1401  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Overview] The one thread to link them all on: October 18, 2016, 09:10:00 PM
Thats a really nice effort and great list of important and useful threads that we should have read.I am using bitcointalk since a long time and even i didnt read many of those topics, dont know why i never found them.Thank you for the information.

Thanks, the thread is poorly updated though. There will be better maintained one that easier to find soon.
1402  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcointalk Escrows - Trade Safely! on: October 09, 2016, 01:43:27 PM
At first i do think that escrow service is really i good way to earn bitcoin in easy way, but when i grow more to this industry i am starting to realized that it must be a way of helping others in this community. Btw how can i know that i am trusted enough to do some escrow service

Look at what is publicly available about you (e.g. via your account) and consider if you would trust a stranger like this with your coins. Alternativly just wait till people ask you to be the escrow.
1403  Other / Meta / Re: My account Letyouearn got hacked . on: September 14, 2016, 05:10:29 PM
May I know , what does a counter rating means ? This is new thing for me. Plz explain it.

Unless something has changed while I was absent we are allowed to leave positive ratings if we disagree with the last negative ratings on someones account. I think it should be used carefully to avoid arguments on trust profiles, but I see no such problem in your case.
1404  Other / Meta / Re: My account Letyouearn got hacked . on: September 14, 2016, 05:03:43 PM
Just letting you know that I got your PM. I will verify the signed message and remove the negative trust as soon as possible. I hope to be able to do so in the next 12-24 hours. Im sorry I cant do this sooner but my main account is currently difficult to access for me in a secure manner. If someone else form DT could add a counter rating that would be highly appreciated.

Done, will leave a counter rating until mexxer and lutpin have had the time to review theirs.

The account was restored by theymos today, sorry for the long wait.

Congratulations on your new position.
1405  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Vanity Addresses! on: August 08, 2016, 05:41:39 AM
Could you give me a quote on 1BiaBChris (case sensitive) vs 1biabchris (case insensitive). I'm aware that it's 9 characters long and case insensitive is over 45 trillion difficulty, but just want to know (mostly for curiosity.. I probably can't afford the price you give Smiley just being honest).

I'd have to assume case sensitive is impossible and will cost me literally a limb / organ if I sold it on the black market so I'm more interested in the non-case-sensative quote  Tongue

Edit: Assuming your prices are based on difficulty, I see from your last post that LexiBits was .0076 @ ~50 trillion difficulty so I'm assuming this would cost somewhere around .00684 for case insensitive 1biabchris @ 45 trillion difficulty. Let me know!

1BiaBChris (exact case) - cant do takes too long
1biabchris (any case) - 0.2382 btc

I get 45,142,342,467,559 for the difficulty, so roughly the same as LexiBits with exact case. I will just assume thats not what you are willing to pay. If you want a quote for a different address please send me a PM. I will be locking the thread (see below). Yours will essentially be the last contract for some time I can do.

Due to unforseseen events I will not be able to post here for some time and thus lock the thread until I have more time.
1406  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Can anybody help me to confirm my transactions? on: August 03, 2016, 05:43:57 PM
We usually dont deal with TX that create this many sig-ops.
You should look deeper.

I actually did. Can you (or anyone else) confirm: The TX can never confirm because tx.nversion must be >= 2, but its 1.

In any case, this only further confirms my point...

That we might be nearer than previously thought to the onset of a new era, an era of devastating collisions

It seems that my "prophecy" of nearing the age of hand-crafted collisions has come true sooner than I expected, lol. Someone apparently read my posts as of yesterday and decided to wait no longer...

https://www.bitfinex.com/

Just heard about the news

Nope, not a collision.

Signature checks out, not that I expect 1000 BTC from you.
Well, he did give away over 10 BTC already from what I can see. However, considering the time-frame and no limitations (e.g. minimum senior member would be reasonable), I expect a lot of posts here.

Yeah, thats what I meant. You got 1 BTC and mitchell as well. There will be many posts and addresses here so my chance of winning will be small. No risk, so why not.

Guck dir mal JoinMarket an und insbesondere welche Probleme die zur Zeit mit der Anonymisierung haben. Das sollte dir grob vermitteln wie kompliziert das Thema ist.
1412  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mr. Lutpin and the Betcoin incident on: August 03, 2016, 01:03:11 PM
Id like to state the following publicly here since it came up and I might be considered one of Lutpin's 'cohorts'[1].

From what I read and found myself searching around betcoin.ag they are in deep trouble due to the way their software supplier did not honor a jackpot. They handled the situation, but rather poorly. There are also plenty other unresolved issues. Thus I think a warning was needed. I personally would not advertise for them and get out of a contract ASAP. Other people will come to their own conclusions and it can be different from my own. I will not add negative rating to participants for advertising the casino, but it will probably have a lasting impression on me. Not that I believe many care about that.

[1] to think it used to be the other way around. They grow up so fast.
1413  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why do you need to download 7 years of chain block on: August 03, 2016, 12:54:14 PM
Eventually they need to find some way to better compress the chain would be nice for a start.

I think no need for that. Even if all blocks will be full, blockchain will grow by 52G per year. And modest 1T hard drive, will be enough for ~20 years. Such HDD costs $50 it's BTC0.1.

Block must be bigger in the future, they will indirectly with SegWit already. Keep in mind that someone new must also be able to download all that data in reasonable time. Its not only about diskspace.

Da die Börsen im Ausland liegen dürften bekommen die inländischen Steuerbehörden davon (noch) gar nichts mit.

Trotzdem hinterlässt man natürlich genug Spuren.

1415  Other / Meta / Re: Does the "One thread per site ONLY" rule apply in the lending section? on: August 03, 2016, 12:33:24 PM
I noticed today that knightkon has opened 2 lending threads in the lending section, with one being for loans over 1BTC, and one for general loans. These are the 2 threads:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1572035.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1480336.0

My question is basically the title - does the rule apply? If it doesn't, it should definitely be implemented because you will probably see people open multiple threads with different limits in hopes of getting more exposure, and hurting the people who don't want to do that.
In his case the threads are not promoting sites, so it is fine I guess.
Both threads are both with the same goal, but the short term loans and long term(big amount) should be in the belonging section.

Promoting sites or not does not matter. Its the same thing, just different amounts, so it should be the same thread. Its not about short/long term either, where a 2nd thread in a different section(!) would be justified.

Id report it as double.
we could make a long discussion about it, but that will not change a thing.
Just contact knightkon and tell him to merge these threads into one, instead of making the problem bigger than it actually is.

If have no authority to tell them anything. If anything OP could have just reported the thread. I have now, not sure if it will do anything.

1417  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen: Vanity bitcoin address generator/miner [v0.22] on: August 03, 2016, 06:29:36 AM
The physical limitations assumed in the picture are the following. Take the thing that requires the least amount of energy to represent a bit in either a 0 or a 1 state. IIRC its the spin of some particle. This lowest possible amount of energy is defined by the law of thermodynamics

Actually no, the lowest possible amount of energy is defined by quantum mechanics and can be calculated using Planck's constant (which equals 6.63*10^-34 joule-seconds) by multiplying it by minimal frequency, i.e. E(min) = h x f(min). The minimal possible frequency is determined by the age of the Universe (4.4*10^17 seconds). So we get the minimal possible energy that an object can possess equal to 6.63*10^-34 x 1 / 4.4*10^17 = 1.5*10^-51 joules. In this way, we only need to make such an object oscillate between the two lowest levels of energy given by Planck's constant (this may require only a tiny amount of energy, thereby making a Dyson sphere totally excessive)...

Provided we find such an object in the first place (some low frequency photon whose wavelength is equal to the diameter of the Universe)

Exactly all these details I am not familiar with is why I dont like this picture. I roughly understand whats its trying to tell (probably wrong after read your post) us, but I cant check whether or not the claim is true, because I dont understand physics good enough.

i think the main thing that people arent factoring in is, not just the possibility of a collision.. but you also have to factor in the luck in colliding with a used address.

this will significantly lower your chances..

I think the chances actually increase. Why? If we have fully used the address space (i.e. all possible addresses have been found and used), then the probability of collision will be equal to 1, that is, any address you may find will necessarily lead to a collision. If only half of the address space is taken, the probability diminishes to 0.5...

In this way, by filling up the address space, we increase the probability of collision (that was precisely my point)

No, if half of all addresses have been used there will very likely (just shy of 100%) a collision.
1418  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: *HELP LOST BITCOINS* on: August 02, 2016, 11:08:02 PM
What would your recommendations on this be then?

I am 95% certain that this code was on the receiving address page where you have the option to set expiry, save and new.

Well:

#1 its true, which means you have malware that injected the address in your electrum so you would send the coins to the hacker instead of your own wallet.
#2 its not true and you got the address from somewhere else, probably around that time. Keep in mind that its not a "new" address. As raj1 pointed out the address was used before.

IMHO #2 is more likely. It might even be one of your addresses from a different wallet.

How can i rectify this situation, i am literally f*cked if there is no resolution

You cant undo a transaction. Your only solution is to figure out where the address came from. If its the address under control of someone else, try to contact them.
1419  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: *HELP LOST BITCOINS* on: August 02, 2016, 10:51:52 PM
No it is not under used either, it isnt even a part of my change wallet  Huh Huh

So you need to figure out where you got the address from, because its likely an address you have copied from somewhere like a website or an address book.
1420  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: *HELP LOST BITCOINS* on: August 02, 2016, 10:05:04 PM

Its not under "used" either?

this is where the problem, i have reloaded my wallets from seed. like i say the watching only wallet is not recongised as my own. How i got the address for this wallet is a mystery, like i say my electrum wallet generated this receiving address initially. upon further inspection this is not one of my addresses.
