At what freq would you need to start tweaking the voltage up?

The stock voltage should get you to or atleast close to 600Mhz. Watch your hashrate as you ramp up and your base should be  0.228 * MHz but leave room for error at higher frequencies. I usually estimate around 95% return, so at 600Mhz, you should see around 130 Gh/s. I know Sidehack likes to see 99.5% return, but that does require a little tweaking, millimeter turns of the adjustment pot, and test for days before another adjustment.

I just got my Newpac up and running. Simple setup, especially since this is my first time. I'm doing an average of 40 Gh/s set at 175.00 MHz with a fan on it. My USB hub arrives tomorrow and I plan to buy three more on ebay plus another fan. Here's a pic of my stats:

Looks the dogs danglies. Ill take one please! I’m in the UK though so if you prefer I purchased through a third party (assuming they stock them) like I did with the Newpacs thats absolutely fine  Smiley

We will be stocking them in the next few days, available individually and paired with a power brick.

Updated the list. I have tried a different pc which is the remnants of a mining rig and still the same issue even a single stick on each usb port. I can try a different version of cgminer but unfortunately ant chane the fact its windoze or usb 3 as I only have usb 3 ports on both pc’s. The hub is usb 2 with a usb2 cable but onviously that has had no effect.

one of my issues I found with every one of my rigs is the Intel based board has the Intel USB 3.0 bug that was causing issues and I had the same problem, it only had 3.0 USB ports. I ended up setting up an old AMD rig to get around it.

i know this sounds odd, but give the miner a minute to rest. if they overheated, letting them "rest" for an hour unplugged usually helps. If thats the case, please see what you can do to add a little cooling. you may want to run at 75MHz temporally too, until you can get some cooling on them.

IF you purchased your miners from our store, contact me over DM or email and I'll make sure your taken care of.

Also, i just finished fan stand templates for 80mm and 120mm fan mounts. uploaded to the thingiverse,

I just got my Newpac today. Seeing a lot of HW errors even at 100MHz. Could this be due to a dodgy hub?

Like sidehack said, if your getting a good hashrate, the HW errors are unimportant. If your running at 100MHz, you should be seeing around 22.8 GH/s.

If thats not the case, it could be an issue with power from the hub, try plugging directly into the USB port on the back of the PC for direct power from the motherboard. The other thing that tends to cause excessive HW errors is heat, you can try pointing a simple fan at it to help dissipate the heat a little. If neither one of those two things fixes your issues, let me know, there are a few other things but 99% of the time its those first two.

3D printing I wonder what we have access to? I think makerbot? They any good 419?

Makerbots are good, just not cheap. I wouldnt buy one, but if you have access to one through a school, take advantage of that.

If enough people need it, I can print them (for a small fee, maybe $3 + shipping?) and mail them out.

looking good, now i just need to get a 3d printer.

check out the Creality3D Ender 3, its what I run, its got a good size build platform and the price was very reasonable.

thingiverse 3d model uploaded,

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3270261

it is a work in progress. bear that in mind.

I also have the 70mm fans, I'll post those to our website tomorrow. nice little USB connector for power (see previous post)

I've looking at cheap tablet stand to support the fan above but this might be interesting to play with. I'm using two 140mm fan now. one above and one from the side.

my desktop is modular with bays. I've been thinking of trying to set a hub inside a bay with two fans from and back since the newpacs for me have have close to zero issues or "zombies". Sidehacks hub has a six pin and might try to find a way to use a sata cable if that possible. Or maybe just a pipe dream.

1) I can model out a hold for 140mm if you like, the design is very modular
2) that would be a cool idea, check out the power cables from GPU miner risers, they are a sata to 6pin conversion cable but a direct draw from the power supply over 6 a PCIe power cable would be preferable.

If anyone's interested, I'm finalizing a 3D printed frame for dual 70mm fans. its a direct download push over the hub and will fit the SiPolar A300 and the new hub SideHack is finishing. Ill post it to thingiverse.com shortly, just working out a connector to make the legs removable.

Ubuntu is a good "im learning" linux distro. It comes preloaded with most drivers you'll ever need and can usually run out of the box on most systems, old or new.

if you take the time to download and burn it, you can actually run Ubuntu on a "Live CD", meaning it starts and boots completely into linux from the cd, no need to wipe the hard drive.

I wouldn't rule out the computer hardware as the issue either though. My Main desktop is an old AMD A10 and it works amazing for mining, the same hub/sticks on my ASUS Intel i5 craps out as soon as i add a second stick to the hub. Just my 2 cents.
154  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: December 04, 2018, 01:36:56 PM
No I just have the barrel connector that came with it. It's loose at the part where it connects to the pod.

I'm interested in the pin connector. Looks like more work and cost but may be better for my last little guy.  I ordered a few and he's the last one standing. I upgraded the fans, so maybe a power supply is next. You have or know of a tutorial for how to set that up?

I'm also going to start a setup with a bunch of newpacs. My goal would be getting them and the terminus running off a single pi.

Just watch out for the pi USB bandwidth. They can only support a limited number of miners running at a time, ASIC Boost will help greatly with that, but that's even a little buggy still. (you can read more about that in the newpac support fourms)

What RockMoney says is correct, the powersupply from parrellels is a great deal, thats lower than even my costs.  But if your running on one of our 7A power bricks, they are solid. We imported them in from China specifically for GekkoScience products and they went through rigorous testing before they were approved, yes even by SideHack.

Long story short, I was asking because if it was one of ours, we have full warranties on all our products and would be happy to replace it for you at no cost.

New issue cropped up on my pod - anyone have advice?

I am using the brick power supply and the connecter gets loose. Unless it sits just right the unit turns off. It happens about once or twice a week and I have to jiggle the connector to get it to work. Any way to tighten that up?

Hey MinerBobbert, is it the Terminus or the Brick that is having issues?
158  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: November 26, 2018, 11:38:37 PM
the heat sink is
1" wide (same as the PCB),
1 9/16" long
1/2" tall
there is a slight gap between the heatsink and the PCB (thickness of chips) about 1/32" of an inch.

the PCB (without the USB port)
1" wide
3 1/8" long
1/16" tall

the USB port is
5/8" long
and usb port sized for length and width Smiley

We've got some nice 7Amp power bricks that work great with the new hub. Same ones we sourced for the Terminus pods.

I have a folder for my windows mining it is on desktop I call it virus free.  I exclude it from windows defender.

in that folder I have cgminer folder I exclude it from windows defender.

I copy that set of nested folders  to   a usb stick. for  backup

I then will do   a new folder call it  new cgminer  put it in  the desktop set of folders.

So

{virus free folder} -----( cgminer folder + new cgminer folder)

I then test both versions against each other for a day

Lastly I make a new usb stick  with  the new and older folders for backup

Ya, unfortunately most AV really despises cgminer. I mean, what could be wrong about connecting to the internet over a uncommon port, scanning your USB connections every 5 seconds and processing massive amounts of cryptography.  Shocked Grin
