Yes, read here: https://electrum.org/tutorials.html#offline-mpk

How does one go about transferring their ASICMINER shares to a new holder?  I PM'd friedcat, but I didn't know where else to start.

Try via email, his forum account was not online since 28th november.
Look here: https://www.havelockinvestments.com/fund.php?symbol=AM1 for his gmail address (under: how to import direct shares).
43  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [NOW AVAILABLE] btchip : Bitcoin Hardware Wallet in a USB smartcard on: December 04, 2014, 07:18:57 AM
There shouldn't be an issue to use those funds, so I'm afraid the answer lies probably in the middle with a BTChip Python bug dealing with long input scripts (around here) . I'll test that, might take a few days due to long trips.

Ok sounds good. No hurry, take your time  Cool

This should have been addressed in my latest updates. Can you pull btchip-python and retest ?

Sorry have just seen your post now, can confirm, seems to work fine! Thank you very much Smiley

Hello,

I did a withdraw yesterday and checked it on blockchain.info,
it looks like you are reusing addresses, maybe not so great see: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address_reuse

Also ETA on when we will be able to sell and not only buy? I don't like being locked in Smiley

If this would be my site I would add features like autopayouts and an api where you can query
hashrate so you can display it on your smartphone or whatever, most mining pools have this too.

Hello,

I have a hw.1 and use it with electrum, it works fine overall,
but now I have an address where I can't send anything from.

It is this one: 1Jmv13FgTW1xeGGvATt2EP142efBq473bA
The coins on this address came from a greenaddress wallet (address starts with 3)
I've seen something about p2sh todo in the btchip plugin, not sure if relevant
because  I am not really a programmer, but maybe that could be the problem?
If this is a btchip limitation it would suck, or is it an electrum bug?

I added a "print tx" at the point where it fails and the transaction looks ok to me,
I can load it with electrum and look at it, but it is obv unsigned Smiley

Selecting send from other addresses works fine so it is no big deal,
but if this is a bug it would be good if it could be fixed Wink

Code:
File "/home/user/electrum-git/electrum/gui/qt/util.py", line 37, in run
    self.result = self.run_task()
  File "/home/user/electrum-git/electrum/gui/qt/main_window.py", line 1156, in sign_thread
    self.wallet.sign_transaction(tx, password)
  File "/home/user/electrum-git/electrum/plugins/btchipwallet.py", line 330, in sign_transaction
    raise BaseException(tx.error)
BaseException: byte must be in range(0, 256)

48  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Core 0.9.2rc1 released on: June 05, 2014, 03:48:42 AM
Not sure if this is done on purpose, but the src tarball inside this download:
https://bitcoin.org/bin/0.9.2/test/bitcoin-0.9.2rc1-linux.tar.gz

is missing a lot of stuff from the contrib directory (manpages for example), compared
to this one: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/archive/v0.9.2rc1.tar.gz
49  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can a namecoin address point to a TOR hidden service? on: March 25, 2014, 09:12:56 PM
Looks like it is possible: http://dot-bit.org/Namespace%3aDomain_names_v2.0#Value_field
But tor would also need a way to somehow resolve the .bit domain (maybe a browser plugin for the tor bundle).
50  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: computer has 512mb ram. How to transfer btc to another wallet? on: March 19, 2014, 12:30:34 AM
https://github.com/jim618/multibit/wiki/Export%20and%20limited%20import%20of%20private%20keys

having a slight hard time understanding  this format if this is the format i need to save my armory private keys on to import to my multibit wallet.

not 100% sure, but I think you need it in this format, first the private key then the utc date, in one line.

Example (don't import this one, its the brainwallet privatekey from: correct horse battery staple and lol):
Code:
5KJvsngHeMpm884wtkJNzQGaCErckhHJBGFsvd3VyK5qMZXj3hS 2011-12-31T16:42:00Z
5HsQCyqCw61VPQ9tN4ttasHW3AH6cJ6tJdneAXR8gUJ2MWyxxpA 2011-12-31T16:42:00Z

I guess the date is used to scan the blockchain from this point, so just set some time before
the address received the first coins.

Note: If your private keys are "compressed" they are shorter and don't start with 5, but it should still work the same.

Maybe not enough power on the usb hub, try with only 5 or so and see if it gets better.

54  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitaddress.org legit? on: February 18, 2014, 12:04:20 AM
bitaddress is legit, but download the site html to an usb stick and
then create the wallets on offline system (live cd or whatever)
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Disappearing, then reappearing coins on: February 08, 2014, 03:45:26 AM
Read about change addresses:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change

bitcoin-qt creates one with every transaction.
I would import the wallet into https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet
and from there send the coins to the new wallet.
56  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitPay Invoice Expired - Help on: January 27, 2014, 08:37:53 PM

1. You need to pay attention to detail, bitpay requested 0.3201 but somehow received
only 0.3200 (maybe btc-e substracted the fee from the amount you sent?)

and

2. Don't use exchanges as wallets, often they don't sent out your coins in realtime,
sometimes it may take a few minutes, maybe someone has to go get the coins from
coldstorage or they bundle multiple withdrawals.
Withdraw coins to your own wallet and then spent them from there, that way you have
more control.

Now you need to contact bitpay to get help. If the button does not work send them an email.

58  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: xhost: unable to open display ":0" Paying .2 BTC to whoever can help me. on: January 18, 2014, 10:54:26 PM
I always did this as normal user who is logged into X, not as root...

but maybe try:

Code:
xauth merge /home/user_who_is_logged_into_Xorg/.Xauthority

and then try aticonfig again. Also if you are already root you don't need sudo  Wink
