It should make things easier later on when and if bitcoin becomes a more main stream.

As far as something that makes paying for purchases using your mobile something more familiar, then yes this will help make the use of a Bitcoin app for payment seem not that much different.

Apparently not just any PayPal user can pay using these terminals.  You first need to enable in-store checkout on your PayPal account:

And also, with the methods to cash out bitcoins to PayPal, this is almost like another form of the BitInstant PayCard .... cash out to PayPal prior to making in-store purchases with it.   While the methods to do this are becoming relatively plentiful (FastCash4Bitcoins.com, VirWoX, BitInstant), those methods are relatively costly.     Over-the-counter trades through #bitcoin-otc can help bring the cost down to 0 (where both sides trade at market rate, payment sent as a "personal/payment owed") but that carries risks like the counterparty doing a chargeback or account closure/funds frozen on either your side or your counterparty's side.

But, in a pinch, that option is better than nothing!
Interesting, I was thinking the same thing about bitinstant as well.  Over time more and more eCommerce will continue to grow.

Just thought I would post that the other day I was at home depot and noticed they have a button for paypal to pay.  I did not see this before and figured it would be of interest since that is the first time I have seen that option at a store through the store.  It should make things easier later on when and if bitcoin becomes a more main stream.
143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: getting BTC into ISO 4217 currency list on: November 10, 2012, 01:01:16 PM
ISO would be interesting and give organizations pause to think about its application with this certification.

Bitcoins should have a lite wallet where it doesn't require the blockchain and instead you connect to peers / nodes..
second that. the downloading of the whole chain is just too cumbersome for real usability. I have not used the client for a while and then i have to wait for an hour before i can make any transactions or see if some money arrived. just too slow to be usuable at the moment. Mobile devices are totally overloaded by this
I think that you have two ways of looking at it, online for small and short term amounts and offline for savings and large amounts.

Noooooo...! Democracy has backfired.  Grin

Here's my stump speech.

"you know, my opponent's video is long and boring... and that's not what we need for america... So get out there and vote for Pumpkin! I'm sysrun and I approve this message."

Excuse me but I think I take the long and boring vote, thank you very much  Grin
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New type of Mastercard - virtual keyboard and virtual LCD on: November 08, 2012, 01:12:00 PM
Read all about it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20250441

Now this is from my point of view a step in the right direction. If this contains a virtual device inside the card, we can "hack" it and add Bitcoin, piggy backing on a Mastercard.
That is funny, probably doable but exactly what they don't want to have happen, the hacking part anyways.

what are you running in those boxes?

5830s & 5870s, 2 pieces per box

Really like you guys who use a server rack, very clean!

tkx Smiley

From one rack guy to another, very nice but with the cards and from what I can see how do you keep the temps down?  I had to pull the cover on my CPU to get enough air in there to cool that bad boy down.

Ok, time killer, play world of tanks.  Free and the graphics are sick.  Not connected to them but just wowed at the game.  The part that sucks is that I have to slow down my graphics cards from mining to play but I can cut it down to a 5 in CGMiner and play the game for a bit.
149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could declaring Bitcoin a religion protect it from Finacial Regulation? on: November 06, 2012, 03:55:35 AM
Calling Bitcoin a religion would do nothing to advance the cause of freedom nor invoke any legal protection, and would make us look psychotic and out of touch.
So wait are you saying we are not psychotic and out of touch?   Sorry could not pass that up.

Not interested in any religions but if we go this way please no mats for praying to our bitcoin gods four times a day and I am out if we call a holy war.
150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoins at the British Museum on: November 04, 2012, 07:48:15 PM
Very cool but interesting they list USA on the card.  Sure it is because of who provided the coin.

This "oil" bathing is all well and good until.........

1. An Ecap explodes, spraying oil everywhere.
2. You have a "Chip-pan fire" during a critical failure.

Paypal Payout Method Added

Might want to ask Inaba about Paypal payouts first.

Is there anything wrong with Paypal payouts
Ya, check with Inaba at Eclipsemc.  Something did not go well with that, not sure why.
155  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL refunds works flawlessly and fast on: November 01, 2012, 03:07:48 PM
Thanks for cancelling your order......LOL. One less to delay my order.

And less difficulty :p

I do wonder how much of the blatant FUD around here is just an attempt to keep the difficulty down by people either heavily invested in gpu or in the new asics...

Wink i think you are right
Your probably right and if so it is like they are trying to stop a wave in the ocean.

So now both BFL and Tom are expecting a launch at around beginning of December. This is interesting.
Hey quick question, I though Tom was going to launch in November?  Do you have a link to this update?

Don't you all realize this is the government attempt to control bitcoin, they are taking over  Grin

Love that graphic on the front, must have cost a bunch just for that.
