Or even maybe three month cycles with other pow between the six month sha256 cycles?
What does this mean?

Just hoping that they would come out with their scrypt miner before march.
Why bother, there is hardly any money in scrypt. LTC is the best and it's got about 5% of the market cap that BTC has.

I think there would be huge money to be made with a KNC scrypt miner. If they were to take preorders after current orders started arriving... Well I think it would be huge.
The ASIC market seems like it is about to be so saturated.
The cost of an ASIC scrypt mining chip would be several times more than the cost of a SHA256 chip, that's why scrypt is used in the first place, so the coin you would have to mine would need to be several hundred percent more profitable than BTC to get the same ROI. Good luck! Keep dreaming.

why so expensive? the memory?

Another option is also to just base the position in queue by order time, and not payment.

If your position is reached, and payment hasn't arrived yet, it's simply on hold. If it has arrived, it goes through.

Good idea, the best so far. +1

Bitcoin is going to generate 3600 coins per day for many, many years to come.

If by "many, many years" you mean less than 4, then we are in agreement Cheesy.
Well, if you think BTC is only going to be around for four more years, then let's figure out a way to really short these things, and just be done with it.  Wink

Oh, wait: selling mining equipment is a bear bet on bitcoin after all, isn't it?

every 4 years reward for every block is halved.

2 Saturns both Day1   Wink

as for snooping the inventory by typing in max order amounts, that can just be a place holder limiter.  As in the storefront assumes extracting from a live inventory but since they don't really have one they have to throw a number in that field to count down from or recode it.

relax

Did you people do this to BFL last summer or since you didn't you are all freaking out paranoid and attacking KnC?

I know Rampion is in that scorned by BFL camp.  He needs counseling

Order number? and when did you pay?

I am really not interested in Open Days, just plain old transparency. It works.

Got one on order, have you?

Open days is all about transparency.... Yes i got an order, KNCminer has been cool from day 1.

i dont know, but i think troll..
156  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner and their 'magic' SHA256 alogorithm on: June 15, 2013, 08:14:22 PM

And speaking of said, here are some questions you shouldask anyone wanting your money up front for any asic product:

1. Who is the silicon foundry?
2. Are you using a Multi Project Wafer service or a full mask set?
3. What is the chip size?
4. How many pipelines does it have and what is the operating frequency?
5. What is the target package type?
6. If you are using a full mask set ($1.6 - $2.3 Million for 28nm) who or how are you financing it and what are your contingency plans if you need a respin?
7. To get '90 day' production you need a lot of chips, meaning you need several wafers (costing 15 - 30k dollars each in a small geometry). Refer to 6 above.
8. What software tools have you used for development and if they are commercial ones like Cadence, exactly how have you financed them up to now?
9. What happens to my money/order if you miss the 90 day target?
10. Will you publish an order backlog summary for purchasers to examine?
11. Will you publish the invoice for NRE for purchasers to see? (ie to see that it really is x nm)

Feel free to add your own. There is absolutely no reason for any company wanting your money NOT to answer these questions.

There has been 2 open days at KNCminer. They answered pretty much all the questions asked to them. You could have sendt your questions with someone attending.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 03, 2013, 04:50:31 PM
only method of getting the machine is stockholm pick up...no shipping options yet..
!!!!

Yes, UPS is on the list.
I don't have it on list.

I do. And it's a pretty expensive option, BTW.

I'm not sure what to make of Mars, all I do know was two days back the majority of people were bitching about it being there and an expensive waste, now it's not people are bitching about it being removed as too many people were complaining about it being an expensive waste!!

What's going on? The website order # are reset and products are now available and you're able to pay for it now.

Huh?? Paid pre-orders now?
Well that's kind of what they should've planned for since the beginning, that said I really doubt that they will respect these new order IDs over the old ones, they were really set on that idea for whatever reason.

I am sure they will take the old orders into consideration when shipping begins. They probably have their own internal system for it.
