141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 25, 2018, 11:12:51 PM
although it is a good news for cryptocurrency user, I think I won't try this because it still better if I use fiat to buy a coffee in the Starbucks and besides that, I think I will buy in the other coffee shop because, for me, Starbucks is expensive and compare with the other coffee shop, I think the taste is the same with Starbucks. I think if there a big mall that accepting cryptocurrency as their payment, then it will be good enough for us so we can buy our daily needs using cryptocurrency for the payment.

Well coffee at Starbucks was just the example for the YouTube video, Zeex have at least another 350 big brand options that you will be able to use to buy products or services with crypto.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 25, 2018, 11:09:57 PM
it's really real and it's been proven to buy a cup of coffee with ETH it's to a very extraordinary masters but in my country there is nothing like it in starbucks
I do not think buy a cup of coffee with ETH. Because if we buy a cup of coffee we will have to transfer ETH to Starbucks' wallet. And at the expense of transferring money, I think we would lose a lot of money if we drink coffee every day

You should read the initial post again. You would use the Zeex app to buy your coffee and also a wide range of other brands. There are no fees and you won't be changing your crypto to fiat.

143  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 01:52:38 PM
Forgive me but I fail to see how this promotes the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies.
What Zeex does, if I understand it correctly, is help you convert your coins into a gift card,
which you can then use to buy coffee. It's more or less the same as converting your coins into fiat money
in order to buy coffee. If Starbucks really wanted to help promoting crypto, it could accept direct payments in crypto.
Earlier this years one of the Starbucks' CEOs said that he didn't  believe in Bitcoin.
That's enough of a hint to me as to what their position is.

Very well said mate. It is not the bitcoin itself that are accepted because if it so then we don’t need to use gift card just to buy a cup of coffee or a frappes from starbucks. Same as paying bills, in my country we have this local wallet that we can use to pay bills but we still need to convert our bitcoins into cash before we can make a transactions. I guess its hard yet to adapt a currency that are volatile and that in the near future many establishments like shops, restaurants and etc that will accepts cryptocurrencies itself as payments.

Personally, I'd be happy to use an app where you can exchange your crypto for products or services, its 3 taps without any converting to fiat or any fees. I'm not sure I understand the problem that anyone would have with it?? For instance, I can sit in Starbucks while trading and use my profits to buy coffee and maybe order on Amazon at the same time in a matter of minutes..I'd say that this is pretty game changing even if you are using gift cards as an intermediary to do this.

It's a good news to hear. "Cryptocurrencies Accepted" signs in every Starbucks can bring more people to cryptocurrencies world.

I'm not sure signs will be up as this is a unique way of buying your coffee with crypto check out the video to understand the concept  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXnBEor6440&t=1s
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 01:12:18 PM
Is this true, if yes this is interesting news to follow.
I would definitely support this project if this is true, starbucks is a great company that is famous all over the world.

If you watch the video you will see how it is done using the Zeex App https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXnBEor6440&t=1s
146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 11:19:51 AM
I thought that is going to be the direct from the Starbucks but looks like this is middle way around it. Crypt projects are getting better at what we are missing in the filed really and that is good thing to know this ICO has started something bigger. However we really need technology that can focus more on direct payments with the merchandise around the globe. The same way as we see it for the different visa and MasterCard companies or even banking system. That would be more revolutionary mate and nothing else. But all the best for them too as it is giving us temporary way to spend our cyrptos.

Agreed, mass adoption by the retail giants would be the perfect solution but I don't see that happening soon. The great thing about Zeex is that it is so simple to use and any gift card supplier can use the protocol so smaller businesses can also get involved in crypto.
147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 10:38:33 AM
This is very good news for the whole sector. The growth of the cryptocurrency market will depend in the coming months/years also on the diffusion and use of cryptocurrencies in everyday life, and I hope that more and more companies like Starbucks, allow their customers to use cryptocurrencies to buy products and services

You can see how easy it is using the app at Starbucks in this video

148  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 10:18:25 AM
That's a very amazing news for more positive issues of the cryptocurrency. We all know that Starbucks is one of the most popular industries in the world. If this becomes one of the industries that accept crypto, it means that many more industries support the presence of the crypto. Of course, this issues brings good thinking. Hopefully, this news is true by the official.

If you read the first post you will see how it is done, it will be through an App, the medium used to buy your Starbucks will be through gift cards using crypto to pay with no fees [other than the gift card] or having to change to fiat. Its a 3 tap process, so really easy

Watch the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXnBEor6440&t=1s

After KFC for this time starbucks also receive bitcoin payment, but very in pity only applies in certain countries. Not all countries can accept bitcoin as payment.

Zeex plans to be a Global platform eventually they already have a partnership with a Russian gift card supplier and plan on building relationships with worldwide brands.
150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 09:50:42 AM
I know about the zeex. But they are still not in the fully operational mode yet. They are also having services where they are going to list the amazon, eBay and other shopping sites for which you will get the gift cards. This is perfect opportunity for us to use the crypto currency that we hold in the way we want. Whether or not it will work 100% but the project does look good to me and will receive huge response from the community that is for sure.

Wondering how they will collaborate with all the merchandise world wide to give us the crypto to real world certificates. The project insights should be studied for this one.

Well the beauty of the project is that they will be collaborating with existing gift card suppliers that already have relationships with big retail brands.
151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 09:36:34 AM
So your point would be not to use crypto at all? This is a solution for not having to convert back to fiat and not having to pay fees.
No my point is quite the contrary. Why don't they implement a solution where you and I can buy directly with crypto, without any sort of intermediary? What's preventing them to do so?

Good questions and I think eventually if and when the market finally wakes up to this they will, I guess what's preventing them is the current volatility and like all the other big companies they are waiting for others to take the first steps. While Zeex isn't a perfect solution it is providing an easy way to encourage us crypto holders to use our holdings within the cryptoverse  Cool to pay for services and products.
Yes, the usual excuse is volatility. It would be a risky move for a company of that size. But without risk there is no reward. Imagine what kind of popularity and media exposure would such a step imply. The first coffeehouse chain to except direct bitcoin payments. Hell, the fifth most admired company worldwide accepting direct bitcoin payments.
I think this is just a gimmick. No one mall will accept crypto currencies with uncertain prices. This is a very risky behavior. For a company like Starbucks, it needs a stable profit.

You need to watch the video its using a fixed denomination gift card so that won't be an issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXnBEor6440&t=1s
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 09:32:23 AM

153  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 09:30:59 AM
In some cash-free countries, Starbucks has long been trying cashless payment methods, but the cryptocurrency is currently very unstable, and I can't imagine whether Starbucks can calculate its profit accurately after accepting the cryptocurrency.

This won't be an issue as you will buy a fixed denomination gift card for the retailer you are using.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 09:21:59 AM
the news is very encouraging ..
I can sit down while enjoying coffee and seeing the scenery around, without having to carry a small buck in the pocket.
The news is good indeed, but it is not the same with what the thread name says. To pay with cryptocurrencies one would still need to buy a gift card first and then buy other things with the help of this card. This means that cryptos are used indirectly and this distance doesn't allow them to be really considered as means of payment. This is a good project, but such solution can't be final. Moreover, I seem to find to proofs that Zeex actually has all those partners and deals (this info is only going from the zeex team, not from those big companies).

Yes true I named the thread so it got a bit more talk going  Smiley

It is an indirect method but it works and if you watched the video you will see how easy it was to do with 3 taps while he was in the line for a coffee.

Zeex has a partnership with their sister company Zeek. Zeek is a world leader in the gift card marketplace and has very strong existing relationships with the largest brands in the world.
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 09:10:37 AM
I think it's silly that people get excited because 'Starbucks is accepting Crypto'?
Who cares? The potential of crypto is far beyond buying coffee, and the future and big money won't be coming from people buying coffee!
There are very interesting blockchain-based projects, that might actually change global industries entirely.
Either crypto succeeds and is adopted everywhere, not one 'brandname' at a time, or it fails.

There's already been cases of companies adopting crypto payments, bitcoin payments specifically, and then removing it.
This is just marketing for Starbucks to a surge of customers.
Adopt crypto, and then every crypto holder suddenly needs a cup of coffee..

what a news, i cant wait especially for the apps. Lets hope it wont just apply in starbucks on the US only. But im pretty sure they will release it for every starbucks around the world, evenless in a country with a large cryptocurrency community. Blockchain now will go spread all around the world guys

Yes it will be worldwide but it's not just Starbucks tons of other brands as well

Buying gift cards with crypto? I honestly fail to see the importance of this.
If all that came from crypto is an alternative payment method, then we failed with one of the greatest technological inventions.

LOL so what do you see cryptocurrency as? Maybe 'currency' has a different definition where you come from but as far as I'm aware its a medium of exchange for goods and services. If you are discussing Blockchain then that is a different matter.

You're right about that, but what I'm talking about is how every time some company mentions adopting crypto as a payment method, everyone goes like "wow".
it's just the company gaining media attention, do you think people wouldn't buy coffee from Starbucks if they didn't take crypto?

What I'm saying is just that there's too much focus on individual companies adopting crypto, because that's not going to work out long term. Things like this post is basically just giving the company what they want, more media attention. They run a business and they are talking about crypto to get publicity, just as any other company talking about crypto in any way which leads to their stocks going up.
Crypto payments needs to become an important medium, based on aspects such as being trustless, cheap, fast, global, no central entity and so on, not because it just allows people to buy coffee with money they put in Coinbase, because what difference does it make then? do you want crypto because you can use it to buy coffee or because of what it stands for?

That's what I'm trying to say. Yes, certainly, there's nothing bad coming from Starbucks adding this, but I think this announcement receives too much focus, considering what it is.
They're doing it because they can possibly get more customers from it, and because it gives them publicity, which you can see in tons of other companies talking about crypto = company valuation goes up.
It's not about having some big companies accept crypto as a payment, there's plenty of mediums and gateways and alternatives that are faster, could be anonymous, could be cheaper (in transaction fees).
Crypto to me is either it's all in or nothing, or do you only see Bitcoin as something you can use to buy coffee with, nothing more? If so, I understand your excitement, but in my book, it's far more than one new currency, if anything, it's the new currency - and the reason for that isn't because of individual companies adding the payment method, the reason is the nature of crypto, which is made possible by the blockchain.

To summarize, [company name] adding crypto as a payment method is minor sidegoals in comparison to what we should hope to achieve, and it's not negative, but neither is it something that is worth talking about. They are doing it for their gain, why is that interesting? Do you doubt the potential of crypto, and therefore this is interesting?

Thanks for the reply you are a man after my own heart I do believe the crypto/blockchain has big things to offer. I just want to make it clear this was not an announcement from Starbucks, the guy from Zeex was just using Starbucks as an example to show how easy and quick the app was to use. He could have used the app online using an Amazon gift card or maybe gone to a store like Footlocker and use the app. I think using Starbucks was just an opportunity to demonstrate the app while the Zeex team were at Consensus in NYC as the coffee shop was just over the road from the conference.

Starbucks was just an example because that is the service that is used in the video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXnBEor6440&t=1s

There are other options such as Amazon and Xbox and at least another 350 brands as well
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Starbucks is accepting Crypto! on: May 23, 2018, 08:25:31 AM
Starbucks is accepting crypto-currencies...well sort of anyway, let me elaborate.

At the end of June, there will be a token sale for Zeex which is a platform for gift card suppliers to sell their cards for crypto and us crypto holders to finally get the chance to exchange our crypto for products and services without having to convert to fiat or pay fees. Using the Zeex App you will be able to buy gift cards from big name retailers such as Amazon, Xbox and yes, Starbucks in exchange for crypto with 3 taps of the app.

We've heard many of these new Blockchain startups make lofty claims before but they are often short on delivery not so with Zeex.

They already have partnerships with Zeek their Sister company that will provide them with access to over 350 big name brands. Recently they had another partnership with Russian gift card supplier Giftery and there are more in the pipeline.

But what is really impressive is that they will have the app ready to use shortly after the end of the token sale.

If you check out the video below you can actually see the app in action in a Starbucks coffee shop in New York..be prepared to be amazed!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXnBEor6440&t=1s

This is something interesting and i believe it will benefit crypto in many ways, additionally Starbucks is such a big giant corporation in the world with them joining the crypto crowd also crypto definitely have a bright future.

There are plenty of other brands to choose from once the Zeex Protocol goes live  https://www.zeex.me/
