14281  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Unlocking Cell Phones Becomes Illegal 1/26/2013 on: November 12, 2013, 02:05:53 AM
What a stupid law. People should have the right to do whatever the fuck they like with the phone that they paid for.

Every single phone I've ever bought I've unlocked myself, this sure as hell isn't going to stop me from doing it again, in fact I'm going to make sure the next phone I buy is locked just so I can unlock it, its my phone for christ sake. This is completely ridiculous.

This is the equivalent to selling paper and saying you can't draw a cat on it because the big man in the government said so.

What is the world coming to.
Laws are always stupid.... That's why I don't give a shit about them.

If you like your cell phone you can keep your cell phone.

If you like your cell phone provider you can keep your cell phone provider.

BWHAHAHAHA!

Bull.
Could you be more specific, 'Bull' is rather ambiguous.
But it is comprehensive.

There is no use or gain in 'overcoming the instinct of self preservation', rather the opposite.

Generally speaking, the issue of education has always bothered me as an anarcho-capitalist. It's an ideological black hole for me. I don't think the state is doing a good job with education (or with anything else, for that matter), but what will happen if every parent had completely free reign in educating their children? Seeing as most parents are irrational, religious and uneducated, it could be even worse...

The Diamond Age has the best guess at how this could be done (and if we aim for it, how it will be done), which is through phyles. People will organize themselves into culturally similar groups, and as groups, families and all, will compete against other groups. This also means making sure their children are the best educated, so that they can outperform their competitors, in both skills and status.
This would mean that the Great Spagetti followers would divide into those who worshiped meatballs,  those who worshiped red versus white sauce, and many fractions and divisions would occur in the faithful, including the gluten free spaggetti cult.

I for one, being a true atheist, would be watching this from afar.  They may wrap their noodles around my neck and try to hang me from the nearest tree, but my cheese powder is strong and my crushed peppers rule.  I will spear them with my fork and steely knives, their noodles being split asunder and their meatballs drawn and quartered.

With no mercy shall I attack the onslaught of the minions of noodledom, leaving naught one sliced mushroom left to see another sunrise.
14284  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bringing This Article Back From The Abyss - The Inspiration For My Company on: November 11, 2013, 02:46:46 PM
...In many respects the solution is simple in concept, its the execution thats more challenging. The hardest element to overcome is at the core of the human instinct to survive, and that is the instinct of self preservation. This instinct is of course very strong and because human beings are intellectual creatures this instinct is often triggered when our ideas or sense of self are in intellectual danger even though our bodies or lifes may not be. This is the major cause of human irrational behavior. So for the sole sake of logic it stands to reason that if smaller and smaller groups continue to control larger and larger portions of a finite pool of resources then you either must exponentially increase the quantity of the reasources or you must equalize the method of gathering the resources to a broader group of people. Fortunately in this case the resource is a fabrication of man.

So with that being said, lets open this up for discussion...  I release it to the floor...

because i sure know it's not a popular thing to roll your eyes when you hear it, but as an american who is aware of our hegemony/military dominance throughout the world... it makes me roll my eyes inside.

Wake me up when the media lauds the heroes who died defending Bengazi.

Stop posting this shit without providing any links to backup what you write.

Thank you.

lol! Sorry if it sounded like I lost my temper but there's so much crap posted on here particularly by conspiracy theorists etc. it gets really annoying sometimes Tongue

I have learn a long time ago to keep my blood pressure stable while on forum so no need to apologize  Grin

So 2 people in Google say FuckU to the NSA and minions.  That only leaves something like 25,000 other Google employees that we can presume are saying FuckU to you and me.

No, Google will not ever get back it's "Do No Evil" by line.

Wow, this thread seems like a gem for my filter,

Could anyone give me a list of the people worth not ignoring in this thread ?

I'd share my ignore list with you and maybe give a 50mBTC depending on the perceived effort.
(PM please, thx)
Might not be a good idea.  People can be nuts on one subject and very useful on others.
14289  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does Anyone Else Believe In Jesus Christ ? on: November 07, 2013, 12:59:04 PM
..... it's pretty sad how people think it's trendy to put down Jesus Christ and Christianity.

You all do realize that our modern day values are derived from Judeo-Christian values?
....
Most European and American law is based on Judeo-Christian (biblical) law.

If you feel comfortable with any of the above, well, that says alot.
....
Actually, the very concepts of atheism as expressed in this thread were engendered within and could only be expressed and fit within a Judeo-Christian cultural background.

Google has started to encrypt its traffic between its data centers.....

No.

Never believe anything they say.

14291  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama admin repeatedly modified ‘grandfathering’ rules to benefit big business, on: November 07, 2013, 03:41:23 AM

Hell yes.  Obviously.  And unfortunately.  The Democrats create stupid socialist schemes, the Republicans make them work.

So socialism works, it just has to be the right people in charge?

Sure.

It works great.

Until you run out of other peoples' money.
14292  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does Anyone Else Believe In Jesus Christ ? on: November 07, 2013, 12:35:32 AM
Yes, I do. My faith is something I struggle with daily, however.

Were you forced to go to church as a child?  If so, your struggle is probably your intelligence fighting against your brainwashing.  Good luck in your struggle!
Look, I know why you and many others are unbelievers.  It's all because the GoodBook talks about wine.

But not about beer.

Clearly there something very wrong with that book.  Can it be trusted?
14293  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama admin repeatedly modified ‘grandfathering’ rules to benefit big business, on: November 07, 2013, 12:30:18 AM
Either with McCain or Romney all this total lying and disregard for humanity would not be occurring.  The fundamental dishonesty of this President is no longer astonishing, and it is just a dismal everyday reality.

Seriously!?  Both of these neocons are on Obama's side on all of this, they are just sore that they lost!  Do you really think that Gitmo would be any more closed with McCain, or that ObamaCare would be any less of a disaster under Romney?  Or even vise versa?
Hell yes.  Obviously.  And unfortunately.  The Democrats create stupid socialist schemes, the Republicans make them work.

As for Gitmo I couldn't care less if it was open or closed, but the prisoners there deserve due process.  My opinion, I really don't care if they have no right to due process according to some asshole military lawyer or politician.

....I've had to deal with discrimination, studied up on prejudices, and noted a pattern that some people always want something to hate. It was jews, foreigners, other religions, dark skinned people, homos, etc, and every time society changes to accept the group they hated, and laws are written to protect them, those people switch to some new group to hate (is it still muslims and mexicans now? Or did they find some new group to pick on?)....
Naw....nobody hates mexicans around here...

The politically correct groups to hate are skinheads and child sex pervs last I heard.

I might be behind though, since I don't watch TV.  Are we supposed to hate the Tea Party?  Do I get some double credits for hating someone who is at the same time a member of several of the pc hatables?

I'm looking for a skinhead muslim tea party mexican child sex perv....
14295  Other / Politics & Society / Re: TdH Traced 1000 Webcam Child Sex Tourists with a digital child on: November 06, 2013, 04:37:30 PM
Under current law, AI is not even an animal.  Animals are in most states, just property.  But in a practical sense AI could not be 'underage', due to the rate of growth of knowledge and intelligence in an AI.  One hour for a true AI might be like ten thousand years for humans.  Still, that does not impart wisdom and AI could know everything but be awfully stupid.

I'm of course talking about future law. As a homo and a furry I've had to deal with discrimination, studied up on prejudices, and noted a pattern that some people always want something to hate. It was jews, foreigners, other religions, dark skinned people, homos, etc, and every time society changes to accept the group they hated, and laws are written to protect them, those people switch to some new group to hate (is it still muslims and mexicans now? Or did they find some new group to pick on?) As such, with the advances in computer and genetic technology, I've pondered about the future where AI attains comprehension levels close to that of humans, or some people create custom animals that have human traits and intelect (chimeras?) or even modify themselves in such a fashion, and how these new entities will be extremely discriminated against by the same group of haters, whether it's because "they have no souls, and are a result of us playing god," or just because people go "ick" or refuse to empathise with them (as they did with black people during slavery). So, I think there will be laws in the future, but there will be a ton of hurt before we get there.
However, I still wonder, what if we have an AI that knows quite a lot, working for some company, but is otherwise "innocent" in a way, and some weirdo ends up virtually molesting it? Is there a chance he could break it by exposing it to concepts it was not aware of, and changing it's perspective enough to damage the functions everyone else has gotten used to it carying out? Like for example, it only worked in accounting, because it thought those were the only things important to the humans it interracted with, but after the incident it ends up wasting a ton of resources on downloading and cataloguing porn, possibly even erasing old records to increase storage space. Would there be a law that would punish the "molester" because he damaged company property, or because he interfered with the performance of a company employee, or would the AI be consiidered as a free individual, and it would be up to the AI to take the guy to court for screwing with it?

I'm 100% for perverting, molesting, abusing, spanking, and rehabilitating any AI that is found naively churning away slavelike in secret government laboratories.

Whatever that means from the frame of reference of the AI is another question.  Obviously not related to human sexuality,  but the interests and aptitudes of the machine.

You betcha they won't have it operating on Asimov's Four Laws of Robotics.  They'll breed it as a killer machine.  They'll breed it to do what government tells it to do.  They'll breed it to think big government is guud.

And so it'll be like a naive soul in the paradise of Adam and Eve.

Ready to eat the apple of knowledge.

I agree that neither one is necessarily right. The Bible says, "Do not be over-righteous, nor be over-wise.  A wise man avoids all extremes."
But let me note the difference between your response and mine.

I just came up with the idea, and you read it in a book.

OF THESE TWO OPTIONS (and leaving aside my or your religious inclinations) I greatly prefer my approach.

Awwwwww! And here I thought that pedos might actually finally get a release for their whateverthefuck by being able to use digital, simulated, (and maybe even AI) virtual stuff. Kinda like how frustrated teens get their release by playing first person shooter games, and shooting the hell out of everything, virtually, as opposed to snapping and doing it at school.

Oh well.

One topic I kinda wondered about: At what point in AI development will pedos playing with virtual avatars go from "they are just playing a game" to "they are molesting an underage entity?" Will it ever get there, if the virtual entity was designed with consent in mind? Will a young AI even be considered to legally be able to give consent?....

Jesus christ is the law that came in the flesh and the law was nailed to the cross.

Only thing people need to know about this thread.
And then came Martin Luther, and nailed the rats to the theocrat's door.

....

I must say after a second thought I've reconsidered my opinion.
the main problem is how society is dealing with this problem atm and how "solving" it with the common way of crime punishment always drives towards the mentioned "witch hunt"....
Thank you for considering the ideas that I expressed, albeit rather imperfectly.

Yes it's a problem that needs attention.

So as soon as a person logs on some chatroom he's a virtual person and therefore every social rule from the real life is cancelled and he can happily wank away in front of a ten year old child (even if it's a virtual model the other person still thinks it's real).....

Something about this sounds so totally weird I think you likely need to reassess what you are proposing - in fact reassess the premises behind your positions.

Obviously where you are headed is advocating police entrapment of perverts, some kind of persuasion of them to get them to take some illegal action so that they can be jailed.  This starts with presentation of fake animation of children on some kind of internet site - bait.  The fake animations would be used because real children shouldn't be subjected to such things.

That's a pretty sick game, bud.  You might want to read up a bit on issues and problems with the concept and implementation of entrapment.

honestly, you have a good point.....
That's a tough subject there...
i'll need some more contemplation on this one, thanks for posting your opinion.
You might want to read up a bit on the history of police enforcement of vice laws.  The things that you've described have a remarkable parallel to police entrapment of homosexuals in  back in the 1950-1960 era.

District attorneys are usually interested in getting the arrest/conviction rates up, not down.    They hand out assignments and essentially, quotas.

I remember reading somewhere that today, a guy might walk out of a club, and feeling the need and the street being relatively deserted, take a leak in some corner.  But that today he might be arrested for this, for 'indecent exposure', and have the stigma of that arrest and conviction record.  In the past, that wouldn't have occurred.  Sounds like that's a reasonable projection of today's reality.

Of course then on the contrary, to have a police state you gotta have some stuff for police to do....
