Wow. People in this thread have really been giving it to Tao of late  +1 I have to say I have sympathy for Tao - one of the hardest working community members with bag loads of passion and yet he gets quite a few knocks for promoting the "wrong stuff". Live & let live  I think it comes down to competing visions of how darkcoin should be promoted. Tao is obviously a sincere and hardworking person and its uncomfortable to have to disagree with his vision, because he is obviously a nice person. Nonetheless, I personally have a very different vision of how we should represent darkcoin. I prefer very clean cut , somewhat serious messages aimed at adults. I get uncomfortable when high-profile people are being contacted in a willy-nilly carefree doge-like kinda way. I don't wish anything bad on him, don't exactly want him to go away, I just get uncomfortable sometimes with him representing drk and thus myself. |

I think this probably turns people off. It doesn't take long to figure it out, but it doesn't take long to give up either. I hope Otoh staying close to bitfinex helps facilitate us setting up base there. . . . All right then, let get this rolling !

Hello Guys, We have been needing a professional animated explanatory video about Darkcoin for a while. So I went ahead and made the commitment for a 90 seconds animated video with a company called www.myevideo.com. I have used their services in the past and they are great. I was able to get 600 USD discount on the regular package as a returning customer, so we are getting 3100.00 USD value for 2500.00 USD, as you can see on the attached pricing table.  I am really hoping we can crowd-source this from the community as I already made the commitment. Here is their youtube channel for examples of their work: https://www.youtube.com/user/MyeVideoChannel They will take care of: 1) Script 2) Voice Over 3) Story Board 4) Illustrations 5) Animations and Sound Effects. This in an invaluable opportunity to create a video that can go viral and that we can proudly feature on www.darkcoin.io, I will be working with Fernando on this, we will meet regularly with the production team to give them information and answer their questions. They are experts doing this so there is already a process in place. The first thing we need to do is respond a questionnaire that will help the production company get an idea of what we need. This is where everyone in the community can give their input and help. A clear and concise animation along the lines of the "What is Bitcoin?" video is exactly what Darkcoin needs Thanks guys, I had time to think about this and will definitely coordinate an animated explanatory video. I was going to wait till Monday to start a discussion on it. My main doubt is whether to do a video that explains Darkcoin by comparing it to Bitcoin and how is DRK different? Or, doing an explanatory video about Darkcoin without referring to BTC? Any thoughts? Let's do this! |

PSA These new walls at 0.012 are because I wouldn't mind accumulating a few more DRK at this price right now, I don't guarantee that they will stay here if and when I decide that I have been sold enough coins for the time being, but if I do move them back down then they will only revert to 0.01111 at the lowest and from there they will neither be lowered nor removed just as stated before, so that still remains the floor, the walls are just doing a little walkabout. They'll be there for at least eight hours anyway as I'm going afk soon, so feel free to sell in to them anyone who would like to do a little profit taking or what ever and I'll check back tomorrow to review the situation.  I have to say that I admire your timing on the market. You never go against the momentum of the market and you've been building amazing and well timed support for a long time now. Of course accumulation is nice but since you already have so many, the price going up isn't against your wishes either and when you put your walls at a certain level, it gives me the impression that I would be foolish to sell to you at that price. It's interesting...but tbh He's not going to get hardly any darkcoin since everyone assumes he'll keep the huge walls there permanently. He won't market buy so everyone has a false sense of security pumping the price. If the walls are put back at .111, the price will dump back down in an instant. As much as I love the project, I know the price action is highly dependent on the walls. If the walls change or are removed...the price will dump hard. Just being realistic here. Not completely disagreeing with you. He does buy at market though. And if say he got tired around $4, and just left the walls unmoved for two months, price would likely have moved way above that, no one would be able to even see the walls, so if he removed them there would be no effect. |

I think you are right, maybe is time to bite the bullet and produce a good animated introductory video. I use www.myevideo.com for my real life business. You can check examples of their work on the site. I paid 2,480.00 USD for a 2 minute video for my company and was very happy with the results. They take care of the script, voice, animation, everything, but we approve each stage before they move to the next stage. I just set an appointment with them for Monday, will get a quote and then see if there are others willing to contribute towards this. Please check the site so you get an idea of their work. I'll put atleast 30 drk towards it, if it looks like we are coming short I'll dig deeper. |

Respectfully, I think we should not use the Bitcoin Rush episode to send to high profile people. It was a fun project but is not really the most professional option. Maybe the Beyond Bitcoin broadcast would be better. Edit: Also, Evan's presentation on the Virtual Expo is a way better option if you want to use a video. As always, I disagree with all of you guys. It was well done, and looks favourably on Evan. My 2300 followers seemed to like it! Besides, I included the Let's talk Bitcoin podcast, and Alex-Ru's amazing article as well. A one stop tweet for Darkcoin PR! As Cartman would say, "screw you guys!" (Respectfully) I'm with those guys, let's not spread the bitcoin rush video any more than it's already been spread. The podcast is way better. And 2300 followers doesn't mean much when you follow 2600+ People, I follow 116 and have over 1900 followers, not people who followed me because I followed them. That's cool. You don't have to RT if you don't want to, but I would like to express myself in this way. I don't know where all of this Bitcoin Rush hate comes from, the day the video was released was the day Darkcoin started its climb. After months of sideways movement. Coincidence? Maybe, but I think not. And to your point of following, I'm building a community, inviting people to join me in the Dark. If they follow back, they will be exposed to all things Darkcoin, and possibly join me in the PR campaign. Check out the #Darkcoin feed to see how successful it's been. The video was released on darkcoin's birthday, intentionally. There is some causality confusion on your part I believe. I really appreciate the work you put in, honestly. But I am genuinely terrified that kimdotcom's first impression of drk would be that video. |

Is it normal to have holders over 1000+ coins without running a node? I honestly haven't looked into running one yet. Can a single IP run multiple nodes? Generally hosted or just run on old parts? My understanding that the private key isn't on the node itself so if that machine is compromised, coins are still safe..

Right now about 44% of all drk are in active masternodes, so there's a lot of coins out there that aren't in masternodes but a lot belong to exchanges merchants etc as well. At the moment you need a seperate IP address for each MN, and most people rent monthly VPS for around or less than $5 per month per MN. To have a valid masternode the darkcoin software needs to be running, but that specific instance does not need to hold the coins, it can be activated from another wallet which can then go cold. There are lots of good guides for setting them up, its really pretty easy once you start getting your feet wet. No one's interested in trading DRK on ripple / stellar using DividendRippler? That's disappointing... I did place a few bids for buying DRK with BTC, but while they where close to market then DRK has been going up. I would really like to buy some DRK there if anyone's game, and it helps keeping DR development up and running too Hey, would you mind giving an explanation for dummies as to what DividendRippler is? |

I think your response is entirely valid and appropriate oblox. But I do think MyFarm raises a very important observance of a phenomena that's here in Darkcoin and many other crypto projects. We're very fortunate that we appear to have a lead dev that's somewhat impervious to all the glowing fanboy love that's showered on him (and I'm not for an instant suggesting Evan shouldn't be praised or given accolades for what he's achieved and continues to achieve) but there is massive amounts of confirmation bias at work in the many interactions between us all. For the project to become really robust and shock-proof this aspect of it needs to mature, which I believe it will, but more discussion on these psychological phenomena is required.
Meh, I think the constant stream of trolls and FUDers keep us pretty well grounded. I believe this is one of those conversations everyone FEELS like we should have, but that the factors leading to the need of the conversation simply don't exist. |

We need a coordinated sig campaign that will give Andreas a plausible reason to say the words "darkcoin" the next time he speaks publicly or is asked about anonymity. Please be careful looking around for drk online wallets, I am pretty sure the only thing resembling an online wallet for drk is a big stinky scam. |

Try to break the instantX transaction locking by doing a double spend attack, by quickly sending to yourself twice from the same coin address in expert coin control (before the next block has time to be created), and see what happens .. Does it switch wallet to rainbow mode? QT can be pretty! :tongue:  Haven't actually tried that but will give it a shot tonight! |
