1421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is the best Investment Option for Bitcoins? on: June 22, 2015, 12:42:27 PM
Best way is gambling. I turned 0.6btc into 40btc in 4 months.

You must be one very lucky guy.
Is there a specific game you like?
And is there a specific method you use?
1422  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Creating a Marketplace on: June 22, 2015, 12:14:18 PM
What kind of marketplace are you looking to create?
Personally I prefer sites that are unique. Buying a script will mean that your site as well as others are basically clones of each other with very little between them.
A custom made site, although more costly, offers more flexibility and also gives a site its uniqueness that pits it above from the rest.

I too like uniqueness in things but I can assure you that the majority of buyers prefer to get a good price over a good looking store.
If he can do both then he will make a killing. Smiley
1423  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could Satoshi Nakamoto be the CIA/NSA? on: June 22, 2015, 12:02:58 PM
The CIA or NSA want to crack passwords. So, instead of simply building a chip that hashes data using various hashing algorithms, the CIA or NSA develops a revolutionary payment system with the hope that four years later some Chinese dudes are motivated to develop chips that do a very specific kind of hashing that might not even be useful for cracking passwords.

Yeah, that makes sense.

Indeed it does make sense.
The OP is right.
They are cracking passwords as we speak.
Shit, they cracked my password just now.... Shocked
In fact, this is them posting this.... Roll Eyes

LOL!
Sorry, I couldn't help it Tongue

Yeah, I read this thread before.
Quite an interesting read.

Shouldn't this be in the Scam Accusations though?
1425  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: U.S. Government Mining Bitcoins on: June 22, 2015, 10:47:28 AM
Does anyone think that the U.S. Government would ever get involved in mining bitcoins?

I could see if bitcoin was the backbone of our financial system (which I believe is starting right now with the NASDAQ trials) the U.S. Government could possibly become the world's largest miner in order to help assure the security of the bitcoin network.  They wouldn't sit by idle while China does the majority of the mining.  Then I think other governments would join in to insure their own security as well.

This could also provide revenue for the governments possibly alleviating the tax burden placed on citizens.

Is this a possible outcome??

OK, ask yourself this:
Why on earth would they go through all that expense and trouble instead of creating their own coin?
What do you think the average American citizen would use?
Bitcoin or the US-DollarCoin?

One you clearly don't know the lengths governments particularly the U.S. Gov would go to control the currency.
Two you seem not to understand the human race. Of course the average American citizen would choose the Government made coin. Do you really think the mainstream is that smart?

Why would they go to any length to control something useless to them?
Instead they prefer to regulate and tax it.
If they truly cared they wouldn't auction seized coins.

I don't get your second statement: "Two you seem not to understand the human race."
How so?

1427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Executive Says 21 Million Cap Increase Inevitable on: June 22, 2015, 09:30:41 AM
There is no discussion to be made about the 21M limit. Consensus will never be reached, not even close. End of story.

Discussing about this is a big waste of time.

Look at base voters in the united states and ask yourself how many people want welfare, food stamps, and free public services. I think the block reward increase is only a matter of time unless some mechanism is built to make that increase impossible. Maybe some kind of charter or constitution would be helpful.

What do welfare and food stamps users, aswell as free public services have to do with bitcoin? Will they  cast a majority vote regarding block reward, or 51% the network from their trailer park ?
btw..
Bitcoin Executive is fictional character/title, it's something that doesn't exist, so you might as well say "Daffy Duck Says 21 Million Cap Increase Inevitable"
And then say you are not spreading, and also creating  FUD..

cheers

I think his point was that people want/like free money.
But there is no free money giveaway here.
Even if the block rewards increase, you still have to mine it.
1428  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warren Buffet saids: “Stay Away From Bitcoin” on: June 22, 2015, 09:05:36 AM
And I say "forget that old guy" He's so old he cant understand something as complex as bitcoin.

There is nothing complex about understanding how Bitcoin transactions and the blockchain works.
He will not be forking it, so he doesn't need to know the technical things behind it.
I am sure his tech experts have already told him about what he needs to know.
So, all he needs to know is how you can use Bitcoin as a currency, which is very easy to understand Wink

Chances are (and as has been mentioned before) he is secretly accumulating cheap coins.
1429  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *New Names* Mining BTC on: June 21, 2015, 04:42:58 PM
so they were part of the 37 % of unknown network, there is still 8% unknown left, but at least now we know who were the other 29%

Yeah, it seems that way.
I am really curious to know what equipment they are using.
Have they made their own ASIC chips and miners, or did they buy them from another manufatcurer?
1430  Other / Off-topic / Re: Greece Athens 5000BC and u find a Genie's lamp on: June 21, 2015, 04:33:16 PM
What do you mean ?

mine would be to create Bitcoin / Crypto

sure would have saved 7000 years of useless fiat time

Hmm, first, I doubt you would find a genie's lamp in Greece at 5000BC,
mainly because the whole Genie of the lamp story is an Arabic story not Greek Wink

Secondly, as to your wish I doubt that would be possible at that time because technology......
1431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Evil Plot? on: June 21, 2015, 08:06:15 AM
Is it possible to cut off a person or ban them from spending their bitcoins?

No.

Actually, theoretically it is.
If someone is to control 51% or more of the network power then they can do it.
And my guess is that when (not if) the time comes where only a handful of corporations (and/or entities) will be left (and able) to mine efficiently we will see things like that.
It's only a matter of time IMO.

Right now, the 51% attack is prevented by the fact that the average Joe is still (kind of) also able to mine and they do it P2Pool.
What happens when it's not profitable (at all) for the average Joe to mine?
1432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Canadian Government Decides -- Bitcoin is Hands Off -- No Real Regulation on: June 20, 2015, 07:46:18 AM
"Regardless, it appears as though the Canada’s federal government is ramping up to take a global lead with Bitcoin by letting it flourish before trying to control it."

so this is their plan in their end, this is why many Gov are not hindering bitcoin, they want it to become big first, before trying to get their hands on it

Well, there is no point on wasting time and money trying to regulate something that is currently only used by a few.
Let it get bigger and therefor worth your while, and then regulate it.
By then, you will have more chances of success because there is a large portion already using it and work with/for it.
Sure, some companies (like Xapo for example) might choose to relocate if they don't like the regulation,
but we should not forget that they will still have the normal Buitcoin user which will not relocate and will continue to use and get taxed on Bitcoin.
1433  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When 21 million coins have been mined. on: June 20, 2015, 07:34:19 AM
Transaction fees Will be the mining reward. High use of the bitcoin network Will be required to adequately pay the miners. On the other hand, You Will probably not live by that Time anymore, so You dont need to worry too much.

So the mining power thrown at bitcoin will be radically reduced at that point but it won't matter as 51% attacks would be useless since no new coins will be produced.

Stabilized will be more like it. We will reach an equilibrium stage where there will be only a few mining operations.
The 51% attack has nothing to do with mining new coins other than the fact that using that much power for mining coins would be profitable.
It has to do with double spends of coins the attacker already owns and to prevent other users from making a transaction.

Also, as Norris pointed out, the transaction fees will be the only reward for the miners by that time.
But you can expect the transaction fee rewards to be huge since by that time Bitcoin will be globally accepted and widespread.
1434  Economy / Speculation / Re: KNC moved all of their 9000+ BTC Today on: June 18, 2015, 06:41:06 PM
It's funny how 7 out of 12 addresses on that transaction carry the tag:
"Warning! this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address."
https://blockchain.info/tx/ebd11842f64bba3811012ad5db6c203324a54ede4236e5aa1e04b03c40496558

I am guessing it must be very tempting having that much hashing power in your hands. Roll Eyes

1435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitLicense - EOBOT follows Xapo and leaves New York on: June 18, 2015, 06:18:47 PM
Yes!!! Cheers to you!  Where is the applause emoticon when I need it!  This is EXACTLY what we need our companies to do.  When the regulators give you the finger, give it to them right back!  Maybe then the stupid regulators will realize that when you do this the businesses just move and the state loses out on tax revenues.

I don't think that most btc businesses want to dodge taxes or break the rules.  I think that they want to comply with rules and make a good business.  But when the regulators focus on an industry and try to kill it, then that industry can vote with its feet.

I think that these bitcoin regulations are being bought by banks to prevent crypto adoption.  If you move shop then you are making the banks waste their bribes.

The really great thing is that because of the nature of bitcoins, a business does not always need a local presence.  So if they move out of state or out of country then it should have zero impact on customers, or actually be good for customers.  And also I think that your average crypto customer is very aware of what is happening, and they will understand if there is an inconvenience while the business is moved.

So as a customer, I want to say THANK YOU to any business that decided to move because of bad regulations.  I know it costs them money to move in the short run, but in the long run you are making your customers happy!

;*

It's no emoticon, but it will do Wink
Check out that expression Cheesy

Apart from that, I too agree that it is a good thing that businesses are finding work-arounds to handle these things.
1436  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would You Ever Take Out a Loan in Bitcoin? on: June 16, 2015, 03:53:46 PM
I would not go near borrowing Bitcoin. One takes out a loan in Bitcoin in the winter of 2001 - 2012 when Bitcoin was trading around 2 USD and then 2 years later it is worth 1000 USD. I prefer something that depreciates in value such as most fiat currencies when it comes to borrowing.

Bro, Bitcoin hasn't even been conceived by Satoshi in 2001 - LOL Smiley
(I know it's a typo Wink )

I don't think anyone will give you a Bitcoin loan for 2 years though.
Then again maybe there is someone who might.

Also, you could ask for a 100$ loan in Bitcoin, then return the same: 100$ in Bitcoin.

1438  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 175 Quadrillion Zimbabwean Dollars Now Equals 0.02164502 BTC on: June 15, 2015, 11:14:48 AM
175 Quadrillion Zimbabwean Dollars Now Equals $5

Quote
HARARE, Zimbabwe — Zimbabweans will start exchanging quadrillions of local dollars for a few U.S. dollars next week, as President Robert Mugabe's government discards its virtually worthless national currency.

Fabulous!
I can now be a quadrillionaire Cheesy

Now, my question is: Do they even have that much money printed?
1439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to Approximate a Decentralized Exchange on: June 15, 2015, 11:11:04 AM
Did you notice CIYAM AT & ACCT ?

Automated Transactions (AT) is a technology created by CIYAM Developers which provides "Turing complete smart contracts" for any blockchain that implements it.
http://ciyam.org/at/

Atomic Cross Chain Trading
http://ciyam.org/at/at_atomic.html

Burst & Qora just integrated CIYAM AT / ACCT ino their existing chains! More to come soon! IF more communites would integrate AT/ACCT into their chains, then truly decentralized exchanges could get executed.

If you have questions concerning about, don't hesitate to contact me anytime!

Best
jan
CIYAM Developers

i still cant understand why this community didnt notice it yet, is aBIG STEP what the ciyam guys already did between burst&quora and ppl seems like nothing happend or maybe they didnt notice it yet dunno, but for me this a very good news.

They have laid the foundation stone, cmon devs lets continue it is a great beginning but you guys should continue it.

Because at the end of the day this is a Bitcoin forum, and altcoins are mostly ignored.
Can this technology be applied to Bitcoin? maybe it could be proposed in a BIP. I don't think people is going to be using Qora or whatever only because of that. We need all the good stuff to be integrated into Bitcoin.

That is true.
However, we see a lot more innovations from altcoins rather than Bitcoin development.
The fact is however that Bitcoin was designed to be used as a currency (with some level of anonimity) and is considered and used by most as just that - a currency.
So I wouldn't expect any cool features added to Bitcoin anytime soon.

Apparenly an professionally run operation. No evidence left on shipped products. But the police just camped at some mailing locations and found them this way.

This might have caused the third largest Swedish bank to run a negative full page Bitcoin ad in Swedish newspaper(!)
The article is a full page ad, marked as "sponsored content".

I have read the translated version from google but I didn't see the part on how the were arrested.
Are you saying that the police arrested them by staking some mail locations?

Also, the article doesn't really say much about the specific case.
They talk more about dark markets and how they work.
It almost looks like a promotion Roll Eyes
