Bitcoin = 0

Blockchain = millions

I think a lot of people forget he started Silk Road by selling his own home grown magic mushrooms. He was a drug dealer first then a website sysop.

How is BTC being developed?

Poorly and slowly.

So, what's in your opinion in case to make the developing progress be better and faster instead of poorly and slowly?
I understand that bitcoin development require many agreement from devs teams, miners and users that called consensus just like mentioned above. We can't say it will easy due to we don't have any leader and decentralized system if bitcoin, that what makes it interesting. You may share your thoughts to inform us.

Most of the key devs that were devoting their lives to it have moved on to other projects, Chinese miners are controlling development (like block size), getting consensus has proven to be all but impossible, devs are not paid so their motivation is lacking which has led them to work on other projects like lightening, blockstream, etc. It's really a multitude of problems with the system that even other open source projects don't have and I think it's because money is directly involved. People work on Linux distros out of love and care about the project. People work on Bitcoin for cold hard cash and they've proven that time and time again.
i agree with you sir. due to lack of motivation like payment for there hardwork, they try to go other project. whether or not they love what they are doing as long as it compensate them enough.. if only they are being paid right, enough and satisfying, then it will motivate them to do more innovations and developments that would really help the bitcoin community in the near future.

It's not like I'm ungrateful for their work. I understand the need to eat. I just don't think the devs working on Bitcoin see beyond their ability to use Bitcoin for wealth and peer recognition. Bitcoin just doesn't seem to attract the same kind of personalities that Linux does.
1404  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have we reached peak tribalism? on: January 19, 2017, 04:27:26 AM
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. As far as fixing the problem? How does one fix human nature? Calculating the biological component of Bitcoin was Satoshi's biggest failure.
Ahm curious as ta what you meant by that second sentence there 'bout the biological component.

OP, ya dam rite 'bout the tribalism, but itsa like dat evverwhere, even in tha workplace an'even in tha smallest of tribes. Ain't goin' away anytime soon less'n we collectively crawl our tribal asses back inta tha sea, evilootionarilly speakin'.  An' even then we'll still jist be killin' each otha inna water.

The human element. People are unpredictable.

BADecker would argue that DNA proof and radio carbon dating is a lie like all science.

The joke is that U. S. Christians feel superior. That type of superiority causes some of the worst hatred and crimes against humanity imaginable. Years ago when I was a kid, my mother knew a sweet little old white woman that looked like a TV representation of the perfect grandmother. I actually overheard her tell my mother that lynching black people shouldn't be a crime because god said all the animals on the earth are for man to use any way he wants to. That scared the crap out of me. I really think she would believe eating black people is perfectly fine because they're just animals.

I don't believe BADecker would argue this.

The radio carbon dating process is extremely accurate. The thing that is foolish is thinking that C-14 was always in abundance throughout the world as it is now.

Imagine that there was no C-14 being created prior to 5,000 years ago. Why imagine this? Because nobody knows whether or not C-14 was being created 5,000 years ago.

Since nobody knows, and nobody knows whether or not C-14 was being created in the same quantities, down through the ages, as it is now, there is no way to determine through the C-14 "count" how old anything is.

Carbon dating is 100% guess beyond 2 or 3 thousand years ago. The process is flawless. What we base the process on is unknown.

Cool

That's what I mean. There's always some bullshit argument why the earth is only 5000 years old, dinosaurs never existed, a boat built of wood with hand tools could support two of every creature on earth, evoulation is wrong and the whole list of Christian circular arguments and assumptions.

Read this: http://www.debunkingskeptics.com/DebunkingChristians/Contents.htm

You won't read it because the truth scares Christians like nothing else in the world.

What? Now you think the Earth is 5,000 years old? Come on. We have pottery and writings on clay that we can date back 4,500 years without carbon dating.

Stick to the carbon dating point. Nobody knows the amounts of C-14, the ingredient used in carbon dating, that was in existence beyond 5,000 years ago. And even the amounts that existed 2500 years ago are almost complete guestimations. Without knowing these things, there is absolutely no way to use carbon dating to date anything accurately.

What you are doing is trying to hide the fact that this is so, by clouding the carbon dating issue with the idea of religion. Therefore, thank you for helping to prove and advance the point that carbon dating tells us nothing about the age of the Earth.

Cool

Christian circular arguments and assumptions.

Don't worry about the Chinese. A fat French guy is selling stolen coins to them currently. When they find out about it they will realize they hold the worlds record for fastest money laundering operation in recorded history.

I believe  in God He is the creator of all things here on earth and outside the earth without Him all things will not exist ,I believe that science will never dispproved God but in contrary it reveals How great and amazing He is , I'm not gonna judge anyone here but if youve ever read some of the scriptures you will found out that they are related and they will never contradict each other
They are all contrary to common sense. Everyone knows that the relatives of the sick children are born. Therefore, marriages between relatives are prohibited. The Bible says that the entire population of the earth family and are descended from Adam and Eve. Nonsense!

No, only white people are descended from Adam and Eve and made in gods image. Filthy dark skinned people are descended from apes that the devil cast a spell on to make them look like people.

*snip images*

Now why would you compare Obama and his wife to Adam and Eve? ape or no ape we all share DNA.

I'm certainly not a racist, but even say you're right. How people survived if they were born in the same family? It seems to me that this theory is not confirmed. The Bible is just lying. As with any religion. I do not understand how educated people can believe it.

I blame fear of death for the loss of rationality in otherwise well educated people. My christian brother in law told me he knew I was going to hell if the stories are true but there's only a 50% chance he was going to hell. He literally said he's hedging his bets on Christianity being true. He said, "if I believe and it's true then I go to heaven. If it's not true then I'm no worse off than you are." Somehow I don't think he's a true believer. LOL

I fully understand idiots believing in Christianity. They're not intelligent enough to understand logical arguments proving it's just a collection of made up stories told by bedouin tribal peoples thousands of years ago. They need to believe in something because they fear death and don't want to be erased when they die. That makes sense for someone with weakened intellectual capacity and I have no problem with that. The problems happen when these idiots perpetrate violent crimes against humanity in the name of a god that's clearly a figment of their imagination.

I think Bobbie Lee may actually be a fucking liar.

Quote
The People’s Bank of China posted on its website that it has visited China’s largest bitcoin exchanges to investigate whether bitcoin transactions were made to violate current regulations on foreign exchanges and money laundering.

Bitcoin seems to have become a hedge against the tumbling yuan. See my January 5 blog “Bitcoin: A Hedge Against Weaker Yuan?“.

In 2016, while the yuan fell by almost 7%, bitcoin prices soared 145%. China accounts for almost all bitcoin transactions in the world now.

The Financial Times reported yesterday that PBoC had already visited mainland China’s large bitcoin exchanges last week, but in PBoC’s statement, the central bank said it only started its investigation effective today, January 11.

How do you run this new piracy company with no data?

Quote
Megaupload's former hosting provider Leaseweb has deleted all Megaupload user data from 690 servers without warning. Petabytes of data are now lost forever. Kim Dotcom is outraged by the scandal and says this is what the U.S. Government was hoping would happen all along. "I'm furious about this betrayal, and extremely sad," Dotcom tells TorrentFreak.

It’s been a frustrating situation for the millions of affected users and one that has taken a turn for the worse today, with the news that Megaupload’s main hosting company has decided to delete all the data they had stored.

This may not be what you are looking for, as it is not purely from a monetary/transaction standpoint. Banks could use the blockchain to securely and proofably hold data. The company Tierion does this with health and other business data. https://tierion.com/

I think that's what they're trying to sell. It's cute that they show 2,700 records stored. According to ach/eft, the average consumer storage is roughly 63,000 individual records per year. That's all deposit, withdraw, pos terminal, check, auto pay, lookup, direct deposit, credit inquiry, consumer unknown credit pull and more. For a single country that's about 18,900,000,000,000 records per year. I think Tierion may be a little overwhelmed. LOL
1420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would banks use a blockchain? on: January 16, 2017, 08:03:37 PM
Bitcoin's best feature is the database. A banks business is mainly a huge database that keeps track of customer records. The ach/eft system is an enormous database that keeps records of customer transfers between banks and businesses. As banks continue to accumulate massive amounts of data, with no end in sight, the industry must find new ways to store it.

The key requirements of big data storage are that it can handle very large amounts of data and keep scaling to keep up with growth, and that it can provide the IOPS necessary to deliver data to analytics tools. The analytics tools lookup account records, determine balances, screen for fraud, track deposits/withdrawals/automatic payments, rout direct deposits and a multitude of other functions. Bitcoin is sorely insufficient for the needs of a major bank with a constantly accessed major data set. It's too slow and too clumsy to be useful. However, banks have one other database that Bitcoin might be useful for and that's data warehousing.

A data warehouse is housed typically on an enterprise mainframe server or in the cloud. Data from various online transaction processing applications and other sources is selectively and only periodically, extracted for use by analytical applications and user queries (like asking your bank for a copy of last years transactions for an IRS audit). These warehouses have no need to be super fast or stored locally. Something as clumsy and slow as Bitcoin would be well suited to data warehousing. The problem is the volume of data that only one bank stores makes the Bitcoin full node blockchain look like a Nikon camera SD card. Banks would only be interested in using the blockchain streamlining and data redundancy features to link all of their warehouse mainframes worldwide.

This use is meaningless to Bitcoin or it's adoption rate.
