just_me isn't an avarage Christian, he's probably some sort of a religious fanatic, I'v never met someone so "blind".. don't judge people by certain individuals +1 Just_me issues a reply to me in his "Locked thread", to which one cannot reply. I'm cutting out a lot of the wanna-be-preacher crap and posting it here. Spendulus.
I quoted from Jesus Christ in my original post, and when Jesus said something, well, isn't it great that Jesus is right, but you are wrong? ....Matthew 13:13-15... "Because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. ..... ...... but later on in this thread, I did try to explain to you, how it is for me to try and reason with people who are blind and deaf, because they do not believe in Jesus Christ.....Dude, just because you make your fingers produce words on keyboards does not mean you make any sense. Your reference isn't even an analogy. "See but do not see" is not equal to "blind". You've just, AGAIN, insulted my blind friends.

Not really, if you are heavily invested in bitcoin it would a primary concern. The world got by before the Internet, bitcoin didn't.
The world of 2013 does not get by without the internet. Does bitcoin actually require the Internet and if so, for what? Message protocals are not internet protocals. I think....

.... In the rest of the world we LEAVE. One advantage europeans have over americans is that we are not so... insular. We are more willing to quit our country and start over somewhere else. And we do, in increasing numbers.
I don't think you guys would want us back. Then again, we could come over and crowd out all your recent third world immigrants, or handle them in some other means. But come think of it, we'd probably bring the Mexicans with us. And the Puerto Ricans. And a whole bunch of red neck, tobacco chewing guys wearing boots.

It's nice to be reminded how small we are, even at our all time high
I've seriously never been impressed with motley fool.

Bitcoin’s price just keeps on zooming. The virtual currency again hit record highs Monday ahead of a U.S. Senate committee hearing on the potential risks and benefits of virtual currencies.....
I'm puzzled by this, because those committee hearings are no big deal. It would be interesting to know how much coverage it is going to get. Be pretty funny if some scheme was going on to get big media coverage, such as in 1988 August when Al Gore did Senate climate/global warming hearings and they rigged the AC units to not work... LOL...

You know, they may just have learned their lesson. I'm sure they still want their big government "Democratic vision", even though they are being ordered onto the fascist bandwagon. Regardless, one interesting thing to mull over is this... Where does all this lead in 50 years? Seems to me it is rather unthinkable.

....inside the individual countries it would work, but between there can be major issues. On other hand also inside countries depending the infrastructure, destruction of single or a few points can have major impact.
I'm starting to believe that Internet even working is a small miracle itself... I think it's the most complex thing humans have build...
It doesn't quite work that way. Assume that at some moment in the next year, a major country goes off the Internet. Hackers and other individuals seeing market opportunities, immediately COMPENSATE. The result is massive numbers of interconnected mesh networks, including long haul connections of sorts we may not be able to conceive of today. If the result is lower long haul bandwidth, then one of the compensatory mechanisms is quicker loading web pages. Action ..... reaction Let them hit the kill switch.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/15/us/cia-collecting-data-on-international-money-transfers-officials-say.htmlWASHINGTON — The Central Intelligence Agency is secretly collecting bulk records of international money transfers handled by companies like Western Union — including transactions into and out of the United States — under the same law that the National Security Agency uses for its huge database of Americans’ phone records, according to current and former government officials. The C.I.A. financial records program, which the officials said was authorized by provisions in the Patriot Act and overseen by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, offers evidence that the extent of government data collection programs is not fully known and that the national debate over privacy and security may be incomplete. Some details of the C.I.A. program were not clear. But it was confirmed by several current and former officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the matter is classified. Refer to bolded statement above. Like... Is there ANYTHING THEY DON'T DO....SECRETLY? Maybe ordering pizzas for lunch?

Wow, lots of doomsayers. I sure hope it lasts more than 8 years.
Why? All fiat currencies have to die. Zombie currencies do exist, though. Mostly operated by vampires. Not even vampries can stay away from gold Yep. But so far I have not seen any of the walking dead coming after bitcoins.

isn't this to be expected? you give people some form of autonomy/power, and they will use it to their own advantage. yeah, i've had that kind of stuff done to me before (a moderator misused his mod powers). you can't really stop a dick from being a dick. all you can do is try to let it go and move on.
there are so many ignorant people in this world who are not willing to accept dissenting opinions, and this guy seems like one of them. there isn't a big difference, to me at least, between a religious nut and a fanboy.
Good point. But the 'dick' in question has also closed two threads when they didn't go to his liking. This thread, I started and will moderate myself. My fundamental argument is that "There are no dicks in the service of the True God (whoever and whatever that maybe).

Your problem is that you care so much about this that you think his opinion matters.
Seriously; he's who he is and you're who you are and the two of you aren't going to have a discussion that either of you can enjoy.
So life is too short to waste time and sweat on this sort of thing.
You are correct. I just thought people would like to know what kind of a post the guy deletes from his stupid threads. And yes, I do know blind people and they damn sure smarter than he is. And more sure footed and with acute sensitivities.

The that was titled about the great depression 2.0 aka 2014, but quickly became shtf based! I am in silver and bitcoin, I do tell myeself that I need to get some supplies, even just for a month or so, but I haven't got to that point yet.
Off line copies of wikipedia might be useful, it's surprising how little awareness there is that you can do this. Quite easily. I have the 18gb version on my android phone and it rocks. Kiwi is the most generally useful way to do this, android/os x/win/linux. http://www.kiwix.org/wiki/Main_Page...and a couple of good but not used anymore gadgets left in a faraday cage style EMF protector box.

In Just_me's thread, he posted this:
Quote from: just_me on Today at 11:07:30 PM
I tell the blind man, the door is over there.
The blind man doesn't bother to 'look' or check, but simply says: There is no door over there, you are an idiot.
I tell the blind man again: 'The door is over there' but once again the blind man will not even 'look' or check, so he never gets to that door and never opens the door.
Instead the blind man wastes my time, by asking me why I think there is a door over there.
After a while, I decide I am not even going to listen to the blind man anymore.
The blind man yells at me as I leave: 'Don't push your belief in doors on me'
I just shrug my shoulders and walk away, going out the door I told him was there.
I replied...
I've known some blind men and women and they were damn sharp. They didn't act or think like you say they do. They knew where every door, cupboard, and thing was around where they lived.
You insult blind men and women.

....doesn't mean go live in a bunker with your dog for the next 10 years, but some forethought and planning for possible scenarios is a sound practice. Being prepared doesn't mean living in fear. Most who prepare for setbacks do so for peace of mind because they DO NOT expect to be run over by a car tomorrow.
bunker? How about gaining some basic skills? Machine shop, welding, carpendry, concrete and the segments of engineering behind them. How engines and motors and such work. And there's a lot more to gardening than one might think. A lot of people today are terribly ignorant about the basics. Like, a hobby of building race cars would generate some survivors... I agree with this, so if you really want to be prepared for anything you should start investing in your education and your skills. Because everything else comes and goes, someone could steal your food, destroy your bunker but no one can take what you know and what you can do. So the most important thing is what you are and not what you have. But note, also, that there are lots of ways that basic skills can be combined into a fun hobby. And don't forget tomorrows basic skills. Numchuck skills, computer hacking skills, 3d printing skills....
