If your hash rate is so slow that you don't find anything valid before the block changes you may never find anything.

lol not gonna lie one bit... I kinda feel a bit dense and ham-fisted comparing mine to the others submitted  Roll Eyes

Some day I'll write decent code... some day

If it works it works!

I meant to ask earlier -- are there switch/case statements in this language?

I'm hoping he's just sending them with the same offset to everyone in order to be fair and there's no unintentional delays.  That would put us about 1 week away.  I'm hoping...
1404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Deterministic paper wallet? on: July 29, 2013, 09:39:40 PM
In armory you generate a private seed offline.  Something like correct horse battery staple.  From that you generate a public seed which you copy to your computer.  You import this into a watching only online wallet.  This generates as many public keys as you want to send BTC to.  If you ever want to spend the BTC you generate an unsigned transaction in your online wallet, transfer it to your offline wallet where you can sign it with the private key generated from the private seed and then transfer it back to the online wallet where you broadcast it.  The online wallet never knows your private keys or seed.

On the right hand side:

Subunit
.001    mBTC (millicoin)
.000001    μBTC (microcoin)
.00000001    satoshi

You can use this website to convert:
https://www.google.com/#safe=off&q=168000000*.00000001
Just replace 168000000 with the number you want to convert

The wikipedia has the conversion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin
1407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experimenting with Jalapeno firmware... on: July 29, 2013, 09:10:02 PM
I've never done it, but it looks like you can do something like:
java API stats | grep GetInfo
1408  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Experimenting with Jalapeno firmware... on: July 29, 2013, 06:53:53 PM
Run getinfo in cgminer and look at how many engines your chips have.

He can close his own threads, but not other threads.  So your scam accusation thread can't be closed by him.

Thoughtcrime

Well Joey is double plus ungood, so a little thought crime is justified.
1411  Other / Meta / Re: Unfair traders of auctions on: July 29, 2013, 04:50:37 PM
All you can do is leave negative trust and post in the scam accusations.  This forum is like bitcoin itself -- no rules, anonymity, full of scammers.  If you did win you must use escrow as you're just as likely to get scammed as get the product.

Take your 160BTC and buy 35 Asic Miner (not active miner!) shares instead.
1412  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Complete Confusion with Wallets on: July 29, 2013, 04:43:41 PM
To test it out just send 0.05 bitcoins around to the various addresses in your wallet.
1413  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Speed mining on: July 28, 2013, 06:08:16 PM
It's not really going to make a difference to a pool.  The pool will find blocks at a very slightly faster speed.
1414  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How to build a miner with chips? on: July 28, 2013, 07:39:19 AM
Most miner companies and sales on ebay, etc are scams.  You have to do a lot of research to find the real ones.  You should probably look for one that uses avalon chips.  BFL is finally shipping, but they are still a year behind.

Always use escrow.
1418  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I'm building a SUPACOMPUTAH!!!! :D on: July 27, 2013, 06:12:07 AM
Yeah you should at least have dual Xeons.
Dual Xeons is for pansies. I want my Quad 16core Opterons! 64 cores in one rig.

Yeah it's nice saying you've got a lot of cores, but most times you're better off having multiple xeon nodes instead.

Ha, I used to do the novell popup, and I think there was some unix chat too.
I remember spoofing smtp mail sending an email from your professor that you were failing.
