and as of right now I have a lost fedex. which was not delivered on the 29th.

I screen shot. the lack of delivery at 8:01 pm last night

today at 10:57 am I get a back dated message saying it was dropped off at 1:15 pm yesterday.

Having done business with fedex for more then 20 years.  There is a chance it will show today.  If not. It will take a long time as whenever they pull the back date move it is either next day or fight for weeks.

Thank goodness it is just a 50 dollar item.  and not the $1999  Threadripper cpu I got last week. Grin

here is the meter

it is spliced into this

here is the cable that would run an s17 with no meter spliced in

10 hour measurements are really accurate.

Yeah I do a lot of buys and sells.

UPS
Fedex
DHL
USPS

5 to 10 a week in and out during shutdown.

Delays are common with all of the above Since mid March.
14185  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Over paying for hash power, why? on: April 30, 2020, 11:28:28 AM
I got my extra coin from them yesterday they paid me in full.

The extra coin made on this boosted price actually makes up for the 18% they owe me for the 2017 theft.

Still would be nice of Nicehash to pay the 18% back.  I will never put a lot of gear here as they continue to show a fundamental lack of honesty.

I am interested as well, how loud are we expecting? Not exactly thinking as a space heater but more as a gekkoscience style desk miner myself.

I have to go back and look at the build thread maybe 45db with an atx psu.

I will use bitmain software july 2019 set to lowest power it does 3300 th.

I will cherry pick boards .
14188  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S17+ and T17+ on: April 30, 2020, 04:20:46 AM
Yeah but more then USA buys it.   coins were 7k now 9k.  price was 760 now 943

9000/7000 = 1.2857.  943/760 = 1.24.

so that's is close to a push. except for USA. as 760 = 0 tax. 943 = 264 tax

so the price jump is 760 to 1207.  and with 1/2 ing in 2 weeks

it will take 2x time to earn the coins.
14189  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S17+ and T17+ on: April 30, 2020, 03:44:21 AM
Coins jumped over $9000.00.

And they are in stock so pay 💰 760 to 943.

would not be a terrible jump but with the 1/2 ing in 2 weeks it is a terrible jump.

Thanks Phil,  what watt meter do you use?  I may look into getting one of those!

I have two identical meters like the one I posted.  I'll swap and see what it turns up, also do you suppose the leg I have the transformer on matters?  it shouldn't since this only pulls 220v unlike say a stove which also pulls 110v for the various electronics, in theory that would have a slightly higher leg amperage wise right?

this meter
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GMZRXE8
wired into this cable
https://www.ebay.com/itm/L6-30P-to-C19-Molded-Power-Cord-10ft-220V-250V-30A-Ships-Free/202904653534?

it measures by the hour not instant time

I like to take a 5 to 10 hour measurement

say  0 hour             100.00
      10 hours later   122.25

you did 22.25 kwatts / 10 = 2.225 kwatts an hour or 2225 watts  more accurate then a cheap meter.
14191  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S17+ and T17+ on: April 30, 2020, 01:03:57 AM

14192  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Blockchain Dev Cost on: April 30, 2020, 12:22:45 AM
How much it cost and time frame needed for developing platforms like coinbase e.t.c.

More than you have, if you are asking that question on an Internet forum.

Then we have these super-cheap "exchanges" and platforms you can find on the internet where you'd probably get a copycat of some exchange with lots of flaws and you just won't know where to start from without a good team behind your project. IIRC, I've seen some $50-200 exchanges for sale even here on BTCTalk. If you want something serious, that's a very bad idea. Security is the top priority for any crypto exchange imo.

It is why my above answer is not just snark:  This is how users wind up losing money.  Nowadays with rampant KYC nonsense, it is also how their dox wind up being traded on underground criminal markets.

Somebody posting on an Internet forum to price out this type of project, with no idea of what work is involved, should ipso facto not even be thinking about starting an exchange—not even dreaming about it.

A good Development and Technology discussion from two years ago:  Bad Code Has Lost $500M of Cryptocurrency in Under a Year.

I cannot resist:

Put it at 150K$ and 18 months time frame before releasing version 1.1
OR
200K$ and 12 months for an aggressive project with more high skill devs.

If I budget for an aggressive pregnancy with nine highly skilled mothers, can I make a baby in one month?

At least, that is the business schedule for the prematurely released baby-1.1.0, which will be deprecated with the release of rebranded Baby 2.0.  We keep its DNA in git, so that the dev team of mothers can pull patches into their own decentralized clone repositories.

you caught my eye with the wiki link so I read it.

interesting how you interpret the article. {your pregnancy example}

you need better coders to do it faster.
but if it is a 9 month task you can't do a good job faster.

many do say 1 madly skilled programmer will be the fastest way to do the job
same for a pregnancy 1 woman 1 womb 1 baby 9 months.

I have always found a coder that can speak to regular people in regular words does cut a shit ton of bs out of the job.

yeah a pair of these. will cool 5 s17pros set to high

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Flow-1600-CFM-Power-Gable-Mount-Attic-Fan-EGV6/205924917

Master FlowModel # EGV64.3917(120)
1600 CFM Power Gable Mount Attic Fan

you can. do 2 simple  intake vents with these filters

https://www.amazon.com/Trophy-Air-Electrostatic-Replacement-Environment/dp/B0741YSTM2

they are washable  that saves big money.

two out put fans

two intake vents

you can do 5 s17 pros maybe six.

edit I just read your post

as long as you filter the intake you should be good.

those machines will do about 300cfm x 25 = 7500 cfm.  can you link the fans. as your method of cubic meters an hour is not as common as cfm.

2.6 cubic meters a second is 2.6 x 3.1 x 3.1 x 3.1 x 60 = 4650 cfm.

so. you said you have 2 fans correct?

IS it 1 fan in 1 fan out. or 2 fans out. with passive vents and filters.

if you are 1 fan input to 1 fan output. you are no go.

Let me check math again

correction

2.6 x 3.3 x 3.3 x 3.3 x 60 =. 5600 cfm. still short of 7500 cfm if you are push pull

input[5600]  >>>>> gear >>>>>  output [5600cfm].  is not good enough

passsive vents with washable filters.  >>>>>>>> gear >>>>>> output{ 2x5600 cfm}.  should work.

Great stuff!
Thinking about team viewer too, but the problem is the battery life of the pc/laptop. Maybe i need to go back and forth for every 3 days if for an average, with immersion i dont think i will need to take care of that much stuff.

For fair comparison on the same  rig:

Standard firmware

mode                      wall watts
low (40.5)               1755 (43.3 w/TH)
normal (51)             2330 (45.7 w/TH)
high (57)                 2655 (46.5 w/TH)

There is quite a bit of power savings at the wall as you can see using the modded firmware, especially if under clocking.

huge difference. in bold.

It will help with 1/2 ing.

Based on my s17pro numbers I suspect you have a hot meter. You seem to be much higher then my  s17pros stock readings.

I am
 1592 low
 2225 normal
 2555 high

old firmware from April 2019 on the one pro I tested.
14196  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Remote control your rigs in long distance on: April 29, 2020, 04:42:23 AM
I run three accounts with about 90 miners.

I am in Howell NJ
The miners are in Clifton NJ about 100 kilometers or 64 miles each way.

I use team viewer and can look at every one.
I can boot every one.
I can clock every one
I can change pools on every one.

I did not set up hard boot 🥾 power reset as you need a lot of expensive pdus.

The warehouse is maintained with 7 days and around 13 hours a day. By workers.

Every miner has a number so if my team viewer does not work I can call ware house and tell them turn miner 201 off and turn it back on.

With this setup I have better then 98% up time.

I have not checked miners in person since Feb 7 due to covid-19 shut down.

Of 90 miners 1 L3+ and 1 s9 are dead. plus one board on my t17+ works like shit.

not bad with more then 80 days of no hands on work.
14197  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: I will be making some s9 space heaters. on: April 29, 2020, 02:22:44 AM
Got it, thanks.

How much for 2 of them?  I would like to use the Bitmain APW3++ - 1 PSU for 2 units.

Not sure as The most important part is finding fans..

If I can get a good price on fans say 8 or less. I can make them cheaper.

by having buyer provide psu they are cheaper and you save on shipping.

also 1 board vs three boards cuts weight.

I just ordered 10 fans which will do 5 of these.

paid 66 for the 10              = 13.20 in parts per unit.
foam is 15 does 5              =   3.00 in parts per unit.
some stainless steel screws =   0.30 in parts per unit.

so 16.50 in parts I would like to tack on 8.50 bucks profit = 25.00  plus shipping for a setup 1 board space heater.

that is a lowball price as I could just sell the s9 dirt cheap for more then 25 maybe 60 on ebay.

I don't know how to find the right price as 25 is too low and is giving a zero value for the case, the hashboard, the controller

I think I may try selling it for 40-50 and giving a spare hash board not inside the modded case which will only fit one board.

Also this would really be difficult to decide on correct price since I am selling it more to space heat. And you don't have to do labor to mod the s9 your self.

Once I get shipping info from seller  a Chinese seller I will have an idea of when I get them {10 fans} . And when I can ship to buyers here.

I also have a pricing issue if these become viable miners again.

Ie BTC moons before I take in money and ship.

I am thinking 40-50 bucks plus shipping
you get the  1 board mod with a spare board and you need to supply the psu.

I think I would sell at that price unless BTC moons up a lot. 10,000 and I would ask for more.
14198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S17+ and T17+ on: April 29, 2020, 12:06:56 AM
I have had 4 T17's, 20 S9's (4 vanilla 8 i's and 8 j's), 2 S15's, 1 L3, 3L3+'s, 4 L3++'s, 1 D3 and even though that is not a lot of miners (35) I have only ever sent one back and it was a vanilla S9.

edit: I forgot to add one more S9 that I picked up from a garage sale for $20 - it had burnt connectors on the hashboard (the little plastic part has those dividers in between the pins - those were melted) and a bad psu (the wires had somehow melted and shorted out, I believe that is what lead to the burnt/melted connectors on the hash boards) but the miner and psu still worked once I swapped the psu wires and the burnt connectors.

I have had a lot of bad:

s9's
s7's
s1  first miner I ever purchased from them came with a loose cap and would not boot.
14199  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Introduces the S17+ and T17+ on: April 28, 2020, 11:52:20 PM
15 s17 pro all good

  1 s17.           good

  2 t17            good

 2 t17e           good

  2 t17+.       5 of 6 boards good.

  1 t15            good

  1 s15             good

 4 s9k             good

purchased all of the above new from Bitmain feb 2019 to April 2020 one exception the  [s15 was used]

that is a loss of a 20th board on the t17+ which kind of wants to work

all are spec the then 2x t17e which are power hungry.

I would consider that to be really good.

about 1255 out of 1275 hash works. and very close to power specs.
