Why?  He's not been very helpful at all.

He did an awesome promotion of Nxt.

+1

...catching up slowly....

Got a link to this promotion?  All I've ever see him to is attack NXT.

Basically this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=422052.500

It provided much exposure for NXT (and NEM, NOX, NEXX, ME.TOO and FRX) Wink

Release the code, yes, actively help FC, no.

What about other copycats?

Haven't read the next 4 pages yet, so I could be completely out of date here:

I have no problem with someone taking the NXT source code and building something useful on top of it/modifying it/memeing it/whatever.

I do have a big problem with someone who is prepared to blatantly copy an entire project, stealing the entire thing and changing only one letter in the name, in order to satisfy a personal vendetta.

If u ( beloved C-f-B) do get involved with nex in any way, u could find yourself in a lose/lose situation:

nex succeeds: FC takes all the credit and the cash, the potential crypto-freak market for NXT is reduced, slowing growth and diluting NXT's market share.

or

nex fails: u get the blame because of your evil sabotage of FCs project.

U gotta make yr own decisions, but I wouldn't touch this with a very long stick.....

I think it's pretty fickle of CfB to get involved with NEX.  Strange actually.  Is NXT not the winner here?  Or, is there something behind NEX we don't know about?

To be precise, CfB says he will support a good crypto. He did not specifically say that crypto would be NEX, just that he felt he needed to be fair.

Let's not make it bigger than it is.

Either open the source completely and assist with genesis block creation, or don't open the source completely and don't assist with genesis block creation. Doing one and not the other is simply mean.

This seems an unnecessarily hard distinction to me.
If he asks, that is a different story, of course.

But if he gets all the tools, that's great, too, isn't it?
If I give someone a saw, hammer and nails, it isn't mean if I don't help to create a wardrobe.

Ah, perhaps I should rephrase. I certainly don't think CFB should feel obligated to work for free on creating a genesis block for NEX!

But if genesis block creation needs some secret sauce that isn't clear to a competent individual with access to the full Java source code, then that's a form of concealment that doesn't agree fully with the open source movement. We're either open, or we're not open. In April when the full source is released, it should include whatever information is required to allow someone to replicate the coin, including genesis block creation (but not necessarily hand holding).

The market will then decide whether Frictionless's 'fair' distribution makes it a more valuable coin.

Anyway, this is all academic, I already know the exact date that the NEX genesis block will come into existence.

Put like that, we completely agree.

Edit: klee, thanks a lot. I'm so glad that a simple idea like "let's organise all this information daily" helps people. It's good to fell appreciated and the feeling is mutual.

I would also like to thank to donator admiral.fu!

Damelon: sure, I am blocking only czech translations Cheesy

Good!
If it cán be translated to Dutch, I'll do it, by the way.
That way Google can't nag about duplicate content.

Well, I faced a moral dilemma and would like to ask for an advice...

FrictionlessCoin created a thread dedicated to NEX (descendant of NXT). I had a lot of fun reading that thread but I suspect some people took NEX seriously. The problem is that if FC waits till April when Nxt source code becomes completely open, he still won't be able to generate a valid genesis block, coz Nxt uses a crypto algo modified by BCNext (this is why we collected 10 BTC for the audit). I support all cryptocurrencies and would like to help him to create a new genesis block, competition is good for the whole crypto-community. But this could look not very good to guys who own NXTs...

What would u do?

Well then, quit spamming the NEX thread!

Quit taking the actions of one community member as a representation of the whole Smiley

if you'd read a few pages back, people are actually rather nice about your initiative.

Is this coin 100% premined "seed coins" and dev just waiting someone to buy coins, or are they all premined coins give away for free?
Or how this works?  Cool
NXT is already distributed you can purchase NXT here www.bter.com www.dgex.com www.nxtchg.com
Thank you for info. But I actually asking is dev give away all coins or how many they keep them self?
If I understand right this is 100% premined coin and every coin will get POS on future.
How may coins are behind dev growing stake = How much is dev premining and keep coins them self? All? 1%, 10% 100% or..?
I dont mind if they make profits from nothing... or from noobs pocket Smiley
but just want to know how many coins there is for dumping by dev?
Its important info for investors.

Are you sure you are in the right thread?
Serious question.

Nxt has been around since november and is up and running.
Maybe you are confused with NEX, NOX, NEXX, NEM, ME.TOO or FRX?
Those are all new since yesterday?

I repeat, I mean this question seriously.
Oh it's 100% mined second ripple Shocked
Yes I ignore this automatic. This was first time I stop look it.

if you want to call it that with (probably) no research, go ahead.
I f you want to know more, please take a look at our wiki: http://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Main_Page
1408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt marketing & promotion - progress tracking thread on: January 19, 2014, 10:33:46 PM
Question to all other writers here.

Would you be OK with me posting some of your writings on my blog nxtcoins.nl with proper references to your original posts/articles?

Dutch people read English well and most of them "work" better in English anyway because most technical terms aren't translated in Dutch.

I am talking about the posts by Salsacz and Anon and this one by to start with.

It will be totally clear it is not my work and I will properly attribute it to the correct writer.

If you are not OK, I will find another way to incorporate your work into the site. Smiley

A very kind donator neer.g deposited 250k to the NxtMarketing account and joined Come-from-Beyond's 250.000 donated for NxtMarketing:

2037401990853753795

Big cudos to neer.g. It is the guy ho often anonymously awards people who "work" for the Nxt.

Friends, this is Nxt. Here, you don't have any boss, no government, here you are being paid by others, if they are satistied with your work or just want to support your efforts. Anyone can come here and chat, ask for help, but also do something, contribute, help others.

PS: he used me also as en "escrow", 10k will be sent directly to uniqueorn and 5k to me and pinarello, that's why he sent 270.000.

Αlso I thank to Come-from-Beyond!

Then I repeat my thanks to neer.g!

From 0 to 500,000 in one day for promotion and also extras for people who's efforts are appreciated.

Big thumbs up!

r u kidding?

No. I supported a lot of currencies that looked innovative. I don't stick to Nxt only. If I see a crypto that has more chances to make the world better I'll jump to that train.

Hmmm... now I'm having second thoughts... I say we also give FrictionlessCoin 10M NXT!?!?!   Huh

According to the poll we decided to give him more than 50 billion NXT. Smiley

If you give him the source, you will be giving him 1,000,000,000 NEX.

That's more than generous enough Cheesy

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

Give the tools. All the tools that he should get in open source.

If he puts in the effort and succeeds, that is how it goes.

Our own success does not depend on what he does, it depends on what wé do.

Seeing as he has already told you that he thinks the code is beneath him, I would let him figure it out for himself and put his money (or not-money) where his mouth is.
You have no obligation to help. That means it is totally up to you. You also have no exclusive obligation to Nxt.

On a personal note I would dislike it that my investment went down the drain because of one person's crusade against Nxt, though.

The ironic thing is that by doing this he makes a strong case against releasing the source. He turns the situation around and uses emotional blackmail to get his point across.
I don't mind him creating a fork, that's to be expected. I dó mind him using videos and other material by the community. That shows he is willing to stoop to immoral methods to prove his point.

And the point is just one thing: he thinks Nxt distribution is unfair. Nothing else. He has no aim to build a better coin and system. He just wants it to be "fair", whatever that means in his personal universe.
1415  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 19, 2014, 08:45:20 PM
i wrote something similar in the nextcoin community a month ago

but can you understand the initial investors who do not contribute to the community? I mean guys like klee and one or two other big investors are really giving away bounties and stuff like that - but some are just inactive?

I would say if every early investor would be active as for example klee regarding giveaways etc this project would already be twice as big as peercoin...

Or is there any coordinated behaviour between the initial investors and developers?

I've seen this question before. It's normal and understandable.
My own answer to it is that you can't force them to contribute, frustrating as it is.
Yes, it hurts Nxt, but it's water under the bridge now.

As far as I know there is no big coordinated initiative. But then again, some may be giving out stuff behind the scenes. I got 3500 Nxt from an unknown big account yesterday. No reply on who it was.

In short: I choose to work with the situation as is. I can't force anyone to give out their stake, so prefer to focus on the things that are, not what I'd like them to be.

My, I should become a preacher... Sorry if that sounded a bit over the top...  Undecided
1416  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT - Voting on the scope of authority of the funding committee on: January 19, 2014, 08:28:12 PM
Voted 2, but am a proponent of a hybrid version: funding committee plans and has its own agenda ánd gives out funds to open bounties.

Otherwise we will keep having problems that marketing efforts will be largely uncoordinated.

Open bounties are a good idea, and need to be there, though, if only as a means to get as many people involved as possible. Some people don't like to work in a team environment, and we shouldn't force them.

I think version 2 could include version 1. For example salsacz could ask for a big marketing bounty and when it is approved she can plan and implement it in details.

So we decentralized detail decisions to project and bounty owners.

Works for me. Basically the "coordinated" marketing is as much a project as any others. No need to give it higher status. That just leads to epithets like "official".

Thanks for helping me get that straight. Been racking my brain to formulate, but it's been a long day Smiley

I personally don't see where marketing is important now when much-needed and absolutely essential is a great multi platform client. This should be the first priority and tackled by joined forces ASAP.

A marketing strategy, development and execution can sometimes cost more time than develop a great multi platform client. Please do not underestimate this.

I do not underestimate this at all. One can go kickstart marketing strategy once there is the essential multi platform client.

We are working on multiple fronts at the same time, it is not linear mathematics anymore.

So nexern's client (multi-platform) is the one that is being waited for, right? I can see only one person working on this particular client. It should be a no-brainer that the client is far more important than marketing at the current stage.

Marketing needs to be planned and thus budgeted.
We already know that the client is coming soon. So planning and budgetting to be able to start the campaign as soon as the client is there is logical.

Parallel processing.

Marketing must plan and get ready while devs develop.

The idea that marketing is effortless is an example of good marketing in itself Smiley

what about 1 account three user get the pasworrd?

Whatever. The only requirement is the consensus.

no concensus comes from the community by vote.

password holders dont need concensus, one of the three only have to pay when asked for it by the community.

Indeed, password holders are executors of the community consensus. That's how I read the plan.
