I'm looking at pitching/starting a few ideas to raise NXT awareness. One is simply a third-party information site to be used as a kind of basic introduction, a bit like www.bitcoinminer.net but for NXT. Thoughts on how to monetise such a site (since it wouldn't be mine so would need revenue to make it worthwhile to create, and forging means there isn't the same kind of mining industry around NXT)? Isn't someone working on a BannerCoin, or something like that, to monetize pageview time? See here for a start. I have no idea how far along this is. https://nxtforum.org/nxtventures/t-e-a-m-team-everybody-a-millionaire-gui-thread/msg24276/#msg24276

NXT seems to be losing some steam, what's on the agenda in the next few business days to move things along?
The London PayExpo Wednesday and Thursday should provide some action. https://nxtforum.org/payexpo-(london-june-11-12-2014)/Also, James is back from his break, and I'm sure he'll be providing some excitement.

I dont mean to be againt nxt, but just dont quite get it how that POS system will under terms of monetary system.
The devs plan to have NXTs provide backing for other currencies issued against NXTs, this feature is called Monetary System. This takes care of the big stakeholders not spending NXTs, because, say, you only have 100 000 NXTs, you can 'lock' them to create your own currency and use it as long as those 100 000 NXTs are 'locked' and back your new currency. You can put that new currency you issued backed by your 100 000 NXTs into the economy. After that that currency may or may not appreciate against NXTs, depending on how well you manage it. Big holders not doing anything with their NXTs can sit on them all they want. You can make the NXT world go around even with a relatively small amount of NXTs by making your stash work, by proving loans if you want in that currency you issued, by paying your employees, you can essentially be a small bank and issue your own banknotes just like every small bank in US in the 19th century issued their own, there were hundreds of banks with their own banknotes at that time. At least that's what the devs have in their mind, let's wait for them to deliver, they say the MS is already being tested. Is it also possible to issue Assets in your proprietary, bank currency? And if so, would this mitigate the zero-sum game that we seem to be facing regarding fixed asset prices? See here: For example a company that charges a percentage of business as fees in nxt should grow right along with nxt
Just if the business is backed up by nxt? Otherwise the amount of nxt dividends will get smaller with a higher price for every nxt and the dividends would be shrinking with nxt growing. A business that is nxt based will grow with nxt Yes, but not 1 to 1. If a business is successful competition arises and eats away profit margins. Even if you have your earnings and profits in nxt, it is very hard to keep the same volume and profit if nxt tenfolds or hunderfolds in fiat value. Well if nxt hundredfolds, assets underperforming nxt will be a small concern With assets tending to trade opposite of nxt price it seems to offer a natural hedge that keeps overall portfolio value less volatile Anyway i am used to beating the odds and i intend to do this Let us meet here in one year and see who is right James

<snip quotes>
I think most of them will surely regret it. They are playing pump and dump with the wrong coin.
Remember we have not even launched yet and NEM already seems one of the most promising project.
Just wait a bit and you'll see what I mean.

To those posting bids on the Asset Exchange for sharkfund0: 10'000 =/= 10.000
sharkfund0 is for sale at the price of 10-thousand NXT per unit.

overnight, then I will only sell to reduce the loss! There ought to be a warning, if the price drops below 0.000095 BTC eg current!
Do you understand what I mean?
There must be someone who has the same problem, but is in a different time zone?
The volume is lower than at Bter, but Poloniex has stop-limit orders.

I have gone through some of the proposals and they are very interesting indeed. However, I personally feel that we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves at this point of time. Most of these ideas are quite elaborate and will take quite a bit of resources to successfully fund and materialize. And then say for a system that is "audit" based you will need competent staff to actually carry out a proper audit on an ongoing basis.
Instead, I feel that what we need now is perhaps something more straight forward and simple. In my mind a system like say.. Amazon's user Feedback system would suffice (for now) and would allow users to post feedback and cumulative score can be maintain. While it will be possible to "game" the system it will still suffice as a source of information for investors.. With a little bit tweaking the scores can be tied to reviewers reputation
Depending on how things pan out, I might be incorporating an asset based user rating system into Blockscan if there a need for such a system..
Cheers
+1 Much of the conversation on that topic was getting very detailed, I agree. It will be important, though, to think ahead so that the system builds incentives in. We can think about how those incentives for participation will build support systems or roles, like the Auditor role. Also, it is necessary to generate some use cases so that we have a sense for the broad range of asset types that a trust system will want to rate. What is most important at this point is to begin somewhere with the appropriate "objects." For example, the primary object is probably the asset issuer, and any assets that come from that issuer are derivative objects. In other words, the reputation should be tied to the asset issuer primarily, and derivatively to the assets themselves. This is how eBay and Amazon work, as you point out.

What the fuck is MEAT and CAKE ?
Why is there only 2 assets in XCP ?
Anybody can create assets, there is no central authority to restrict the words you are allowed. These were likely created for testing the creation, issuance and dividend payment portions of counterparty. As you can see from a trivial check here http://blockscan.com/asset.aspx or on the counterwallet client there are a lot more than 2 assets. With so many assets... somebody needs to come up with something like a rating agency! Hmmmm.... what about a distributed decentralized rating component? Here's a very interesting proposal for just that. https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,220.0.html

We have already heard about Qora. Thank you very much. Nxt will be #2 ahead of Litecoin in six months. Good luck chasing. And BXNect has nothing to do with Qora, but even if he did who cares? BCNext isn't the one who brought Nxt to #3. Thank you, Mr. Jam, for stopping by. I think I will sell all of my Nxt now and buy Qora. By the way, does this sound like BCNext? <snip> It sucks that things like that appear now and not during the beta. If you are fast you can indeed click the send button multiple times before it shows the dialog. All those transactions are valid btw and not double spended.
Currently I am working on the database issues which seems to be the cause of most of the problems right now.
Also, Re: the lack of code to review, you guys must love surprises.

Version 7 fix is now available!
In the early days of Nxt, there was at least instance where someone modified the Nxt binaries to transmit the passphrase to their own website, uploaded the modified binaries to a download site, and persuaded some people to use this. At least 3-4 people lost their coins because of this. As mega.co.nz links don't work for everyone (e.g. servers using curl/wget), direct download mirror links will be offered, and we need a way to verify these. The Nxt team put in a couple of measures to stop this, which I think work well: - Every download has a SHA256 hash - Every important message from the developer (especially those which include a download URL) is signed - The first post links to the signed post with the download link Could you please do something similar? There were four of us that lost Nxt as a result. I lost 147k Nxt. And it became the biggest distraction for Nxt for the next several weeks. Avoid the pain and the bad press - follow notsoshifty's suggestions, please.

0.00008 NXT/BTC levels again. We've been here so many times. Is it different this time? Looking at the development, I think yes.
More like almost 0.00009 Emule must be posting somewhere right now that Nxt is doomed. That's why we see the green candlesticks.

That AE of NEM tokens with '1' on your account is heaven for daytrading Any prospects on the price? I'd say sell now a bit because once 2800 shareholders who paid 0-50$/stake find out their investment is worth 1500$, they'll sell sell sell whatever the future may be. Sell now, buy in later (worked so far for one day) But aint that high price at this point means that expectations are way higher, when NEM actually will be launched. And tokens are limited for 1000 shareholders. I wouldnt be surprised if the prices go 2-3x after aplha launched. given NEM's grate community and dev team, NEM deserves higher price! Still want to trade on counter party platform ? send me a request but I need 100 request to make a market though. Consider this a request. I love Counterparty. Nothing wrong with NXT AE, but I want to give Counterparty a little love, too.

Dont talk to much shit about Dgex guYs, Dgex was the 1st Exchange from a Community Member which has been only created for the Community itself, the 1st Exchange which has supported NXT to the road of success, you should respekt and honor that.
Yes Dgex maybe looks a little bit oldschool but you have everytime support from the creator of Dgex and you will never loose your NXT, it is and will be the honest NXT Exchange. Dgex will implementate some other 2.0 Coins in the next view weeks. And after a Facelift Dgex will be your 1st 2.0 Exchange only. You should support and believe in Dgex instead of make fun.
+1 Amen

I would suggest Dgex, the site looks terrible, but the operator is trustful and you will get your Nxt quicker than with Crypsy. http://dgex.com/index.htm?2254 (ref. link) Ugliest site on the net. +1000000 I had some money there, but it was so many delays with withdraw, many other upsetting things... that after all I got all my money from there, step by step-this is VERY HARD JOB TO TAKE YOUR MONEY BACK FROM dgex.comNow, I do not want to hear anything about this bad smelling site... Cheers You are retarded, DGEX is atm the best exchange for NXT out there. The design is crap but will be changed very soon. I bought over 100k NXT already, everything went fine at any time. And Graviton (the owner/operator of DGEX) is honest. Some may take issue with the high cost of withdrawals, and sometimes things don't work as quickly as we would like. But the man behind DGEX has integrity and is working hard to make things work well.
