141  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Qt, bitcoind testing requested! You can help. on: December 07, 2012, 09:05:54 AM
The latest bleeding-edge code is always in the GitHub master branch: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/

That doesn't help. What is the exact git command to try the 0.8 version? You assume I know git. I don't.

If you have git already installed, just type:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin.git
142  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bets of Bitcoin - bet deadline changed subsequently on: November 29, 2012, 12:51:43 AM
Yeah, my bet got refunded. Sucks, would have been an easy win and I hadn't even seen the post in bfl forums.
It was obvious that they would not ship in november  Roll Eyes

Post in the bfl forums: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/bfl-forum-miscellaneous/437-asic-update-26-november-2012-a.html
That post makes it 100% clear that shipping will be delayed, that's why the deadline was changed I think.
143  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: Bitcoin-Webseite ohne Virtuellen Server? on: November 26, 2012, 11:22:28 PM

144  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Buying full tilt poker cash or Pokerstars(US) on: November 25, 2012, 11:15:10 PM
Hey,

are you still looking? I have Pokerstars USD, but also have a FullTilt account and now that they have
an intersite transfer option, I could move some over to FullTilt. (but don't know how long that would take them) Cool
145  Economy / Services / Re: PAY FOR INFORMATION - 600 BTC REWARD FOR IDENTITY OF HACKER on: November 22, 2012, 12:18:06 AM
i had to run the teamviewer to access my data / computer network from outside

It could also be that the computer you used to access your teamviewer connection got compromised
and the thief got in that way, I would take a close look at the computer you used for remote access.

Maybe its time that we setup some honeypots for bitcoin malware... Huh
146  Local / Suche / Re: Wo Bitcoins mit Ukash kaufen on: November 10, 2012, 12:36:34 AM
Hallo,

hier: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins sind ein paar aufgelistet mit ukash.

https://bitcoinnordic.com/
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/AnonXchange
http://mercabit.eu/
https://www.virwox.com/

ansonsten könnte man auch auf bitcoin otc versuchen: http://bitcoin-otc.com/
Gebühren sind aber scheinbar recht hoch mit ukash...

147  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: ISP shut down my Intenet! on: November 08, 2012, 11:16:11 PM
If you are just mining on a pool this should not cause irc traffic. Mining also does not use a lot of bandwith.
My 1 GH/s was like 2kb/s up/down, thats not much. Option 2 sounds like a solid plan imho.
148  Economy / Marketplace / Re: WTB 2011 casascius physical bitcoin (series 1) on: November 07, 2012, 02:57:26 AM

150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hi, I've installed bitcoin client on Ubuntu! What now?? on: October 30, 2012, 05:04:29 PM
Ok, so I installed it again and restarted the syncing as you know.

about half hour in to it , it stops and says : "WARNING: Displayed transactions may not be correct!  You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade."

Any ideas??

You can check $HOME/.bitcoin/debug.log to see if something weird is going on.
Maybe you are just connected to some nodes that are not fully updated with the rest of the network,
you could try to connect to a hubnode ( http://blockchain.info/hub-nodes ) until you are fully synced.

To do that you can launch bitcoin-qt from the commandline like this:
Code:
bitcoin-qt -connect=5.9.24.81
151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: "A fault has been detected on GPU 0" Help me, Plz on: October 29, 2012, 06:01:41 AM
If it was running fine until now it could be a hardware problem...
Sounds stupid, but have you tried to turn it off and on again  Roll Eyes
152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC price going down on: October 29, 2012, 05:55:57 AM
Is anyone able to link me to relevant information on ASIC release? This is the first I've heard of it

Here is a table which lists the different vendors, but everything is preorder right now. No one has one yet.
But I think ASIC is a good thing. Look how much heat a GPU gives off, those ASICs are chips specialized for mining and are much more efficient.

153  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Possible to create an automatic sell order at current market value on Mt. Gox? on: October 28, 2012, 02:34:50 AM
A good idea would be to test that with a small amount first.
Then you see if it sells at current market price  Grin
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Strange activity on btc-e on: October 27, 2012, 02:20:37 AM
btc-e is weird. The last time it is always trading well below mtgox,
for example right now price there is 9.35 USD / BTC.

I don't understand  Huh
155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What sites sell stuff using Bitcoins? on: October 27, 2012, 02:02:08 AM

Could be that this list is even incomplete, but most are probably listed there.

157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Not able to send and recieve BTC on: October 25, 2012, 04:30:27 AM
Hmm do you get an error message or what?
Instawallet works great for me, does it say the full amount as available in the field
where you input the amount to send?  Huh
158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Failing at installing Bitcoin on USB linux: "Disk space is low" - crashing on: October 24, 2012, 07:58:54 AM

If you can access 32gb it should work... but 4gb total is not enough:
Code:
~/.bitcoin$ du -hs .
4,0G    .

Maybe it would be good to checkout alternative clients if you run from usb, multibit ( http://multibit.org/ ) or electrum ( http://electrum.ecdsa.org/ ) maybe.
159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cant Get Damn Wallet To Download on: October 23, 2012, 10:29:08 PM
Probably blkindex.dat, it is located in the datadir, depending on your Operating System:
Quote
  • Windows     %APPDATA%\Bitcoin\
    (XP) C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Bitcoin\
    (Vista, 7) C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\
  • Linux    $HOME/.bitcoin/
    /home/username/.bitcoin/
  • Mac OSX    $HOME/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/
    /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/

But if you delete blkindex.dat, it will start to download the blockchain again. So that could take a long time...
If you don't have bitcoins in the client yet, you could give multibit a try. It still needs to download blockchain data but
should be much faster.
