Did I miss something. Is this going to be a tor network site? I was under the assumption that this was at purevidz.net and not a ,onion site.

No it will not be a tor network site. For those in areas with very strict internet filtering we will offer a .onion domain so that they can still access an archive of our website and its magnet links. With that data they can still use whatever torrent client they prefer to download the torrents in a traditional manner. It's simply a fallback and is not intended as a main feature of our project.

Excuse my ignorance but what on earth if a fake seeder and how can they destroy pure vidz.

He is discussing issues with a different project, not ours.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥📀 ANN 📀 PUREVIDZ 📀 CROWDFUNDING UNDERWAY 📀 2 ESCROWS 📀 VIDZ 📀🎥 on: December 08, 2016, 06:13:31 PM
So you will have to pay to watch each movie in wallet?

The site will be free for anyone to use and will not require any software, addons or wallets. From a user standpoint it will function the same as something like youtube where you can simply click anything you want and it will start playing in your browser within seconds.

Premium features can be unlocked using VIDZ coins which will include: no ads, custom site skins, VIP requests for new content, alerts when tracked media is available and much more.
Users may tip those adding content to the site to encourage them or place bounties on new releases to encourage it to be added to the site.
Those who submit or review new content are given a portion of the bounty placed to reward them for keeping the site updated and to ensure all releases are of the highest quality and stability.

The site funds itself through VIP memberships, advertisements (with strict advertisement guidelines), through referrals and through product partnerships to bring our services outside of the browser (android tv boxes being a fantastic example). Funds earned by the site are split between costs of hosting/development, the dev fund allocated for viral marketing campaigns and global bounties and the remainder is put towards organized coin buyback programs.

No you will not. You will be able to make a bounty for your favorite film or series assuming it has not already been uploaded for you to watch. Soo lets say it hasn't and you want to watch a high quality version of batman, create a bounty with your vids for bounty hunters to upload that said film, once someone does then the vidz will be released to them. Hopefully the dev will chime in if I have misunderstood.I don't think there will be movies in wallet.

Essentially correct yes. The wallet will be in no way required in order to watch or submit content for the website. That being said we are investigating various extended functionality for the wallet which users can optionally enable. This would be things such as optionally assigning a portion of your harddrive space and bandwidth to help seed torrents for the website in order to receive a small amount of coins. This would be an option for those who essentially wanted to 'mine' the coin in a more traditional way than a POS coin offers. I want to be clear that this is simply something we are testing and developing, I cannot guarantee it will be part of the initial release.

I haven't read anything after this post so appologies if i rehash some questions already answered.

Your strategy is to hide behind a database of different domains and route to whatever domain is available and haven't been taken down yet. I see this working as i beleive thats the technique TPB is using so kudos on that strategy. For your .onion solution for users in different countries, it sounds great on paper but have you tried browsing .onion sites using tor browser? Your lucky to get 56k speeds, goodluck streaming anything at those speeds.

This is all speculations but i see you guys having a LOT of legal problems. Most torrent sites are not user friendly. You won't find your local mom/pop downloading movies through torrents. You need some technical skills to get around downloading/installing a torrent client, browsing to a torrent site that won't shit all over your PC with ads and malware, download a torrent file with enough seeds to get it in a reasonable time, MAYBE even having to install a proper codec in order to view the video. That's a lot of work versus paying $9.95/m for a service like netflix ect... The Hollywood legal team don't care as much as they would if YOU become the pirate version of netflix. I can almost see them sitting at there offices waiting for you to release your first beta so they can slap you with your first legal case. All those average internet users can now EASILY view pirated content, goodluck staying open long enough to switch to the next domain lol.

I'm also curious to know what is your marketing strategy. How will people FIND your website? A thread on bitcointalk and an altcoin is cool but you need visitors to take advantage of ad revenue ect...

I'm aware the thread is getting a bit long to read through but for more detailed answers I might suggest taking a look through some of our other replies. I'd like to address some of your main concerns though.

.onion domains and TorBrowser speeds: The .onion domain will be a simplified way for users to access our database of content and our searching/tagging libraries. There is nothing stopping those users from using a traditional torrenting client once they grab the magnet link from our site. TorBrowser is considered a extreme backup for those who live in areas with extreme copyright or internet censorship laws.

Legal issues: There is nothing illegal about our site. We are offering links to indexed content the same as any search engine. While the past years have definitely shown that many countries (primarily the USA) does not care about laws and will still attempt to disrupt your service, none of the content on our site is copyright and nothing about our service breaks any laws. We will of course take every precaution to ensure the site cannot be interfered with or taken offline but it has been proven already that staying online amidst great political pressure is not an insurmountable issue.

Marketing strategy: We have many strategies planned.

Our first strategy involves bringing in as many contributors of existing torrent communities to convince them our site shows promise. When combined with the global bounty on all content submitted to our site during the beta period, it will be a 'no brainer' for them to add us to the list of sites which they submit their content to. The fact they are already releasing it to dozens of other sites benefits us greatly because it increases the reliability of these releases to ensure there will be active seeds all around the world while our site has time to grow its user base.

The second strategy involves attracting as much attention from the crypto community as possible. This means twitter and signature campaigns, press releases and generally letting users know about the coin, its features and uses and the site being developed. This is designed so that we will be able to jump start the economy of the site itself (placing bounties, testing the premium services, tipping, etc) as these users are already familiar with what cryptocurrencies are and how to use them.

The third major strategy boils down to viral marketing. Following the 1.0 release of the website (populated with content during the beta period!) we will be offering existing members of our community bounties to advertise the site in many ways. This includes facebook, twitter, youtube and forum posts advertising the service but also real world marketing including things such as bounties for printing off an approved flyer and posting it in their local community center of campus. Given the site will already be online and have tons of content from the beta period, these users will act as vectors for explosive growth in our user base.

We will of course be reaching out to various news websites, community forums and groups and writing press releases as part of each of those three strategies.

So what happens in the case that you don't pull much in the ICO? Let's say you hit a cap of 3 BTC. What happens to the project?
I think dev mentioned 50 BTC minimum, or refund all investors.

This is correct. If we do a refund the project won't entirely die per se but we wouldn't be able to focus our resources specifically time into development the platform at the pace we'd like.
144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥📀 ANN 📀 PUREVIDZ 📀 CROWDFUNDING UNDERWAY 📀 2 ESCROWS 📀 VIDZ 📀🎥 on: December 08, 2016, 02:47:48 AM
Attempting to build an illegal business off of piracy (profit on other people's work). On top of being illegal, this is incredibly shitty to do. Movies and shows that people love are extremely expensive. If you want to enjoy their product, you can cough up the couple bucks a month a Netflix or HBO account costs.

Are people really that stupid that they would trust a pirate with their money? Thankfully it appears not many based on the ICO address.

To sum it up: Not going to bother with a longer review seeing as how little information is provided in their OP, and how straightforward it is: investing in illegal businesses will never end well.

You are welcome to your opinion and your own take on current events. We encourage all potential investors to do their research before making any decisions regarding our project.

We believe in the freedom of information and that traditional media has done the public a disservice in refusing to update their business model and evolve to reflect changing technology. Services such as Netflix and Hulu are a great step forward but are absolutely unusable in many areas of the world due to ridiculous licensing issues. Compare the selection of netflix inside the US to other areas of the world and the differences are astounding. This is before even taking into account the different economic conditions between countries.

Our site and our business model does not break any copyright laws in our country and while certain areas of the world may choose to argue that point, we are not hosting anything which is copyright but rather links that allow users to retrieve information on the content they are looking for. We have the ability to address the 2 biggest issues with traditional torrent sites. Number one, it simplifies the process requiring no third party software, extensions or custom browser addons. Number two, you do not have to dig through dozens or hundreds of results to find what you are looking for or require any special knowledge to ensure you are not exposed to malicious content.  We also solve the biggest issue with traditional streaming sites in that content linked from our website is decentralized and has no single point of failure.

Whatever the legal status of torrents in your area and whatever your moral stance on copyright law and traditional media is, it is undeniable that what our project looks to provide holds not only promise, but monetary value for investors. I would strongly encourage testing our second demo site as it goes live this weekend and doing research on similar services. Anyone who regularly uses stream or torrent sites will be able to see at a glance the power of what we are doing with this project.

Interesting I just hope the copyright violations don't get the site shut down.  So when someone requests a video they put a bounty up and then the person gets them the video, after that can only that person who put the bounty up download or can anyone; like does it become part of a searchable database?

When someone submits an item to the site, they are simply providing a magnet link (a hash used for torrent clients) and some simple metadata (movie title for example) so our site can begin to categorize the item. Approved members of the site must then approve that release simply by saying "yes, it is what they said it is" and verifying that the torrent has enough people seeding it. At that point our site will scrape the internet for extended information about that release. This includes things such as genre tags, ratings, synopsis, posters and more. It uses that data to build a comprehensive database on that release so when users search the site or are watching something else, it can make relevant recommendations for other movies/shows they may wish to watch.

It's worth re-starting that there is no copyright content being stored on our servers or being used by our site. When a user requests a torrent, we simply provide them with the magnet link for the torrent and they can connect to other peers to download the file itself. This is all done within the browser leveraging Javascript, WebRTC and WebTorrent.

You say I can add new movie to site after saturday? What format do submissions need to be? I have some movies I will try adding.

Yes, submission of new content will be enabled in the second demo. In order to be approved for the site, torrents must contain a .mp4 file with h.264 video encoding and AAC or MP3 audio encoding. This is to ensure that it will be compatible across all browsers which support html5 and wont ever need extra software.

We strongly recommend anything submitted to the site be from an existing torrent site to ensure it will have already been spread among many users. This will ensure quicker load speeds for those testing the site and provide redundancy for the system. As our service launches and grows in popularity this will become less relevant.
145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥📀 ANN 📀 PUREVIDZ 📀 CROWDFUNDING UNDERWAY 📀 2 ESCROWS 📀 VIDZ 📀🎥 on: December 07, 2016, 09:59:42 PM
Sounds like an interesting project. How does it compare with TVAddons?

TVAddons that I know about is a site listing and hosting KODI addons rather than a streaming or torrenting service. With the release of our public API (as listed in the dev timeline) we will be looking to engage developers working on KODI and other devices to include our site with the possibility of partnering with android tv merchants to market set-top boxes using our site as a preconfigured option.

The comparison between vTorrent and PureVidz is not unexpected but as you say can be hard to draw parallels.

As per their thread, they are looking to re-create the days of Kaza They are looking to re-create the days of kazaa or limewire where users access torrents through a downloaded client with the search engine and file tags being decentralized through that application. I am not going to pass judgement having not been involved in their project but the only real difference between what they are describing and what is offered by dozens of applications or websites for a decade or more is rewarding people for submitting and seeding content. While we strongly believe rewarding users for participating in building and maintaining our site's content is necessary and useful, I do not see it as some grand breakthrough that dismisses the inconvenience and mistrust users have for torrents and I don't believe it alone is enough to push users away from their favorite torrenting sites or applications.

Purevidz is designed completely around simplicity. The end user should need no addons or 3rd party applications and it should simply 'work'. I would prefer to refrain from 'trashtalking' other projects so I will simply leave it at that one comparison, our site does not require any knowledge of torrenting or blockchain technology in order to be used and enjoyed. It should feel for the user no different than how they already interact with youtube or any traditional streaming service.

Will be interested to know how IP addresses logs and following the blockchain money thing will be worked out - you know, tracking users.

To ensure the safety and anonymity of our users, our website will not record any logs more than are required to function and troubleshoot the site. Our site will contain a section specifying exactly what data is recorded, our policies on how long records are maintained for and our policies on who has access to that data. The most simplistic description of those policies will be:  no user-specific data will be recorded, any logs will be purged within 30 days and will not be accessible through any external network connections and not made available to any 3rd parties.

When dealing with user accounts we will of course offer standard security features including but not limited to site wide SSL, 2FA and passwords and emails being salted and hashed to avoid any personal data being accessible by site staff. We will have a separate mailing list which users can opt into which will give us permission to store a readable copy of your email address for use in promotions, a similar privacy policy will be placed on this database and will be viewable when opting into that service.

Because torrents available through our website will function just as well on traditional torrent sites, tracking individual user seeds is not necessary. Instead we simply need to know who submitted the original torrent and moderators must review a torrent to ensure it has a healthy existing seed count and is properly tagged before approving it for use in our site. For anyone with experience in torrenting, having them available across as many sites as possible is a good thing for the health of the network.

Just showing some pictures wont suffice. Is it guaranteed that the next demo will look like that?

Short answer is the second demo will look and function better than what is demonstrated in those screenshots. The next few days are about writing and testing all of the functionality to make sure the second demo will work across all situations. It's worth mentioning those are not photoshop mock ups, they are the current functional version of the site.

via Imgflip Meme Generator

Just wondering but is it possible to replace the 'Please give the video a moment to buffer" with something like "Thanks for watching at Pure Vidz"  I ask because the movie is up and running but it still says it needs the moments for buffering. Besides for that good job so far dev.

The initial video player is a temporary one and will not be used in the second demo or the final release. That player is intended simply to show the technology of the site in action and to give something for potential investors to look at while we put the finishing touches on the second demo which will be available this weekend. Our second demo will unlock many new features including submitting new content for the site, searching by title/tags/genre and watching in a much more stylish video player.

Here are the screenshots of the second demo site - keep in mind this is representative of a work in progress and it may be changed.

What is the estimated valuation of this company ?  What would you anticipate a share of VIDZ costing?  What exchanges will carry it ? Any demos? Any patents? Any intellectual property?  All serious questions to consider before investing.  DEV if possible can you answer these questions I may invest.
It's hard to value at this point and it's not reasonable to value a company based on promises in the future. We do have ambitious goals to bring our site and torrents back to up par with the quality of Netflix and the simplicity of Youtube. Our goal minimum goal for the crowdfund is 50 BTC but our ideal goal is 200 BTC. For demos, we are in the process of releasing a series of them to show the growth of our infrastructure. Nearing the end of the crowdsale we'll be reaching out to popular exchanges such as Bittrex and Yobit. We have realistic expectations going into this we don't expect Poloniex to list us overnight.

Again, it's hard to answer the question of patents at this point and as for intellectual property there is infrastructure itself (i.e. the code behind how its all pieced together).

Thanks for your questions, hope this provides some clarity.

This coin sounds interesting.

*Watch*

Still want to know the goal in BTC please.
Our minimum goal is 50 BTC, if this is not reached we'll do a full refund. Our aim is to reach 200 BTC and we'll be looking to include a technical spread sheet of how funds are being allocated once we update our information document with our financial information. This will also detail more about our marketing strategy and plans going forward.

What are the bounties  Huh

All bounties will be available and posted in the second post of our thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1696889.msg17023417#msg17023417

More to come soon Smiley

Good idea, I just hope this won't be another Famecoin ICO where there was little interest in the project. Project of this nature requires huge capital and I don't think this team have a solid marketing team to help achieve that goal

We have a marketing strategy that's currently in the process of being deployed. We're open to criticism, so if you feel the need to please elaborate on any areas you feel we are lacking. We'll be publishing more details on this when we address finances and revenue in the near future.

Today marks the launch of the first Pure Vidz demo site.

Tech Demo: http://purevidz.net/info/moviepreview
Tech Details (new): http://purevidz.net/info/intro

We wanted to clarify why the first demo is so basic and offer insight into the second demo coming soon.

While we will not block users from submitting copyright materials to the site, we ourselves cannot do so for legal reasons. As such we are using the first demo to simply demonstrate streaming torrents in the browser without any downloads or addons being required. For these purposes we are using a public domain film with no current copyright - we are aware that this limited test will not feel very entertaining to users which is why we are committed to launching the second beta site no later than this weekend. The second demo site will allow users to submit torrents and metadata for content they wish featured on the site, review of submitted content to validate them, viewing approved content by tags, title, release date and more.

Demo 2 is where the site’s functionality and potential will truly shine, where Demo 1 is a rough tech-based demo to be compared against our technical whitepaper. For those who can’t wait and want a sneak peek...

151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥📀 ANN 📀 PUREVIDZ 📀 CROWDFUNDING UNDERWAY 📀 2 ESCROWS 📀 VIDZ 📀🎥 on: December 06, 2016, 03:04:00 AM
So what makes you better then your closest competition and who would that be?

There are two main styles of competition.

Competitor one is traditional torrent sites and the ultimate example would be thepiratebay. It's been around forever and does a great job of offering users torrents but it is not user friendly. There is no streaming functionality, you have to find a torrent client to use, you have to search for the show or movie by name, sort through various options and then download the one you want. There's no guarantee what you are downloading is real (although reviews, trusted uploaders and seed count is generally a strong indication) and you have no easy way to guarentee compatibility with the device you may be using. This situation has improved drastically in the past few years as most people have already switched over to using VLC and most torrent users are using utorrent or similar big name clients but the fact remains it is never a service that aunts and uncles and grandparents are likely to use because it involves too many steps and assumes computer literacy of its users.

Competitor two is traditional streaming sites. By that I mean sites like couchtuner, primewire of many others. Our advantage over those sites is we do not rely on specific file hosts. With these sites you will be plagued by broken or removed links, low quality mirrors and horrendously sketchy sites where you never know how many clicks it might take to 'actually get something to play'. These sites have gained millions of users because they are free and require no external software but the amount of malicious popups and frustration they provide is simply unacceptable.

By merging the advantages of both types of services and designing from the ground up with a monetization strategy that doesn't involve tricking or maliciously infecting users we look to push this project to incredible heights. Following the release of our API the financial ecosystem of the site will highly encourage those who want to extend the service into new territory to do so (automatically submitting new content for the site, porting the service to the living room with KODI and much more)

I never even knew what youtubered was until now. How come I dont see any active marketing for it? You'd think thatg google would put some money into seo or some advertising. Do you know why they aren't or are they and im just not seeing it.

It's my understanding that youtube red was pushed quite heavily around a year ago with 'premium' content being created by top channels and locked behind the subscription service. There was a large amount of user complaints and since then I've not seen it advertised by youtube since... I would assume they are revising how the system will be handled and maybe forming external partnerships to change how the service works.

The main issue users seemed to have is that there was an initial burst of content lined up for the launch but no ongoing reason to keep surbscribing so it felt very much like a gimmick.
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥📀 ANN 📀 PUREVIDZ 📀 CROWDFUNDING UNDERWAY 📀 2 ESCROWS 📀 VIDZ 📀🎥 on: December 05, 2016, 07:17:45 PM
Video streaming site, there is no detailed go to market strategy, alot of people have tried to go into this market and yet not successful even I read sometimes that Youtube has never made Google any money so far

We will not be hosting any of the videos or materials in any way therefor our costs will the tiniest fraction of traditional streaming services. When using the site you are loading a torrent file through your browser and sharing it peer2peer with other users as well as with those accessing the torrent through traditional torrenting sites. The goal of our website is to merge the functionality and convenience of streaming services like youtube, netflix, hulu and others while offering all of the power and reliability of torrents.

I've covered extensively in my posts our planned methods of monetization and marketing. You can expect a much more finely detailed whitepaper in the coming days as well as a demo version of the site demonstrating the technology itself. Within a week of that we will launch the second demo site which will allow early users to start populating it with content and a preview of many of the sites features. We will of course welcome feedback on our whitepapers and demo sites as they are posted so that we can fine tune things to their maximum potential.

We look forward to you trying our services as the demo sites are launched.

I don't even see a beta 1 and you're talking about beta 2.  Grin Grin When will beta one be out for public use.

Beta 1 will be up within the next 2 days at most. Beta 2 will be reliant on user feedback and testing. Our goal is Beta 2 will be online a week after Beta 1.

The core difference between Beta1 and Beta2 is that we will be allowing users to start submitting new content for the site. For that to work we need to first write the shell of the bounty system to handle submitting and reviewing new media, account permissions and of course tracking who released what so they can receive their bounties after the ICO ends. The search, rating and tagging systems are already in our internal version of the site but will also need full testing when moved into the new structure of the website. During this period it is worth mentioning that submissions will be set to invite + investors only to avoid the site being spammed with fake content. We will likely hand out invites to people from the thread who want to validate functionality as well but they are intended to start onboarding existing release groups from other torrent sites to get them familiar with our systems.

We are doing our final testing of beta 1 this afternoon. Assuming there are no critical issues it will be online for testing this evening. At the very latest it should be online tomorrow.

Beta 2 is planned for ~ 1 week later as it will let us track user reports and make adjustments to the site before allowing users to flood it with custom content.
154  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: 🎥📀 ANN 📀 PUREVIDZ 📀 CROWDFUNDING UNDERWAY 📀 2 ESCROWS 📀 VIDZ 📀🎥 on: December 05, 2016, 06:03:38 PM
So I assume without knowing the price of the coin yet we cant be sure how much the payday may be. I'll keep watching and base my decission on how many btc you collect and the average price of the coin closer to the end of your ico. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

One more question though. The vidz that go to the development fund when a bounty is placed and claimed. What will those vidz be used for?

The dev fund will trigger global site bounties when it crosses thresholds. The amount required to trigger the next one will be publicly posted following the end of the previous global bounty. The first global bounty will run starting with the release of Beta 2 of the site and will consist of 1kk coins. Following the ICO we will look at how much is left in the dev fund and publicly post how much it needs to reach and how much the next global bounty will consist of. That process will repeat each time the previous global bounty ends.

It will also be used for various viral marketing campaigns such as rewarding those who print out a flyer for the website and post it at their local campus or community center, our current twitter campaign and any future promotions where users are rewarded tokens for participating in the site and its advertisements.

There's simply no reason for someone already submitting to other torrent sites to not also do so for purevidz as they are already doing so but now get rewarded for including us in the list of sites their torrents are posted on. The submitted torrents being available across dozens of other sites ensures that our sites initial content is spread out across many users for redundancy and availability. Once the site reaches critical mass of contributors and viewers that will be less important but at launch it will be critical.

How much can I expect to earn if I put up every episode of Friends the tv show for example.
Or let's say I seeded the 3 Godfathers. Do you have any numbers on how much that might earn me.
Im just trying to figure out if people can earn an extra income just from submitting their movies and tv shows.
Because if that's the case I can see this growing big and fast but if people are only making $0.10 to seed a series you may have trouble finding the people who will bring the content that will make PV better then the others.

There is no way to give specific amounts because bounties are granted in 3 different ways. If you managed to upload the newest greatest movie or show before everyone else and it was highly demanded by users then the payout would be rather large. If you were submitting a bunch of old shows you had laying around on your computer you would obviously be receiving less (or nothing).

In regards to seeding, the nature of the site means tracking individual user seed amounts will not be feasible. The review process ensures that submitted content already has seeds added (you cant submit then immediately stop seeding). We will be offering traditional RSS feeds of newly submitted content so partnered sites can automatically populate content to provide additional redundancy. We will likely be offering free VIP and Moderator status to those willing to run seedboxes to help with this (as reviewing submissions does earn those users a small amount of tokens it helps pay the cost of their seedbox). This is all part of our on boarding program to bring in members of existing torrent communities. The more sites the torrents are available on and the more distributed they are in regards to seeds the better the site will function so we strongly encourage users to submit their torrents across MANY sites, not only ours.

Open Bounties

During open bounties, the site assigns either a time period during with a fixed supply of coins is split among total submitted content OR it assigns a specific coin value to every new submission. During Beta 2 we will be assigning 1KK VIDZ from the dev fund and those will be distributed among total submissions (20,000 items added means each item gets a bounty of 50 VIDZ). Open bounties will be run from the dev fund every time it goes beyond a certain amount to encourage participation in the site and a way of redistributing the currency within the site ecosystem. The dev fund is replenished from bounty fees and the coin buyback program.

It is worth noting that during open bounties there is a 'weight' assigned to each type of media. For example a movie will be worth 10x as many points as a episode of a TV show as most TV show uploads will consist of an entire season or series of episodes at once.

User Bounties

After the launch of the site, users will be able to use their coins to place specific bounties. For example I want the new episode of Game of thrones to be added so I place a bounty of 100 VIDZ and so do 5 other people. When someone submits an approved copy with proper tags, that's a 500 VID bounty on that item. 10% to the dev fund, 80% goes to the submitter and 10% goes to the moderator who reviewed the submission. It's worth noting that if a bounty is submitted of lower quality (EG: a cam recording of a new movie in theater) the bounty will NOT be paid in full but rather it will be split so that the bulk of the bounty will remain for a proper quality version when it becomes available. The breakdown of what quality video can claim each bounty will be a part of the technical whitepaper.

VIP Requests

Tipping and bounties are all well and good but most people don't want to have to think about how much they are assigning to a bounty. When someone purchases VIP service on the site, 50% of the coins are verifiably burned, 25% is assigned as that users 'vote weight' and 25% is added to the dev fund. A users vote weight automatically assigns a small amount of VIDZ to each request they make without the user needing to be aware of it. The math behind how these coins are assigned is a bit complicated but the system will avoid over rewarding for specific media. If the item already has a large bounty, the vote will be added to improve visibility of the request but the bounty value will increase only slightly but if it has nothing assigned it receives a much larger portion of these coins too bump the visibility of the request significantly.

Tipping

I mentioned it above so it's worth mentioning that those who are inclined to do so may tip users directly. We predict it will be more popular with users to place bounties instead but if you really like content a user is submitting to the site then feel free to send them some VIDZ

Channel Subscriptions

Not relevant during the initial launch but as the site grows, if independent content creators are interested, we are happy to provide increased functionality where users can submit their own content to private playlists. These playlists could require fees to unlock or could be treated as a semi-premium channel where new episodes are blocked from non VIP members for the first week after being added and then become available for all. This would be a fantastic way to onboard those who want to use the site as a host for their own web series or tutorial series.

ok so after reading a bit more about pure vidz i'm a little concerned about a few point:

1. What makes you different from any of the other torrent sites from getting shut down? Will PureVidz have their own tracker hosting torrent files? Because your project makes the SHARING of videos decentralized but you are still prone to getting shut down like other torrent trackers have.

2. The whole point of this project is to have a place to people to share videos WITHOUT all the ads and click bait most sites have. If this project brings in a lot of traffic which is possible, how do we know you won't plaster ads all over the website like every other site you're trying to differentiate from.

I have more questions but i'll leave you with these two for now.

1. Most torrent sites these days are quite resilient in how they run things. From a technology standpoint much of what we do will be similar but we have the advantage of seeing the past decade of legal battles and learning from them in our initial approach. Here's some key important factors

-Primary domain will be a portal routing to whatever server/domain is in use for the site allowing us to move it around as needed without impacting users.
-Users in countries with harsh filtering policies can use .onion domain through tor to access the services regardless of their local policies.
-The site itself will NOT host the database but rather remotely connect to one of the database servers. These will be spread across multiple servers in countries with rather lax copyright laws such as Sweden, Russia and the Netherlands.

In short we will lessen our risks by hosting absolutely NO content on the site. No database, no images, no .torrent files, nothing. It will simply be a stylized portal with heavy caching of user requests to reduce database load and improve speeds. We will reinforce our redundancy through multiple database backups spread across friendly countries and by having numerous fallback domains in the case of one or more being seized. For those more technically inclined or those living in countries with very strict internet censorship they can access the .onion domain to ensure global access to the site and its data.

2. Our site will certainly have advertisements but our guidelines for what we allow to be advertised and the placement of those ads will be of very high importance to the long term success of the site. Our primary focus will be on user centered advertisements. At the start this will mostly boil down to the following

-VPN referral links: Everyone using torrents should be using a VPN if they are in a country with strict copyright laws. Our site will contain a comprehensive overview of what the site does and does not track and how to protect themselves. These ads will be featured prominently on the site as a simple static banner (no pop up/under, no video, sound or animation). The goal of these ads and sections of the website are to ensure our users are informed and at the same time provide revenue for the site.

-Relevant physical merchandise links: This is a broad category but could be anything from purchasing boxed sets of shows you are currently watching to buying an android TV box from a partnered site. This will become more and more relevant as the site grows. One of the main goals of our API is to extend the site beyond browsers and into the livingroom. If trusted merchants are selling preconfigured android tv boxes for the site, it only makes sense for them to advertise with us to sell them.

Now, I know your question was how you know we wont change our policies but I wanted to first list what our policies and goals ARE. Obviously there is many more ways the site can (and will) be monetized but we are building this site because there is a real need for it and its the sort of site we feel should have existed for years now. Obviously if the site needs to find a way to survive we will find ways to make that happen by pivoting to a different monetization strategy to ensure that the site stays online and that investors are able to be rewarded. We very strongly feel that plastering the sites with ads would cause much more harm than good and would be a horrendous strategy for the site to monetize, even in the short term.

We need more information on how pure vidz plans to make money.

Most of your question has been answered in my reply to CAMOPEJB but here's a very shortened version of how the site, its contributors and its investors can expect to profit. Note: We are running the math and checking through our financial whitepaper to make sure it gets posted with hard numbers for investors to review. That will be expected when Beta 2 of the site launches.

How does the site earn

-Advertisements
-Referral services
-Merchant partners for android TV devices featuring the site
-Featured site media
-Premium membership fees

How do investors earn?

-Trading based on the value of the coin
-Coins burned through site mechanisms (equates to same earnings as a profit share)
-Buyback programs funded by a fixed percentage of all site revenue

How to contributors earn?
-Filling bounties for new content
-Participating in viral marketing campaigns
-Reviewing submitted content (must be moderator)
-Developing applications and sites using the site's API

It seems like you have a pretty solid plan for going forward but why do we have to wait for the next whitepapers and the demos as you call them. Why cant we see it all now and start using the site already.

There's a couple reasons for that.

We've built a fully working site internally for testing but a development site is not necessarily something you want users to have access to. We need to make sure it is stable, efficient and user friendly not to mention secure. The first public beta site will be available in the very near future. At the same time that site goes live with some public domain media for users to test the technology with, we will be posting our technology whitepaper detailing how the site and coin function, our plans for how the site will scale and how we plan to keep the site secure in the case of any attempts to take it offline.

By launching those two at the same time it will let people have something to get their hands on and try to prove we can do what we say we can and those who are technologically inclined can verify that the site will be usable at the scope we describe.

The second demo site is what we are working on now which expands the base site functionality with things such as submitting new media, the initial bounty system, searching, tagging, scraping sites such as themoviedb for descriptions and much more. This is where efficient scaling needs to be carefully considered because what works with 1,000 users does not necessarily function under the load of 10,000,000. At the same time this site is released we look to offer our financial whitepaper to give much more specifics of how the ecosystem will function. We've been active in the thread describing in layman's terms how everything will work but investors will obviously require a much more in-depth and precise document showing how coins are exchanged, burned and earned.

It's worth noting that the second demo site will have a global (very small) bounty on all media submitted so everything that is submitted during that phase will be rewarded after the ico ends. It offers us a chance to onboard members of existing torrent communities and get their feedback so any necessary adjustments to the site can be made before its final 1.0 launch.

Do you have an eta on when demo 2 will be available for testing?

After reading this answer id like to invest 1 btc. How do I do this? Do I need to make an account on the site, or contact one of the escrows.

Thank you for your interest. You would make an account on our site at http://purevidz.net/

Funds submitted through the site are tallied, associated with your account and then sent to a 2-3 multisig wallet.

Im very new to all this, and by all this I mean bitcoin and bitcoin altcoins. Most alt bitcoins i have to buy or mine but do I understand it right that i will be able to seed a tv show series and get paid for doing that?

The coins are distributed initially through the ico and through the dev fund. To get more you will use an exchange, stake the coins you have in your wallet or participate in the site. During Beta-2 of the website there will be a small global bounty on all validated content submitted to the site. This simply means you submit a magnet link for valid media and name/tag it properly. Following the ICO those bounties will be paid out up to a maximum value.

In regards to post release coin redistribution and consumption I've detailed those above.

What will make pure vidz better then the other streaming sites?

The main advantage purevidz has over other streaming sites (couchtuner, popcorntime, etc) is that all the content is decentralized. Torrents have no single point of failure as they are spread across multiple trackers and hundreds or thousands of people who are seeding the files themselves. This results in a more user friendly approach where there is no need to sort through broken links and mirrors.

Unlike many streaming site, we will have very strict advertisement guidelines to make sure that there is no misleading ads confusing users. This means when you see a play or a download button, that's actually what it is and you wont be taken away to some shady 3rd party site and scammed or infected as a result.

The main advantage over other torrent sites is simplicity. There is no torrent client required, there is no need to worry about which copy of a file you want as all media is rated and curated by users to make sure it will be exactly what it says it is. You open up all the power and convenience users expect from top paid streaming services like Netflix such as discovery queues, searching by tags, recommended media and still have all the power and flexibility of a traditional torrent service. Those who don't care about streaming in their browser can still use the magnet links provided to download using a traditional torrent client and in the process they are still helping the site grow in both popularity and by increasing the resilience of the torrent network.

How do I get vidz bitcoins? Do I buy them on an exchange like coinbase or from the bitcoin atm? I like this idea and will probably buy some but I dont know how. Sorry about that, I am very new to bitcoin and bitcoin alts.

Initial coin distribution will be through the ICO, Bounties and initial Dev Fund as well as a number of other methods. After that users will use exchanges or will participate in the site's economy to gain or spend them. This includes things such as tipping content providers, placing bounties on new media, paying to unlock premium site features and much more.

There is a large number of things the dev fund will be used for. Including the current twitter campaign, an initial promotion where all validated releases on the site have a small base bounty (to build the initial database) as well as future promotions such as a temporary bonus for using the rating and report system on the website or a bounty for each user who puts a physical poster advertising our site in their local college campus/community center.

All in all there will be plenty of ways to earn small amounts of tokens for use in the site but in order to obtain larger amounts of coins, exchanges and the initial coin distribution from the ICO will be what is used. As mentioned above there's a LOT of ways the dev fund is used and replenished so I think that's a good topic to expand on in one of our upcoming whitepapers so investors know how the coins circulate through the site economy, how they are burned and how they are earned.

seems interesting. can you explain how you plan on getting people to uplaod their torrents so that you get all them important shows and movies.

The site is designed to reward those who contribute to its success. There will be a number of ways bounties can be placed on new releases including VIP requests (paid from dev fund) and manual bounties (placed by users). These bounties are awarded based on the quality of the contribution. The majority of the bounty value will be sent to the person who fills it (submits a torrent), a small portion goes to the moderators who review and approve the addition and a small portion of it is returned to the def fund to allow more automated site wide bounties and to sponsor new advertisement campaigns.

We will have much more details on that in our upcoming monitization whitepaper. For now I'll leave the math out for now as it can get pretty complicated when you're mixing manual bounties with automated ones and then stacking VIP requests on top. We currently plan to release 3 major whitepapers and 2 demo versions of the site before the ICO ends. That should offer users plenty of chance to look at our systems and do their research before deciding if investing is right for them or not.
