see if this works:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1459567.msg21368842#msg21368842

Also verify that the circle icon in the bottom right of the electrum window is green coloured?
1402  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum unable to access to the main menu on: September 02, 2017, 01:05:35 AM
Thank you. I'm on Windows 10 and cannot access to the file menu of Electrum as the only think I have when a launch electrum.exe is the window asking for the password and choice of wallet. But I have only one wallet to open (as I don't have yet created others) and lost the password on the wallet.
How can I open Electrum without having to open this wallet ?
Thanks

Use the command line switch like i told you above. Do you understand? I believe if you press windows key + r you will get the command prompt in windows. Then you can navigate to the electrum directory in program files and use the command line switch. Read my previous post again.
1403  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: MyCelium Gear and Electrum Issue, Offer 0.1 bitcoin for solving the issue on: August 31, 2017, 06:18:27 AM
you need to increase the gap limit in electrum. if you are using 2.9.3 then go to view menu > show console. Switch to the console tab and type this there:

Code:
wallet.change_gap_limit( 50 )

Close electrum and run it again. The addresses gear generated should now show up.

If this problem happens again in future you should increase the gap limit further. But don't increase it too much or your wallet will get slow. 200 should be the max.
1404  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I can't find my wallet.dat on: August 31, 2017, 06:04:52 AM
You can also do it via file menu > save copy in Electrum. Saves you from searching for the wallet file.
1405  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum unable to access to the main menu on: August 31, 2017, 06:02:12 AM
Use the command line switch with a new name for your new wallet file:

https://bitcoinelectrum.com/frequently-asked-questions/#how-do-i-open-a-different-wallet

Then follow the instructions here:

1406  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Is it safe to reuse a mnemonic seed in a multisig wallet? on: August 28, 2017, 10:29:19 AM
If you share the xpub with someone else then that person can see all the transactions in your single sig standard wallet too. So best to let electrum generate a new mnemonic for you.
1407  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum - issue with double authentication wallet using watching only wallet on: August 27, 2017, 12:19:34 PM
Offline wallet will never show you transactions or balances because it has no way to get that data on account of it being offline Smiley You can still do the offline signing dance so it's not really a problem. See the guide here:

yes it supports restoring bip39 wallets
1409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Recover bitcoins with 12 words, all else unknown on: August 25, 2017, 11:18:35 AM
Is that really your wallet seed or does it belong to someone else?
1410  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Sweeping question on: August 25, 2017, 06:14:27 AM
The window I meant is this one:

https://bitcoinelectrum.com/files/2017/06/sign-broadcast.jpg

Is this the one that doesn't list the fees? You see this window after you click on sweep.

Importing private keys would not be moving the funds. To move the funds you need to do the import and then send the coins to another wallet. Say your regular electrum wallet.  The transaction that sends those coins must confirm. After all that is done you can claim your BCC.

1411  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Sweeping question on: August 25, 2017, 03:19:16 AM
When you sweep you get shown a transaction window where the actual fee you pay will be listed.

In order to have control over the fees I think you need to import your private keys into a new wallet instead and then send them to your HD wallet with the seed:

https://bitcoinelectrum.com/importing-your-private-keys-into-electrum/

Once you've imported your keys you can wait for an opportune moment when there is less congestion on the network and fees have fallen. They you can pay a low fee to move your coins. Alternatively you can just use your imported private keys wallet as normal and consolidate to a seeded wallet later.
1412  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum tip for newbies! Plus my Recovery story on: August 24, 2017, 03:04:25 AM
Note you shouldn't save the seed on your PC. You write it down on paper so that even if anything happened to your computer you could still restore your wallet.
1413  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: A semi-cold installation of Electrum on: August 23, 2017, 05:27:38 AM
well it's not cold storage since you are exposing your private keys to an online system.

you can create shortcuts to specific wallet files so all that symlink stuff isn't necessary:

https://bitcoinelectrum.com/frequently-asked-questions/#how-do-i-open-a-different-wallet

to save a copy of your wallet file you can just do file > save copy.
1414  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum tip for newbies! Plus my Recovery story on: August 22, 2017, 08:53:30 PM
The wallet name is listed in the window title.

Also I suggest using full wallet file encryption to prevent situations where you receive money to a wallet you can't spend from. You can enable that by going to wallet menu > password, enter your password in all 3 fields, check "Encrypt wallet file and then save those settings. Now you won't even be able to view your wallet without entering the decryption password. Once you enter the password you will be able to both view and spend. So in order to get a receive address you have to enter a password and that minimizes the likelihood that you receive money to a wallet you can't spend from.
1415  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Fees in eletrum much too high? on: August 22, 2017, 01:11:07 AM
I'm also wondering why such a discrepancy between Electrum and blockchain.info.  Electrum shows costs of $3 while blockchain.info was showing a cost of only 7 cents.  Why should there be such a large variation??

Also, in electrum if I don't care very much how fast the transaction confirms how should I set it for cheapness?

Tools menu > preferences > fees tab. Check "Edit fees manually". Set "Propose replace-by-fee" to "Always". Then on the Electrum send tab you can set your own fee. If your transaction gets stuck you can right click on it in the history tab and select increase fee.
1416  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: ./electrum: Permission denied error on: August 21, 2017, 04:51:24 PM
you should install it properly using pip2 as instructed on the download page:

1417  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Balance Confusion on: August 21, 2017, 04:44:53 PM
no need to restart it. it'll be reflected straight away.
1418  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Fees in eletrum much too high? on: August 19, 2017, 11:55:40 PM
Here are some possible reasons:

- You may be confused between mBTC and BTC. You can change the base unit via tools menu > preferences> appearance tab.

- The fees displayed in the slider tooltip message are per KB while a typical transaction is more like 250 bytes. So the actual fee you will pay is going to be lower. Click on the preview button on the send tab to see what the actual fee will be.

- There has been a surge in transactions on the blockchain recently. That is the cause of rising fees. Once segwit is activated and support for it added to electrum you will be able to migrate to a segwit wallet which will reduce fees.

The fee slider will be improved in future versions to support even lower confirmation times and lower fees.
1419  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Hot Wallet to Cold Paper Wallet on: August 19, 2017, 08:53:42 PM
You can lose your money if you do paper wallets incorrectly. My suggestion is to use the cold storage features of electrum itself:

1420  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: PLEASE HELP: Watch only wallet problem on: August 19, 2017, 12:27:19 AM
a watch-only wallet is just that. you can't spend from it because it doesn't have the seed or any private keys. that's why when you open a watch-only wallet you get a warning telling you to make sure that you have the seed or private keys recording somewhere.

without the seed or private keys there is nothing that can be done.
