Got my two s2's today. Both where fucked up inside, Cards everywhere, bent pci slots. Plastic thingy holding the cards had about 50% survival rate.
After assembling them back together one did not start and one worked at 650Ghs. After some hours of trying different things I got two new PSU's, XFX Black Edition 1250W and RECOM 1600W(Overkill but had it laying around) One are stable at 1Ths the other is working at 920ghs with row 10 showing only lines.
I feel the s2 is a step down from s1 when it comes to build quality and overall design.
Next time pack each cards individually with bubblewrap and stick them inside the miner. Shipping the miner with the cards already in their slot is borderline retarded.
I had the same and found that the card that wasn't registering was missing one of the tiny resistors ("0") closest to the pci connection on the board. I replaced the resistor with some pencil and some silver conductive paint and it's working fine for a week now. Thank you for that, will try it out.  You got picture so I can see? I've got no education in electronics either, but I saw the corresponding resistor on another board had a "0" on it, so figured it wasn't providing much resistance and just shorted it and it worked. mine arrived fine, and had rubber strips in the lid designed to keep the cards tight in the slots. The damaged units must be going through some rough handling - maybe a 'this side up' is necessary? Both had rubber strips under the lid, the idea is good but it did not hold. |

What on earth are you talking about? About that GPUs and FPGA are faster then ASICs, they do not tell you so you can buy the ASICs like sheeps on the way to be slaughted. Pure shovelselling. Conan I think his English is not the best and he implies that a gpu and fpga is a better buy. We all know a gpu is not faster at sha256 compared to an asic, but with the way btc diff progresses I wouldn't buy into any of these sha miner pre orders, even the bitmain is too darn expensive based on mining profitability. Wish I had one to help, but with guys like atadro buying 6 there weren't many to go around. Being first has its drawbacks, good luck guys, I hope you get it figured out.
You can say that again. Both of my 2 units are totally fubar'd. Unit 1 had the Raspberry Pi board popped out of the bus, and several cards were out of their slots, but even after re-seating it (and checking all connections), I can't get any connection to the unit. The LCD display lights up but there is nothing displayed, and the green light on the LCD never comes on. The ethernet port seems connected to the switch (switch shows active connection), but 192.168.1.99 cannot be accessed at all via SSH or http or even ping. Dead for all intents and purposes as far as I can tell. Unit 2 was a great example of total lack of QC (or else the unit was put in a washing machine and run through the "shake it up and spin" cycle). Check out the pics below. I haven't even tried to repair, as the bus connections are so bad (and many are loose) that it is impossible to seat all the boards and even if I could seat them, they would be under great strain. I can't believe they shipped something like this and I can't believe that shipping damage would be to blame for this one. I don't get why a lot of people are complaining about the ethernet port placement. If you're going to rackmount it, isn't it easier to have ethernet in front just like many rackmount switches are setup?
Spondoolies-tech also has their ethernet port up front for their rackmount miners.

Because sending a bank wire is a huge pain in the ass vs sending Bitcoins is probably the reason they are refunding in Bitcoins. There are also fees involved in sending wires. The one thing that makes sense is to send a refund in Bitcoin. Not sure what the big deal is. They may have used the money they originally had. They do mine there with their existing hardware from what I understand, so they probably have some coins in a pool that they can distribute but it's probably not a lot. And then they have people still paying for new orders from time to time.
Not that much of a mystery really. Anyway, I could care less, I just want to see my miner ship by May 1st. If it does not, I want to see added compensation or I'll request a refund as well.

I'm sure someone has asked, but what do you use to power the ants? Have you a quick howto/faq describing the parts for the server PSU and cabling? I'm currently using consumer Corsair 600W per overclocked ant and I'd like something cleaner. I can run dedicated 20A 120v circuits, so hopefully something that works with this. Thanks in advance he uses Delta DPS-2000BB server PSUs. (2000W) 200v-240v only In this picture I only have each Delta powering 4 overclocked Ants, but my normal set-up is 6 overclocked ants per PSU. (OC to 375) are there any guides on how to set up server PSUs? I've never used one before, just the standard ATX.
