we get to block 2600 the rewards per block go up from 1 to 20000

Ignore the USD a day that is left over from litecoin mining or something similar and isn't related to GPUC
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Block 2600 ETA 19:00 EST on: March 09, 2014, 05:46:37 PM
Someone looking for settings for 7870 earlier this is what I use and I get about 171 k/hash per card. Mine are the 7870xt not sure how much difference that makes.

core 840 mem 1500 using afterburner

vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://gpu.hashfever.com:3262 -u xxxx.xxxx -p xxxxx -I 12 -g 2 -w 512 --thread-concurrency 4096

156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Block 2600 ETA 19:00 EST on: March 09, 2014, 12:56:49 PM
OK, so you have 2 cards. You'll need to mod your bat file to include settings for both, something like:

Code:
vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o (pool info)  -I 20,20 -w 256,256 --lookup-gap 2,2 --thread-concurrency 8193,8193 --gpu-memclock 1500,1500 --gpu-engine 1000,1000 --gpu-powertune +20,+20

PLEASE don't use that one as-is - I pulled it as an example from a reddit thread, and it probably won't match your card (although it might). You can see that the values are seperated by commas, one setting for each card. I only have 1 GPU myself, so I am no expert, but been reading up in anticipation of my second one arriving later this month.

Rit.

You only need to have different settings for multiple cards if they are different GPU e.g 290x and 280x

mine both work fine from the example .bat file I posted
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Block 2600 ETA 19:00 EST on: March 09, 2014, 12:47:16 PM
The ADL does not match OpenCL devices is basically telling you there's more than one OpenCL device in your machine, and the bat file is not correct for them. What is your setup exactly?

I have two Radeon r9 290x. 6Gb of ram. And I'm controlling it through remote desktop from my other computer. I mean, I don't know what else to add.

Have you tried the .bat file I posted on previous page?

6gb of RAM is plenty mine only use 1.5gb of RAM total according to task manager
158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Block 2600 ETA 19:00 EST on: March 09, 2014, 12:40:49 PM
Example bat file for 290x this gets me about 400k/hash per card

vertminer.exe --scrypt-vert -o stratum+tcp://gpu.hashfever.com:3262 -u xxxxxxxxx.xxxxx -p xxxxxxxxx -g1 -w 512 -I 19 --thread-concurrency 24500
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [GPUC] GPU Coin | Block 2600 ETA Sunday 13:00 EST on: March 09, 2014, 09:40:48 AM
Wait what? Has mining already started for this coin? All the pools show active hashing, but I thought the release was later today???

First 2600 blocks are only worth 1 coin so you haven't missed much
