141  Economy / Speculation / Re: Winklevoss COIN -- Will it even matter? And how much? on: November 03, 2014, 08:48:02 PM
This ETF gonna take BTC to da moon nonsense reminds me a lot of the LTC on gox delusion of last year (we all know how that ended). BTC is already available for people to buy. If it needs some stupid ETF to pump up it's price while the bagholders dump it, then it is not a worthy investment whatsoever. It's nothing more than an exit strategy for some slimy whales, or another medium for manipulating the BTC market.

Bitcoin capitalism: You have two cows. They produce a lot of milk the first few days, then quit producing. You hold onto them hoping that one day they'll resume their high milk output. Cows die leaving you with nothing.
143  Economy / Speculation / Re: So how much have you lost this year by investing in Bitcoin? on: November 02, 2014, 05:24:39 PM
my initial investment of a thousand dollars got taken off the table, along with several other thousand in profit, and then i returned a small portion of the profit into coins at low 400s. those coins had unrealized gains of around $600 that i 'lost' by investing 20% of my profit from bitcoin back into bitcoin, however I'm not selling those bitcoin at a loss, and there for will not be losing those gains once the price rebounds.the reason which it will is because adoption is at an all time high and price, like it has so many times in the past, is just lagging. mostly due to intentional scare tactics adopted by whales for the purpose of accumulating more coins. if i lose it all, who fuckin cares it was free money in there in the first place.

the real question is why do you guys want to stir up negative emotions so much, such a sad lot you are.

The same reason people try to stir up talk of million or billion dollar bitcoins.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: November 02, 2014, 05:05:23 PM
Quote from: MrBig
Looks like someone is trying to stock up on more maidsafecoin each time the price dips. I guess they want to accumulate without driving the prJulyice up too much.

It's been happening like that for months...I buy when I can; I just don't have those resources but I get notifications on my mobile every time the price moves 5% and the pattern is very consistent.

It happened again yesterday. Price started dropping a bit and suddenly 2 million maidsafe bought: https://masterxchange.com/market.php?currency=maid

145  Economy / Speculation / Re: [POLL] When will Bitcoin touch $1000 again? on: November 02, 2014, 04:37:43 PM
August and September have the most votes. Proves how clueless are majority of people on this forum.

Bulls and their wishful thinking... don't know should I laugh or feel sorry for them

They were expecting the ETF to be approved by then. The lesson is to never listen to the blind predictions on here, as they have a vested interest in btc going up.
146  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 02, 2014, 04:21:00 PM
82 people thought price would be higher than $400 on Halloween. And they say the majority are bearish  Roll Eyes

We've still got quite a ways to go before the real panic sets in. $266 will be very interesting.

This doesn't sound good at all for btc  Sad

They say a picture is worth 1000 words, and I think this one sums up the current situation of BTC:
149  Economy / Speculation / Re: Unless a boom happens in November, there will be a massive correction on: November 01, 2014, 05:08:18 PM
Many people have been holding since January thinking the next upcoming November would be a boom.  Here we are - it's November and no boom yet.

Many people might start panic selling within the next 60 days and this could drive the price down to $100 or lower.

Many people were expecting btc to increase exponentially this year. Not only does that not appear to be happening, but it looks like the price is going to end up much lower than it was in the beginning of the year. The people who were advocating that you can't lose if you buy btc and hold for a year for guaranteed profits have no legs to stand on. If we do break the old ATH of $266, then I think it's quite possible to see a big crash rather than the show bleeding of the price that we've been witnessing.
150  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mining Supercycle - bearish phase? on: November 01, 2014, 04:52:27 PM
There are a few different factors to consider now compared to the 2011 bubble. There were no ASICs or mega-mining farms back then. Some of these mining farms are still making nice profits even at the current price, so there's no reason for them to shut off their miners yet. The one's mining at a loss right now will just get hit harder once they're forced to sell their btc in order to cover expenses.
151  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will you do when BTC is 1M each on: November 01, 2014, 05:08:08 AM
When BTC is one trillion each (any day now, since the ETF is launching soon), I'll ride my invisible flying unicorn to the North Pole, where I'll visit Santa Claus and his magical elves.

Why so bearish mate? Don't you want to join the quadrillionaires club?
152  Economy / Speculation / Re: The negative impact of mining farms on: November 01, 2014, 04:57:34 AM
Rumors are circulating that some of the large pools are planning to shut down due to the impending government regulations.

There's also rumors that certain cloud mining services are not actually mining with investor btc, but running a ponzi scheme.
153  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there any hope for bitcoin? Possible solutions? on: November 01, 2014, 01:38:31 AM
No. That's a Nokia 3310, and the mobile market was already enormous by the time that model was launched. Hundreds of millions of people owned mobile phones back then. Bitcoin is a whopping six years old now, and has only managed to attract a couple of hundred thousand people -- mostly nerds, libertarians, cultists, bulltards, scammers and criminals. The Average Joe immediately saw utility in mobile phones, and those same Joes have rejected Bitcoin, since Bitcoin has zero utility compared to things like fiat, gold and credit cards.
Bitcoin adoption is falling, a fact proven by the steadily declining price. It's just a simple matter of supply and demand. Nothing more.

I wonder which one of those categories I fall under, as I still own a few btc  Cheesy
154  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is there any hope for bitcoin? Possible solutions? on: October 31, 2014, 07:51:20 PM
I think it comes down to a matter of supply and demand. The average person who is interested in possibly getting into btc will ask themselves 'why do I need this thing?' Earlier, when many new users were adopting btc, the answer for many was because 'woah, maybe I can get rich off of this new thing!' Now it's sort of 'Meh, this thing lost 70% of it's value in 10 months. Too risky for me.'

There are of course many other reasons that people got into btc that I didn't list and don't care to get into. The main thing is that for the price to recover, there has to be increased demand for btc, and for that to happen, newcomers have to see something in btc that would make them want it. The people here can crow all day about how btc is the greatest thing since sliced cheese but that doesn't matter, as these people have already adopted btc. We need fresh demand for btc if it is to continue to grow.
155  Economy / Speculation / Re: Official Bitcoin Price Prediction for Dec 31, 2014 on: October 31, 2014, 05:36:51 AM
The ratio of bulls is still much higher. They're just quiet now because the price is dropping and many of them made retarded predictions that are turning out to be way off.
It's funny you should put it like that. Yes, our predictions were quite literally retarded, ie, "slowed or delayed". Bitcoin is still going to the moon, it's just taking longer than we first thought. Grin

I got to hand it to you, your comeback was as sly as a fox.

Nicely played Wink
156  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be that guy on: October 31, 2014, 04:44:43 AM
I don't care about the price of btc in 25 years. Technological innovation happens fast, and it's only a matter of time before btc is dethroned by one or more superior cryptos.

Are you shorting Bitcoin right now?

If not , why not?

No I am not because I do not trust these centralized exchanges.
157  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be that guy on: October 31, 2014, 04:25:20 AM

I never said 10 years, but rather a matter of time. Also, I don't consider btc to be money.

 Huh

and you expect us to have a serious debate with you?

No, I expect you to continue believing that btc is going to turn you into a billionaire.

Yeah, cause people like to change the forms of money they use every 10 year right, no big deal, right MrBig

I guess it's only a matter of time then for that new superior crypto to be dethroned, cause, you know, technological innovation happens fast.

Or maybe the next one is the ultimate form ?

 Roll Eyes

Anyhow, nice of you to try to change the subject from the btc billionaire fantasy.
159  Economy / Speculation / Re: Be that guy on: October 30, 2014, 08:13:46 PM
Very well then. I'm sorry. Carry on with your billionaire fantasies.

There you go again. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

So how long should I hodl my btc until I become a billionaire?

It's ironic how someone who brings logic to the debate is dismissed as a troll by your likes, yet the one who spouts delusion is defended and justified, all because of greed.

If by logic you mean accusing him of being a liar and talking nonsense then right you are, Spock.

Someone with the username 'MrBig' accusing random people of having 'billionaire fantasies' on a forum chock full of millionaires probably shouldn't throw the word irony around too much.

Firstly I didn't call him a liar, but rather, asked him a question. Secondly, my username, which I happened to choose from a candybar wrapper that happened to be in front of me when I made this account, has no bearing whatsoever on this discussion. Thirdly, my irony statement was referring to the double standards of certain bitsheep and has nothing to do with millionaires on this forum.

Very well then. I'm sorry. Carry on with your billionaire fantasies.

There you go again. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Depends on how many one has...

It could happen to people with 4 digits amount in maybe 20-25 years

Do you think it's impossible for someone to become a billionaire holding BTC?

Satoshi was a billionaire for a couple of days !

Satoshi is said to have over 1 million btc, he's not your average btc holder. Either way, most people buying a few btc and expecting to become billionaires are delusional. People buying 1000 btc and expecting to become billionaires are delusional too. People buying btc without expectations and considering it a risk that may or may not pay off are thinking rationally.

I don't care about the price of btc in 25 years. Technological innovation happens fast, and it's only a matter of time before btc is dethroned by one or more superior cryptos.
